Diwali in Rushmoor

Ordered only naans and received and had to pay for a huge order of dishes we definitely did not order or needed... sadly we will not use again after over 6 yrs of our continual happy service. Terrible customer service.

Dishes varied from tasteless, to burnt, to wrong dish (paneer used instead of chicken). Don't bother.

Normally really good food at a reasonable price. Along with my normal choices I ordered the sharing platter for two. Sounded great on the menu but a bit pricey. I thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt and try it. Upon arrival at the restaurant to collect, I was waiting for the best part of five minutes before the server got to me. Gave my details and he lifted a bag from the bar behind him. I asked if the food was still hot as I’d been there for 5 mins by now. I was assured it was still hot. I paid for my food and left. I traveled the five minute journey home and then served the food. At this point it was luke warm! The sharing platter was a total let down (see pic). I paid £9.50 for this! Absolutely shocking! Never again!

Drinks and poppadum's ordered. They both arrived quickly but the drink order was incorrect and the poppadum's stale. I ordered a chicken tandoori starter which resembled a small drum stick which was very salty and a red mess. Having just finished the starter, the main course arrived. The main dish was chicken Madras. Again very poor. My opinion was that the chicken had been re - heated and the sauce made previously. Definitely not fresh.. The naan bread was also a disaster. This was supposed to be garlic and coriander. The waitress said that the chef had no coriander so he cooked it with lots of green chillies instead. All in all a very disappointing meal in a restaurant that had no atmosphere . I wont be returning...

Last minute booking as me and my wife really wanted to eat out. I would normally visit the Everest but they were full. We have some quality Indian restaurants and takeaways in the area and me and my wife embarrassingly have probably tried them all. The food here was not what I would expect from a restaurant with such good reviews. The food although acceptable tasted like it came from either a jar or ready made paste. The traditional British Indian curry flavour was completely absent. If instead it would have been a more traditional authentic Asian menu then I would not be complaining. It was neither. The staff looked stressed, unhappy and not able to cope with the covid restrictions. This was obvious in the quality of the food. Very disappointing. Will not be returning.

Order never arrived! Seems like i am not the only person this has happened to reading the review below. Ordered via uber eats, me and my wife called once it took an hour! - man on the phone was extremely rude on both occasions - didnt once apologise, just said it was out for delivery? But never turned up!! I am still waiting for my refund from uber. Terrible service - why take the orders when you cant fulfil them. Typical - after the money .

I have been a long time customer of theirs but not anymore!I placed an order via Uber Eats. They missed the ETA and wouldn't update when requested. Finally got through on the second number. Manager was rude and requested for me to cancel the order as they were so busy. I cannot cancel an in-progress order! Why did they accept orders if they have no intention or fulfilling it? Terrible unprofessional customer service.Never going back to these jokers.

Had a takeaway after reading good reviews online about the place , The food was bland and the curry was so spicy hot I couldn’t eat it,most of it went in the bin I won’t order from here again .

Not sure if lockdown has affected the cooking, but the quality of curries were very below par.For example Chicken not cooked in sauce, no spices in the curry, dhall had no seasoning, etc When I tried to call next day to mention this, the phone kept ringing on and on...Please do not be put off Diwali is usually a great place to eat and get a takeaway. Just on this occasion it was pretty poor, let’s hope the chef picks up his level of servicing.

Number one curry house in North Camp wouldn’t go anywhere else. Lovely manager and staff and always made to feel welcome. If your visiting you must try the Chicken Chettinand, it’s an absolute winner

Went Diwali restaurant for takeaway meal for the first time.This on advice from a friend.restaurant appeared pleasant.And then all down hill.Miserable staff member,couldn't even manage a smile for start.when collecting meal 15 minutes later still same.Got home dished up.Found chicken bone dry overdone.no flavour in curry.bombay potato hard.and rice awful.Could have got a better ready meal from the shops.. definately the worse Indian ever tasted.give this place a MISS !!.

Great food, wine & service. It may seem an odd thing to focus on but Diwali makes the best Naan Bread I've eaten.

We have visited Diwali couple of times and got takeaway multiple times. Every time the food is amazing. The portion size is good, the taste is authentic Indian, which you hardly get in any of the Indian restaurants. Lots of vegetarian options and food is made according to your taste. The staff is friendly. Its a hidden gem of Farnborough.

I cannot praise this restaurant enough , we would always recommend it for a great tasting meal . Staff very attentive , food superb and the atmosphere is always great .The only niggle is the staff towards the end of the night or if they aren't very busy , hover over you , all I want is to enjoy my meal and not be rushed . This is a very busy place at times so at weekends you will need to book . Well done the Diwali , we all had a great evening and the food was beautiful .

We dropped in here whilst in Farnborough for a curry.The place was quiet but the staff were very friendly and polite.The food was really tasty and just as you would expect from a quality curry house.Would certainly recommend and will hopefully return the next time we are in the area.They have both Cobra and Kingfisher on draft

I cannot say enough how good the food was here. The staff were polite and attentive. However it was very quiet and had very little atmosphere. We were the last diners to leave at 9.30pm on a saturday evening.

I've lived in Asia for 10 years and eaten in the highest rated Indian restaurants in Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, America and the UK. I lived with an Indian room mate for 6 years in China, and ate homecooked Indian food almost daily. I lived in Bradford for one year back in 2003 and ate in the best Indian restaurants Bradford had to offer.

We have lived in Aldershot for the last ten years and we have hunted high and low for a descent Indian take-a-way that does not serve plastic meat!!! Well this is not a disappointment. The food was absolutely amazing, full of bold flavours and the meat just melted in the mouth. What an awesome experience. Great food so much I had to call back and congratulate them on this. If you want a great Indian take-a-way this is the place to go...can't wait to to try them as a restaurant.

Visited here with a couple of colleagues from work while working in Aldershot. Staff OK although not that welcoming and made us feel rushed. Food pretty average, but quite small portions, so did not seem value for money.

We had been loyal customers of Diwali for several years. On Friday night my Indian Takeaway took over an hour and a half to be delivered despite initially being told 50 minutes and then the manager telling me several times when I called to chase it would be ‘10 minutes’? When it FINALLY arrived, the same manager told me to ring back the following day for a refund because he ‘couldn’t hear me’ over the telephone to do it there and then. When I called he DENIED offering a refund. When I told him he had lied to me, in front of several witnesses he REFUSED to let me speak to the restaurant owner and put down the phone !!! Many years of loyal custom to this restaurant. Never again! Shame on you.

We have ordered twice, first time cold rice and missing naan breed, second time missing onion bhajee and the rice was cold again. We will not be ordering from them again

Last minute dinner here on a Sunday. The place was busy, the food was really good and the service ok. I would recommend it for the food! 👍🏽

Went for an evening meal. Found the staff polite and helpful. Food tasted good and reasonably priced.

First time here with freinds after they recommended it and have to say it was really nothing special, staff were nice and service was fine but the food was nothing more than average and certainly not as good as my local indian.

Great food, great atmosphere would recommend this to anyone who enjoys an Asian curry or grilled food! Waiters were very helpful and the service was amazing. Thanks to Rahman for a splendid service.

We went for a meal with friends between us we had 3 children aged 7-12 and they were very well catered for. The food was delicious and portion sizes were good. Waiting staff were friendly and great with the children, the atmosphere was family friendly too, I would recommend this restaurant for a family meal. Pricing was very reasonable too.

We have been going here for 5 years now and it is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area. The food is always excellent and the staff are outstanding! The service is good and attentive and the staff are always extremely pleasant and helpful! If you want a lovely experience locally, this is the place to go!

We probably order delivery from here 2-3 times a month and we’ve never had a bad meal. There was one curry we ordered once, that we didn’t like but the meals we regularly order are consistently great. The food is full of flavour, all taste very different and always fresh. The chicken is nice, not like the rubbery, funny tasting stuff you sometimes get in curry houses. They deliver to Frimley, which is a huge bonus and the food always turns up hot, accompanied by 2 free popadoms, mint yoghurt and mango chutney. This is definitely my favourite curry house and I highly recommend it.

Appalling experience. First to arrive in the restaurant at 6.30pm......still chewing on a poppodum at 7.20pm. Restaurant filling up.....and all chewing on a poppodum. some sat there for 20 minutes or more without even a poppodum!!!

Absolutely lovely food, great service too. It's become our regular for a treat. Recommended to us by locals when we moved to the area, we have learned why.

First visit to Diwali last night with local friends. Good polite service, nice clean dining room and the best Indian food I've had for many years. I usually stick to chicken or fish as lamb is often a bit tough in Indian restaurants. I decided to have the lamb and it was fantastic. So good I took a doggy bag home and have just finished it the next day for lunch. I will be back!

Lovely curries, always consistent and never lets me down. Apart from the curries, the rice is always light and the side dishes very tasty with very little ghee used by the state of my empty plate.

Not sure why it has taken me and family so long to revisit this great restaurant. I think the food was even better this time. The restaurant was busier than last time as it was over Easter probably. The service was good and we didn't have to wait long. Will definitely return.

Our usual Indian Retaurant has closed down in Mytchett so we were recommended the Diwali in North Camp Farnborough. What a really nice suprise, the staff were very friendly the restaurant was set out and the food was excellent. We enjoyed it so much we went back again and it was just the same, I would, and have recommended Diwali to friends already and we will certainly be making this our regular from now on.

Really, really, really good. Food is absolutely fantastic. The lamb was cooked to perfection and beautifully spiced, the Lamb Momo’s were worth the visit alone. Will definitely be coming back.

Went on the Wednesday night deal and couldn't believe how much you get for you money. The staff were very polite and the boss was very accommodating with my partners peanut allergy. Would go again

Visited Farnborough for official work for four days... this restaurant was close to my hotel ... taste of food was amazingly India... had dinner at this restaurant for four nights... truly, a savior.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend , as we sadly lost our local Indian restaurant. The food is always well cooked and very tasty with a high quality service. Pann and his team are always smiley and have got to know our names already and make us feel very welcome.

I love this place! I drive from Reading to go there because the food is freshly cooked and always to our liking. The service is friendly and they are always positive when greeting their customers. The prices are good too, the bill is never terrifying and we always leave feeling full.

I tried Diwali Restaurant takeaway for the first time this evening.

Ordered two large white wines which tasted disgusting. Asked to have them changed to be told no, only if we then paid for new drinks, there is nothing wrong with the wine (refused to taste it to confirm it was bad) and then said that although after ordering they brought the full glasses to the table we should have asked for a small taster first! Customer service was so awful that we won't ever be returning and to top it off I was violently sick so I truly believe the wine was 'off' ...shocking staff response to us.

The greatest thing about food is that it brings out the best in the producer, seller, buyer , cooker and eater.... you take pride in your food and that is satisfactory. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Had a return visit to this little gem of a restaurant in Farnborough on 13th July. For a Thursday evening it was busier than I expected. Nonetheless, we were seated and attended by staff politely and promptly. Waiters were at all times professional, friendly and attentive.Unlike many Indian Restaurants the Diwali is not extravagantly decorated. It is very clean and bright, simply furnished with some simple touches of the East.The menu is extensive with enough variety to tempt the most discerning of palates.My favourites were the fish, buttered chicken and lamb. The tandoori mixed platter starter is definitely not to be missed. There were 3 other tasty dishes we sharedThat said, the Diwali Naan Bread is the best I have tasted anywhere in the world!Our evening out for 5 adults (including 2 bottles of wine) came to just over £26.00 per head. In my opinion, excellent value for money!If you like authentic Indian cuisine, and are anywhere in the Farnborough area, don't miss a meal at the Diwali!

Ordered takeaway from here for the first time and food was tasty, with good sized portions. Highly recommend the chicken chettinand and lamb dish, khosa masu. Delivery to fleet means it takes a bit longer but it's worth the wait.

After trying many restaurants and takeaways in Farnborough, finally found my favourite Indian restaurant in the town. I went to Diwali restaurant few times and never disappointed with taste and service.

I went for dinner here recently and I have to say I was very impressed. Since moving to Surrey/Hampshire 14 years ago I have struggled to find a really good Indian restaurant in the area and have always returned to Hounslow to go out for a meal. I ordered spicy poppadoms to start which came with usual mango chutney, lime pickle and chopped onion. I then ordered Prawn Saag, Aloo Ghobi and a chapatti. The food was exceptional and probably one of the best I have tasted and definitely the best in the area. I also noticed the do a banquet night (not buffet) on a Wednesday and Sunday and it was excellent value Circa £12.

Went for a dinner with friends and enjoyed all the food that was served in a speedy manner from courteous and friendly staff.

We have been to this restaurant recently again, after we enjoyed very much last time. It was Tuesday evening, that's why we just went without booking. Restaurant was fairly busy. We were warmly welcomed and given our table. The waiter was very helpful to choose dishes from the menu. I had Chicken Kali Mirch this time, which is chicken with black pepper. Very delicious curry gone well with my rice. There are lots of choices in the menu. All 4 of us enjoyed our food.The service was prompt. Atmosphere was nice.Definitely visit again, highly recommended.

My husband and I had a take away from here last night for the 1st time. We thought fine dining, great, finally a possible decent Indian in the area. The food is far from fine dining. DON'T BE FOOLED! I told them on the phone this was our 1st time ordering. Not a care in the world to even provide a half decent meal! We had chicken tikka starter- the chicken was bright red ? Didn't resemble the flavour or chicken tikka but just a salty red mess! The bombay potato was swimming in oil like we had never seen. (We have attached a picture)The poppadoms were stale.The jalfrezi was ok but no where near fine dining.Chicken kali mirch tasted like a chicken korma gone wrong with a load of pepper in it. Not nice at all. We will not be ordering from here again. It was terrible. We spent £31 on this. Not happy at all. It's such a shame you can't find a good honest decent Indian. The ones in the area have all gone down hill but this one was particularly terrible.

we had wonderful experience here. Every visit is different and welcoming. We missed mr shiva who is founder of this restaurant for many occasions but after establishing new business is Swindon he is back to give his best service and dinning experience at Diwali food here is always fresh subtle and balance taste. Fresh ingredients cook to perfection. We never had to feel bad here.we urged other to sample their special dishes. My favourite is adreki chicken. Hospitalityvery poor, I went in for a late lunch when the restaurant was "open", but their service was really poor , I had to want 30 mins to get the food and they wanted the customer to get out even before finishing the food. They could have clearly told a "CLOSED" if they didnt want to entertain any more customersBILLThey tried to cheat me by providing a wrong bill with items I didnt even order, when I asked about that, they OWNER was furious at me and my family , which includes an infant - HORRIBLE experience .. WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN , and want to warn others , this is my first ever review of a place . The owner was frustrated of the fact , they had to keep the hotel open for one customer and they were not making enough money out of that. I was taken here by my daughter for my Mother's Day treat. We had a delicious meal and I particularly enjoyed the Chefs Special Biryani. All food freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Better than other Indian restaurants in the area.

It was my Dad's 60th birthday and all he wanted to do was go to Diwali. I personally had never been to Diwali before but Dad was adamant it was the best Indian restaurant around. We had arranged him a special cake to celebrate his big birthday and the staff kindly hid it in the kitchen before my Dad arrived. We ordered and our food arrived really quickly...im glad I took Dad's word...it really was the best food around. There were 7 of us and the service was quick yet attentive. The quality of the food was amazing and the portions were very generous. So generous that we asked for some of it to be boxed up. After we had eaten, the waiters and waitresses lit the candles on the cake and brought it over to our table while the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday.Thankyou to all the staff for everything, Dad was so pleased and we all had a lovely evening. Would definitely recommend!!

Me and my family went for dinner for my birthday, there was 8 of us and everyone enjoyed their meal.The service was very good, the food was lovely and it was very good value for money.Most importantly for me the restaurant was very clean and the staff were very friendly. There is not a lot of parking, which is on the road but apart from that a great place for a night out.

We order take away or eat in about once a fortnight. We normally order similar dishes, a mix of vegetarian sides and chicken curries. Sometimes the food is great especially the Chicken Chettinand. Unfortunately, too often I suspect the main chef has a day off and the food is awful. Today's food (26/02/17) was bland, unseasoned and the chicken was dry and inedible.

We were staying in Holiday Inn Hotel and ordered a take away meal for my family. The Hot, Delicious & Excellent food arrived in appx. 35 minutes. The food was nicely packed and brought in hot case. The vegetarian dishes were nicely cooked and Chilli Chicken was nice hot flavour. My kids were quite pleased to eat and my Mother in law who is Vegetarian was surprised to see this excellent food/service in a country side area.Our Special Thanks to all the staff and management at Diwali Restuarant....Diwali is Indian Festival of lights. Every time when I visit Diwali I feel like I'm at home. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Every time they give me the best sit, food is amazingly good and even they are OK to prepare food from the menu different way if I ask for it. I am regular client of them, I visit also already every Indian restaurant in Farnborough and Diwali is my favourite one.

Went back since the place changed ownership and the quality of food has fallen. This used to be our favourite Indian in Hampshire. It has lost its special touch.

I ordered a Lamb Biryani from here without nuts. They told me that it was fine. When I got home and started eating it I found loads of nuts in the food. When I returned it they were so cold and unapologetic. The same man I had ordered with said 'It comes with nuts'. The customer service was so poor. Luckily my allergy is not life threatening otherwise they would be facing legal proceedings.

I have been a regular customer since the restaurant first opened under the previous owners. I ordered a mixed grill as a takeaway. When I got home there were no prawns as stated on the menu. There were two types of chicken kebab - malai and tikka. Again the menu states just tikka for the mixed grill. I rang to state the issue but I was told that they have definitely provided the prawns and I must be mistaken. I stated that having had hundreds of takeaways from them I wouldn't be making this up!I will never use them again. Their attitude is very disrespectful. The guy who takes the takeaway order doesn't even know the dish numbers nor does he bother to look at their own menu! This place has gone downhill with their service since being taken over by new owners.

the chicken is superb - forget all the over-tenderised cheap chicken you get in most restaurants - this is superb. very succulent and tasty.

This small Indian is a little gem. Absolutely great value and deliciously tasty. Very accommodating and always wiling to go the extra mile.

The restaurant serves Indian food with a very good taste. they serve veg and Non- veg food. they also serve alcohol also. we three friends visited this place and had dal , paneer and roti and the taste like India.... if anyone want taste of India in farnborough then it's a one of.

We've been here a few times now for the Sunday lunch and have always has the restricted menu, not the main one.That said, there is sufficient variety in the menu and all the things we like.Instead of the usual Indian buffet offering you get to choose a starter, main course, side and rice from the smaller menu and pay the fixed price.Chicken tikka dry is to die for and the portion size is generous. Other dishes are also sufficient, so with perhaps the exception of those with large appetites there's little chance of going hungry.The service can be a little hit and miss. Whilst the manager s always polite and attentive some of the other staff can be a little 'clumsy'. Sunday lunch is very quiet and re are often only 2/3 tables in use which is a shame.We've eaten here as a couple and a group of 6 and have always been well looked after.Have also had takeaway and this is also good, with the flavours from the restaurant replicated in the take-away offering, which hasn't always been the case with other take-away's we've tried.Have a go at the Diwali nan, it's probably the biggest we've ever had, comes hot from the oven and is lovely.Absolutely going to be one of our regular spots for a quick meal out, or for a tasty meal in.

I have been using this restaurant for a long time and cannot (normally) fault the food. In my opinion the best Indian Restaurant in Farnborough! Sadly, recently it has gone rapidly down hill. The service in Diwali at present is mediocre at best. On the past 3 occasions something has gone wrong. I was given the wrong curry, an extremely hot dish that ruined the rest of my dining experience, ordered poppadoms, they didn't arrive but still got charged for them and then got asked if we wanted them at the end of the meal! Then last week the service in tehre was extremely slow, to the point where the manager was popping out in his car to deliver takeaways rather then tend to the customers in the restaurant.Hoping the staff issue is resolved soon!

This is a special restaurant, the food is excellent (really) and the service is second to none. Love going there.
