haven’t left a review here for ages (cos global pandemic) but compelled to now as we had such a great experience at Dishoom. We rocked up around 8 without a reservation and, although we had to wait a while, the staff were absolutely brilliant, getting me a chair because of my bad back and constantly communicating with us. Once inside our server, Yasmin, was super efficient and friendly and just great. As always the food was delicious - highly recommend the paneer tikka and house black daal - and even more appreciated after such a long absence. The staff are as much a credit to Dishoom as the food is, and I hope (am sure) they are appreciated.

We didn’t have to wait too long in the rain as there was a someone outside booking everyone in. Service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. A nice touch was the free birthday celebration puddings. A great evening.

I found that many of the dishes we ordered were covered in heavy sauces which hid the flavour of the food. More subtlety would be nice. Not the best Indian food I've ever had! Lots of hype but food needs more simplicity like real Indian food!

First time going to Dishoom and we were incredibly impressed. Goes without saying that the food is next level (paneer pineapple tikka is unreal) but the ambience and staff are what makes it so good. You can tell enormous attention has been paid to the decor, music, even the menus, so you feel a long way from London. Very very good value for the quality of food and you could spend anything from £10 to £50 each and feel like you've had value for money.

I visited dishroom for the first time. (we went to the Carnaby one) I treated my sister to an Indian for her birthday and she absolutely loved this restaurant. I am newly vegan and this restaurant had so many options. The staff were so helpful and really went the extra mile to meet my dietary requirements. I honestly can't thank them enough. Everyone was so friendly but two staff members in particular, Albert and Alex G really helped to make our night special. Thank you so much and keep doing what you do❤️

I must admit. We didn't go to shoreditch. It was during a Covid-19 lockdown and the restaurant was closed. So instead we headed to the Dishoom web site and bought some Dishoom Bacon Roll Naan Kits for us and our mates. It's delicious and great fun to make - even with multiple families jabbering away over Zoom or some such. A great concept, a brilliant video that tells you how to put it together, and such tasty food. Great fun for kids (or all ages) as you get to roll your own Naan! Thanks again Dishoom - this stuff almost makes a lock down worth while!

We booked online and had to secure the booking with a £10 deposit. Took an UBER but on arrival at the area found the place hard to find due to lack of signage. This made us 30 mins late and we were told they only hold the tables open for 15 mins. The place is very decorative and buzzy with trendy staff. We were attracted by the description of the dish LAMB RAAN"A leg of lamb marinated in chilli, garlic and ginger, braised overnight with spices, then flame-grilled, sliced and presented with mint chutney and fresh baked roomali roti. Tender, juicy and satisfying. 22.90" although it was good it was NOT as described. The meat from the lag of lamb is SHREDDED not sliced so this was misleading and not what we expected. We mention it to the staff and the situation was rectified to our complete satisfaction. Very good staff and atmosphere ,we will try another branch asap

Booked for the soft launch of the Covent Garden New Dishoom.Arrived early and were very professionally managed & given a table by the bar till our table was ready. This was the original Dishoom and I am very happy to say it has had a great makeover.Service is pleasant but the masks make communication a little difficult.Food wasn't that bad, we ordered the lamb chops, sheek kebab, chicken tikka, birianie, ruby curry, salad and various breads. It all tasted pre-cooked, which is hardly surprising considering how many guests they have to contend with.It was a cheap night out but I think I will stick to the Kensington branch, far better quality of food & service, although the service here was above average

The place is famed for it's black daal and as the Mrs is a veggie, we ordered it. But hoy god , we had to order another one! Excellent atmosphere, busy restaurant, very good service. Not your typical curry house by a long way. And reasonably priced too. Going to try their Covent garden branch when i return to London on Boxing day!

I have visited Dishoom at Carnaby Street three times now (once for breakfast and twice for dinner) and loved it every time. Therefore whilst in the area, I decided to try the Shoreditch location for dinner on Saturday 5th December 2020. The Shoreditch location is like a tardis! Very unsuspecting from the outside, and huge once you were inside! Our waiter was incredibly friendly, offering to go through the menu with us if we had not been before. This level of service makes the whole experience of visiting any Dishoom worthwhile, as each waiter I have met make you feel like they have all the time in the world to ensure you are happy. As always, we opted for their chicken ruby, spicy lamb chops, pau bhaji (the most amazing dish!) and chili chicken - which is so moreish! A must try for anyone that visits Dishoom. In terms of drinks, I love their bollybellini (a cocktail made of lychee, raspberry, rose and sparkling wine) and always a hot chai tea to finish the meal. A wonderful experience time and time again at Dishoom, I highly recommend to anyone that is considering visiting.

The staff were amazing, friendly, they had time to speak to all their customers which made the experience so much better. The butter chicken is outstanding & the cocktails are to die for. Keep in mind I’m south asian so my standards are quite high. Nonetheless, the food was disappointing. The black dhaal is a signature dish and it tastes like baby food. The naan was expensive, there wasn’t enough, and it was very greasy. Overall the portions were small (since I didn’t enjoy the food it was a good thing I guess). Also there was a random pomegranate on every lid. What I did like: • The Chilli Chicken starter was good. • Friendly staff. • Tin cups (this is quite asian so it’s a nice touch).

From the moment my wife and I arrived, we were greeted with warm and friendly staff, who’s main concern was clear: to welcome us into their home, and treat us as members of the family. Our server was Bruno, who was kind, attentive and laid back from the start. The food we ordered came quickly, and was of exceptional quality. I would recommend the mutter paneer, cardamom and rose lassi, and lamb chops. Out of this world. As we were leaving, we were gifted an extra cup of chocolate chai, as the kitchen had made too much! We also exchanged polite words with the floor manager, Hans, before we left. He invited us back again to join their family for another meal soon, as any good host would.5* all round. We had a GREAT MEAL.We had pre booked a table 3 weeks ago as a mixed household. Thankfully they called before and confirmed we can go on the Veranda which is considered outdoor seating. But it’s completely covered so you can enjoy come rain or shine. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived so we had to go across the road to Albion for a drink. 30 mins later and we returned to our table. Yes I had a moan as we didn’t factor having to have a pre drink elsewhere. The Manager couldn’t have been more apologetic. A round of cocktails on the house was really appreciated. We enjoyed the usual delights of Dishoom and can’t fault the food (I forgot how spicy dishes are!), thank good for the yogurt. The drinks were superb and 5 star London hotel/ Resturant quality. We were full when finished and Didi came over to say that deserts were on him! We actually couldn’t believe it and so so kind. In a world where staff can be rude and defensive I was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Resturant. There is an easy barcode to pay at the end you don’t even need to use their machine, you can also split the bill easily. Thank you Didi (Asst General Manager). You went above and beyond for us. See you next time!!

The Verandah here is very sweet and genuinely counts as outdoors as it is open roof if not raining and they open the flaps if the roof is shut. The staff are fine. The truth is, though, that the food is kind of mediocre, pretty bland and things like sheek kebab rather dried up. But that doesn't matter so much in these sad times when it is so lovely for the rare chance to see one's friends in pleasant and covid secure surroundings.

However it was quite inconsistent at Shoreditch, 3 dishes we had had been prepared very differently (and not as well) which was a bit jarring. There was 3 of us on a Saturday early evening and with no booking we expected the queue to be really long. We were greeted by a really friendly guy with an iPad who told us that the waiting time was about 30mins and we had to stay in the queue. We asked if we could possibly get drinks from across the road and he said we could which was really nice of him. Once in we were seated inside and our waiter Vincenzo really made the night even more special for us. His knowledge on the dishes and his friendliness was top notch. The food itself was delicious we shared a few starters and mains and had a drink each. The price was so reasonable. I recommend the dhal, corn on the cob and prawns. So tasty! My friend said the lamb was the tastiest he had ever eaten. We left feeling nicely full and satisfied. We were so pleased we decided to go even though we didn’t have a booking as the waiting time was worth it. OK, so we have been to Dishoom several times however this time it was a bit average. Firstly the lady at front of house was great, however our server was all over the place. Drinks were great. The food was average, the pau bhaji tasted heated up and garam masala added, this was prevalent in all the curries, they replaced this. The lamb chops were charred to within an inch of their life and were replaced. The chicken ruby tasted good but had 3 bits of chicken in it. The server was almost embarrassed when this was pointed out and brought some more. The chicken byriani was great. Dishoom is not cheap so needs to be up to scratch on everything. For dessert do not go near the kheer (which is not kheer) stick with the kulfi which is yum.

Came here on the bank Holiday Monday, tried to get reservations for breakfast but couldn't so took the chance of maybe getting in via walk in.Came really early (I'm nocturnal) at around 9:15am.... To come to find a line like a nightclub... So naturally began to queue up.A nice girl came up to us with a tablet to take our details and told us that the wait might be around 60 mins.. Which was nice to know just to decide whether or not it was worth our time to queue up or not, as we had to go to work in a few hours.Anyway the wait was in fact about 40 minutes, which wasn't too bad.Anyway we were sat outside seeing inside must've been full, honestly didn't mind it as it was a nice day which just added to the pleasant experience.Intially there was a roof, but as we were eating the roof folded away like a convertible and it was completely silent which was pretty cool and the sun was shining on me like a sign of God.OK the food, let's get this out the way first... It is made to not offend the western pallette, which basically means not as spicy as authentic or as bold in terms of flavour.... That isn't to say it didn't taste good.We ordered kejriwal the parsi Omelette and all the cooked sides except the bacon... So essentially a vegetarian option.Tasted good, would've liked my fried eggs runny or at least be given a choice.... Arrived over cooked for my liking but still tasted decent because of the seasoning.Chilli cheese toast was nice as well.Ordered the vegan sausages (Taste like a version of Linda mcathy ones from the supermarket just a massive version of it).... Vegan black pudding was OK.... Nice novelty option there.Mushrooms good, beans good.Side note if ordering any of the breakfast sides only order 1 portion for 2 people as its a good portion... Except the beans you might wanna order 2 for 2 people. Indian chai was good, because its unlimited which I didn't know.Wish they would mention that on the menu, because my cup would magically get refilled and I'd be like I aint paying for another one lol.The service was great, warm and friendly and attentive... Left a fiver tip because she did such a great job.Minor little changes I'd like to see, have eggs as a side dish option as originally we wanted the vegan bombay, but wanted real eggs instead, but was no option for that. All in all a great little restaurant that is very pleasant and chilled.Brilliant little place to bring friends and everyone leaving happy and content.

Managed to book a table for breakfast during the Eat out to Help Out scheme during COVID-19. My impressions were that the restaurant was very Covid aware (lots of sanitiser and staff wearing face masks), with effective distancing of tables. Staff busy, but attentive as always whilst the food service was very quick and the chai kept coming! Given the busyness the EOTHO scheme has put on the restaurant, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, I thought the staff exceeded expectations front of house as well as in the kitchen. Thanks everyone!

I’ve visited this branch of Dishoom twice and loved it, fresh food and excellent service. Having now gone back after lockdown and for my birthday it was a different story. My partner requested a table in the veranda on the sofas two weeks ago and on the day, was telephoned, yet was not given a sofa table and we had to ask for the veranda again. Yet other couples were lounging on sofas just drinking casually. The service was very hurried and the waiter, whilst good at his job, kept rushing us to order all our food despite us asking to take it slow. When we ordered our mains they arrived within minutes, as did other people’s on tables near us.The food whilst tasted nice wasn’t cooked as good as previous two visits and next day has given me upset tummy.Prawn starters seemed to be warmed up and not crispy coating, all seemed rushed.I’m honestly very disappointed in Dishoom, as mentioned previously was excellent. Food was freshly cooked and clearly with care. Perhaps they’ve changed chef but definitely not the same food or service as before.Real shame!!

Managed to get a table at Dishoom. Had always wanted to try this highly rated Indian Restaurant and was excited to see what all the excitement was all about. Interior was ok but nothing special. Service was very good. Sadly the food was just ok. Fairly limited menu. My wife and I shared small plates. The Chili chicken was super salty and the house speciality’Black Dahl’ was tasteless. Disappointed.

I went for breakfast with my 6 month old baby. Ordered The Vegan Bombay for the first time, it was really nice, didn’t think much of the akuri or the sausage, however the black pudding was delicious! Social distancing and other regulations - Hand sanitiser is at the door operated by a foot pedal, you are asked to sanitise you’re hands on arrival. All staff are wearing face masks. So I was seated on a table set up for 4, I was shown to the table and where to sit with my baby in the pushchair, there was a table right next to me, and I did wonder if that would be used or if it was one that was not in use for social distancing purposes. I thought nothing of it and got my breakfast pretty fast as I knew what I wanted already. All cutlery and napkins are covered in brown paper bags in a glass and uncovered at the table when they are served to you. I was enjoying my breakfast and pushing my baby at the same time, and a waiter had shown a single person to the table right next to me with my pushchair within a very close proximity to my baby. As I was thinking of this, I am assuming a manager came to me and asked me if I would move to the other side of the table with my baby where the cash register was. I understood, but was quite annoyed as I was in the middle of eating my breakfast whilst pushing my baby’s pram to keep him entertained. It would have been easier for the single person to be moved, especially the fact the person was seated after me and by staff who clearly saw my pushchair already there and another free table very close by. After moving I quickly tried to finish my breakfast, but whilst I sat next to the cash register with my baby most closest to it, 5 members of staff in total had come and gone fiddling around with taking things out under the cash register, inches away from my baby so I thought It was a cheek for the manager to explain about government guidelines to me when she asked me to move. I am a regular at Dishoom, not just the Shoreditch branch, going as a couple, with friends and organising Christmas events for large parties. I love dishoom, the food and customer service and so I was excited to eat here again since the pandemic for the first time with my 6month old baby, but I was left extremely disappointed with what happened. I really wanted to pay and leave, but just didn’t want to cause a scene.

It was my mate Matt’s birthday so we decided to go to come here for a nice feed. Besides the whole “eat out to help out” thing we thought it was a good idea. We know a few of the workers so it was a good chance to test their skills and see them in action. All the staff even our friends where very welcoming and helpful. Theme of the night seemed to be ‘blue jeans’ but everyone was well dressed. It was time for food and that’s where my experience went up a notch. The bloke suggesting meals was spot on and confident in is opinion. Food come out quick and went down even quicker. Holy full! Only issue was my mate mike taking my food but that’s neither here nor there. In summary I felt comfortable with my environment no yuckness what so ever and left feeling satisfied not only with the food but the experience that the dishoom shoredich team brings. Oh and Matt was happy too.

I went to the venue on July 13th for dinner. And it was just perfect. From the moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat. First, when you step in, you feel completely transported with the decorations, furniture, the plants, the essences and the music. All of the staff members were very friendly. However I would like to point out our waitress Iwo, for the outstanding service she has given me. I was always a bit worried that my low tolerance for spices would alter my experience at the restaurant. I indicated my concerns to Iwo and she has given me the best advices in terms of dishes to pick accordingly. The cheese naan, the dahl and pau baji were so flavourful and interesting to taste. Iwo always checked on us at the right time and without being overwhelming. It was just amazing. Thank you so much. (The Negroni as well as exceptional).

Panos who is excellent from booking team was consistently helpful with our understanding reservations at Dishoom Shoreditch. Panos sent me items as discussed during booking that we found highly thoughtful & intriguing. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Atache, she informed us of a dining activity before taking us to a lovely table. She explained how the breakfast worked, took our vegan breakfast naan order & gave us the irresistible bottomless chai with our meal type, she was great. Yanis the manager came over, welcomed us, we conversed about the history, the Irani family, the rustic internal venue itself, he gave us some special elements making our breakfast experience very special. Amadios was very cordial and always tended to our dining needs with warmth and detailed approach such as all the team members did. The whole vegan breakfast naan meal & chai was delicious to say the least, the atmosphere was warm & inviting and the team were friendly, hospitable & amazing

I love Dishoom and have been many times but recently I've had to follow a Gluten Free diet and I've heard that Dishoom are really good about that sort of thing. And they sure are! They have the menu online any way so you can have a look before you go and check that you can eat certain things. I was excited that i could still eat and Dhal because its amazing. Once you're at the restaurant let the waiting staff know of your allergies and they not only bring you a dedicated menu but also the bible which lists all the ingredients of each dish and whether it contains Gluten or may contain Gluten etc. There is still such a wide range of dishes i could have and some of my favorites from before being Gluten Free. If only the Okra fries were GF as i love them! They even have GF beer which is awesome...Daura Damm. We ordered way too much as always but just about managed to finish it all apart from few gunpowder potatoes (these are awesome). Wish i'd taken them home!!! We always dine at Dishoom and it's so nice that i can still have a great meal even being Gluten Free. Thank you to the waiting staff and kitchen staff who were very helpful and understanding. See you soon!

My friends and I have all visited here multiple times and is a very easy go to restaurant with multiple branches. However, this was my first Dishoom breakfast and what a treat! I'm pescatarian so was spoilt for choice with many vegetarian and vegan options.I opted for an egg naan with sides to share. Mushrooms, masala beans, vegan black pudding and beyond meat sausages. The last two pleasantly surprised me... they were packed with flavour and absolutely delicious! Really couldn't fault my breakfast or the brilliant service.I was able to order house chai with oat milk too, which meant I didn't miss out although a bit too sweet for me.Overall a really wonderful lazy Sunday morning with friends over a delicious breakfast in one of our favourite venues. The only downside is the wait for a table : ( A system with reservations would surely work better.

The interior is a bit dark, nothing special it doesn’t have the elegance of the ‘cafes’ it aspires to. Menu choices nothing special also we had the lamb Boti, chicken ruby, nan, rice, dhal. Table really small and I felt a bit cramped. Cheap tables chairs. Food nice enough but nothing special. (Detect a them?)The plate was really small not warmed! Food quickly cooled and was lukewarm. I may actually score even lower , sorry but there is a lot better out there.

I’ve been here before, it’s a lovely place to eat for an occasion. This time it was very busy for a Sunday but the staff were very friendly. We sat down for around 30 minutes until we got a table. The food was delicious, the portions seemed smaller than usual though, particularly the masala prawns which were tiny. The naan was delicious as usual and the daal and Roti. It is a bit expensive when you add the service charge, however the atmosphere is great and you pay for the location. My only criticism is that the desserts and some of the main dishes are small, and for the price you pay these need to be bigger.

food decidedly average... you read all the hype and therefore expect food with flavours of spice and heat...what you actually get is fairly lacking in both yet the staff try and convince you it's special. we had lamb chops which basically were burnt so badly the marinade couldn't be tasted, curries and Dahl that were no more impressive than any local take away and breads which were barely passable. As we'd been taken out by a client we didn't complain but it was all quite poor. save yourself the line and extra cost...Tayabs is far better in my opinion

We love Dishoom. Have been coming here since it first opened and just keep coming back. Yes the queues and waiting times are longer but that's because the food never fails to excite. My favs and go to on the menu, Chicken Ruby, Black Dhal, Chilli cheese toast, massala prawns, lamb chops, chilli corn...... and the list goes on. Staff are knowledgable, fun and always happy to recomend. Service is swift ( turn around of tables demands it). If I have any gripe its the waiting time waiting in a ver busy bar area, although the bar staff are definitely some of the friendlist and experienced I have come across in a restaurant. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. Shoreditch we love you, Kings Cross and Covent Garden too!

My friend and I visited last night for dinner. When we arrived, we were told there was a maximum 80 minute wait for a table and you’re not allowed to put your name down, go away and come back, you have to stay in the queue. In the queue, you are served chai lattes free of charge which are tasty and is a brilliant touch. You first queue outside and then you get a buzzer and wait in the bar where you can order drinks. We were eventually sat down after 90 minutes which was a little over the estimated time but I wasn’t too bothered about an extra 10 minutes. We ordered the vegetable samosas, chicken tikka, chicken ruby Murray, garlic nann, some rice and the black Dahl. The only thing I wasn’t that amazed by was the black Dahl which was surprising as people seem to rave about it. The flavour of everything else was beautiful. We also shared the chocolate pudding with chilli ice cream which was incredible and I’d recommend people order. Our server was great too, really enjoyed it but wish the wait wasn’t so long!
