Dish Deli & Kitchen in Test Valley

We were greeting with a lovely smile from Eloise this morning and if fact all of the team were really cheerful which is uplifting. The service and breakfast was superb as usual. The kitchen always turned out a perfect poached egg or 2. Still our favourite cafe! Well done Cam and team.

The lunches here are generally rather fine and they do lovely quiches served with Salad leaves and « Coleslaw ». The size of the Coleslaw portion has become ridiculously small recently. About an egg cup full (half an espresso cup) - hardly smears the plate. I asked for a large portion and paid £2 for an extra portion. What I got was another egg cup full. Not impressed. Is Coleslaw so expensive that £4 only buys you a proper spoonful? M’thinks they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Very disappointed I had to pay for oat milk especially as I don’t get charged at other places. Clearly Dish are not keen in providing cakes or items for people with allergies

What a diamond find. Had the most delicious meal I've had for a long time. Great service too, hope to go back.

I can't say what the food was like because we never got to try it. Waited 20 mins for a table and even though tables were available, the staff told us they couldn't push them to accommodate 5 people and we would have to wait til the only table that could seat 5 was available. This table was occupied by a couple and a baby and didn't seem to be moving any time soon. The staff could have been more helpful and certainly could have been more pleasant. After 20 mins we left and went to Cork and Bean across the road where the service was excellent.

Visited at 10:30am ilon a Saturday morning. Ordered the Eggs Royale. Came out in good time and the team member was really friendly. For the price, it needed a little more. Perhaps some greenery; sprinkle of parsley or some spinach would have finished it off. Staff member wasn’t wearing a fresh apron and that is something which we always look out for. Nice vibe, happy to return

Visited with my partner and grandparents for lunch during a busy period on a Saturday. They were able to seat and serve us very quickly. The food was delicious and we would definitely go back!

This was a treat for my friend’s birthday and we were not disappointed. Welsh rarebit was absolutely delicious, my friend had the black pudding. Honestly both plates were so clean it was embarrassing! Will definitely go again, oh and the coffee was soooo good. Thank Dishdeli for being such a lovely place for our brunch.

Food excellent, thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. Two things let it down. Firstly they seem to have a ventilation issue in the kitchen and had to open the front door to clear the air, second the waiting staff need hygiene training. Stroking a dog’s muzzle, wiping one’s nose with your hand and coughing into your hand and then serving food without washing your hands is not acceptable.

Love ‘The dish’ particularly the quiches. Nice atmosphere, staff attentive and quick. The deli has nice range of food, would recommend to meet for breakfast/lunch with friends

Visited with two friends on Saturday before attending the Model Railway Show. The breakfast was amazing - easily one of the best I've had, especially the sausages were particularly delicious. Millie who served us did a great job and would visit again in a hearbeat. Thank you

My partner and I visited for lunch on Wednesday. It was very busy - I think we were lucky to get a table(which I suppose is a good sign! :D). But we were served by a very attentive waiter and he seemed to be keeping everybody else happy. Food also totally scrumptious. Would recommend to all.

I had a great eggs benedict breakfast here. The service was excellent. The coffee and orange juice was good too! I will come back to try the lunch menu soon.

Lovely food and cakes served. comfortable atmosphere. reasonably priced menu with lots to offer What lets it down is the service is shocking! very slow to do everything. we were taken to our table straight away but waited about 10 minutes for someone to take our order. then when we asked for they bill, they brought over the receipt but then disappeared for 10 minutes! staff walk by and ignore you (not sure if intentional but very frustrating as you try to make eye contact to wave them over, but you get ignored). Restaurant wasn’t particularly busy so that cannot be used as an excuse as to why. General customer service is lacking- no checking in, no polite small talk. only thing that lets it down.

My grandfather and I I had to do a little bit of shopping and decided to stop off at the dish deli, I must say it was absolutely outstanding, the food was full of flavour and tasted amazing, the cappuccinos are also excellent, I am thoroughly happy with the experience I have had at dish deli, The service was also Top class I would like to thank all the staff for the service!

We often come here and on the whole it is a pleasant experience. Only gripe is their peculiar reluctance to provide sugar! Is there a shortage in Romsey? We always have to ask for it, and then it is brought in two skinny little sachets...

Such a lovely cafe and deli! We went around 1pm on a Saturday and we were seated straight away - the service was fantastic and very accommodating with my mums gluten free allergy. They made her feel normal; so many other places end up making...

This place is consistently good with food, presentation and customer service! Everything they do, they do well.

Nice vegetarian breakfast, nice décor, good service. No parking in street but plenty of car parks nearby, probably Waitrose / Alma Road car parks being the nearest and easy to walk through.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, popped in and had a croissant with butter and jam and a large pot of tea. Very reasonably priced. Even the butter and jam tasted better than anything I’ve tasted. Other peoples food looked fab, was jealous I wasn’t hungry enough...

Very popular spot but they squeezed us in. Good, friendly service. A varied brunch menu (I had the club sandwich and one daughter had the eggs benedict) with a children's options available but wish there was option to add salad or veg to the kids...

Just had the Dish english breakfast here this morning, and it was SO good. Really tasty ingredients, perfectly cooked, not greasy, good value. I've tried everywhere probably in Romsey and surrounding area and I'd rate this the best. Lovely pot of tea too.

Had a lovely brunch at dish today. The service was amazing! At some places you wait ages to be seated, to order and for it to arrive but Cameron wasn’t messing around! He was the only server as I think someone may have called in...

Attended Saturday 2.25pm and on entry staff very quickly told us cafe shutting at 3. Reluctant to let us in but relented so we could get a drink. Couldn't possibly grill a teacake as 'kitchen closes at 2'. Six more people turned away for drinks...

I have been coming here for years. It’s the perfect place to come for lunch or afternoon tea. Food delicious, and service good too.

The food here is really good. Everything is freshly prepared and good quality food. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was due to the price on the brunch menu. Normally its a fairly reasonable price but the quantity doesn't match the price of the food.Both of us enjoyed our food but felt we should of had more and left still hungry. Staff are nice and decently decorated inside. Maybe next time we will try something from the breakfast menu.

The menu is really good and they cater for different allergies and food styles eg vegan. The food is cooked from scratch and is high quality. It is always very busy and you may have to wait a little to get a seat but well...

We went to Dish Deli & Kitchen on a busy Saturday lunchtime. You're spoilt for choice, as the menu is extensive and all along the walls are blackboards with additional specials. The crispy chicken sandwich was tasty, and the ham and cheese toastie was delicious! You could tell the ingredients used were of high quality. Considering all tables were full, service was quick and friendly, and food came promptly.

Met a friend for lunch and we both enjoyed a dish from the specials board - the smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast with sweet chilli sauce, and shared a large pot of tea. Lovely friendly venue, great service, and tasty sensible portions - just right, thank you so much :-)

One of the more pricier cafes in Romsey but the quality of the food matches the price. Have visited a few times over the years with friends as it caters to allergies (gluten free and nut allergy) Can get busy at peak times!

5 of us ate brunch here. It was very busy and bustling but we were served promptly and our drinks and food arrived without any delays.The staff were all very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Also a good sense of humour and in spite of having an extremely busy workload they remained happy, calm and unflustered - a real credit.The food was nothing short of incredibly good. I don't think I have ever had a better breakfast either in taste, presentation or quality. It really was that good.I found myself trying to think of how my food or overall experience could have been improved upon - and I could not come up with anything - they got everything 100%.This is not a cheap eat -- but I felt it was excellent value for money.Thanks to the whole team and very well done!

We live in Romsey and have eaten here a few times over the years. I like the food, I like the setting, I like that it is independent. It can be a little expensive, but it's nice and spacious and when there are four of you some of the smaller independent cafes in Romsey lack the seating. However it has an air of arrogance and some of the the staff can come across as less than welcoming as I have noticed on a few occasions. On our most recent visit a couple of weeks ago we visited as a group of 4 it was quiet with no staff about when we arrived, so we walked through to the seating area, chatting to each other and genuinely missing the ankle level sign saying to wait to be seated. As we were sitting down at a table the waitress then rushed in with a questioning look on her face and a sarcastic patronising "oh, did you not see the sign saying to wait?". Well obviously not, as otherwise we would have waited.The place was practically empty, maybe one or two other groups in the whole cafe, so why make a dig for us seating ourselves? It was then, we have run out of this and that so basically hope you don't want too much. It was that point I was starting to wonder why I was bothering. I am looking forward to Josies opening then perhaps the air of arrogance will be swapped for appreciation towards customers!

We have our Monday meetings every week in Romsey and like to use independent cafes. The staff at dish were friendly and welcoming. Whilst we ate our delicious breakfast and drank coffee we worked at our laptops, which the staff didn't mind. we definitely recommend visiting this friendly warm, clean deli/café and we will be returning soon ourselves. Thankyou lovely dish deli staff for making us feel welcome!

This was our fourth visit to Dish Deli, food is so yummy!Its a really nice place to go for lunch. The staff are all welcoming and seem to enjoy what they do. It's a real busy place but once seated the service is fast.Looking forward to a further visit in the not too distant future.

We were in Romsey and decided to have lunch. Dish looked to be the best option in the town centre and didn’t disappoint. Staff friendly and efficient, service good. Food very good. Will definitely remember for the future.

I have lunched there with my two closest friends more times than you can shake a stick at. The food is always excellent whether you are having soup and a roll, quiche and salad, or afternoon tea. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. The fact that it is a deli as well where you can pick up some really lovely bits and bobs, is an added extra.

We arrived in Romsey early and asked a local where we could get some breakfast. She suggested Dish as the best place to go. So we did and it was charming and lovely. Avocado on sourdough, from the specials board, was a delight and a change from the normal breakfast fayre. The staff are really friendly and it’s as far from a standard chain eaterie as you can get. Lovely place.

We ordered a pre wedding brunch on Saturday for our wedding party. Mike gave us menu suggestions for finger food and a deli board. The food was imaginative and delicious- salmon with caviar, goats cheese and roasted peppers, avocado and micro cress, watercress and cheese scones, and much more. They even gave us full size pots of cucumber pickle and chilli jam.Everything was ready when we arrived early Saturday morning and was greatly enjoyed. High quality ingredients were used throughout and the portion sizes were generous. I can definitely recommend them.

Went in there to visit there cheese counter staff completely ignored me waited thinking they might be busy but instead refused to speak to me at all even tho they must of known I was there as the place was empty eventually walked out.

Yummy advocado and eggs for brunch and a pot of tea. Good quality produce, fresh, well cooked and presented. Nice service and selection of products from the deli shop to treat yourself with.

The menu in this place is varied and interesting and we found it hard to choose because it all sounded so good. My soup was chunky and full of flavour, and my son’s halloumi burger disappeared rapidly too. Get some chunky chips on the side - best chips we’ve had in ages. Friendly staff made for a relaxed atmosphere. Top marks!

Went for a family lunchtime treat, there were seven of us and we had a range of meals and drinks, all freshly prepared so this is not fast food! Would recommend the quiche and also the smoothies! Staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean and also had a takeaway deli area.

Have not eaten here before, only two other people in the restaurant at the time we walked in , had a sign wait to be seated, WHY ! Can see this at busy times but for the life of god not at 9:30 am , just opened so one would expect the place to be clean the floor was grubby as was our table. The waitress tried to sit us in a dark corn & made it clear we sat where she wanted us to sit ( why was this ) plenty of empty tables. We ordered coffee I took mine black it came like dish Water ( sorry pun not intended ) I got up went to the counter & ask for it to be a tad stronger ( not much to ask ) WELL you would have thought I ask to steal the girls purse a very grumpy girl ( not our waitress ) went to GREAT lengths to say I would have to pay 30p extra as it was a one shot coffee policy (give me strength) I said I didn’t care how much she wanted just give me a coffee that tastes of coffee, I didn’t like her off hand attitude ( any thing for another penny) I wanted to leave however him in doors persuaded me to stay ... my eggs was so crispy on the bottom I had to slice the tops off , the soda toast really nice , him indoors didn’t rank his mush either.. would we return ... NOT A HOPE IN HELL

Went for lunch with a friend. Have eaten here before but this time was disappointing. I had a goats cheese sandwich. The ciabatta bread was dry and you definitely needed the steak knife they gave you. Very stingy with the goats cheese. The floor next to our table was covered in food and not cleaned up whilst we were there. More staff eating their lunch rather than serving.

We had lunch here on a weekday and it was buzzing: obviously very popular but the kitchen and staff were in control and efficient. My sister had a Latte and the Colcannon Potato Cakes which she loved. I chose a quiche with a side of "skinny fries". The quiche was a bit disappointing, dry and slightly overcooked, the coleslaw tasted quite sharp, the fries were not "skinny" and bland, but the dressed salad leaves were fantastic. Service was excellent, friendly, polite and attentive. There were Daily Specials on a blackboard but it is very close to the till where customers who were paying blocked visibility. I have limited mobility and was cramped into a tight space so never really got to see the Specials. However, it would be difficult to find a place on any wall that suited everyone.

This is another interesting place to eat or just have a quick coffee in Romsey, it has a country kitchen atmosphere, the food is unpretentious and good, the service friendly.

Stopped in Romsey for a coffee, found this place, coffee and cake for one and a smooth and eggs benidict for me. It also has a deli. Good service, good range on a menu.

We were lucky to get a seat in this very popular cafe and deli and I can see why. Great choice of food, nicely presented, clearly home made, no microwaved mass production here, good portion sizes and sensibly priced.

I’ve visited this delicatessen on several occasions since moving to Hampshire and can honestly say the food is first class. I would most definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you get the chance

So had lunch here with a business associate. Food was good but it is the only place I’ve come across where they have 3 sizes of a flat white - don’t choose the large , it wasn’t good!

I use Dish Deli several times a week to have either my breakfast or lunch .

An unwelcoming, overly priced and underwhelming food. And when you leave no one says goodbye or thank you. So I suggest you frequent somewhere else until they get their act together!

If you are visiting Romsey or live locally and want a good place to meet for a coffee or delicious food, then Dish is the place to go! They have a fantastic deli along side a well decorated cafe! The staff are always friendly. The brunch specials the I had was smashed avocado, sourdough, poached eggs and vine tomatoes. It was lush! Looking forward to my next visit already.

The smashed avocado and egg on toast is delicious and their milkshakes are to die for! Not the cheapest option but definitely worth it.

Found your Deli by accident....knew it was good as lots of people eating there. Nice appetising food. Good service. Would recommend.

Hubby and I went for a quick lunch. Service quick, nice to see the place busy. Light and airy and lovely touch to have little bits of bread to dip into flavoured oils in the area next to restaurant. The Greek salad was amazing- very generous with Feta, well dressed and the olive tapenade was scrumptious. Hubby enjoyed his quiche as well. Will definitely return

The food was quite nice, however most of the knives and forks were still dirty with food and stains on. Service was not bad but a little cold. Overall I won’t be rushing back.

We visited Romsey and fancied lunch. I wanted a salad as it was a hot day. We came across this cafe. The food was good and we were both absolutely stuffed. The waitress service was fast. My only recommendation is perhaps add steak to the menu? I would recommend giving this cafe a try,

I had heard about their award winning coffee so we went to investigate. We weren't disappointed. We had a warm welcome from friendly staff and although we didn't order food, we could see the portion sizes which looked ample. The food was nicely presented. Next time we go to Romsey we hope to have time to try the food.

Stopped for lunch delighted when we found we could have a table for two even we had not thought of booking a table. they keep the table open for 15 minutes of time slot. .

Great brunch today with friends. Food always consistently good at Dish and service is excellent. Enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit this time. Delicious although chef must guard against the frequent use sour dough making dishes dry.

I visited Dish Deli and Kitchen for brunch. The welcome was warm and the service was efficient. I had the smashed avocado poached eggs and roasted tomatoes on toast which was delicious. I will certainly be returning to Dish Deli again in the near future. Very reasonably priced also.

We had a very enjoyable lunch here a few weeks ago! It was busy but service was prompt. My choice was a bit odd (chorizo sausage sandwich; a bit too gherkiny for me) but everybody enjoyed their meal. Definitely worth a visit

I have now had the pleasure of visiting Dish in Latimer Street, Romsey on four separate occasions, twice for breakfast / brunch and twice for lunch. The town is replete with several of the usual chains, but am delighted to have tried and then returned to this establishment. The space is divided in two, half for a take-away deli / shop, the rest for a sit-down waited service area. It appears to be always busy - and exceptionally so at peak times.

Went to Deli kitchen to grab a light lunch while working from home. It was fairly busy but had tables yet as soon as the lady knew I was solo said there is no tables available. Well their advertising says buy local, I ended up and will be going to costa as at least they welcome you

We were told about this place on our weekend visit to Romsey for a book launch so we hunt it out. So glad we did. The food was amazing. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Today we visited for lunch don't get me wrong it was very nice.

The food is lovely here and there are lots of different items on the menu that you wouldn't find in other cafes. The food is a bit pricey though- £8.95 for eggs royale is a bit steep. Also if you don't like sour dough bread don't go here because nearly everything comes with it! I used to bring my Nan here but she finds the sough dough too hard to cut now and the only option really for her was quiche, again very expensive at £8.50!

Yummy food, excellent coffee and wonderful service. What more could you ask for! A personal favourite of mine is the Eggs Royale - super yummy. I always use this place for my brunch needs... And I always will!

Met my friend during her lunch break for a light bite and although we had to wait 5minutes for a free table the service was remarkably fast and very pleasant. We both had the fish finger sandwich and fries and, as always, it was very enjoyable.Menu offers a good choice of food at reasonable prices and the staff are so welcoming and organised. Gets busy but that is because it is SO Good!

Came here for a fantastic lunch; great menu selection (lots of vegetarian options), big portions and fantastic quality! Exceeding my expectations...can't wait to go back!!

Had breakfast here yesterday with our grandson & partner. Great choice well presented and delicious. Friendly staff and a cosy place to eat on a dull day. Will be back and must try the coffee next time which I hear is great.

The sourdough toast butter and jam is normally a real treat but recently noticed that after increasing the price the portion of butter has been really reduced and the quality of the jam is not as good...shame...the coffee is brilliant

Pleasent little cafe serves light lunches, cofee very good and has a selection of sweet treats, also provides a Deli counter under the same roof, a little busy during the lunch time priod.
