Excellent as per usual even though we added stuff when we came to collect it was not a problem for these guys.

The food was absolutely amazing And the portion were big! I’m not normally big on Indian and never really know what to order, but Ishlam helped me choose the perfect dish. I highly reccomend this place. Ishlam and staff were very great.

Came here with a group of friends for the banquet night menu. It's amazing value - a starter, main dish, side dish, rice or naan and coffee for about £14. The service was absolutely spot on - I didn't feel rushed at all and they were very friendly. I ordered the lamb tikka to start - this was epic. tender and full of flavour. I then ordered a Tarka dal, chicken phal (not on the menu but they did it for me ..!) and a keema naan. The food was piping hot and was exactly what I expected. Very traditional, well seasoned and a good level of heat from the chilli. I would recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be coming back!! Thank you!

We ordered a takeaway for a family meal yesterday. The order was taken correctly and arrived at the time promised. After a bad experience with another restaurant we were a bit apprehensive but remembered a previous good meal we had here a few years ago. The food was excellent! Perfect temperature, beautifully cooked. Tasted fresh and flavours excellent. They added extra accompaniments and salad - for which we were not charged . Very impressed and looking forward to our next meal.

I’m currently staying in Wheathampstead while visiting my father in his care home. I’ve eaten at Dildar 4 times already in the last week, sampling different things on the menu. I can personally recommend the Prawn Puree, Chicken Balti, Chichen Tikka Madrass (maybe a little hot for some), Chicken Tikka Nagga (also hot), and the Chef’s Special dish. The naan breads are perfectly cooked, light and fluffy. All dishes are cooked fresh and taste great, the food here really is amazing! The service is also excellent, with friendly attentive staff always at your service. I highly recommend Dildar!

Love this restaurant they really know how to cook a decent tasty curry the midweek banquet deal is such good value for money as well I highly recommend it, we eat here quite alot and have got to know the waiters they are so friendly.

The food is always good here Service excellent However I nearly choked on my after eight when we got the bill We had been charged £9 for 2 diet cokes. We questioned how much they were and he said £4.50 each. We had eaten here 2 weeks prior and the bill was £4.70 cheaper for exactly the same thing, so in the space of 2 weeks the drinks had gone up by £2.35 each, what a rip off

I have been coming to this Indian for years and they always have lovely food. When you eat in, the staff are always friendly. However one thing I would say if you call up and order a take away the staff can get very rude when you ask to pay on card, and have a few times demanded tips at the door. After reading a poor review on here we were a bit concerned about the quality of food, but there was no need to be. We ordered a takeaway of a variety of mains and sides, and all were delicious. Highly recommend Dildar 2 - the dishes had excellent flavours and we returned to them all the following day to finish them off. Very tasty!

A friend mentioned he was getting a take away from here. Okay On my radar. How I wish it wasn’t. I’ve nothing good to say about the food and in all honesty, the minute you said, with you in 20 mins my expectations levels diminished. If it’s 8 mins to drive the food over and 3 minutes to faf about that’s 9 to cook and send. Not sure why I said cook. This is without doubt or exception the worst food I’ve eaten in a long while and I really wish I’d not gone through with the order. I’ve nothing good to say, if you wish,I have half of it in the fridge (vain hope it will get better with age) which I’m happy to return if you’ll give me half the money back? I’ve titled this disappointed but it should have read, bitterly disappointed. It was devoid of flavour and looked totally unappetising. There is no way a chef has prepared what you sent me. Apologies if I seem upset but please take this review as a frank account of what you are doing. Vindaloo, just disgusting gloop Sag paneer, more gloop and equally inedible. actually that’s not quite true I will try again tomorrow. Had I thrown it away you would have got terrible not poor. Awful

I just popped into Dildar for a meal one evening while away on business. Greeted nicely upon entering, although it was very quiet, with only two other people in there. Had a vegetable samosa for starters, which was strangely crispy at one end which leads me to think it had been microwaved - disappointing. The main course was slightly better but had some odd flavours in it. Big portions though, if that matters to you. Certainly wouldn't make a point of going back.

We’ve been going to the Dildar for several years and it’s never occurred to me to write a review. I can honestly say that we have never been disappointed or felt that the quality of service or the food itself has ever dropped. We’ve been to more highly rated restaurants nearby but they do t measure up. Definitely 5 stars every visit!

Everything about the Dildar 2 makes it worth a visit! We went on a Thursday night which happens to be banquet night. Amazing food, fantastic service and a nice atmosphere

We are fairly frequent visitors but on this occasion a little disappointed as the starters were fine but the main course - Dildar House Special - somewhat bland and lacking in meat though with plenty of vegetables! As always staff friendly and efficient as they were relatively busy and tyhis slight lapse will not put us off going again.

This is NOT your standard buffet with trays of over cooking food. This is way better.They ask you if you want mild, medium or hot; and dietary restrictions and then they serve you freshly prepared meals from their normal menu.The food is excellent and plentiful, and one round of food will be more than enough.For reasons which make no sense to me, it is poorly attended, so if you want excellent food at a very good price in a very pleasant location, go and give it a try.They also treat single dinners very well.

Very quiet Monday evening but as always attentive and friendly staff and good food. Only papadams and main courses for us this evening but both very tasty and piping hot. Overall very good value and noticeable they have a steady flow of take-aways.

been to this curry house on multiple occasions but this the first time I have left a review. I have always found the staff to be cheerful and engaging and the food is amazing. Certainly will continue to visit with friends and family.

Exceptionally sweet curry, decorated like it's still the 1980s. Staff were friendly and helpful enough but this place could really do with an update, both in food and decor.

I visit Dildar 2 at least once a month with a large group of friends and we take advantage of the banquet night as the portions are absolutely huge.

We asked for the restaurant to “ give us food for 3 not very hungry people”. There was enough for the three of us for two meals and some still left over. I felt a cost of 45 pounds for three not very hungry people was a ripoff and felt the restaurant took advantage of the trust we placed in them - never again. On the positive side the food was nice

Been to many curry houses over the years, dildar is fine, but when it comes to certain dishes excellent, tandoori King prawn being one. However, what they do to a five star standard is veg, daal excellent, okra always fresh (from Luton, I asked), generous sautéed spinach and the veg thali is great value. If you're a vegetarian or like me you like your interesting veg, this place is excellent, meat curries good, but so are a lot of places. The veg is where they excel.

First visit....and last. Would have been great if I needed oil for a swim. Much better available for the money.

Had a meal this evening. Was ok, not the best food. Service was however brilliant. Drinks a bit of a con. Very over priced and not clear on price for the measure. Banquet nights where I normally go include poppadoms, but here we paid £5.80 just for them with sauces. So a supposed cheap meal out turned out to be rather expensive!

Without booking we called in and were greeted warmly and indeed the service throughout was fine and friendly. We chose the set meal for two, largely chicken dishes as well as rice and vegetables and the starters and good value at £29.95. A little surprised to see few people in there but their loss! We vwill go again.

We went for the Sunday buffet but found we were the only people in the restaurant. Instead of having the buffet we were given a selection of starters and mains on our table. The food was great and there was a good selection for the tastebuds (4 children and 2 adults). The portions were very generous and it was very reasonably priced. I definately intend to go again.

Very nice restaurant the Currys are tasty and the waiters were very friendly and attentive. If you like Indian meals then I would recommend.

I usually get my takeaway from here ... so last weekend (19/I/17)i had couple of mates over and thought I’d order from my usual (dildar2) I was not impressed food was DISGUSTING, there was no taste in the curries and my mates didn’t like it at all !!!! the only thing that was nice were the poppadums ... I was really surprised because there food is usually superb must be a change in chef I guess because there is a massive change in taste and flavour... don’t think I’ll risk ordering again 😡

There is a person in our family who shuns restaurants if they’re empty and yet, we’ve all ventured bravely that someone has to be first! We are so glad we didn’t walk by the empty restaurant tonight- it was 615pm so we were early!

Really great food.Rarely have a curry but we were lucky that this meal was delicious. The restaurant had good decor and the waiters were efficient and pleasant. Will return when next in the village

I really enjoyed my food once it arrived, I had chicken dansak and my partner a bhuna. I preferred the dansak to the bhuna, which was a bit sweet for my taste. However, to get to that stage we'd waited for 3-5 minutes to be seated as they initially thought we were collecting a take-way, sat for 20 minutes before someone even took our order (to be fair my partner still had his menu open, so perhaps they thought he was still choosing) and another 45 minutes before our food arrived. The service was fine in terms of offering us extra drinks while we waited but we were there to eat. I would eat here again, but maybe try to avoid Saturday night.

We live locally and probably visit Dildar at least once a month. The staff are friendly and the food is always good. The kitchen makes an effort to make the food to your taste if requested (I often try a new dish but get it Vindaloo hot)

Been going to dildar2 for 7 years now and always have a great meal. I have never been disappointed, it's the family's go to place for all occasions! Even being a vegetarian they have always catered and provided amazing veggie curries!

La comida estaba bien, nada increíble para escribir sobre el servicio era muy bueno. Nada todo bien merece una visita si increíble con ganas de un indio.

Habíamos oído (y leído) cosas buenas sobre la comida y el personal de este restaurante, así que estábamos deseando ir, pero fue decepcionante: el servicio era muy lento, el personal parecía desinteresado y la comida era tan salada que casi incomible.

BEST INDIAN EVER!!! We get a takeaway every weekend without fail .SO good ! Never had a average one .wont get Indian from anywhere else now -Lovely staff . Korma and a lamb Bhuna are our favourites x

Sunday night and although we had planned the usual meal, my partner and I opted for a more relaxed evening in front of our fire and TV so ordered a takeaway from Dildar.It arrived within half an hour and was hot, well packaged and reasonably priced.Once opened and started, it soon became apparent that the taste, quality and flavour was sublime !Great Chicken Tikka Nagar, Mushroom Pilau (wonderful), Saag Aloo, Tandoori Prawns .... perfection in taste.Will definitely use again.

Visited this Restaurant on Sunday 11/2/17 we ordered the Sunday buffet and was informed that it would be a little time for the food to be cooked as they cook all their food fresh on order my reply was to the waiter If something is good it is worth waiting for he did not let us down the food was amazing and the portions were big and we had a lot of dishes served to us it look more like a banquet and the price was so reasonable I would recommend this Restaurant to anybody who appreciates good food and service

Went to Dildar2 last Monday (09/1/2017) the food was awful not up to it's normal standards. The food tasted disgusting!! I dine quite often at dildar2 and have never had no complains but last Monday was not good food at all it was rubbish what a waste of my money

I've been eating at the Dildar for 15 years and have seen a decline in the predictability of the food. The main issue is the amount of oil they leave in the dishes when served. However I decided to give it a real go and ended up visiting twice in a week. First instance the food was good...restaurant was quiet, but food was fresh and tasty. Then I took my children. Restaurant was busy with takeaways..food was served and every dish swimming with oil. I spoke to the manager, who knows me well...response was Indian food is oily and if I don't like it don't come back...guess what...I won't be...

Have visited here before with family , but not for a while , looks to have changed a little since last visit but same offers . We had the £10.95 offer which is fantastic value for a huge meal !! , I had the chat , dildar special, keema nan etc , all were beautiful and keema nan lovely !! , very very filling and the best price im aware of for a curry house for the amount you get ! 5/5 for me ! one of the best curries ive had in a long time !

We visited for a birthday celebration meal. The menu was easy to follow and the food was excellent. Hot and tasty. Plates were warmed (very important). Waiters were helpful without being pushy. All made for a first class dining experience.

We always get our takeaway from here! Why would we go anywhere else?Always delivered in 30 mins. always what we ordered, and always GREAT value for money.Have eaten in many times too! friendly staff, clean restaurant, and even happy to make something thats not on the menu!Cannot fault them!
