You could easily walk past this place on Blackstock Rd. Looks very much like a generic Turkish place with stainless pots of stew in the front window, but the Chinese? characters on the menus items is the giveaway. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Food was great. It's kind of familiar, but with a twist. Starter dumplings were great, and Uygur herbal tea was delish. Will definitely go again.

My favorite uyghur restaurant outside of my family’s kitchen in China! Quite honestly the best 大盘鸡 Big Plate Chicken I’ve ever had - definitely the star of the show. Be prepared to wait for a bit during busy hours as the type of dishes served generally take a lot of time to cook. Servings are big! So go with a big ground of people and order a variety of dishes to share and try. Must order: 大盘鸡 Big Plate Chicken,奶茶 Uyghur Milk Tea (slightly savory and served warm)

Food is good however the service was horrible, I’ve been twice now and it’s been bad both times. I have never been to a restaurant where I’ve felt so unwelcome. It’s really hard to enjoy dinner and the experience when the staff ignore basic needs like water and utensils when out to dinner. If you want to try the food I’d recommend takeaway to avoid the poor service.

We ordered the large plate chicken to share between three of us: a chicken and noodle dish in a spicy broth. It was delicious and the sauce was made from whole spices and chillies that are left in the dish and made it rather fragrant.

Food was average (noodles was decent), the customer service was shocking. Very rude chef and lady owner, had a moody face on and was annoyed whenever we asked for items. Awful and beyond disappointing. Pay attention to the vast number of negative Google reviews. I was there with two family members, lured by Time Out’s glowing review. However, I should have started asking questions from when I noticed how empty the place was. The food is tasty, but the experience is completely ruined by the shocking service. Staff are not just unkind – I don’t care for extra smiles or ceremony – they are plain rude, aggressive and resentful if you ask any questions or clarifications about the menu. Queries and mild complaints are greeted with denial, accusations that you are a stressful customer, insults and shouts. Also expect to wait at least 45 minutes for your food to start arriving and to be served at least 20 minutes apart – we were watching each other finishing our meals, before the next person was served. No hope to eat together there, unless you share your dishes as they are brought to the table. Also no explanation on the menu about spiciness. Time Out make light of the waiting times, or the abruptness of the service. However, there is no charm in rudeness. Eating out cannot be just about the food in your plate. It’s an experience you pay for, going from the surroundings to the social interactions with people around you. To waive all this, is taking away from all those restaurateurs who put their heart and soul into making their customers enjoy what they pay for. When we left the restaurant, we felt sick with disappointment. Dilara deserve's 1st place on Time Out's Worst Restaurants in London, if there is such a thing.

Uyghur food: probably not known by most but to those that do, it is something magical. Shaped by its location at the crossroads of Asia and the religion of its people. It is a spectrum of influences coming together to form incredibly dishes. I’ve been twice and twice I have ordered Big Plate Chicken. It is spicy and numbing - eat the dried chillis if you dare! The chicken falls off the bone. The potatoes have lost all structural integrity being held together by the intense viscous broth. Said viscosity enables the coating of the thick hand-pulled noodles which have a perfectly chewy texture. What a dish! The lamb kofte are also very good with a classic flavour from the mangal. The same can be said for the cumin and chilli splatted lamb skewers served on fresh naan. These are a bit chewy for my liking but increases the length of time the flavour lasts in your mouth. The lamb buns (name forgotten) are straight out of the tandoor and have the attitude (flavour) to prove it. Then, a classic Pan-Chinese cucumber salad seasoned with the romantic pairing of soy and black vinegar. Finally, I insist you finish with the Uyghur milk tea. It tasks like unsweetened salted caramel. Litres could be drunk if not for the previous onslaught. I asked how they made it but they gave a cheekily guarded answer ie they know I’ll be back for more. A must.

I had a delightful experience at Dilara Uyghur Restaurant in Finsbury Park. The food was exceptional, and it was a unique and enjoyable opportunity to savor Uyghur cuisine, which I hadn't tried before. One of the standout features was the affordability; it was pleasantly inexpensive. What added to the experience was that we didn't need to make advance reservations, making it convenient for a spontaneous dining choice. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to explore new flavors without breaking the bank.

We were warned that the mantis would take 20 mins to arrive, but it took close to an hour. Was rather underwhelming as the dough was thick and undercooked, even though the skins at the bottom had broken, leaving the juices to leak out and the filling dry. The big plate chicken was very tasty, though rather salty. The Uyghur milk tea was nice though. Rather disappointed as the last time we were here, the food was more consistent overall. The staff working at the time we visited didn't speak much English so I don't want to dock too many points for service, but they felt rather aloof even though the restaurant wasn't that busy.

Worst restaurant experience! Visit date 29th September 2023 Apparently, the lady who owns the place was serving and she said bad words about her staff whilst taking our order. I ordered lamb noodles without vegetables. Because I asked few questions about type of noodles, owner very rudely told my female Chinese Muslim companion that I am fussy and if we have kissed or we are dating and told her to be careful. How dare you lady? You can ruin people’s relationships and lives due to your big uncontrolled mouth. I was shocked by her sheer arrogance and bad manners. When food arrived, she didn’t bother to have the veggies removed and told me blatantly that I didn’t request vegetables to be removed. I again ignored as I wanted to be get n done with her place asap. Whilst trying noodles I suspected meat not to be lamb and upon inquiring she casually said it’s beef not lamb ! Surely, I couldn’t eat that anymore. I should sue her for this ! After another 20 mins lamb skewers arrived and when we were just about to leave she brought salad which was left over ( we did order salad but it should have been brought earlier not when you’re closing your restaurant and you decide to earn £6 from left over salad from customers who are already, my friend requested that to taken away as we had left table already ) I have been to many Chinese Muslim restaurants in China but this experience was beyond unimaginable. Their business is running well hence she can decide to bad mouth her stuff. She thinks she can ignore customer requests and give them anything to eat whatever she likes and interfere in their personal lives ! Very bad ! I don’t eat beef due to medical reasons and she did not even bother to apologise or let alone feel sorry for her mistake. To owner lady; Please respect the people who work at your restaurant. Please take food order instructions clearly, if you’re having bad mood, please don’t work. Kindly do not ask personal questions as your silly questions about kissing was beyond professional and ethical. It’s none of your business. Lastly, you could be sued for lying and serving wrong food as some people don’t eat beef due to religious reasons. It was terrible experience After this experience, I want people to be careful from this restaurant owner, staff and customers both. I am giving 1 star because I can’t give any lower but surely I’ll be calling your local council.

Amazing food. Unfortunately, the service is poor. The lady who owns the restaurant is constantly looking angry and has very poor communication skills. She is aggressive and doesn’t know how to deal with people. She never smiles and doesn’t even explain what the food is. The chef is very rude and angry. I was watching the noodle pulling waiting my table. He looked at me and gestured why are you looking at me. He then pulled a nasty face and shrugged his shoulders and gestured to stop looking. If you’re prompting this place for its pulled noodles, why would the chef and the waiter be so angry and aggressive. It’s a shame, the food is amazing but the staff let it down. I would highly recommend to invest in smiling waiters and everyone should go to a course on people management. If you run a restaurant you have to know how to deal with people. Who ever reads this from the restaurant get the staff changed and you will be sitting on a gold mine.

We came for a mid week dinner and the restaurant itself is super basic and there isn't much atmosphere. Between the two of us, we shared the tugure (wasn't a fan), chilli chicken (was way too salty) and the legmen (good). They did give complimentary baklava at the end. story. This is my first time eating Uyghur food. It’s was amazing. We ordered the boiled dumplings. They came with a beautiful dipping sauce. A sauce like I have never experienced before. It was heavenly. We also ordered the Uyghur kebab. The lamb was divine and came with fresh bread. We travelled far to eat this meal. It was worth it dough. We ordered the legmen. Wowsers, hands down the best noodles I’ve ever had. They were so fresh and tasty. You could taste they were freshly Made. The best part of the meal was the menper soman. The taste of the noodles again so fresh. The starch from the pasta made the sauce coat your mouth and what a sauce it was. We also ordered lapang, but I couldn’t appreciate it fully because we had ordered too much food for two people. However the price was still cheap. Roughly 25 pound a head. Very reasonable for fresh, healthy, nutritious food. If I was given the choice to eat only one cuisine for the rest of my life it would be Uyghur food without a shadow of a doubt. We waited a reasonable amount of time for the food and the atmosphere was like if you were invited to your mothers or families house for food. So welcoming. Rahmath ana!!!!! We will return.

I was really looking forward to having some Uyghur food. I was a little disappointed with the overall experience unfortunately. I ordered the Tugure - I liked these, good flavour I order the somosa - pastry was not very nice, tough and meet lacked flavour I ordered the chilli chicken - this for me was my favourite dish, very tasty I ordered the meat plate - this was nice, but there was way too much cloves and star anise, you end chewing without realising which makes it taste not very nice. It came with noodles but they arrive much later than the meat plate, which was a shame as the noodles were very nice. Overall I enjoyed the food, but the customer service was something left to be desired, the restaurant was mostly empty but servers were not very attentive unfortunately. I did order a lot of food and needed to take some away, I asked for the food to taken away and the servers just gave me container’s to do it myself. In normal circumstances I wouldn’t have an issue, but the food had a lot of sauce and was oily so it was very difficult for me box it up. It’s a shame, unfortunately I will not be going again even though the food was decent.

The speed of service was excellent as we told them we were in a hurry (also keep in mind we were the first people there). The portions were also very good! I wouldn't mind coming back again to try some of the other dishes. We had the chicken stew and uyghur polo. Oiler than I'm used to, the polo reminded me of an oiler version of qabuli pilau for reference. A minor room for improvement would be to maybe have more cutlery already on the table as we just had forks.

Racist staffs and horrible service. It becomes terrible after 2022. I'm an old customer since 2021. The staffs used to be very friendly and food was brilliant. However, everything changed after 2022. The last time I went there was in the Ramadan in March 2023. The staffs treated me and my partner rudely, and the owner's husband pointed at my nose and yelled me by saying some swear words in Uyghur. Me and my partner was shocked by their unexpected behaviour at that moment. My partner even cried sadly after we back home. This is what we experienced: 1) We greeted to the restaurant owner nicely by saying 'Salam' when we entered. They ignored us deliberately but they quickly scanned us. They probably knew we had come in. 2) We found a table and sat there. No one came to serve us, even I said 'hi' to the staff. After that we had sat there for nearly half an hour, no one came to serve us, even no one pulled water for us! Because of this, we missed the right time to break the fasting. I stopped the staff and ask for an explanation. They used an excuse that they cannot understand English??? 3) A nice brother near our table heard our complaint, he and his partner friendly passed their dates to us and let us break the fasting ASAP. When we were going to break the fasting and eat, the lady (owner) came and grabbed all the dates from our table. 4) After a few minutes, the owner lady came to our table, and used an impolite and impatient way spoke to us in CHINESE? Excuse me? We don't speak Chinese, madam! We felt very strange and uncomfortable that she spoke rudely to a Kazakh and Kyrgyz couple in Chinese. We've been here before, she knows us, so it's not accidently, she was mean to us. The most terrible thing we faced: 5) Throughout all the unfair treatment above, we decided to leave. Before, we left, I chatted with an Uyghur aunt in the restaurant, and said explained the unfair treatment we experienced to her. The rude owner lady suddenly interrupted our conversation and accused me. A few seconds later, the owner's husband used his index finger point at my nose and yelled at me and my partner by saying Uyghur swear words. It was really bad how they treated other Turkic people. When the man pointed and shouted at us, my partner was controlling her tears and I'm using my whole force to control my anger. After a few seconds dizziness in my head, I asked the owner how dare they treated other Turks awfully. The Uyghur lady (owner) replied me, "This is our service. So what?" This restaurant was great before 2022. The first time when I came here they greeted me friendly and gave me free snacks after meal, and no service charge. The price is getting much higher after 2022. The fact is that the higher price the more terrible service. I've shared my bad experience to the Uyghur Communities and other Muslim brothers, and I find that the restaurant also treated some Uyghur quite rude. No matter customers from which culture, religion, ethnicity, this is not the appropriate way to people, especially it was horrible happened during the Ramadan. BTW, the Chai (milk tea) is not authentic, it tastes like bubble tea. The authentic chai tastes salty. Laghman (noodle) is too greasy and salty.

They do not have a working toilets. I asked the lady again behind the counter by the till I needed to use the toilets please, she replied they do not have toilets (this is illegal for any restaurant that are actively trading for the public to have toilets) I shall report them to the trading standards agency for misrepresentation of their terms and and conditions in the trade. When I left the restaurant unhappy about the treatments I received, when I turned my back again to them I found they were laughing in between them, then I decided to take a photograph from outside and show it to the public that these staff were taking a mockery against me and I got really offended by their unacceptable behaviour.

Service abysmal. Had to get menus and cutlery ourselves. The waitress lied to us about the main dishes coming with a side so we would order extra. Ribs were too salty to eat. The dumplings and pastry were bland

Had lunch here and while food is very good, the service is appalling and surly. The food took approximately 45 minutes to an hour to arrive and the initial request for a beer was utterly ignored. After 15 mins or so I asked again for the beer and water. Beer arrived about 5 minutes later, the water took 15 minutes. At no point did the unsmiling waitress ask if I'd like another beer or more water, and requesting a to go box for the leftovers and the bill was like pulling teeth. I won't bother returning here.

The food is extremely good and never disappoints however the prices are abit unreasonable-£14 for a wrap?! And the service is really terrible poor communication and the people at the till give no effort or co-operation. I’ve been given the wrong order many times and after complaining by phone they don’t seem to care and hang up.

Literally the worst restaurant I have ordered on Uber eats. Small portion, shocking taste. Half of the large plate chicken is pepper corn, ginger and other non edible stuff. Definitely not worth spending any money on their food.

Very very bad restaurant, rude staff, the women that works there forces you to take things you did not ask by employing someone who doesn’t speak English so you feel embarrassed trying to explaining to her what you really want, It is been very bad experience, I would never go back to that place, there are many other restaurants across worth trying Save yourself from this choice

If you haven't tried Uyghur cuisine before, it's well worth a visit to Finsbury Park. Spicy and full of flavour at a reasonable price.

Arrived at 8pm got seated, plenty of free parking available after 6:30pm, we ordered a mixed variety of items as this was a new type of cuisine for me food wasn’t bad but I really didn’t like the service ordered 6 different dishes however ever item came 10-12minutes apart so that was definitely not good spent £182 and in my opinion that was expensive in comparison to the amount of food we got. Prior to taking our order they confirmed they had everything we ordered however midway into the service our main dish was no longer available so we decided to get the £42 mixed platter however we was informed that was the wrong price and the actual price was £62. Anyway everything was ok apart from the service asked for a spoon twice but was give fork I think the staff need basic training.

Blackstock Road, a rough area, leading off from Finsbury Park. An interesting mix of restaurants which close at ten, at least close at ten midweek. And yet barber shops not only open but packed. Wednesday night last week I found nearly everywhere closed and ended up at JoJo Kitchen, an Ethiopian restaurant. The food was disgusting. The next night, a very cold night, I looked in an Italian restaurant. The door was open and inside it was as cold as outdoors. Owner refused to close the door. I did not fancy anything on the menu and walked out. No surprise the restaurant was empty. I walked by back up Blackstock Road, and ended up it Dilara, which I had looked in earlier. BBC Travel (guide to Blackstock Road) - quote - Dilara, a Uyghur restaurant and takeaway run by husband-and-wife team, Abdul and Rose Axmu. Escaping persecution in Xinjiang, an autonomous territory in north-west China, they came to the UK and opened this business seven years ago. Uyghur food is a tantalising melting-pot of Central Asian cultures; here you'll find hand-pulled flat noodles, meat samosas, dumplings, aubergine stew, pilaf rice, chilli chicken and spiced lamb kebabs – "the best!" asserted Rose. "It's exhausting work to prepare all these dishes. But we like our customers who even come from far outside London." - end quote - If think Chinese, wrong, closest would be Afghan. I asked of soup. No soup, only in the morning. In the morning, I have muesli. It was recommended that I crossed the road to a grill, where I would find soup. This I did. Lentil soup. Then returned. I asked what the dishes were. I picked what I think was lamb and aubergine. But I may be wrong. It was served with couscous and rice. To my suprise, I was also brought a plate of salad. Portion size very generous. Very tasty. The down side, very very oily. Too oily. I asked a table what they were drinking. Effe. I too ordered a bottle.

Looks unassuming from the outside, and the staff are not the friendliest, but i would definitely recommend the food here! When we walked in they said it was reservation only, even though we called before to confirm whether they were open and to say we'd be popping in. After telling them I was fasting they let us through. The menus were falling apart but had pictures and an interesting variety. Then didn't give us enough plates and cutlery when it was only 4 of us but we laughed it off. The food came promptly, and we were pleasantly surprised. The flavours were good, especially the large dumplings. The meat was of a good quality and tender. Their hand pulled noodles are amazing and definitely a must order!!! You cannot come here and not get the Dilara half chicken. Definitely will be back for that. Wasn't too pricy either.

Really rude service unfortunately from the main woman who runs the till that tainted our experience. We walked in to order take out because we couldn't get the order placed online, and they had no tables. She ignored us for a while and kind of snapped at us when we were asking her about menu items (we've never had Uyghur cuisine before). She then realised we were asking questions because there were no menus anywhere, and she asked someone to get us a menu. Overall interaction was weird. Chef is a friendly man. All of the food was fresh except the samsa buns. Flavours were relatively good. We got the sour rice jelly cakes and they were OK. Noodles and chicken wings were good.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant, We found a hair in our food, and were not given a replacement in-fact was accused of putting my own hair in the meal! food was cold and bland and took ages to come out, the dumplings were stale, but very wet and soggy on the bottom, clearly they were microwaved! Customer service was horrendous and the main lady who is behind the till, is rude and arrogant, and did not take my feedback on board, in-fact started shouting and telling me and my friends we were being difficult customers along with accusing us of putting own hair in our meal! Disgusting never would go again!

Very disappointing, this was a Mother’s Day treat and the food was cold, oily and fatty. When we mentioned this to the staff they did not do anything and charged full price, which was very expensive. The food seems microwaved, the pictures look better than the taste. We specifically had the Sunday roast and the Yorkshire pudding came full of oil and not risen. The potatoes were cold and the meat was very fatty.

There weren’t many people there when a friend and I had lunch here on Saturday. Given the size of the space it lacked atmosphere. The entrance is a little hard to find. I imagine this is yummy mummy coffee central during the week. God I miss the Dalston of thirty or even twenty years ago! Menu was a bit limited, cocktails were excellent though, as was the service. Probably won’t bother go going back when so many other good options in the immediate area.
