For our last night on Stornoway we booked an early dinner for our party of 10. We ordered from the early set menu which is available from 5:30 to 6:30pm as we had 2 young children under 4 with us. The service was excellent - a high chair was provided as soon as we arrived, the children’s food was brought with our starters, and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The food was also excellent. We all chose different dishes but the mussels hat my wife and I had for starters were superb, served in a very creamy sauce which very very tasty. I chose sirloin steak as did a couple of the party and they were all served as ordered, medium or medium rare. The fries with the steak were also excellent. Desserts for the children were 3 scoops of ice cream which they loved. Overall a lovely meal that we all thoroughly enjoyed and the early dinner set menu offered a great choice and was excellent value for money

I had the 2 course lunch meal here for £14.95. The food is outstanding. I had a starter of Cullen Skink fishcakes which was fantastic and even the main course of fish and chips was amazing. Easily the best restaurant I have been to in Stornoway.

Temple Cafe

31/05/2019: Based on favourable TA reviews I'd put this cafe down on the list of places to visit if possible during our island stay. You may think that you're never going to find it however if you keep driving through Northton, heading for the loch, you will eventually come upon it. It's the cottage-style stone building with a decent sized car park and a view.
23/05/2019: Great location overlooking Northton machair, goes like a fair, had to wait in quite a queue but well worth it.Excellent treacle scone, strawberry cake and all served on pretty and old china.Fresh wildflowers on tables, lovely hand soap in toilets and next time, I'll try the very tasty looking savoury food being rustled up.Nice staff too.

North Harbour Bistro & Tearoom

15/06/2019: This place is clearly very proud of its prime quality cuisine, there are certificates on the wall, and the chef does the rounds regularly to bask in the admiration of diners. This pride in the food is not without justification, but the wider picture is less rosy, as other aspects of the experience are seriously lacking.
28/05/2019: After crossing the bridge to Scalpay turn left where signposted for "Am Baile/The Village". Just keep on this road and you'll come to the bistro on the right side of the road. It's a humble looking building, a former shop, and my wife expressed some doubt that we'd found this recommended restaurant! I had to remind her of the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" :-)
