Dibble & Grub in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Sadly it was disappointing today. Portions were very mean - 3 of our party ordered the ciabatta toast with halloumi and avocado to find they were only given half a ciabatta roll topped with smashed avocado and the halloumi..... It felt very much bulked out with some chopped tomato. For a meal I'd have expected both halves of the bread roll! When the bill comes to nearly £50 for 2 adults and 2 children for a quick sandwich lunch and you leave hungry something has gone wrong. Also very little on the menu to appeal to children. Compared to my memories of Scilly as a child few places feel welcoming to families anymore sadly.

With time to kill waiting for the ferry we wandered along the seafront and found this little cafe - excellent service and coffee! Outdoor seating was lovely until it rained but indoors was cosy and colourful.

We had a beautiful lunch sat out overlooking the sea in our first day of arriving on the island. There were no tables outside but we kids find that there were some inside and then the waitress kindly offered us a table outside when one became free. We had a panini and ciabatta which were both absolutely delicious. I had coffee and a cold drink. The ginger beer was so lovely on a hot day as was hubby’s lemon drink. I also went back for a turmeric latte one evening to take away which was delicious. The girls were all mostly friendly, certainly the ones that served us were and we just had a fabulous lunch and then continued our walk around the island. Definitely recommend and next time we visit we will hopefully be able to go back for an evening meal. The other dishes coming out looked amazing.

A true gem! Positioned right on Porthcressa Beach this is a truly amazing restaurant. Offering a wide range of Mediterranean inspired tapas dishes that are so full of flavour and texture. The menu offers a wide range of dishes with many different fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. From my recollection all but one item in the menu was either gluten free or could be made gluten free - making it no hassle for us to share a selection of dishes. Gluten free beers also available! Every dish we ate - form starters, the tapas and some amazing desserts - was so good! Better than the tapas we had on our previous trips to Spain. The front of house staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful. The whole atmosphere was perfect - such a lovely evening. Book early to avoid disappointment - we will definitely book in on our next visit!

Gorgeous location, beautiful food and fantastic atmosphere! Great variety of food, as a vegetarian I had plenty to choose from. The staff were lovely, went above and beyond to make sure we had a special night (my Mum’s 60th). Everything about this restaurant was brilliant. Highly recommend to anyone visiting St Mary’s. The view is so special, looks right out onto the sea.

Just the nicest place, people and food for a relaxed lunch in the sunshine. Excellent service was prompt and friendly. The food absolutely hit the spot, a delicious selection of generous and good quality pinchos. Relaxing and great fun. Would advise not to miss this place when visiting St Mary’s.

Lovely setting on Porthcressa beach for a meal. They provide tapas style food (covering Spanish, Greek and Middle Eastern cuisines) and local produce, including Scilly Isles beers. We had a selection of dishes and followed the waitress’ recommendations of around three dishes per person. We’ve always enjoyed our dinners at Dibble and Grub whilst on St Mary’s and this year decided to add in a couple of brunches which were similarly brilliant. All the food was delicious, the staff friendly and we even got to see a rainbow over Porthcressa! Looking forward to returning next year.

Having had an amazing meal last year whilst on holiday I was so looking forward to my 2 bookings this year. It did not disappoint! Thank you so much for fabulous service and the most delicious food. Roll on next year!!

This restaurant operates the most archaic service. One person is in charge of taking food orders for the whole venue whilst 3 other staff take drinks orders and stand around doing very little. I asked three different members of staff if we could order food and were told we had to wait for the person on food orders whom proceeds to go around the tables in order. Completely crazy, perhaps the staff on drinks have pens that only allow them to write drinks on their pad of paper or they can't spell well enough to write the food items down. Other customers rolling their eyes in disbelief also and a complaint that someone's table had been given away as they were delayed, they'd attempted phoning but the staff in the restaurant told them they didn't have any telephone signal to accept the call. Food was average - £9 for a chicken panini that came with a single piece of lettuce, why bother ? Either put some proper salad on as an accompaniment or none at all. Partners pork souvlaki was rated ok but not enough meat. Wouldn't recommend. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Shambles!

We had two dinners there in a week. The Cod is to die for. The Souvlaki is top drawer! Try to fight the desire to have Ice Cream and Amaretto for dessert - it is awesome and an aphrodisiac! We were served by Pugh Pugh and Barney McGrew. I have to tell you Barney is now 6 foot 7 inches! A great place...cant believe it is 20 years old . Well done.

A great spot on the beach with lots of friendly staff and excellent food. The food is styled on Tapas and the menu is very good. the evening meals looked really good but the restaurant was fully booked for the time we were there. The local beers on offer are all good. Even my wife loved the peach beer. Should we return we will definitely try and get booked in for the evening sitting.

Fabulous food with enough variety on the menu to suit everyone. The tortilla was fantastic as were the potatoes and pretty much everything we tried! Friendly service too with fab views over the bay.

Visited twice during our 17 night stay. Tapas is absolutely delicious and always a great selection. Staff very friendly and very efficient. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

We decided we'd go for breakfast on the last day of our holidays. The restaurant is so popular that we were unable to book an evening meal and there was always a long queue at lunch times. So.....if you want to go....book at least 3 months in advance! The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Chocolate pancakes, scrambled egg, croissants and berries. The service was superb. We were able to relax and appreciate the beautiful setting. No one rushed us to complete our meal. Indeed it was quite the opposite, people are encouraged to take their time, enjoy the delicious food and even read a paper. We'll be back! Thank you.

Phenomenal tapas dishes with plenty of options. Everything we tried was amazing. Brilliant for coeliacs and gluten-intolerant people, virtually everything on the menu is or can be made gluten free. Really impressed by the GF pittas and ciabatta with babaghanoush (probably the best we’ve had)....
