Absolutely brilliant restaurant, the food was beautiful. Everything was so flavoursome and perfect quality. The staff are so welcoming and friendly too, would definitely recommend and we shall be returning in the near future ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great food, was made to feel very special. Definitely will go again. Enough choice for all of our group, as one of our group as dietary needs.

It’s always scary booking somewhere you have never eaten at before and especially for family and friends too, but we were all amazed. Firstly, the welcoming lady owner who is absolutely lovely, the chef is her husband and wow his food is amazing. As there was quite a few of us in our party, mid week, it was buffet style, which makes it easier to prepare and cook. None of us were disappointed as the choices were varied and delicious. I tend to always order the same things but having varied choices ensured I was out of my comfort zone - so glad I was. The rice pudding and carrot pudding was devine. Nothing was too much trouble and first class service all the way. Friday and Saturday evenings is always buffet due to the popularity, we highly recommend the Sher e Akbar and will definitely be back when again in Huddersfield.

Visited last night for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. Booked a table in advance. Arrived and were seated straight away. A fresh chilled bottle of water was given to us and glasses and we were asked if we would like any soft drinks. Then left to help ourselves to the buffet. Absolutely delicious food, all cooked perfect. Starters, mains and 2 types of dessert. Not too much is placed in the food containers and they are topped up constantly and cooked fresh. Lovely soft nan breads also. I tried a little of each curry and they were all amazing. The lamb was melt in the mouth. All were full of fresh tasty ingredients. The staff are fantastic. We last visited 3/4 years ago before Covid and my sons have talked about it ever since. We weren’t sure if the place had reopened, so happy it had and the lady actually remembered us, so friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return. A lovely little family run restaurant. Thank you.

We went for the first time this evening and we loved it, the food was delicious, poppadoms with mango sauce and onions, yoghurt sauce, tamarind sauce etc, Chargrilled chicken tikka and seek kebabs, onion Bhajis, samosas, donner meat and salad, then 4 different delicious curry’s, chicken, lamb, chicken and spinach etc Naan bread, rice, chips all as much as you can eat, staff were filling up the buffet with fresh hot food all the time. the decor is nothing posh but clean and comfortable. Bring your own alcohol if required, chilled water on the table, and they sell soft drinks. We will definitely be back, excellent value for money, Highly Reccomended for an informal meal.

My dad has been going in for years and I recently returned home from USA for a quick visit. The food and service was fantastic. We were met with a kind voice and good conversation followed by starters with all the trimmings that you would want from a curry house. The lamb and Chicken Karahi was so flavorful. We had a great night and I will be recommending my friends in the area to try our Sher E Akbar as it’s a hidden gem!

Had a few takeaways during lockdown and was upto usual standard. Been to eat in a couple of times since being allowed and again meals excellent. Staff great. Able to social distance with no problems.

I had been several times before, but had forgotten just how good the food was. A busy night on my recent visit with a party upstairs. Because of this the normal buffet was slow, so instead I had pappadoms, then a huge sizzling plate arrived, followed by a chicken curry, lamb curry and large naan. It really did not matter that on this occasion that I had not a choice as the delightful lady who was cooking said she would cook anything I wanted! The quality was outstanding The portions more than generous, in fact I took half home and it fed me the following day. All for £13. Can’t wait to go back.

Friendly family run restaurant that makes you feel at home. If the buffet isn't ready they will do a massive sizzler starter platter and any curry to your taste for same price including poppadoms with fresh homemade chutneys, rice, naan and dessert. Best rice pudding I have ever tasted. Curries are very fresh and authentic. This place is a hidden gem!

Visited with my sons to celebrate GCSE results and will definitely return. We arrived a little too early for the buffet but the lady serving explained we could have a sizzler starter, poppadom & pickle tray, main & dessert for the same price. We were not dissapointed.Lovely warm fresh poppadoms & delicious pickle tray.Mixed sizzler was beautiful, curried chips, Donner meat, large chunks of chicken tikka, onion bhaji, samosas & seekh kebab with fried onions. Everything was cooked perfect and really really tasty.My youngest son is not a huge curry fan and she explained she would make him a mild curry, I opted for lamb. My son said it was the nicest curry he had ever had, it was mild yes but so tasty, not just bland like a korma, it was seasoned perfectly and he ate the whole thing.My lamb was gorgeous and tender, lovely rice and hot buttery nan bread.I read the reviews on here before we came and someone got it spot on, it's like a home cooked meal, the staff were all lovely and friendly.We also got 2 large bottles of nice cold water free of charge.Very reasonable prices,.I can't believe I have never heard of this restaurant and am so glad we decided to visit, we will definitely return and I will be recommending it to friends and family.

We have eaten before at Sher e Akbar. We enjoyed the food and service kin spotless suroundings.One thing was missing - atmosphere. There simply were not enough diners.

Our local and favouritist curry place. Always get the same excellent service and quality of food. Family run and family oriented and love children. Nothing is too much bother which transfers to the food which is always top tucker

We held a family party in the upstairs room at the end of June. The service we received was fantastic and we had over 60 people attending with a live band. It was a hot evening and people could stand and chat on the small balcony too. The food was buffet style and excellent in every way. I would highly recommend the staff here and the quality of their food and service. We were able to decorate the room as we wished and supply our own drinks.

Really good food, very friendly and helpful staff bring your own booze. Would recommend grabbing some beers from Magic Rock which is round the corner

We go here almost every week, and are always always looked after. Amazing food and friendly staff. The buffet can be altered to suite your tastes, and if the buffet isn’t on then there is table service provided. I’d never go anywhere else!!

I visit regularly and Sher E Akbar have never ever disappointed! The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. My favourite dish has to be the lamb karahi, which is absolutely heavenly! This place is always a great value for money and I would highly recommend to everyone!

Arrived 5.30pm so the buffet wasn’t out but we were offered the table service or asked if we wanted to wait for the buffet. We opted for the buffet and all the dishes were steadily filled. It was a nice way to dine so we just took a small portion and waited for the next dish to arrive. Everything was so fresh and there was a good choice of starters and mains with salad table and popadoms on the side. There were also a few desserts to finish off. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Absolutely delicious food, amazing service, friendly family run business, very friendly & catering. After visiting numerous restaurants this place hands down can not be beaten on taste. Highly recommend this place to all the curry lovers out there. Give this place a try

We hoped for a quiet dinner on new years eve. It was just another family when we started but it soon filled up...a good sign of the good food. It's a buffet style service and every dish was well seasoned and freshly made. The Lamb Kahari was a particular highlight - the lamb was tender and it's always a great sign of a good chef...

After reading some of the reviews we decided to visit Asher e Akbar this evening and wow was we pleased!

The wife and I went for a meal here this evening. The restaurant is a family run affair. They are very welcoming and helpful.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here, and it was lovely...we had the buffet menu and it was really nice, all the food was nice n hot and replenished regularly, the staff looked after all our guests 43 of them, the lady even decorated it with banners etc for me.. will definitely return again!

We called into Huddersfield to see our son & his girlfriend after dropping our daughter at Loughborough for freshers week. Fair to say we love Asian foods and asked our son to find a good place. He excelled! Sher e Akbar is a family run gem in Birkby, a mile or two out of the centre of town. The wonderfully tranquil atmosphere of a quiet Tuesday in an out of town restaurant created an amazing opportunity to sample divine foods, expertly created & prepared and delivered with incredible hospitality. Sumptuous starters complimented outstanding main meals, served with generous & flavoursome rice, naans & chapatis, accompanied by water & freshly prepared mango lassi. The food was only outdone by the friendly advice & perfect hospitality. What a wonderful experience, thank you.

We had a table for 8 and our 4 year old. Everyone was so friendly, they couldn’t do enough for our daughter she came away with balloons, a flower and a lolly! She had a wonderful time (wants to go every day!) We went for the Friday night buffet, everything was fresh and tasty. Even offered to make any curry that wasn’t out on the buffet. Unbelievably the bill came to £108.40 inc soft drinks between 8 and a child. Absolute bargain, had to double check we’d been given the right bill! Highly recommend this place, my first visit definitely not my last. Thank you all

Had a great meal here last night. Had been promising ourselves a visit since moving in to the area. The food was absolutely delicious and “Suzie” the owner was delightful. Highly recommended. We’ll be back.

Yesterday I held a dinner reception for my friends & family at Sher e Akbar. A group of nearly 50 adults and quite a few kids of various ages.

We went in on Sunday evening after a trip to Magic Rock Tap. It was very quiet, but the buffet was on and was topped up with small amounts of fresh food, which tasted excellent. We had naan cooked to order and it was one of the best I’ve had!!

We visited this restaurant on New Year's Eve. Amongst us we had two vegetarians and a very fussy 3 year old. The host went out of her way to accommodate us all. They served a vegetarian platter amongst a variety of other vegetarian dishes. All food was made fresh and to a very high standard. The owners are extremely polite and friendly and are very hospitable. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this restaurant, it is well worth a visit. We will definitely visit this restaurant again. Thank you.

I have been touring the industrial architecture of Yorkshire. Saturday night in Huddersfield and I needed somewhere to eat .

My girlfriend and I went last night and had the most amazing meal. They catered excellently for her vegetarian needs, providing a large range of dishes ! Was served a sizzling starter plate and mixed Karahi which was to die for. The service was prompt and attentive while also extremely courteous. This is by far the best food we had in a long time. Would highly recommend. Extremely good value too.

This has to be the best food by a long chalk. Amin prepares everything fresh; no frozen food here. The decor is excellent, the staff are polite and attentive.

Went back on a busier night to sample the full buffet. We were recognised on entry and was most especially impressed that it was remembered that my wife is vegetarian... So the chef prepared a plate of vegetarian starters for her as the buffet was more 'meat' orientated. There was enough for two so I had the superb veggie starters as well. Everything on the buffet was fresh and there was a very adequate range of dishes including vegetarian options - so we were both delighted. Nan breads were made freshly and brought to our table. And so we came back again a few weeks later - and once again had the same recognition, the same exemplary and very personal service and a similar high standard of cuisine. I should have mentioned that there are also a small range of indian sweetmeats available for desert - although as a diabetic I steer clear of these - but a plentiful range including gulab jamons, kheer and other delights which sadly I am no longer advised to try. This restaurant has become our favourite in Huddersfield. As a buffet restaurant, the quality is in no way diminished (although you can still order of the menu if you wish) and the value is excellent.

This restaurant is one of the best I've visited. The food is simply amazing. It is clean and everything shines. The owners are the most welcoming and attentive hosts I have ever come across. I have visited several times now and will continue to eat here. They also host parties and do outside catering. Don't pay any attention to the few negative reviews on Trip Advisor. They are at least 3 years old and are for the previous owners. The new owners have only received positive reviews. This restaurant is hard to beat. And its garlic naan is still the best I've ever tasted!

For those of you who enjoy; ‘eating out’ that does not break the bank, great food served in a great restaurant, excellent friendly service that makes you feel special and Asian cuisine, then Sher e Akbar; The Horseshoe, 80 Blacker Rd, Huddersfield, HD1 5HN, is the place to go. For some unexplainable reason Sher e Akbar is the best kept ‘dining out’ secret in Huddersfield!! I love Oriental and Asian cuisine, but hate eating out, why, because I object to being served inedible food in a pretentious environment with poor service and being overcharged for the experience, this was the case on my last three ‘dining out’ experiences in Huddersfield, but not last night. My wonderful wife and I spent our 22nd anniversary at Sher e Akbar, we have eaten there many times before and since their re-vamp, they are now better than ever. Sher e Akbar serves either a buffet or an a-la-carte menu. The buffet is £11.95 all you can eat and the a-la-carte menu is very reasonably priced, only about £1 or two more than local takeaways, they also do takeaway. They do not serve beer or wine, but you are welcome to bring your own and they do not charge a ‘corkage’ fee. The food, the restaurant and parking is 5 star, a spotlessly clean, well presented restaurant and large function suite and the owners and staff are very friendly, welcoming and make you feel special. The food is always perfect, sometimes the use of spices in Asian cuisine is not well balanced. The use of spices at Sher e Akbar is exceptionally well balanced, the chefs are brilliant and my wife, my friends and I just adore this absolute gem of a restaurant.Sher e Akbar gets our vote for being the best ‘all around’ Asian Restaurant and one of the top restaurants in Huddersfield. All of you including our great university and college students should go and enjoy this wonderful ‘dining out’ experience that will not break your bank. We hold all our ‘Club Nights Out’ at Sher e Akbar and the students love it and always say “when are we having another curry night”, I know why and now so do you!! Went for a couple of beers at the Magic rock and Sher e Akbar is just up the road so decided to give it a try. The food was fantastic, easily the best Indian buffet I have been to. I font usually go for the buffet but the selection of curries on offer were great. Highlight was the lamb handi and fresh garlic naans. Lovely owners. I will be recommending this place to friends.

The food here is excellent; restaurant is a hidden treasure. The fish pakora is the best fish in the UK hands down, they need to enter their recipe competitions. Service is excellent, and the place is immaculately cleaned. Prices are low - and they have parking and your can BYO. Lovely owners.

Formerly known as desi buffet. A great little restaurant that serves traditional Indian food. The starters are to die for and you never come away hungry. It's not and overly sized buffet but plenty of choice 5/6 main curries. Their not licensed so you can take in alcohol but soft drinks are served in the restaurant. Great if planning a celebratory meal, and always happy to help. Great staff very friendly and welcoming. Must visit.

A group of seven friends and I went for our monthly night out. Clean and modern surroundings and Suzi made us feel really welcome. Excellent value from the buffet with something for everyone's taste. As always with a buffet I ate too much!We called at the Magic Rock Tap for a drink first and collected a couple of cans as the Sher-e-Khan (As the desi buffets is now known) isn't licensed. We will be back

Visited here as it's local and parking is an issue as it's situated on a major crossroads, now trading under the name of Sher-e-Akbars the food is still the same amazing quality,Very quiet considering it was a Friday night with only us and three other ppl in and at a tenner a head to eat as much as u want you'd think it would be rammedThe waiters a bit annoying but the food spot on

We visited this buffet restaurant (now called Sher E Akbar) for a quick buffet and discovered a lovely little place where we were so well looked after by the owner. She was friendly and so concerned that we enjoyed everything, which we did. We have never been looked after so well. The place is small, but this adds to its charm. Soft music and the sound of running water creates a peaceful atmosphere and the food was delicious. The ice cream was so good and the freshly made garlic bread was amazing. I was so disappointed that i couldn't finish it. More people should know about this restaurant. Would definitely go again.

What a fantastic place... Only a handful of people were there last night so the buffet was scaled down - in terms of quantity; But in no way was the quality diminished. Apparently the old 'Desi' buffet has had a make over but existing reviews were encouraging so we gave it a try. We were delighted. The decor is smary, chic and comfortable. I would love to come again on a 'busy' night wehen the buffet is in full swing. They have a chef there who is as good as any we've tried and better than many. Our host was most anxious that we should be pleased and my wife, who is a vegetarian was especially well looked after. We were simply made to feel so welcome. It just couldn't have been better.I'mm almost sorry to say that we are going away on holiday at the weekend - because I would have been back here on Saturday for sure!

We visited after reading some good reviews but our experience was not as expected. The one thing we are finding that changes dramatically is the sourcing of the chicken and the qauility of it. After speaking with the owner of local Indian restaurant there is a push to use "rubber" chicken which is water commpressed chicken which is very different in texture and taste and is also very cheap.This was not the chicken we were used to it was the "rubber" chicken. There is nothing wrong with this establishment the waiters and staff very nice but it is what it is, a buffet style get em in get em out. If you want a dining experience this is not the establishment to go. The taste was definitly of Pakistan origin not Indian so took a bit of getting used to. I dont think we will be visiting again but it may suit some tastes better it is just we prefer the genuine Indian Curry rather than the genuine Pakistani version. Try it and decide for yourselves.

Wanted to try somewhere different but close to home and Magic Rock Tap Brewery. Staff friendly and attentive. Place itself felt like a cafe, tiled floor, cheap looking tables, decor not quite right. Buffet Food was just usual takeaway standard, had to ask for more rice to be put out. Got given the worst dessert, dried up carrot pudding (Gajar Halva) - I have eaten this many times and OMG this one was vile. Went based on previous trip advisor reviews which we won't trust again. Should have gone to Akbars in Bradford.

Went on a Saturday night with my wife and our adult son.When we got there it was about 18:00 and we were the first in, had the pick of tables.They apologised that the food would be about 10 minutes but help ourselves to the poppadom's and pickles. After about 5 minutes the rest of the starters arrived, bhajis, chicken tikka, vegetable samosas, kebabs. Everything was fresh and extremely tasty.When the mains came out there was several dishes with rice, chips, no naan bread.Then the chef brought out this enormous nan bread on a stand for the 3 of us, this bread was to die for..The lamb dish ( Handi ) was the best lamb dish I have ever had.After the mains there were various sweets, the wife and son had the indian rice pudding which I was assured was excellent.The staff were very attentive, the place is nicely decorated and very clean.In a nutshell we paid £12 each and it was worth every penny.Definitely be back again.

Used to visit Desi Buffet, always found the food amazing. Since the refit (and new name Sher e Akbar), the interior is now up to the high standard of the food. As well as the Buffet, you can now also order a wider range of dishes off a menu. Staff are lovely people. Haven't previously taken our own drinks (despite free corkage) as the mango lassi is terrific. Desserts are also amazing (if you have room)! Would recommend - if you have not been yet, you're missing a treat!

I and my friends went to eat and we couldn't not fault one single bit. Great welcome, top class food and on top of that the most amazing tea to finish it off. The staff were very nice and friendly, very cheap got great quality of food. I would have to rate it the best place in Huddersfield and will defo be going back a lot frequently. They even offered to play music of our choice so what more can anyone ask for. Thanks to all the staff, spent 2 hours there and received the best customer service I have ever received in any restaurant. Thanks to Abdulallaha and the rest of staff :)

This is a buffet style 'bring-your-own-drink' Indian restaurant.When you think of buffet-style you think of food prepared well in advance and left simmering on heated stainless steel serving dishes with lids.Not so !This buffet is freshly prepared: While you are tucking in to your starter of popadoms and samosas and kebabs and chicken tikka someone behind the scenes is cooking your mains!Your mains include lamb dishes chicken dishes vegetable dishes. I think there were about 8 mains with freshly cooked naans. If that's not enough -they even have puddings!! I cannot tell you how good the food is. The lighting is a bit bright and if I only had one criticism it was the lighting!! But to be honest that's a very insignificant problem when you are paying a tenner a head!Yes - £10 a head !Thoroughly recommend this place (and then a stroll downhill to the Magic Rock Brewery to wash it all down with a pint or two of real ale!) What a night out !

I visit Desi Buffet regularly as the staff are super friendly and accomodating. There is a variety of dishes in the buffet. All the dishes are freshly made, the food is delicious and the curries are to die for. I have attended a few parties in the banquetting hall upstairs, and I have always had a fantastic time. The staff are very accomodating and will always go the extra mile to ensure that all your needs are fulfilled. It is a reasonable price and worth every penny!

Several visits with my wife and two daughters has always been a success. The food is freshly prepared, bread and naan can be cooked to order. Friendly service and beautiful, value for money, food.

We stumbled upon this restaurant because our usual place was closed for a function. However, we weren't disappointed here at all! The food tasted really fresh and was always topped up. We could see the chef constantly cooking and it was all very hot and fresh unlike some others buffets I have been too. The lady serving was friendly and we enjoyed the overall meal.

Everything is freshly made there is a wide range or dishes from started to mains to pudding the meat isn't fatty everything is perfect if you like Akash in Bradford you'll love this! I'd give more stars if I could :) and you can bring your own alcohol bonus!

Buffet is great value. The food is excellent and authentic with plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The owners and staff are lovely, so friendly and accommodating. Desi Buffet is only a few minutes drive from the centre of Huddersfield and definitely worth the trip!

We went here 26th April around 6pm when it was very quiet. Despite the low numbers of customers they kept refreshing the dishes with small quantities and nothing was too much trouble.

we hosted a private party for my son's first happy birthday for 25 people, it was great.food we cant complain, desi-asian style curry and lot of starters and bit of variety.they were professional, friendly, not been rushed, all guests enjoyed the party in a relaxing environment. they were very accommodating, helped us in decorating the hall upstairs, provided the music system, so that we could play nice background music and we just had fun.it was very reasonable price,good tasty fresh food, friendly staff...nothing to complain..special thanks to the manager- ameena her name, i hope i spelt her name right...she was great.....friendly and helpful...speak to her and your requirements, she will defiently do something and help to through a nice lovely party for you and your guest...many thanks desi buffet - management and staff keep it up....

We come to desi buffet every Friday for our tea after work. Been coming for the past year and every time we have been we have had brilliant service and the food is out of this world, we have never been dissapointed at all. Very relaxing and good for chillaxing after a 10 hour shift. Would highly recommend desi buffet

During my 2 day stay in Huddersfield I found this little buffet restaurant not far from the hotel we were staying at. The restaurant is a family owned restaurant so the food was like home style cooking. There was a good variety of dishes including starters and side dishes and for £9.95 per person you could not go wrong with this all you can eat buffet. The lady that served us at the restaurant was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes home style asian food.

Went to Desi for takaway the staff were abrupt and unpleasant. The food was very oily and the worst madras we have ever had.

Let me start off by saying that I have never experienced such bad service by rude staff. The food was pretty average which I won't bother complaining about. We ordered Irn Bru as drinks and when the jug came, the drink was light orange instead of the bright orange usual colour. We though it was just the lighting in here that making the drink look funky but nope! After a sip by each of us, it was clear that the drink had been diluted into water to make it look that there was more! We then proceeded to tell a waiter who then refused to acknowledge our complaint. I could continue but all i want to say is "don't waste your money here!"

I often go to Desi for a take away curry treat. The owners and staff are great and the food is always excellent.

We recently went here as a family and were the first customers in the place. The restaurant had been open for 50 mins but kitchen waited until we arrived to spring into action and prepare the starters. The hostess explained about the short wait, which couldn't have been more than 5 mins and well worth it for hot, fresh starters. By the time we'd finished our starters there was a lovely variety of mains and sundries waiting for us. The food was hot and delicious, the hostess was friendly and lovely with the kids and the price was very reasonable. There were only soft drinks on the menu and I didn't ask if bringing your ownalcohol is permitted I'm afraid. There's a bit of a canteen atmosphere and I probably wouldn't go for a romantic night out but I will definitely be going back!

Went here with some friends, food very nice with the tourines getting regularly filled with small amounts of hot fresh food. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.

Went for a dinner at this place. A bit cramped quarters, but no one was around yet Good Laksi and delicious lamb, chicken, dhal, and nan.

Although the staff are very friendly and welcoming, I have never been to a buffet like this in my life. We arrived at the restaurant about 7:30 on a Saturday night and we was told to sit down, we was sat around 5 minutes before they brought a high chair and welcomed us and offered us drinks. We then went on to eat, out of the 4 starters there was enough to feed one person. Me and my partner had all of the chips and we hardly had any.. The dishes were never refilled as we was there, we then went onto the main.. There was 4 different curries as mains, ONE chicken curry which was obviously warmed up and the bad left overs of a chicken. I have never been so disappointed ever. If you're planning on going here.. Don't! Save your money and order a take away, you'll get more food that way too. I had one plate of the chicken and some rice, it tasted absolutely dreadful. I wouldn't even feed a dog this tripe! Save your money and go somewhere else.

Grandchildren suggested this restaurant - they've eaten here before (ages 9 & 6).Buffet with a difference; very good range of starters and mains including granddaughter's favourite - paya. Try the mango lassi - yoghurt drink, very moreish. Only two desserts on the menu - ice cream avaliable for those not wanting Indian rice or carrot pudding (rice pudding was lovely). You'll probably be too full to attempt pudding! Well presented food, ideal for vegetarians and meat eaters, clean/comfortable surroundings. Extremely good value for money.

We went for a valentine meal to the desi at birkby as we had booked a table earlier on in the week a table was ready on arrival the atmosphere and music was amazing. We ordered our drinks and arrived within five minutes then followed by the fish pakoras which was a special treat from the chef. The buffet food was of extremely high quality which was thoroughly enjoyed and all of a great value of £9.95 per head. Thanks desi buffet for a great evening. See you again very soon.

Second visit and the food and service is outstanding. This place should be packed all the time. Great value for money. Highly recommended

Desi Buffet have a hall upstairs for parties/other events. It is a decent sized hall with the capacity to fit around 100 people. We booked the hall for a few hours and had the extended family get together for a meal. It was nice to have some privacy upstairs away from other customers, be able to loosen up and relax. There is a large variety of starters, mains and desserts to choose from the buffet, all of which are delicious and have a real homemade taste. Kids loved that there were chips! And the naan is the best ever! Also it was great being able to sit down with a plate full of food just 10 minutes after arrival. The staff kindly let us use their deck to play music of our choice and have a little party of our own!The prices aren't high at all. It is much cheaper than other well known restaurants in Bradford etc. and the food is definitely a lot better. It is definitely worth trying Desi Buffet.Thank you to the staff who made our evening enjoyable. We will definitely be returning!

We have eaten in the restaurant three times and make regular use of their take-away service. To be fair, the decor is functional rather than stylish but, if it's good tasty food you're looking for, this is the place to find it. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's good that you can take your own drinks, so you don't have to pay the crazy prices charged in some restaurants.Take-away portions come in two sizes, standard and large, and with a starter, I can usually make two meals out of a large portion. Given the location of the Desi-buffet in Huddersfield, we expected the standard of the food on offer to be much higher.Instead, we had what can only be described as an average take-away meal at best in café-like surroundings.Poor ambience, dirty rear carpark, poor décor and a very small choice of dishes, we were in and out in 40 minutes which when you consider the bill was almost £25 for 2 is not good..Two chicken dishes and lamb trotters (?) make up the main course.. rice pudding from a tin (honestly it seemed like it) for dessert.Desi should mean traditionally spiced and 'home-cooked' food....but there really was no desi in this buffet.On commenting about the lack of choice, we were told, they did a korma once but it dried out too quick.. hmmm.. and they told us people preferred lamb trotters to more expensive lamb dishes....hmmmm....Oh and to top it all, they blocked the small carpark with a transit van so we couldn't escape quicker!!Never normally write reviews but just had to put something to warn you!!

We went on a Friday evening and we had a fabulous evening. The food is really good, you can take your own alcohol, which is good for keeping costs down. The first time we went, we thought there was very little food in each bain marie. By the time we had eaten starters, all of the starters we had eaten had been replaced fresh. There is always 4 meat dishes for main, 2 rices, chips, naans, popadoms and pickles, salads, etc. Every time you go back, they have ensured there is more fresh food to eat.The place is really clean, nicely kitted out and the staff are really friendly if you get talking to them, but they don't bother you.We love it and will continue to go there lots. Its a great opportunity to try different curries if you're not sure you're going to like them! I'm just surprised it is not more busy!

We are a local Martial Arts Club (Aikido) in Huddersfield and in the past, I have also owned two restaurants and managed a third. I was asked if this is one of the best meals I have ever eaten and for Indian Curry it definitely is: We have, so far, arranged two club dinners and I have eaten at Desi Buffet several times and once with just me and my fifteen year old daughter, Desi is her favourite restaurant and anyone with a fifteen year old daughter knows how difficult they are to please. We and all our club members and guests love Desi Buffet and I am in the process of arranging another meal there for the late evening of Saturday 7th, September 2013 about 30 of us will be there. Desi Buffet offers it's clientele really great and delicious food, a large choice to suit all tastes including many vegetarian dishes, great staff, great place, very comfortable and friendly atmosphere, very clean and well presented restaurant, bring your own beer and wine (no corkage fee is added) and a place where you can go to eat out that will impress your friends but will not break the bank! What more can we expect or ask for from a really great local eatery! Thanks Desi Buffet we love what you do!! Just keep doing it the way you do, it's perfect!!!Well Done Desi Buffet!!!!

The food was excellent, very tasty and it came out piping hot. We went for the al la carte option. We had the mixed grill platter and were shocked at the size of the portion and how big it was for the price charged. It was very good value compared to other places where they may give you a couple more pieces but charge you double the price for it! The naans are the best ever and tasted absolutely divine! The service was excellent and the complimentary jugs of water were topped up regularly.

The starters are lovely. Bhajis. Chicken tikka. Seekh kebabs and samosas. The curries are nice with a decent selection. But a little over spiced in my opinion. There is also a salad bar. And you have rice and fresh nan to add to your meal. My issue is if it's not busy there isn't a lot of food out. And. You have to wait for then to cook. Which seems to be microwaved.

Table for 4 with my 2 kids, fab starters, quick turn around so very fresh. Lovely curries with nan and rice. So much choice and a-la-carte quality. Bring your own drinks or soft drinks and water available so very cheap. Total bill for four £35. Highly recommended.

went to desi on a saturday and what great value £19 for 2! me and my partner had a buffet and a jug of coke and it was lovely..great service and we even bought our own bottle of booze with us.good selection, especially for a veggie, they had 2 veggie curries, rice, nann, samosas and bhajis, plus a salad bar and pudding so i left really full!..theres even more choice if you're a meat eater!the service was amazing, they ran out of naan of the buffet so the chef cooked us one fresh and delivered to our table!deffo visit again!
