Do not judge this place by its appearance. It's old school looking/feeling. An empty cabinet at the back of the restaurant. It a very welcoming lady to take your order. The menu is simply 23 options, inc drinks. I had the curried lamb noodles. Oh my wow. Huge, thick chewy noodles. A light curry broth! The coriander makes it. My boyfriend had spicy beef noodles. His broth was fiery and red! Wheaty noodles in his. Lovely beef flavour- spicy! 🔥 The chili sauce on the sides is toasty, deep and rich. You need very little. My curried lamb is eeeeeasily one of the top 5 Chinese dishes I've ever had in my 38 years on earth. Go to Derek's! Sit down on one of the 4-5 tables available...and jus enjoy. Oh, and they weren't more than £8-9 each a dish. Outstanding portion for two hungover people. Go! 💯

Didnt enjoy my lunch here. Just about edible, had the noodle with onion oil and the lamb and seafood soup. Nice lady behind the counter. £18 I feel I have to add after reading all the positive reviews we may have ordered wrong, if that makes sense.

Beef Noodle Soup menu Price approximately 400 baht (strong) Taste...very delicious Chinese style mellow fragrant soup The lines are soft and just right. Big pieces of rotting meat melt in your mouth. Cold weather eats hot soup. Sitting at a bar table, facing the street, looking at the view, watching people, it feels so good. Another menu is beef with ginger sauce. I don't know what it's called when ordering and telling the staff that "Take it like this" and it's really delicious. It goes very well with beef soup.

This is the perfect meal for the cold weather! Amazing price for the portion size. Me and partner were struggling to finish our meals! Place is small and cosy, and staff were polite and friendly and explain what’s in the broth. Recommend to bring cash as there is a 3% fee charge for card payment.

Small noodle shop run by a husband and wife team. It's not much to look at but serves really authentic Chinese noodles, deliciously chewy and freshly made by the husband. I'm planning to make my way through every item on the menu. Haven't had a bad dish yet!

This place is absolutely one of the most pleasant place to eat in the neighborhood. Always when I come to this place I am remarkably satisfied. They hold their high level service and the highest level of meals they offer. You surely will enjoy this this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

Best Chinese food in Liverpool by a long way. Definitely authentic food. The service is authentic too (which isn't to everyone's liking). The owner prefers to speak Chinese to English, isn't particularly helpful and the restaurant is often crammed. However, it is worth it. Best Chinese noodles I've had in the UK. I'd recommend the Hui Mian for a winter warm-up type soup bowl, or the yow po mian for a (really) spicy, dry noodle dish. Both are excellent.

店面很小，通常需要等位。羊肉烩面：面是手擀的，略咸，味道还不错，羊肉略膻可以接受，很有家乡味，合北方人胃口~ 肉夹馍：如果是白吉馍更好吃，价格便宜，卤肉咸甜口。 注意：No student discount and cash only!

I would bring someone like my mum here for the authentic noodles which are ALL hand pulled noodles! Not a date night kinda place but def worth a visit for spicy noodles, wantons, and side dishes such as spicy pig ears, and smashed cucumber salad. And prices are not expensive either. Edit: you will need to bring a Chinese friend that can read/talk mandarin or use Google translate to look at the menu (the back has the side dishes in Chinese).

Environment is not attractive. But cheap and nice noodles with yummy side dishes.

大家以后不要再误导人了好吗，俩夫妻是不是飘了对中国人态度巨差，面很一般还不如香味园的，分这么高不知道不知道是不是有什么猫腻，体验巨差。

Very bad attitude, especially for people from China.

A small but bustling cafe, the lady wasn’t very hospitable and made us feel unwelcome and just stopped short of telling us to leave... but we hung around and eventually a table cane free. The food was slow to come BUT it was very delicious and tasted very authentic. We will return when back in the area. The lady had warmed to us in the end lol
