An absolute gem of a restaurant. Lovely, genuine family run establishment. Home from home dining. Lovely food. Loved by locals. Fresh cooked daily menu so sometimes they run out of some items but a good selection of greek meals made from the heart 💜.

Absolutely love this restaurant, been coming here for sometime now and would thoroughly recommend… we bought our friends down to Demetrios for a home cooked authentic Greek meal… they didn’t disappoint. Many thanks to Eva Pat and the rest of the family…🙋🏻‍♀️

I served in the forces in Cyprus for 3 years, and we go on holiday there most years. I absolutely love Authentic Greek Cypriot food. We have a holiday caravan locally, and both me, my wife, and my family regularly visit Dometrios and have done for years. It is a typical Greek Cypriot family run business, so if you expect posh, fancy restaurants, you obviously haven't lived or eaten in an Authentic Greek Cypriot one. Leah and her family Kyriacos,(Chef), Pat and Eva are so welcolming, you are made to feel like you are part of their family. The food is excellent, Kyriacos cooks the food to perfection. I can highly recommend all the usual dishes, Kleftiko, Stifado,chicken/pork souvlaki. My wife's favourite is the Moussaka, and if it's available, I very highly recommend my favourite, Sheftelia, as it is the best I've tasted outside of Cyprus! I would highly recommend Demetrios and will certainly be visiting again whilst I'm down here on my Easter holidays! Andy & Chris from Doncaster

Thought we were going to an authentic Greek restaurant, was the worst we have ever been to. Food was bland, no effort at all, everything chucked on the plate, rice wasn’t even drained properly! When Dolma was not available, limited vegetarian option, charged £15 for a bit of halloumi, soggy rice and basic salad! When when we asked for pitta, they asked how many, usually a restaurant would give you a basket filled as standard! Terrible customer service, didn’t even check on us or ask if everything was ok. Restaurant is large but most tables empty, not even any music playing, atmosphere is like greasy spoon cafe! Do not recommend at all!

Visited for the first time this year and had Sunday lunch (on Mother's day). Eva and family made us very welcome and we had melon (English menu) and hummus (Greek menu) starters followed by a wonderful Lamb Kleftiko with four vegetables together with mixed meats (lamb and pork) Souvlaki with chips and salad. We celebrated the Sunday with Banana sundae and Baklava followed by caffetiere coffees. As mentioned in previous posts the food was excellent with large quantities. All the staff were welcoming to obviously returning families (celebrating the day) which made it an enjoyable lunchtime. We will return soon.

We have visited Athens and Ios in the spring of 2023. Demetrios is every bit as welcoming and offers delicious and authentic Greek food. Great food, great wine, great service. We were so well looked after by the owner and her staff. We were staying locally but will definitely return. Fantastic restaurant 👌

Came here for my mums birthday, and it certainly lived up to their reviews to date! A friendly greeting awaits in a calm and peaceful atmosphere in this family run restaurant, staff were amazing and were welcoming, flexible and always on hand, we had our 5 month year old with us In A buggy and it was no problem at all for them to accommodate him! The food from start to finish was brilliant, some of the best halloumi, calamari & prawn cocktail we’ve ever had! The lamb was so great! It literally fell apart! The chicken was so tasty! The baklava was so delicious! They do accommodate for gluten free and other requirements! They staff were very happy to allow us to bring in a cake for a happy birthday sing along! 100% worth a visit! We will be I’m coming back!

A warm welcome from the staff . Restaurant was empty but didn’t spoil our visit. Super lamb kleftico . Open despite trip advisor saying it was closed! Sadly I was full or would have had a desert. I would highly recommend and revisit if I was in the area.

Arrived after a 2 hour drive that was well worth it. I called ahead of our visit as the fish was so good last time I wanted the same quality again. This time I went for sea bass and was not disappointed. All the food was put together so well and was hot, which is not what you get in some restaurants. Pat, Eva and Leah made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I wish that it was closer as would then go more often. Looking forward to our next visit.

We went as a family for a meal at Demetrios last Saturday night. Wonderful family who own the restaurant,Wonderful food,Wonderful welcome. Ate outside as a nice evening. Had a baby with us and they were more than willing to warm baby's dinner. Best moussaka I've ever had all cooked fresh there same as all other food they serve. We were staying in a rented house nearby and looking for somewhere good to eat one evening. We had a really delicious meal at Demetrios. I have Coeliac Disease so we weren't sure whether or not they could cater for me but it was no problem and they couldn't have been more helpful. We can't recommend thr restaurant more highly. We're just thinking of booking the same house next year so will definitely return if we do!

What an odd restaurant! We had the greatest difficulty getting the staff to understand what we wanted. There was no decaffeinated coffee. It was all so expensive. Not somewhere I would return to.

Eva and Pat are so welcoming and friendly, they create a real family atmosphere. The food is so well cooked and presented, giving an excellent authentic Cypriot/Greek experience. If you are that way inclined, there is also an excellent English menu too.It is uch a wonderful and value for money experience.

We walked over here twice whilst staying at Romney Sands with 7 and 2 year old.Friendly atmosphereFish and chips were lovely, fresh flaky fish, crispy batter and not oily.The grilled meats were tasty.Tried the beef in red wine sauce which was simple yet delicious. Could have been cooked longer but personal choice.Would recommend and return

Good food, reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere - what more could you want. We had the Greek menu and it was very nice, we ordered a selection of cold dips and halloumi to start and then Pork Souvlaki for mains. Lovely.

Demetrio's is a lovely, friendly little place by the seaside and ideal for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The Greek desserts were a particular highlight and we also greatly enjoyed the calamari, chicken kebabs and Greek salads.

Me and my 2 friends visited this restaurant as we was staying for a few days in the area, the restaurant was on trip advisor as one of the top 10 places to eat at in Romney the place did not disappoint the food and service was absolutely amazing.The restaurant is a very bright and authentic Greek we was served by one of the owners she was very welcoming and friendly it turns out that the restaurant is family owned and had been in the same location since 1974 and only run by the family.The food was just amazing along with the exceptional service it was a shame for us that it was our last day in Romney or we would have eaten there again.

They open April until October and make no pretence at sophistication. Good ingredients and a lack of artistry seems to be working well for them and their customers. We would never have seen Greatstone on Sea, or heard of it, had we not booked a Greek meal months ago. We shared an excellent Greek Salad. Casserole of lamb with thick cut chips, followed by a Greek pastry with ice cream and strawberries and cream. This consisted of putting whole strawberries into a large glass coupe, and tipping a quarter of a pint of double cream over it, so using a tablespoon, it was greatly enjoyed!!!The decor can be seen in the photos. You go here to eat no frills and we enjoyed the wholesome food. A glass of wine plus a small bottle fizzy water £55 including tip. Very friendly staff as you would expect.

I am 66 and never been to a Greek Restaurant, my partner Gill persuaded me to go, so glad I did as son as we entered the restaurant we were greeted with a very friendly lady, we were shown to our tableWe ordered our drinks and meal, I had Lamb and roast potatoes, it's the best Lamb I have ever tasted was superb so was the pudding, my partner said the same, the 2 sister's that served us were absolutely brilliant very friendly, we enjoyed having a chat with them, and we also had a chat with mum, it's the best restaurant we have ever been to, was like going round a friend's house for dinnerIt was a cracking time would definitely go back could not fault it and very good value for money, would definitely go back their if we go doen their on holiday againGive it a try you will not be disappointedSteve & Gill

Demetrios is one of a vanishing breed. Family run Greek restaurants used to be everywhere but sadly they are increasingly hard to find these days. Thankfully we still have Demetrios. The restaurant is large and the decoration is pretty plain, and it was not busy. This was more than made up for by Eva, the larger than life manageress with whom we shared reminiscences from her North London youth. The food is good straightforward but delicious Cypriot cooking and very reasonable.

Had a fabulous meal here whilst holidaying down the road. We had a lovely welcome and we’re made to feel right at home throughout.The moussaka was delicious! And the kebabs were so flavoursome. We also had baklava for dessert, which was lovely! If we lived nearby we would be regulars here! This place gives off an authentic Cypriot vibe and it took me right back to my childhood when we would go to Cyprus every year!

We found this place after a stroll on the beach at a windy Dungeness and electing not to try the fried food available at the pub there. So glad we did! From the minute you walk in the door you are welcomed with Greek style hospitality. They make you feel so welcome instantly and needless to say we really enjoyed our food too (we both had the souvlaki). Thank you and see you next time we are in the area!

Excellent food. Had the lamb with rice and salad could not fault it. Wife had vegetarian kebab excellent. Banana sundae , a couple of beers and a proper mug of tea. Very nice people running the establishment. COVID has damaged all restaurants but this one is well worth the visit.Car park next door. We enjoyed it. We found this restaurant during a walk along the beach. We hadn’t booked a table in advance so we were lucky to get a space. We were greeted and sat down by a lovely lady called Eva. My partner and I both chose the chicken kebabs and they were honestly the best I’ve tasted and it truly felt like we were back in our beloved Cyprus! This really is a truly wonderful place and reminded me of how restaurants really should be. Run by the same family for 40 years and I can totally see why it’s been such a success. Eva is wonderful and it was certainly service with a smile! We cannot wait to come back!

We spent a week in Dungeness & visited Demetrios twice on the recommendation of one of the locals. We were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious, melt in the mouth slow cooked lamb & beef & succulent chicken kebabs. My daughter & I & our dog were made extremely welcome by the delightful & charismatic family who have run this restaurant for 47 years. A lovely experience.

I love this place just like sitting in a friends house and Eating and drinking and enjoying good times. I will definitely visit again and again. We just randomly walked in with daughter,son in-law and two grandkids on bank holiday Monday and loved it. I had the chicken kebab and home made chips it was soo good I ordered another one instead of having desert. The staff were so welcoming and the owner she reminded me of a friends grandma who used to look after us every time we walked into the house. We wasn’t disappointed with anything

I visited with my family over the weekend. As there were 6 of us we tried a variety of dishes. The seafood was below average and the chicken skewers were too salty. The wine was not opened at the table and didn't taste like Shiraz.Not a place I would visit again. It aspires to average.

We had a lovely lunch today at Demetrios. Super friendly service, we had a great chat with the family that have owned this restaurant for over 40 years and were made to feel really welcome. The food was great and we will be returning - don’t drive past - drop in ! They are open most days of the week I believe - not sure why the opening hours shown here on Tripadvisor don’t reflect that. See you all again.

We (1 dad, 2 kids, 2 grandparents) were staying locally for a week within walking distance of this place and we are here twice, with my parents going back a third time! If you're expecting super fast service or opulent surroundings then this place is not for you - but if you're after a chilled, family friendly vibe and delicious freshly cooked food (the dolmades were in the top 3 I've ever tasted, including good restaurants in Greece and Cyprus!) then you're into a winner.In just about every way this place feels like an actual Cypriot taverna. If that's your thing- and it very much is mine! - then you should make a beeline for this place. Highly recommended.

The food here is amazing!! Cooked perfectly and large portions. It was so good we even booked to come back the following evening. The family who run the restaurant are lovely, very welcoming. Even my son who never finishes his whole dinner cleared his plate! Would love to visit again.

We visited this restaurant while we were on holiday with close family. The staff were so welcoming even though we had 5 excited children with us. Delicious food and a good selection. The portion sizes were good and the side salad was an impressive greek salad, not the usual couple of pieces of rocket that you get in most restaurants. We went back twice in the 4 days we were in Kent. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely atmosphere on entering The waitress was most welcoming as we entered. The choice from the both English and creek menu was good traditional dishes, wholesome and Cooked very well a generous helping awaits at a good price and above all is very tasty!Looking at the rest of the menu there is an equally great choice. 40 of us met for lunch at Demetrios. We had selected 5 choices of main course, 2 Greek, 2 English and omelette, and informed the restaurant of our choices a few days prior.The meals started to be served slighly before our scheduled 1 pm slot and with so many of us it took a while for everyone to be served. The omelettes were last, obviously freshly cooked.I went to speak to each group briefly after the main course and everyone was happy with their meal. I think mine was the only plate not completely empty and that was because the portion was so generous I couldn't eat it all!

The proprietor accommodated 7 of us for a meeting prior to lunch. when we ordered service was prompt. There is a varied Greek and English menu.The Dolmades and Moussaka were excellent . Other choices were well received in the main. A few little comments, the moussaka could have been hotter, the proprietor said she would have reheated it. I had a coffee on arrival and it was excellent. Some desserts were chosen and all looked lovely and were enjoyed.

Although we've been before we took family recently and were really pleased when they commented on how much they enjoyed their meals, moussaka, fish and chips, omelette, lamb choose, followed by strawberry cheesecake, eton mess, peach melba and banana split. Not a scrap left on anyone's plate

This is a Greek based restaurant with family straightforward cooking. The place is relaxed and informal and absolutely not flash. The food is perfectly good and we enjoyed it, but it is like good home cooking. The wine wasn't bad either and very reasonably priced. All in all a good place for a satisfying evening.

In the middle of the world’s loneliest road there is a point. It takes the form of a single poplar tree, the only living thing in Route 50’s 3000 mile stretch across the American plains. You can’t miss it. At either end of Route 50 there’s not much either; one brothel at the start, another at the end. The Ranch of Donna’s to the east and Su Prong’s Birdhouse Fantasy Club to the West. You can’t miss them.
