Delphi Cafe & Restaurant in Wakefield

Popped in for a meal for myself and my partner tonight (Saturday). I had the cod and my partner had chicken. Food was lovely and tasty could not fault it. Highly recommended.

Loved this restaurant. Been here on a normal day out and also on one of the greek nights with live music. Lovely atmosphere and the owner is such a lovely man. On my list of favourite places.

Absolutely delicious food and very good value. It was empty on a Saturday though, which is odd, maybe because it isn't obvious what it is. I wish more people knew to go!

Greek night. Lots of fun, nice food, musician was bit louder than we would have liked, it was difficult to talk over the noise.

Had a lovely breakfast the best ive had for a long time cup of tea included. Would definitely recommend this place coming back for the gyros and greek saled which i have heard are excellent i will be back! Christmas dinners will be coming in november so will be coming for that aswell everybody needs to try this restaurant its excellent. Fab owner aswell lovely greek music to relax after xmas shopping aswell😊

My friend and I visited yesterday evening following a recommendation by my daughter. The food was amazing, and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

Great little find in Wakefield. Service was great, the pita with tzaziki kept coming, the stifado was delicious and we will likely visit again as soon as possible.

OMG. Back in Wakefield again. And OMG twice, just look at this plate of food! Filleted Icelandic cod with fresh vegetables & mash. Steamed in no time + small glass house white wine: tad over £10. Prices go up in the evening but even so. Perfect after day out walking in South Yorkshire 😋👌

Amazing food, service, music, in the city centre, but price for small amount of chicken souvlaki and salad, smal 0,33 beer is a joke. 14,50 pound.

Booked on a whim, empty when we got there (admittedly an early Tues evening), but my Lord the food was absolutely delicious, best Greek food I've had in the UK. Highly, highly recommended.

Went to eat here tonight as we love Greek food and we weren’t disappointed. The fantastic reviews are totally deserved. We have already booked to come back.

We love this little greek place. During the day we can get full English breakfast all day, or an amazing beef stew and all the trimmings, there's even burgers. Then at night it's a proper greek restaurant with wonderful greek food. Staff are welcoming and helpful, and a family run place.... Perfect

You'll not get food as authentic as this outside of Greece. The souvlaki was absolutely amazing. I never knew this restaurant was here and stumbled across it on a shopping trip. Alex is typically Greek friendly. Brilliant to see in Wakefield. A new regular place for eating out for me

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Delphi Restaurant lovely people and exceptional Greek dishes on offer. Reasonably priced.

Came for lunch, the food really disappointed me. I made moussaka at home myself and this restaurant's mousakka reminded iceland's fast food baked in the oven and even burned. The grilled chicken was tastelles and dry. Maybe it's better experience at dinner, but I don't think I will ever dare to step in there again. There are better places to eat in Wakefield for this price tag.

My friend and I called in on our way to the theatre We were a little bit dubious when we stood outside but so delighted we went in ! The owner was so welcoming and helpful and the food was brilliant – Fabulous tasty Greek food at reasonable prices. Can’t wait to return again!!

Eating at Alex's restaurant was a highlight of our trip to Wakefield; alongside The Hepworth Wakefield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Alex made us very welcome, went out of his way to have a choice of fish for our supper on our return visit. We went back on our second evening because his cooking was so good first time round. He also makes a powerful espresso coffee.

A hidden gem in Wakefield Popped in on a Monday evening the chef/owner was so accommodating. Quality of food, cooked to perfection was amazing Will certainly be back

Beautiful traditional Greek food in a great atmosphere.

Terrible experience at the Delphi Overcooked tasteless meat inedible sweets that came straight out the freezer I left the backlava on the plate as I couldn’t get my knife through the so called pastry. Overpriced food that does not resemble anything I’ve sampled in Greece One thing for certain I will never eat here again. If the owner would like to discuss my experience feel free to drop me a line

Came for lunch. The owner/waiter man was so so friendly! He offered to make some tapas and we also ordered mains.. absolutely beautiful food and 100% would go back..he was so happy to help and offered dishes..gave us discount and free coffee ! Fab thankyou for wonderful day. Alice

We have just had a lovely lunch at Delphi restaurant. Beautiful Greek wine and cuisine followed by some homemade Baklava. Friendly waitress service with the owner Alex coming out and sharing the interesting history of the bottle of wine on our table. They are open for lunch but also for evening meals. We had three different meals including Lamb Klefiko all beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. We will return!! Thank you Alex. Date for your diary. Wonderful food. Really tasty, moussaka, soulvaki and a brilliant lamb tagine. Hand made dips for the pitas. Top salad too. All topped off with an excellent baklava. Really friendly place with exceptional food.

Had a Fab meal here, party of four, nothing was too much trouble, and all food was delicious. Ate too much but the temptation was too great. Home made meze of dessert, apple crumble and baklava. Will I go back, without a doubt, just eat a little less. Well done, Phil

I totally recommend this place, top quality staff. I forgot what the lad was called who was nice to talk to. He had ginger hair and was quite tall. He made my day for that reason I'm going to go there more often 💯

Loved it, can't get to Greece this year so a little bit of Greece in Wakefield is always good. Food was heaven....absolutely gorgeous. Staff and chef were brilliant, didn't pester but was there when needed. Been before and will go again!

Awesome, friendly restaurant. Had a lovely meal here this week. Dishes are well cooked and generous. Service is really lovely and quick. The owner came out for a chat, too. Seems that things have been quiet post-pandemic. I'd urge anyone of thinking to go. Support this really friendly restaurant, which serves delightful food.

Cannot fault the place. Amazing food, takes you away to the Greek Islands! Alex's Gyros are to die for, and the coffee is wonderfully fresh. Alex himself is a real gent, can't recommend this place enough.

We have regularly visited here and, during the pandemic, have enjoyed takeaways too. Tucked away from the main Westgate Road, this little gem looks small and understated. But this place has the staff, food and atmosphere of a fantastic Greek taverna (shame Wakefield doesn’t have the Mediterranean weather too!). Incredibly welcoming and the owners and staff go the extra mile to make you and your family feel relaxed and ensure you have a great evening. Alex’s cooking is phenomenal every time and, although the kleftiko is a definite favourite, it’s all so good that a meze really is the best way to dine here to experience it all. His partner Julie keeps our 5 year old amazed with her Pokemon knowledge and, much the same way as the Greeks do on your holidays, welcomes you in as though you are family. Exceptional value and you will most definitely not go home hungry. You may go home very merry though if you accept the ouzo at the end. The Baclava is better than most I’ve had in Turkey and Greece and well worth a sweet indulgence even if you feel stuffed beyond belief.

I discovered husband's planned surprise at the last minute so changed the order massively. this was accepted with no issue and when delivered, despite some extra cost, they wouldn't accept any money. The food was simply amazing - special shout for the lamb kleftiko. Very special. The mezze is super full of so many wonderful flavourful dishes. Can't speak highly enough of this very special local-ish restaurant. Thankyou!

Just ordered a second take away from here and we weren't disappointed either. Genuine Greek food very well presented even though it was take away. Cant wait to come to the restaurant and eat, absolutely will be reordering again very good value for money. Bravo in these very tough times.

Best takeaway I've had in lockdown ☺ amazing food , very quick delivery . Arrived on time . Food was HOT rather than the usual warm from other takeaways . The food itself was delious , very well cooked , my compliments to the chef The mixed mezze for 2 was great , the keftedes best I've ever had. Will definitely be going to restaurant once lockdown is over , and have a few takeaways in the meantime.

In these extraordinary times going out for a birthday meal isn't easy or even possible. So we ordered a takeaway from the Delphi Greek Restaurant in Wakefield. We were given a window of 30 minutes after we called. We arrived and the food was piping hit and waiting for us. I had the feta and spinach parcels to start and the Gyros pitta with chips for my main. Blooming awesome and the tzatziki and Salad were delicious. The food was reasonably priced and there was plenty of food.. I would certainly recommend it..

We ventured here when the eat out to help out was on. The food was Absolutely superb. I had the lamb for main course.We couldn’t recommend it enough, and for us it typified the eat out to help out scheme. A local business that we tried because it was cheaper than usual, and so glad we have found it. We will be back.

Great qulity family restaurant, good selection of food and friendly quicl service

Starters were nice mains which was lamb was dissapointing. Very fatty more like a lamb stew than a Greek dish.

Visited here on the recommendation of a friend, and really glad I did. Like many places during August it was very busy due to the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme. Despite a very busy restaurant the service from everyone was great, and the meal was fantastic. We love Greek food, so it’s great to have a lovely Greek restaurant nearby. We will be back now that the scheme has ended.

Enjoyed another lovely meal at Delphi last night for our anniversary, it was lovely to be able to enjoy delicious food outside our own 4 walls! Julie and all the staff made us very welcome. If you havent visited this little gem then I can highly recommend it. We will also have to try their collection service xx

Very good service and the food is delicious 😋. The staff are always willing to accommodate when it comes to making your meal what you want. They have a big selection of food on their menus and the prices are perfect. I've brought a lot of people with learning disabilities and they're always made to feel welcome. They're very family friendly and somewhere you can bring the kids for a nice meal or meet up with a friend for a quick cuppa.

We collected a take away as it was before restaurants could reopen. We ordered beef stifado, moussaka, cod and prawn saganski and lamb tagine for mains with spanakopita for side. We've been to Greece many times and the food definitely tasted as if we were there, given we would have been there if our flights hadn't been cancelled! We will return for the great food - recommended.

I have always enjoyed Delphi. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very welcoming due to being a family run business.

I once went to this restaurant with my friend and we had the loveliest meal.. Roll on 6ish years later and we never gave got around to going back what with kids and what not. Well due to lockdown they've started takeout. This is the best news! I ordered lamb tagine with was melt in mouth good and piping hot. The kebab was delish and although the chips looked like they might be hard they were absolutely spot on. They've also started doing gyro which practically went down in one. Pictures don't do it justice. Absolutely gorgeous and it felt like proper food too. Whole family (fusy eater kids) raved about it!

The restaurant has opened for collection only at the minute i believe We called and collected moussaka and tzatziki and were given a free shot of ouzo.The food was absolutely fantastic and was thoroughly enjoyed .If you fancy a really good meal and something just a little bit different from the usual take out food then try here.You wont be disappointed.

Booked a table for Saturday evening for the 2 of us. Really friendly welcome and offered the set mezw menu or the a-la. Chose the set menu with the Boss choosing lamb for main course and moussaka for me. Excellent quality - absolutely top notch and plenty to eat. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and hygiene standards excellent. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I ate at the Delphi last night. We shared the garlic prawns to start which were delicious and I had moussaka and my husband had marinated chicken - both were awesome. Julie looked after us all evening, service was spot on. We’ll definitely be back, can’t believe we haven’t been before!

We had a fabulous evening meal here. Tried the £20 meze deal and cannot fault anything on there. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff are welcoming and very pleasant and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Credit to the chef can’t wait to return
