Deli-Ca-Sea in Highland

The place where the locals go! Great serving sizes, quality product and excellent prices. One of the locals told this was the best place to eat and he wasn’t wrong. Highly recommend, lots of awards and speedy friendly service.

Maximum sized fish and chips and delicious too I ordered a medium haddock and chips which to be honest was massive. If they was “medium” I’d hate to see that large one. Fried in sunflower oil, the chips were light and crisp, the fish moist and delicious. Well worth a visit if simple honest food is what you crave

We are not really chippy people, but caravanning opted not to cook. Very happy we didn't, chips, fish and chicken burger were very good. Not greasy and reasonably priced. Will visit again on our next trip.

Crab sandwiches made freshly while we chatted, plus oysters shucked as soon as they were requested. We took them out to a bench overlooking Loch Broom - heavenly!

Similar price and quality to at home which is VERY good. Fish was nicely cooked with crispy batter but fish wass half the size I expected at the price and the size chips are 1/8th of the portion size. I base these comments on portion sizes based on what you get in Birmingham UK. Maybe they are supper generous in Brum!

Much better than you’d think from the outside. Really fresh and tasty fish & chips cooked to order, good portions and friendly staff. Fab location meant we could enjoy our meals on the beach (while being wary of watching seagulls!!)

Our family had a takeout from here and it was lovely. We had 3 jumbo battered sausages with chips and a haddock and chips. Good portions, nicely cooked and friendly staff. Also you can buy bottles of chip shop vinegar too bonus.

Greasy soggy chips and an undercooked sausage, I am not sure how this place manages to get good reviews but my food was very poor, check your food is cooked properly before eating it, basic food prep and hygiene needs to be addressed.

Wasn't the friendliest of welcomes when we walked in , a smile goes a long way We ordered fish & chips x 2 @ £14 per person , fish good chips average portion size of chips poor , my daughter had chips & chese with a sausage, THEY CHARGE £5FOR A SINGLE SAUSAGE ! , YES £5 BASIC PORK SAUSAGE , when I questioned the price as I'd already paid , i was told its ordered now in an abrupt manner , so in total this came to £45 .... JUST FELT CHEATED

On my Second trip, the First being why we returned. Ordered 2 large fish n chip's. Chatting n laughing to really lovely owner's while waiting. Got back and opened up to a massive Haddock n Chips Supper, it was so tasty, beautiful batter not oily, better than the first Cod supper. We'll be back....Highly recommend Ullapool just for this chippy!

Worst steak pie ever. Dry, no gravy and over baked. 3 tiny pieces of meat. Pukka pie in Scotland! Shame on you. Buy traditional chippy pies from local producer. Not to be recommended. Total waste of money.

Local para recoger básicamente Fish & Chips en la zona del puerto (paseo) de Ullapool. Super auténtico, riquísimo y precios súper correctos. Si el tiempo lo permite, puedes comértelos sentado en los bancos que hay justo enfrente, mirando el puerto y el agua. No venden alcohol- nosotros fuimos a buscar unas cervezas Tennant en la gasolinera (7 min andando). Hazlo de camino y así ya las tienes y te sientas a comer directamente. Absolutamente recomendable. Por cierto. De Ullapool salen ferries a islas. Maravilloso.

We've visited lots of places in Scotland and UK. This was the tastiest fish supper we've had. We had breaded fish and it was so light but not greasy and chips fresh and light too. We'll definitely return to Ullapool for a fish supper. Amazing...

Dropped in for a coffee. Lovely & very friendly gent served us. Came out with fresh oysters (delicious) and hot smoked salmon sandwiches (also delicious). No skimping on the fillings.

We ALWAYS have fish & chips from here when we visit Ullapool! The fish is FRESH (not frozen), chips aren't greasy AND portions are good. Wouldn't go anywhere else - it's where the 'locals' go!!

Great fish and chips, no grease, lovely crispy batter on the fish, freshly cooked to order. Good to see queuing system in place to keep orders and collections separate. Friendly staff too. Sitting by the harbour to eat in the sunshine was such a treat...

I ate here for an easy takeaway supper. I had a salt and pepper squid supper which was really tart and not greasy at all. Would definitely return.

The 'medium chips' portion was about 20 chips in a tiny box- RIP OFF!!!! And the woman working there spoke to me like i was a stupid teenager- i'm in my late 30's... she spoke down to me & THE SMALL PORTION OF CHIPS THEY...

Had fish, chips, mushy peas (Yorkshire caviar) and a bread cake from here tonight. Very big portions and very tasty too. Much better than the Seaforth round the corner. We'll visit again next time we're up.

Decided to try as walking past and seem to have people waiting, the cod and chips was a regular but I couldn’t finish it all (my husband did though) crispy batter and chips were lovely not a bit greasy

Always look forward to my Haggis or Black Pudding super when I visit Ullapool. Over the years this chippy has never let me down. Large portions freshly cooked and pleasnt staff. Even though Ullapool is a tourist trap they have kept the prices competitive. Recommended.

Amazing Fish and Chips, we visited twice in a week. Very busy and all cooked fresh, large portion sizes. Only negative is the girl on the counter was rude when interacting, all other staff were very friendly.

Not the best idea ring number on shop window which is a miracle if any body responds then you have to give card details to a rude girl then about 20 minutes later after standing across the street you get your order which is not...

Turned up at Ullapool at 1930 on a Saturday night. Place was hooching (very busy). Went to the Seaforth Chippie and they said they had just closed. Curious decision me thinks, but in these COVID days, you cannot judge. I asked if there was anywhere else and the girls said that there was a chippie just round the corner towards the ferry terminal. Round I went. The fish supper was superb and a real candidate for a fork lift truck. The fish just fitted into their standard box on a packed bed of chips; fast and efficient service despite the COVID arrangements. Very highly recommended.

Nice friendly staff, my husband had a medium haddock and chips which was huge, freshly made and very tasty I had stornoway black pudding supper which was wonderful. Yes we had to stand outside which I expected but there was a quick turnaround. Well done!

We have just eaten at this unassuming chippy and were served up the best fish and chips we have ever eaten. Chips cut from real potatoes (a rarity theses days!), soft delicate flaky fish cooked in a thin crispy batter. And, as if that’s not enough, the container was full and a hearty portion that would satisfy the hungriest of travellers.Fantastic.

Called in here for traditional fish and chips , staff not local , rude , bad attitude . Don’t bother going here . Never been treated so bad in my life . Had Mickey Mouse screens up , had more insects in there than on a David Attenborough programme . Had to stay in street . Contactless only ( I agree ) . Have no manners at all . Need to go on several courses . Seagulls had a great lunch though

Whilst this may be one of the best fish supers I’ve eaten, the staff at Deli-ca-Sea are some of the rudest I’ve encountered. Last Friday 4th September 2020 it was pouring - we had to order then wait outside because of Covid. The awning was out and we were their only customers so my 60 year old wife sheltered here. The young girl serving said we should wait outside the awning and retracted it so we couldn’t stay dry. Unbelievable! Im all for observing social distancing but this was an appalling example of youthful arrogance. Very disappointing.

Ordered one haddock supper, one breaded plaice supper, calamari rings and peas and curry sauce Our eyes were bigger than our bellies. We could have shared one portion of chips and not needed the calamari. My haddock was excellent and the batter was nice

Owner is a complete thug with a properly bad attitude towards customers. I parked at the side of his shoddy cabin while placing an order and he came out of the shop shouting for the owner to move because the two parking spaces outside NEXT DOORS shop belong to him. I moved immediately yet still the tirade continued. There are clearly no signs to indicate that this parking bay is in any way private other than a couple of cones (see pics), which as I took them he drove up nearly flattening me and had another go. He just wouldn't let it drop and several customers outside his shop commented on his aggressive attitude and threatening behaviour. As we left he came out again and threated my wife and I so we sped off in the car. Won't be coming back and strongly advise you avoid too. The food is average and the service poor plus you run the risk of committing some heinous crime as policed by the thug of an owner.

We really enjoyed our fish and chip supper from Deli-ca-Sea. The system for ordering and collection works well and demonstrates a good understanding of good practice re: hygiene and Covid security. I can't help but think some of the reviews on this page are malicious. They bear no resemblance to the meal we had. I'd go back. Food was yummy.

Self catering for the week further down Shore Street and ended up using this place on 5 separate occasions, as most food establishments in the village were take away only for the time being.Quite frankly we reckon the haddock and chips were the best we have ever tasted in the UK!....and we are regular visitors to the Magpie Cafe in Whitby....it was so fresh and simply melted in your mouth....fabulous! Good portion sizes as well...often more than you could eat.

Had the medium fish supper,£7.80, shortly after it opened for lunch. The fish was OK but the Chips " if I can call them chips " were the worst chips I have had in a very long time. They were hard and chewy, like they had been lying overnight and had been re-fried. They certainly were not fresh. This is the second chip shop I have visited after lock down and the last one was just as bad. Are they cutting corners to help boost their profits. It appears that way. Think I will give the chippies a rest, until things get back to a more normal standard ( if that`s possible )

We decided to go here as it was cheaper than the Seafood Bar, but still a lot £7.95 for medium fish and chips.We had a pot of gravy and mushy peas both nice and thick.Had to ask for forks and pay extra for ketchup.The fish was good inside just too much batter for us.Piping hot so no complaints there, just a little underwhelmed if I'm honest.If they lowered the price to say £6:50 then they'd be taking lots of business off the other shops and turning a good profit. Putting prices up to basically rip off the tourists is good for the pocket not good for the reviews, we wouldn't return.Wish I'd gone to the Seafood Shack on the road above it past the public toilets.

We had a fish supper from here before we boarded the ferry. It was really busy and I was expecting it to be really good. I was quite disappointed as the fish was ok but very greasy and soggy and the chips were pretty poor. Overall it was ok.

Finished my meal in about 5 minutes, haddock & chips. Thinnest piece of haddock I’ve ever seen in my life, guessing they made that one haddock stretch quite far. Paid about £8-9 for it.. guessing they are just ripping tourists eyes out. Wasn’t even a lot of chips to go with the little thin haddock.

Usually the fish is cooked perfectly here but on this occasion it was overcooked and tough, chips were perfect though crunchy and delicious.

We've tried the nearby competition and they are expensive. Deli-Ca-Sea menu prices were more to our liking. So, having checked out the clueless competition we unanomously decided to try out Deli-Ca-Sea - who were able to confirm their suppliers / sources of the raw materials - which was better then the competition, who could not answer, despite the counter staff asking the behind the scenes 'cooks'...... The clear worktops and serving area gave an air of confidence that those that work here know what they are doing, and take pride in their work, and work environment.The menu is well laid out and easy to read, making mix n' matching easy. The choice of dishes is broad enough for almost every taste possible - something for everyone to eat.Arriving soon after opening we half expected that some of the chips may be re-heats, but we were WRONG... ALL the food we ordered was FRESHLY prepaired and cooked, and we were soon to find out - tasted simply delicious.Not only was the pricing good, the knowledgeable friendly service good, and the fresh food good, the served up portion sizes were extremely good too. It was also a good expeience to stuff our faces to the brim with whopping portions, that we simply struggled to finish, but being Scots, we pushed the boat out and managed to (eventually) eat the lot. Clean plates all round. What a great experience....Simply put......... WELL DONE to Deli-Ca-Sea team. We WILL be Baaack....

Great take away fish n chips, the best in the village, always fresh,sometimes specials on depending on the local catch. If it’s a fine day then you can do no better, than sit at the harbour with Davy’s fish and chips, it honestly doesn’t get any better

Food is typically good fish and chips with limited seating but across the street there are tables on the seawall. You can get into the ambiance of the docks with swooping gulls while boats are moving in the harbor. Seafood is good here.

We took a run up to Ullapool to see the Christmas lights and decided to have a chippy for our tea.We arrived up about 4.30pm and went straight to Deli-Ca-Sea, there was only 1 customer in front of us so we ordered a large Haddock supper and a chicken fillet supper, our fish and chicken were freshly cooked so we had to wait a few minutes for them to be ready.As it was a nice afternoon we just ate outside the chippy, the fish was delicous and melted in the mouth, the chips were well cooked and very tasty, our son also enjoyed his chicken.It cost us just over £17 for the 2 suppers which was decent enough value.

I was first time in Scotland. Traveled with friends from stop to stop. It is difficult to find really good fish and chip shop in Scotland (really surprised). But finally we found it (thanks to trip advisor). Amazing fresh fish and chips, well cooked. Perfect batter! I love it!!!!

Our first and only fish&chips during our road trip on the NC500 with friends, we trusted the other advices...and we were very satisfied ! I've never eaten such a fresh fish (and I live near the sea !). Not disappointed, even without any sauce it was delicious. And so big I couldn't finish my fries ! Eat it on the beach, it's the best way to enjoy it ;).

Stopped in to buy some chips for a quick snack. Have to say that my wife and I were amazed at just how good these chips were. Absolutely beautiful. I'd say the perfect chip! No grease or oil anywhere in the tray. Crisp crunchy outer with soft fluffy inner. Just how it should be. Wishing I had tried their fish. Next time for sure.

Wanted a quick evening meal so stopped here as it looked good. Husband fixated on having fish and chips, me after reading menu decided on black pudding and chips, be immediately changed his mind. Cooked to order, with some lovely local banter going on took our boxes to the pier to eat. I really think we might dtop on the return journey, two pieces of crispy battered black pudding with chips. Utter heaven.

I've eaten take away fish and chips in just about every part of the UK and the haddock and chips was simply the best I have ever tasted! Freshly cooked for us and not kept warm for ages. Portions are generous not quite as big as at our local chippy but generous! Friendly staff too!

We stopped in Ullapool fir one niggt, as catching the ferry to Stornoway the next morning. This takeaway was near to the campsite so hence why we chose it. Our order consisted of fish and chips with curry sauce, bbq pulled pork with chips and a chicken burger. The chicken in the chicken burger was nice but I was surprised by the absence of a sauce (mayo) and lettuce, i.e. ut was literally the chicken sandwiched between two bits of bread. The portion of chips that came with the fish was very small - there were far more chips with the pulled pork which, again, wasn't too bad to eat. However, we didn't feel the cost of the food that we received represented good value for money.

Judging by the positive reviews we must have picked the wrong night as our food was quite simply awful. Main dissapointment was the battered fish, very soggy and the batter not stuck to the fish just lifted off in a large sheet. When I complained to the young chap who served us, he informed us that it is quite normal for the batter to be soggy as soon as you shut the lid of the box you get condensation inside, and as it is fast food it should be eaten fast to avoid the problem. This statement left me speechless !. On the plus side they did refund the total cost of the carry out as we had not attempted to eat any of it. Wont be back.

Efficient service and great food. I would highly recommend. Not many places to choose from in Ullapool, but if you want good quality, simple food, this place is a good bet.

Does what it says on the the tin. Serves good fish and chips. I wouldn't say it was quite in the excellent class, but well worth a visit.

On y trouve de supers fish and chips à emporter. Le poisson est ultra frais et les portions généreuses. Large choix de poisson. Des tables se trouvent à 1 min à pieds, devant le port, pour pouvoir les déguster. Un régal.

Very busy 'chippy' on the front at Ullapool. Based on the crowds snaking out the door, it's a popular place. We were visiting with family on a Friday night and bought 6 fish 'suppers' and got pennies change from £50 - nice , but pricey - and why does it close at 8:30pm ?!

After having poor service in the other Chip Shop round the corner, I decided to try here, Glad I did!. Even though it was busy the staff got everyone served quickly and in a friendly manner. Ill be back next year,

I can honestly say that the fish supper we had whilst looking across Loch Broom were the best we have had. Great tasting chips and the fish in batter was fantastic. Its a must if you are ever in Ullapool

Not much more you can ask for from a chippy. Terribly welcoming staff and good food. They are also open just late enough that you can have a decent night out on the town and get chippy after.

It was my very first fish&chips; so I do not know how it should be, but it was good :) The service was very friendly, I like how they wanted to help me try new things without being pushy.

This tiny shopfront is the doorway to culinary fish heaven. Never in my 69 years has such a remarkable meal of “fish ‘n chips” tasted so utterly wonderful. Thanks to the lady who fried the Scottish Cod and the friendly lad who dished me the extra chips for use in my exquisite curry sauce. Highly; I mean, highly recommended!
