If possible it would have been no stars. As the former owner of the deli before this man took over I am sad to see this is now just an empty shop. He has left having not paid any of his bills, including staff, I hope he will never do this to anyone again. Keep clear of this man, do not have ANY dealings with him!!

I'm telling everybody about their fabulous Red Leicester cheese - a totally different foodstuff than what you get in the supermarket. All the deli's cheeses are well chosen and kept. Cafe unfortunately at the moment not opening due to 'you know what' but very safe take away service operating. Scones are fabulous - also cakes, pastries & coffee - love it all. You can pick up a picnic and eat it in the park opposite.

Visiting Hexham for 2 nights and we were looking for a cafe or deli to pick up a sandwich for lunch when walking the 8 mile route at Housesteads. The deli at no 4 was a few doors from where we were staying (The Beaumont) and we bought the meal deal at £5 each. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and great value, would thoroughly recommend.

This tiny space above a deli is on Beaumont street opposite the Sele Park. It's a bit cramped and reached by a tiny staircase in the corner. You order downstairs at the counter where you can see what there is on offer. The staff then bring it up to you . Most of the food is homemade, generally made on the premises.

It’s quiet here today which is nice for us but the cafe is so good they deserve to be busy. Great cheese scone - more cheesy than queens hall. Coffee good and generous portion of yummy home made raspberry and white choc cake. Had black bean soup earlier in the week which was also excellent. 3 interesting soups on menu today - not same old squash available everywhere nowadays.

Great lunchtime takeaway deal: £4.99 for a sandwich/panini, cake and a hot drink/cup of soup. Particularly if you go for the soup option, it's a really filling lunch for less than a fiver. They also offer a discount on takeway hot drinks if you bring your own mug. In addition, they have a small upstairs café area which gives great people watching opportunities as it overlooks the abbey opposite.

On our way to the Lake District for the week, we stopped off in Hexham for a couple of hours. After a walk around the town we found this little deli where you could pick up a “Meal Deal for £4.99”. We both got a Panini each, whilst my other half got a Victoria sponge and said it was the best he’s ever had. I had a Bakewell tart which was lovely and an Americano. We took these to sit in Hexham Park as it was gorgeous weather. Quirky little place with local produce to buy too. Definitely recommend to everyone.

Delightful independent deli shop and cafe, crammed with local and artisan chutney, relishes ,jams . Homemade cakes (Gluten Free option availble) and delicious freshly made generously filled sandwiches, panini or wraps, served with a "shot glass" garnish and crisps, Check out the "eat in and takeaway" meal deals, includes a drink and a slice of homemade cake, exceptional value for money! Very friendly and accomodating staff, very cosy seating - only 4 tables, which seat about 9, accessed up a steep flight of stairs, so may not be ideal for some, but don't let this deter you from tasting the fayre on offer! Sitting just opposite Hexham Abbey is this charming deli and tea room. Food is always excellent and has a lovely homemade quality to it, especially the soups. I had a ham salad sandwich from the specials board menu recently and it was delicious. The tea room itself is up a flight of narrow stairs with three or four small tables in close proximity. You might think it's cramped or you might find it cosy. Either way, not the best place to indulge in any sensational gossip or romantic confessions, as you're within earshot of everybody else. Seasonal opening just started at the beginning of April. Nice views from the windows upstairs. Pity the (very pleasant) young waitresses who spend all their time running up and down the stairs carrying people's orders, must keep them super-fit. Somewhat pricey but then it's excellent quality. Highly recommended for a light lunch or snack.

Often walked past here and thought that the food and cakes on display looked good, so today walked up the very steep twisty staircase to get to the seating area. Ordered paninis with tea and a hot latte. Nothing wrong with the drinks but the paninis were somewhat squashed with melted brie cheese oozing out of them served with crisps and a small glass container of salad. It would be interesting to se how other people try to eat these without getting in a mess, but we were the only two upstairs at the time, so it was not to be. Didn't try the cakes so cannot comment. Paid downstairs after negotiating the torturous stairs again, but have impression I was overcharged based on the prices on the blackboard and the drinks prices displayed in the menu. Did not complain or ask assistant to check cost as there were other people in the small downstairs shop area purchasing take away items. Not somewhere we will be returning to as there are better places than this, genuinely felt disappointed.
