Delhi Brasserie in South Oxfordshire

We had lamb balti passander and a veg biriani with naan bread. Flavours and service were excellent and it was all very good value.

What an amazing place. Hassan and the team were awesome. Really nice people. The food was superb and way way better than Gunpowder, Kricket, Masala Zone and all that. We had kebabs, salmon, chicken, pops, paratha…….and it was packed, the vibe was good, the drinks and food spot on. I have lived in London all my life and not been there; thinking a curry in Soho: can’t be great. Wrong: it was a top night and this is now my go-to when you want that curry with partner or mates,

My family and I ordered a takeaway on Friday 17th. I ordered a Chili Tawa Chicken, Bhindi Bhajia, Pilau rice and a Keema Naan. Sadly the Bhindi Bhajia (a favourite) was delivered as an unordered Aubergine dish (Not my favourite, but tasty enough). I wasn’t going to hold up the meal because of that. I ate approximately half of each item and shared some of all except the Keema Naan. The Naan, when I later in the meal ate some on it’s own, tasted ‘doughy’ and uncooked in the middle and the meat filling tasted foul and got spat out and thrown away. Unfortunately I had already eaten some of this Naan by using it as a means of picking up the curry sauce, thereby masking the shortcomings. Later that night and over the next 5 days, to the time of writing this review, I have been extremely ill with a quite severe gastric ‘bug’. It may not have been the Keema Naan, in which case I apologise, but all the evidence seems to point to it. At least a QC of this item should be made. The rest of the meals were very nice and very tasty (Bhindi Bhajia notwithstanding) and no one else suffered any ill effects, so it’s a shame the Naan spoiled it.

Had a takeaway, usually the best we've had. Last two times been appalling. Last one the food was barely digestible. Ended up going in the bin. Unfortunately, we won't be going back agin after many years. Price's have increased, food quality has decreased specifically.

I was looking forward to a good Indian curry and after some research online I decided to go to this place. I ordered King Prawn Delight - £15.95, Pilau rice - £3.50, and minced meat Stuffed Paratha - £3.95 and 2 glasses of white wine the food was bland and did not taste freshly cooked, I even wondered if it was safe to eat. I had some of it but could not carry on eating the food

Convenient town centre location, good decor and sensible table lay out. Really good choice on the menu and staff very helpful giving advice. Didn’t have the usual popadom starter, but the tandoori chicken with rice and taka Dahl was excellent. Good seasoning and nice pieces of chicken. Liked the kulfi ice cream for desert. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good, liked the waiters and the prices were reasonable. Would happily visit again when next in Wallingford.

Great food and service. Was in a large group every thing arrived hot and together. Attentive friendly, accommodating staff.

Ordered take away (to be delivered) and whilst we liked the online order approach (rather than phoning in) it didn’t tell us until we’d paid that our food was going to take 1 hour 15 mins to be with us. Not entirely their fault but we wouldn’t have ordered if we knew it would take that long. Food arrived (15 mins later than expected) and unsurprisingly it was cold. Even if we have a microwave I don’t believe we should be expected to reheat delivered food. The food itself was disappointing. Exceptionally oily onion bhajis and the main dishes tasted unlike we’d ever eaten before. We won’t be ordering again from them.

Superb choice of menu. Given time to collect so all was ready as indicated. The food was delicious freshly cooked and portions were generous. The family were delighted. Well done to the chef.Thoroughly recommend.

This used to be a great curry house. Hadn't been since pre covid. Returned to reheated, tough chicken tikka, 2 curries that were supposed to be different but were exactly the same- one with a chilli on top and hardly any meat in the curry. The service was pleasant but it was overall disappointing.

Way too expensive for the standard of food provided 2 Rothis and one onion bhaji cost £10.50!!!! I know there is inflation but that is a crazy price. They let me off 50p because I complained.... Love light and peace to all.

Always been a great Indian restaurant - been going for years. Great food - great portions - great staff BUT - you need to get rid of the flies in the restaurant!!

This is my second visit to this restaurant, I still feel that it is the best curry house in the UK. Thoroughly recommend this if you are in the area

We spent 53 quid on quite possibly the worst Indian ever . We normally use another one which are closed for refurbishment. Everything was bland . None of the spices were cooked down and it was the all oil . Lamb was definitely mutton again . How this place stays open I have no idea . The supermarket does better Indian and that's rubbish aswell

Had to wait 1hour 20 minutes, however I was OK with that as it was just me. I ordered a prawn puree starter, no lemon to squeeze over. Karahi chicken tikka but sauce too thick, not enough tomatoes a mushroom rice, and a mushroom baji all items just 'warm' when arrived. I can't fault portions, too much for me. A whizz in the microwave sorted the temperature. I think I prefer to visit the restaurant as you can ask questions about the food. I'm not an Indian foodie and need guidance. Also the last time I had a takeaway it was around £15 ish, tonight £25.

Great Indian food deleved on time and hot .between 2 we order 2 meat and 1 vegetarian main rice enough for 2 meals

We echo the previous review, this has been our favourite Indian restaurant for many many many years, and since moving we have still been driving further to get our favourite curry, despite there being closer restaurants to us now. However the takeaway we just had was disgusting. The meat tasted awful and had a really strange consistency. It was how you would expect dog food to taste. Actually, I wouldn’t even feed it to my dogs. We ordered 6 curries between our group and it’s not just that standards have slipped, they were all literally the worst curries we have ever had! Won’t be eating from here ever again. The love affair is officially over...

I have been using the Delhi for 25 years for eating in and have been having takeaways often since the lockdown and the standards have been slipping each time, our meal this evening was the final straw and the meat in both the dishes we had was very strange had a unique taste almost like a coating on it and then the bombay potatoes were cold and the naan breads were cold!!! It certainly wasnt of the standard we have received in years gone by and im sorry to say was very off putting..... we wont be ordering another takeaway anytime soon..... not good

I have ordered from here several times and eaten in too and it has always been fine, up until last weekend. We ordered online and our meal came to around £30.10 as it always does, however when we got our food there were dishes on there that we hadn't ordered and also my vegetarian dish wasn't on there, plus we noticed the receipt on the delivery said £40.00. We called them and explained there seems to have been an error with our order, they were most unhelpful and initially just kept trying to shift the blame saying we must have made an error on our order online and didn't want to do anything about it. However after a few minutes they finally agreed to bring us our missing dishes but wouldn't give us a refund of the £10, again, after a few minutes they offered us £5 back... Anyway, we had gotten over that issue as understand it was probably just a glitch on the website (as they kept saying they had nothing to do with the website and wasn't their problem or fault). They brought us the missing food within a few minutes... I then start eating my VEGETARIAN korma and notice an odd texture - MEAT. There was MEAT in my meal, I don't know if this was lamb or beef. I called them straight away and he was again, rude and unhelpful. He didn't apologise once, then ended up saying I was lying and had put the meat in there on purpose. He then said he had asked his chef if there was meat in the curry but apparently he had said no, I didn't once hear him ask the chef this, but also, obviously the chef didn't put the meat in there on purpose so he isn't going to say yes as he wouldn't have been aware it was in there...He also told me to 'just put it in the food bin'. Eventually after a six minute phone call he said I could have a refund of the one dish or a new one (which he wasn't happy about as didn't want to 'lose money'). We came to the agreement he would bring a new one round, but then called me back and my partner spoke to him this time and eventually he had to actually walk round there with my plate of food to PROVE to them that there was MEAT in my 'vegetarian' dish. All they kept saying was they would lose too much money if they were to refund us as they had already given us £5 back. They used several excused such as, 'we've had a busy night' and 'we've had no other complaints tonight'. In absolute shock and disbelief that a restaurant can accidentally put MEAT in a vegetarian dish and not once apologise, and all they can go on about is their loss?! Eventually after my partner being in there for 40 minutes and speaking to 5 members of staff, they agreed to give us a full refund. The customer service was absolutely appalling and they should be ashamed of themselves.

We ordered take away with delivery. Prawns starter was tasteless and main course (green peas and potatoes) was nothing as I had before. Got paneer instead of potatoes and there was no taste in it at all. Never had a issue with orders in the past.

We ordered a lunchtime takeaway for the whole of our office (12 hungry people). The order was placed through the website, which was very easy to use. We received a confirmation email of the order and an acceptance email to say they had received the order and it would be ready for 1pm. We collected the order with no problems and the front of house staff were very pleasant.Once we had got back to the office everyone tucked in and all loved their choices. The food was delicious and the restaurant threw in a few extras which were greatly appreciated by everyone.

Have visited to eat in as well as enjoying takeaways with no problem in the past. As a result I was very disappointed to get a takeaway that involved half the food being stone cold and the other half being so dried out that I couldn’t imagine it had been cooked fresh. Hopefully just a bad day but so much poorer than my previous experiences. Prior good experiences mean I’ll probably give them one more try before writing this place off as having lost its touch

An excellent Indian with a really good menu. On Tuesday and Wednesday £12.95 meal offer excellent value. Should book for any night as restaurant seems to be very popular.

Ordered a takeaway. They forgot the main course. Meat was tough. Keema Nan poor with hardly any meat in it. Won’t be going back.

Very disappointed!! Food was not tasty and portions so small!! Keema Nan ordered had hardly any mince meat inside!! Took Nan apart to a pinch of Keema was added and thinly spread to as far as it could be stretched!! More onions in the dish than the prawns itself. Will never order from them again!

My wife and I popped into the restaurant on our way back from Abingdon.Arrived about 18.00, welcomed by a smiling happy waiter who showed us to the table, on being seated the waiter pointed out that Tuesday and Wednesday was £12.95 per head for starters, main course, sides, rice and nan bread.When the meal came it was delicious, the portion size of the main course and rice were to much for us to eat, all of it.I recommend you try this restaurant weather or not you had a Indian before.

The website clearly states that Monday you can quote ‘happymonday’ and place an order for collection or delivery to receive 10% off. I asked to confirm the offer price and was informed that it is not for delivery; I stated that it’s on the website at which point they said it’s collection only ... I said we were collecting; at which point they then said it’s only if you eat in! I stated that their website says it’s orders for ‘collection or delivery!’ It says nothing about eating in and it’s on the front page of their website! The man then got rather aggressive and rude on the phone and kept saying what do you want; what do you want very quickly. I said I wanted to confirm the offer and the man said ‘whatever whatever what do you want’. Not impressed and I don’t like false advertising or being ripped off!

Every few months a group of us meet here to catch up and have normally a very nice meal. Over recent years been approximately 10 times!Really disappointing to find last night not as good!!Staff as always were very good, but the food was bland and lacked taste!!

My husband and myself decided to have an Indian meal on the spur of the moment and after looking on the internet for restaurants near where we were staying and decided on the Delhi. We didn’t book a table as we went at 6.15 and didn’t think it was necessary. We were fortunate that they could fit us in. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was very efficient. My husband picked the mixed starter and I had the king prawn Bhuba on purée. These arrived promptly and both very sizeable portions and very tasty. The restaurant had started to fill up by this point and we thought we might have to wait a while for our mains- this was not the case. We both decided on the dupiaza my husband had the king prawn and I had the chicken. My only regret was that I picked the mushroom pilau which when it arrived it was fried and a little on the greasy side for my taste my husband had the plain pilau which was ok. We both had the kingfisher beer my husband had 2 pints and I had a half. The bill was very reasonable being under £50. I would recommend this restaurant but my advice would be to book a table as some people were turned away. This restaurant also does takeaway but this did not hamper the service at the table. Altogether we liked this restaurant and would not hesitate to go again if we were every in the area.

We are stoping overnight in our campervan and came here for dinner - what a find! Just delicious and made up for mediocre pub grub we had had. Highly recommended.

Absolutely faultless. Great customer service, clean, friendly and really tasty food. Huge portions that we couldn't finish. The starters were fantastic and the garlic naan bread was superb! We will definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family.

I have recently moved into the area and haven’t had an Indian for some time. Given that other local restaurants have a particularly poor scores on the doors I decided to go with the Delhi Brasserie.

We always order from here. Always nice food and polite and friendly staff.

Good food, prices are fair, nicely set up restaurant. Service is good and the meal was good quality. Would recommend.

Ordered via Just Eat - which originally said delivery within an hour - but took 90 mins and a reminder phone call to the restaurant. And then an item was missing (on the receipt, but not ticked off or in the bag). Another phone call to get it refunded. Curry was nice but wouldn’t order this way again.

We enjoyed a lovely takeaway from Delhi Brasserie. Food was reasonably priced and generously portioned. Delivery a bit slow (ordered food at 17.30 and received at 19.00) but, to be fair, it was a Friday night so mostly understandable. Will try other dishes next time to explore the gigantic menu.

The three of us went on Sunday, and chose the £10.95 Sunday Special menu: any starter; any main; any rice or nan; ice cream or tea/coffee. In addition we ordered a bottle of their Merlot [[£14.95] and three poppadoms.

I’ve been a few times. The food is very good indeed. They clearly invest in good chefs. The service is polite and unintrusive. Decent prices for good food in a pleasant atmosphere. I really recommend it.

Arrived late visiting a friend locally and too late to cook, so decided to see what restaurants were open in Town. Really pleased with the service, and the Waiter went out of his way to make sure with the kitchen that my order was vegan. My carnivore friend and I enjoyed our meals, good food and wine indeed.

I ate there today (Lunchtime on Sunday), the quality of the food was outstanding. At no point did I feel rushed as a single diner (a rare pleasure) and the staff were attentive. I have visited this restaurant many times since moving to Wallingford and always left impressed.

Lovely food, menu very well marked with allergy and ingredient advice so was really easy to order food. Super tasty and filling, lots of choice and open late. Would recommend, have been several times and always good.

We went here with our son for a curry. It's our favourite place for a curry in Wallingford - they have a good range of dishes to suit the whole family. The food and service are reliably good so we keep coming back. Thoroughly recommended!

Apart from the peshwari naan which would've been too sweet even if it had been a dessert, every dish we ordered was tasty and delicious. Portion sizes are good and prices reasonable. The restaurant was busy and had a lively atmosphere. Service could be tweaked - not used to a waiter asking us to help him or being leant across, and some food was dropped onto my partner's jumper without apology. We raised our eyebrows a few times at the beginning of the meal but found it quite amusing by the end - may have felt differently if we were out on more than a family meal. Despite the service, the food was really good that we will return.

Attentive friendly staff. Lively atmosphere. Wide selection of dishes and good portion size. It was my cousins birthday and they helped make it a special evening.

The staff were friendly and the food was lovely and not to oily. They even adapted a dish to my personal taste from the menu. Very good indian.

The food is delicious and better than any other Indian we've tried, the staff super friendly, the atmosphere very lovely, the service impeccable, the menu offers huge choice. This restaurant is outstanding in every way. You can also order online via their website, very easily and quickly, and they put into the bags more than you ordered. I just love this place so much, it's our favourite now.

We visited on the 27th october with friends as they had been before. It was our first visit, we were really impressed with the food, service and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.

Whenever my father (born and raised in Kolkata, so he knows his Indian food) visits, he insists we go for Indian so we’ve tried every Indian place in town and he agrees that this is the best. Every dish they do is amazing. The staff are all super nice and helpful. Great for both take away and a really nice seating area to eat in. If you’re looking for great Indian food in Wallingford, this is it!

Decided on the cuff to try this place and so glad we did. Although hadn't booked, they able to give us a table, it as quite early, luckily we did get there early as this place is very popular and I can see why. Very good choice of food. All cooked to order, delivered on a trolley. All piping hot and very good portions. Best curry we've had in a long time. Really good buzz and very busy. They do take-away too.

I've had takeaways delivered from all the Indian Restaurants in Wallingford and can safely say Delhi Brasserie is the best all round. The service is great, often arrived early and is always piping hot. The food is fantastic- the chicken tikka masala is rich and creamy with perfectly cooked chicken, the rice and naan are tasty and cooked to perfection and all the side dishes I've tried have been very good.

08.07.18. Had a delivery for a friend and myself. I had the prawn puri starter as a main meal, delicious. However, my friend had a chicken dish with pilau rice. The rice was fine, but the sauce smelt 'off', I tasted the sauce and it was horrible. My friend didn't eat it. Luckily, I had a ton of spicy chickpeas which he had with the rice. We would have taken it back but didn't drive due to sharing a bottle of wine. Possibly the fridge isn't staying cold enough with the hot weather!

We always come back to Delhi brassiere, whether we eat in the restaurant or order a takeaway. Food is always delicious and generous portions.

I was out in Wallingford trying to find something good to eat, thought I hadn't tried this Indian - in fact I had never noticed it before. I went in and ordered for me and my dad, the first thing that alarmed me was the price, double what I pay in Didcot or Oxford. Near £30

The food here is lovely. I'm quite particular about Indian food and have to say their menu is 2nd to none. I especially love their dansak dishes ! Well worth a visit and they have great deals on mid week so you can't go wrong

Visit here whenever we are in Wallingford on our boat. Consistently good food, and bigger than average potions, especially the breads. Only criticism was on our visit last week, the Kingfisher seemed a bit off and possibly not draught.

Food from the extensive menu was tasty and appropriately spiced. Portions were generous too, and the final bill was entirely reasonable.

I called here last night (23.04.18) on the off chance for a table for myself. I received a warm welcome and was shown a table.

Ate here whilst overnighting locally due to good reviews. Wasn’t disappointed the staff were great and the food was really lovely. One if the nicest curries I’ve had in a while. Will definately be returning when next in the area.

I picked up a takeaway a few days ago. I had the prawn puri, which was delicious. My friend had chick madras with pilau rice - which he couldn't eat much of it. The chicken was very dry, the sauce was thick and grainy and the rice was either under cooked or dried out. It was too late to return it.

After an excellent visit here a few months ago... it was time to call again and taste some more Indian delights.

Friends chose this restaurant because they thought it was good from a previous visit. We arrived at 7pm as booked. Place was full and buzzing. We got drinks, menus and popadoms within 15 mins and then our order was taken at 7 30. There was very little food served in the next hour and ours came at 8-45.

Lots of meat in curry , only downside was butter chicken nothing like I would normally have it . But the Ceylon is great

Excellent service, excellent food! I always worry when going to another restaurant as always think that it’s going to be second best to the best one I have ever been to which is 20 miles away from our home, but this has equalled that restaurant and is only 8 miles away! We ordered too much so they very kindly put the rest in take away trays for us to bring home, so I had the rest for breakfast this morning! Oh it was my birthday on the night so even better! Thank you to the staff for a wonderful meal!! 10/10
