Deane's at Queens in Belfast

It was lovely coming here. The atmosphere is lovely, food was delicious and the service was very prompt.

A wedding present of a voucher sitting on our kitchen shelf for many months and originally we wanted to try another of the Deane restaurants which closed so we rebooked to here for our Night out.. Staff very friendly and couldn’t really fault them . Snacks of Korean chicken bites and Squid were fantastic but the 3 starters we ordered were awful . The Risotto must of been made by a teenager as I originally thought when it arrived someone had ordered porridge …. All lumped together and way over cooked . The crab was….. well more so the biscuit (American style) you get with it …. You can’t lift it as it crumbles , a knife makes it fall apart to just crumbs… a but pointless I thought . The 3rd starter was a blue cheese and pear salad….. now, I hate blue cheese and wouldn’t be fussed on a poached pear hence we ordered the goats cheese salad but alas they wrote it down wrong and delivered something we didn’t want …. I have to say I don’t mind complaining when things go wrong but I would have been there an extra 30 minutes telling them all their food faults so we paid and left without ordering mains … Mr Deane , I can see why your restaurants are closing one by one as for as long as the moon is in the sky I won’t be back near anything in your name.

I really enjoy Deanes Meat Locker and fancied a change. The service was friendly and the food was excellent. We both had roast beef, and it was cooked to perfection. The dessert again was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

My Husband and I dined in Deane’s at Queens this evening and it was our first visit in a long time. We had a wonderful dining experience, we were greeted warmly on arrival by the Manager and shown to our table by Conall who was also very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our server was Sandeep who was excellent, along with a lovely blonde lady. My Husband thoroughly enjoyed his sea bass and my steak was tasty (the chips were crispy and delicious) It was a really lovely ambience, dim lighting with candles on the tables and and excellent music selection. We will definitely return and thank you to the fantastic team who looked after us so well!

Really good food. Good kids menu. Cocktails are well made. Every member of staff super friendly even chef passed by table asking was everything okay. Great choice especially close to museum.

I believe worst food, service and atmosphere in the last few years of visiting Belfast . I have been to a more warm CANTEENS than the atmosphere in Deanes restaurant. Absolutely horrible huge tables that are maybe ok for wedding venues but as far as tables in restaurants go this was a nightmare to try not to make the squicky sound of you trying move the table so you could visit the toilets . Food was beyond, plain and bland . I will never recommend this place to anyone . There is so many other places in Belfast that you could spend your money . Avoid.

We celebrated our daughter's Christening at Deanes last Sunday with 23 guests including several children. Everything was perfect - the seating, service, and food was all 5*. Sandeep was a standout and made sure everyone had the correct order and our glasses were always full. We brought a cake and it appeared on its own table with serving knife and side plates which was much appreciated. Sandeep also helped us serve it along with tea and coffee after dessert. All of our guests enjoyed their meal from start to finish; I can't recommend Deanes highly enough!

Food is OK, service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice. The markup on drinks is exhorbitant. Unlikely to visit again, as there are plenty of other restaurant choices that have better food for similar money and that have way less expensive drinks. Watch the bill too, it already includes a service charge, which I hadn't noticed until I had already paid, tipped and left the restaurant. The staff at this restaurant are very professional, courteous and efficient and are a credit to the establishment.

One of the best meals we had in Belfast! The drinks are excellent too. They were kind enough to squeeze us in without a reservation but you should really get one!

Had dinner here as a work event. Food was very good, just a bit slow service. Staff were pleasant. I have eaten here before and it always good.

Front of house made me feel extremely unwelcome. My wife and I were really looking forward to a treat. We didnt get it. Not a word spoken by front of house. We were I. And out in half an hour. What an awful experience, considering this is apparently Michelin starred. Atmosphere zero, customer service zero, food was average. Roast beef dinner I could have made myself. When I go out, I expect good customer service, decent food and to walk away having enjoyed the experience. This was none of these. I’ll never be back. Awful experience.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression as the saying goes and my first impression was awful. My wife and I arrived, informed the girl with shoulder length bob of our booking for 7pm, apologising for being 10 minutes early. She rolled her eyes, no welcome, not a word said, grabbed menus and walked to a table.. I’ve honestly never experienced such an unwelcome experience in my life, which jars with me even more when I see some Michelin awards on the wall. It’s most certainly not for hospitality. We were in and out in half an hour. No joke. What an awful experience. Food was just OK. The fact we stopped at McDonalds on our way back to the Titanic Hotel says all you need to know. My wife and I have low expectations. We were just glad to get out for the night. We were really looking forward to what we thought would be a real treat. This was our first (and last) time at Deanes. I’ve often seen Michael Deane on local television talking about the importance of supporting local business. The fact that he was only a few tables away with his family and even that doesn’t inspire his staff to provide excellent service is beyond me. My wife is still angry at the way we were treated. We won’t be back.

Perfect food quality and quantity. Food was tasty and quite affordable too. They can change the menu or make any change as you need. Polite service as you would expect from any place. And they are friendly too

Deanes at Queens. I showed up as it reopened for dinner. Greeted and seated immediately. It’s a very large space. I ordered the Scallops and a salmon salad Scallops: 4 small pieces grilled nicely with greens and bacon (seemed more like bacon than pancetta) Salmon salad: clearly misunderstood. It was more of open face sandwich with some greens candy fries. Good nonetheless.

Big open restaurant with lots of tables. They offered a very interesting selection of dishes, the majority well prepared and tasty. Not amazing, but very good quality!

I regularly dine at this restaurant. I love the location, ambience and staff. The food is always nicely presented and full of flavour. It is one of the best restaurants in Belfast though this visit was more expensive that I would have previously paid. I appreciate it is impact of the cost of living rises but the bottles of wine are cost prohibitive and the steak feels expensive at £37. I will return but I might have to order less.

We love Deanes at Queens for Sunday dinner and today didn’t disappoint. I had salt chilli squid starter - gorgeous- he had the mushroom soup- such a depth of flavour, amazing! We both had roast beef served pink which was beautiful with all the roast dinner additions- roasties, Yorkshire puddings, carrot and parsnip mash and buttered cabbage. No room for dessert! Yes - the venue is showing its age and deserves a refurb. The restrooms were not as clean as usual. We were sited st the window and the outside area was full of cigarette butts- it really needs a deep clean. I really hope that after the closure of deane and Decano on the Lisburn road that this branch is not grinding to a close too? Love the food - service is perfect- please keep it going!,

Deane's Fish is my "go to" when in Belfast. It never misses. The risotto with seared scallops is like heaven. This time I also ordered the crab toast, just lovely with a slight zing of lemon to prevent it from too rich. The drinks are always spot on. Truly, pop in for a memorable meal.

This was the worst service I have encountered. This was not due to the serving staff who were uniformly friendly and helpful. It was only when I went to pay that the trouble started. My gift voucher was not accepted and I was forced to pay the bill without it. One of my chief reasons to vist Deanes was to use the gift voucher. I was told by the manager that there was nothing he could do because there was a glitch in the system. Surely the minimum that good customer service demanded was that the manager could override the system and sort the problem later. To compound the problem, when I tried to contact the number (at 11:15 on Monday) that the manager gave me I received a voicemail asking me to call back during working hours (9:00am to 5:00pm)

Usual staff very professional.. However keeping 1pm diners outside until the 1pm on the dot not really very professional in my view rather than using the foyer area as waiting zone A very inexperienced waitress who didn't appear to be remotely interested in her customers..Bordered on non chalant in manner perhaps No Sprite! Only two small lemonades left. Couldn't facilitate a large plate being made as a small plate . Totally misinterpreted( by waitress) what was being asked. No problem though making a small plate into a large plate! Pannacotta drenched in sauce and inedible. Could not do 1/2 shot Cappuccino! I advised waitress it was never a problem before as I am a regular diner. She didn't respond. How disappointing as a regular customer. Suggest training for the young waitress a priority as really just not up to the MD standard . I advised her for transparency that I would be reviewing but she appeared non plused instead of inviting me to chat to a senior person privately to close it down professionally as it should have been.

Food was very good, staff very friendly and attentive. Just don't like it when a service charge is automatically added to your bill. Stayed on for an extra drink after paying the bill and a service charge was even added to that.

I had a crab starter with Gazpacho ,the crab was lost in a potato croquette needed brown meat ,gazpacho had a strange herbal backnote,haddock and chips was great

Delicious food and great service. However the atmosphere was not very welcoming, it has a bit of a canteen feeling. Also the bench I sat on had quite a lot of holes and looked worn out. You wouldn't expect that from a restaurant with a Bib Gorumand

Tombé au hasard sur ce restaurant. Le cadre est moderne, épuré, contemporain, charmant. L’accueil est très agréable. En apéritif, nous avons pris des cocktails originaux et délicieux. J’ai ensuite opté pour l’agneau. Une réussite totale. La cuisson rosée juste parfaite, une viande à couper s la petite cuillère! Nous étions quatre , et chacun est reparti conquis Merci à l’équipe pour ce très bon moment.

A great place, great food and a great evening.

Really disappointed. Restaurant itself was really tired and felt like a school canteen with no atmosphere. Toilets needed cleaned as well. The food was just ok, nothing special and the menu actually quite limited and not my previous experience of Dean’s. One of our party had a large piece of plastic in his dessert. Staff did apologise and replaced the dessert but not great. We will not be a rush to return which is a pity.

A difficult one. Great food and service and a generally nice atmosphere. But genuinely shocked at how tired the place has become. Many of the fixtures and fittings well past their best. As per pics. But again, I reiterate great food and great service, but I would no longer bring someone if I was trying to impress.

Linen tableware, sparkling cutlery and glasses, refreshing water with bubbles, highly professional waiting staff, we both had the beetroot and goats cheese salad starter which was out of this world for flavour, followed by roasted cod with creamy champ, green beans and a red wine jus for me, and chicken supreme on mushroom risotto for my colleague, both of which were excellent, we agreed that the whole experience was the best lunch each of us had enjoyed in a very long time, we declined dessert and coffee, but 3 courses of this quality for £49 is great value So if you want a special lunch in the Queens area of Belfast look no further than Deanes

Lovely meal but was not informed of the 10% Service charge. Would make me doubtful about returning. There are a lot of good restaurants in Belfast who do not have this policy.

Without doubt Dean's at Queens delivers every time, delicious food at a reasonable price.Traveled up from Ballymena for Sunday lunch well worth the journey.

I had steak and chips. The chips weren't hand cut. The steak was fine but not particularly generous. The price was what you would expect from a fine dining experience but I didn't find anything about the experience actually met that criterion- it was all just ok

Considering the prices everything was very average. Keep an eye on the wine they are very quick to top up glasses and replace empty bottles. You'll drink alot more than you plan to and pay dearly for it. Seats uncomfortable.

Had a family lunch today and food was lovely however was left very surprised when ordering desserts and coffees that the restaurant did not serve a Dairy Alternative for milk in my coffee !! Really for a restaurant of this quality, disappointed

Slow service. We were there for lunch and it took hours. Tiny portions - I left hungry! Cheeseboard wasn’t fresh. Much too expensive for what you get.

Wasn't sure what to expect but very pleasantly surprised. Salt and Chilli squid was excellent. Whole seabass, excellent. Lamb, excellent but under seasoned (appreciably that is a matter of taste). Steamed toffee pudding excellent. Service attentive, pleasant and warm. 4 stars instead of 5 as the sauces served were a bit claggy and overly rich, while the chips lacked the lighness I've previously experienced in MD. Dont let that put you off though! Small details.

We paid £35 for a tiny sirloin steak which was full of fat, but discussed by the copious amounts of sauce that they covered it in.

Dreadful experience We are a big fan of Deans Love Fish - so had high expectations for Deans at Queens. What a disappointment. Arrived early to get a drink at the bar before going to the table. From the moment we walked in it felt like we were "fighting" with the restaurant. Two waiters pushed past us as we entered rather than welcoming us in, we were pointed at two seats in front of the bar rather than being shown to the seats, we had coats piled up around us, sat waiting, had to ask for a drink, had to ask again for a drink, had to ask for someone to check up on the drinks. Two uninspiring cocktails arrived after 15mins. We took a sip and just as we did another waiter came over to tell us the table was ready. Allowing us a moment to swallow, we were taken to our table - with us carrying our drinks, bags and coats. We were advised to leave the coats and they would be dealt with. Sat and browsed the menu. Menu looked good. Ordered another cocktail along with food and wine. Wine arrived straight away, then some time later cocktails and starters both arrived at same time. Not what we had in mind I asked that we be allowed some time to enjoy the drinks and that the starters were taken away. Waiter started to argue but in the end took them away. All went (further) downhill from there. Mains arrived. Brill overcooked, Rigatoni vile. Spoke to the manager at the end and asked that 10% service was removed from the £135 bill. He asked if I would explain why - but didn't let me explain - he jumped in after the first comment and told me that I was wrong and that they were busy. At which point I couldn't get out fast enough If you want average food and average service for a high price - sure - come and enjoy. If you want great food and a memorable evening, go to Deans Love Fish (or James St)

This is probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life. I had the calves liver medium rare. I can’t stop talking about it!

Feeling ripped off, £35 for the smallest steak I've ever seen. Thought it was a joke. I know things are tight but this is taking the P Wife's sea bass was more like a sardine. All bones, no meat. Deanes at Queens is a fantastic wedding venue in Belfast city, offering a range of beautiful options for both intimate and larger weddings. The team at Deanes is professional and attentive, ensuring every wedding runs smoothly. We've photographed about half a dozen wedding receptions here over the years and we are always impressed! Our couples typically have their wedding ceremony in the Belfast Room of the Ulster Museum or at Belfast City Hall. We'd highly recommend Deanes at Queens!

I wouldn't usually write a negative review, but I was so underwhelmed. I came to Deane's at Queen's with a group of friends, which included a vegetarian (myself) and a vegan. The vegan and vegetarian options were terrible, everyone else was getting burgers, steaks etc....

The place has Michelin award for their high quality meals for affordable prices. The foods was excellent, service was fast and flawless. All in all the experience was wonderful.

Food was tasty but portions were meagre. Starter was the thinnest slice of pate imaginable with two slices of toast and a small spoon of chutney. Very poorly presented. Steak main was nice. Again worst presentation ever. One tiny mushroom and a spoonful of pepper...

Really disappointed with the overall experience. The service was rushed and chaotic. Ushered to table and menus almost thrown at us. Took 10 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. The restaurant didn't even seem near capacity yet it seemed everyone was running around. Decor was really poor.....was no atmosphere. Music was awful. The food was very average too.....my wife felt I'll after eating the chicken. Nobody asked how our meal was. A half hearted goodnight from a server as was leaving. Wouldn't go back if was paid.
