Davy's Fish Bar in Aberdeen City

Not sure what's happened but it used to be the best chipper in Aberdeen. Went in tonight and it was terrible. Chips were burned and rock hard but almost cold and the portion size has literally halved. Steak pie was again rock hard and burned. Looked like all new staff so not sure if the place has a new owner but I won't be back. such a shame as I have gone to Davy's for probably 30 years now. £6.50 for a basic supper is terrible.

Ordered from here a few years ago and it was AWFUL. Tonight I gave it another crack, and much much much better. Really nice fish supper. Will certainly be back. Staff lovely too.

Quick effient service n food was fab

Good fish and chips place near Bucksburn. Easy access from main road. Owner is a friend and can easily vouch for his sense of quality. Tried a few items from them and all great. Recommended place.

Seems to be new owners , fry cook needs to sort himself out on orders, keeps forgetting and can be long waits, the ladies are great!

Always remembered this being an excellent chip shop, havent been for some time so went tonight and i will not be returning again ordered a chicken fillet supper only got chicken fillets witch were soaking with grease, didnt taste good either, the atmosphere inside was like someone had just died. Definitely not going to return to the greasy miserable dump again.

Such a shame used to be really good. Portions are tiny now and the prices have gone up. Chips are not great either. We won’t be back

Must be new owners 😡😡 very disorganized and dis functional place now. 35 minute wait for the smallest portions in town. Which cost £38 for 4 suppers. delivery drivers and another 7 customers within the shop waiting . Told the owner I won’t be back. Another 3 customers also told him they won’t be back. What a fecking experience

Everything is hot cooked and fresh

Fish very disappointing, small dry and overcooked it had obviously been hanging around for a long time. Other things done ok.

Poor doesn't cover it, redeeming feature was the fish batter being removable. Chips anaemic and under cooked. Disappointed doesn't cover it. The curry sauce was ok but no. Disappointed. Binned and cooked dinner instead of enjoying the purchase: fish & chips, curry sauce & chips and sausage & chips.

Very nice fish and chips. Lovely light batter and tasty fish not at all oily. The chips were flavoursome. Rapid, friendly service. I'll be back👍

I thought this was a pretty par-for-the-course chippie, nothing exceptional, but I'd happily go back. My haddock supper had crispy freshly-cooked batter, the fish was OK - but nothing exceptional, a thicker cut of fish would have worked better. The chips were much as you'd expect. Portion was OK, value for money I'd say so-so, no complaints but no plaudits.

Poor service chips are a hit or a miss if they are cooked but guess that's personal choice but there fish are tiny and over cooked

Love Davy's fish bar ..... the chippies near me have gone down hill over the year so i travel to davy's wrap everything in tin foil to take home ...... always been the best chippie to go to .

Was absolutely top drawer. Could have order one of everything it all looked so good. Haddock supper was supreme.

Macaroni pie and chips were lovely also my daughter had the battered sausage, it was delicious the crispy batter was fabulous.

I have periodically popped into Davy's in the past couple of decades but it has never been a regular treat as it doesn't really tick that box. What it does do is give you consistency of adequacy. It truly has never disappointed, at least myself anyway.

Good deep fried food. Plenty of convenient parking.

The price of their fish and chips has gone up to 9.30 unbelievable Hasses in Holborn st are far superior in every way they cook hand made chips beautiful fish good size and they are 7.30 would not go there again not value for money what family of 4 can pay that for their average fish and chips. Very over rated even Sole and sea in Dyce are better and much cheaper not how you retain customers. That's how business loses customers.

Absolute gash service staff were total fannys and the chips were soggy af asked for cheese and was charged for cheese only to nae get cheese wouldnae recommend. Shambles. Telephone service was shocken. Pregnant friend is greetin thanks.

Terrible really went downhill over cooked products

I used to go to another fish shop that's part of a bigger chain until I found Davy's which is better in every way. The staff are so friendly and a joy to be served by. The fish is perfectly cooked every time and the chips are great.

Ordered a munchie box, sausage supper and a kids meal tasted amazing! Service was great too phoned ahead for my order so it was ready when I arrived Will definitely be back!!

Food was greasy and tasted as if it had been sitting out for some time - overdone. Staff are also rude and unwelcoming, do not recommend.

Excellent chips and batter was crisp

Went to Davy's Fish Bar for a evening meal. We were a bit surprised that there was no menu up on the menu display and we were not made to feel welcome by the staff. Ordered fish suppers and were given pre-cooked fish that were kept under the hot lamp. Surprised that they did not cook the fish to order. Meal was fine, no lemon slice provided.

Only had bed and breakfast at hotel so really enjoyed our fish and chips. Granddaughter had smoked sausage which she ate up and enjoyed and she is a fussy eater. Certainly would return if up in Aberdeen and staying close by.

Absoustley love this chip shop the munchies boxes are amazing and fantastic value for money a great way to share. And the staff are fantastic as well top class chip shop 5 stars all the way 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Have been here a few times and food is normally good but the last couple of times the chips were not very good and the pies on both occasions were very dry, a bit disappointing.

I decided to stop at Davey's for something quick to eat... a decision that I soon regretted. When I entered there was about five customers waiting, not a lot for the four members of staff behind the counter. My order was taken as soon as I got in (chicken fillet supper and a sausage supper), which I was told would be a few minutes, no problem. Chaos soon started to unfold in the queue in front me, customers getting the wrong orders, items missing etc. Ten minutes had now passed, and only one customer had been served. I was then summoned to the till to pay.... I was past the point of no return. Fifteen minutes had now past, there had been confusion between the staff over how many portions of chicken fillets were required... another few minutes we were told. Twenty minutes now past.... there’s still customers there that had been in before me, but the fillets were now ready so the visible hanger would soon be cured.... or not. One of the incompitent staff had given away the chicken fillets to someone in the queue behind me. Another five minute wait I’m told.... it was at this point I asked for my money back but was told I could have the chicken fillets complimentary... OK one last chance! A sub total of thirty minutes was spent in Davey's tonight, for food which was at very best... average!

Staff aren’t friendly towards any of the customers and the food they serve is always been sitting and never fresh to order wouldn’t go back again

Food terrible siting to long on display

Says it closes at 10.30pm on Friday but they won't serve you chips at 10.25pm. Not happy. Shouldn't advertise 10.30 close.

Place your order along with the chips and it cooked from fresh. Ask for lightly battered fish to avoid too much oil. Don't be put off by the negative reviews. Parking available nearby.

Fish was massive and first class and do were the chips ,very reasonable and would certainly stop again for more ,friendly staff and plenty parking right on the through fare towards airport

Best chippys in Dyce, chips are old school, fresh tasty very good size portions good menu, friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Best chicken fillets and chips I've ever had! And I'm not usually a fan of chips.

Had a few great suppers from there recently, staff always friendly but one issue I have which is when I tried to pay with card, they told me they only take cash payments, no card of any sort but there is nothing on the window or anywhere which states this so that wouldn't be any use for anyone who has no cash on them and assumes they can use a debit/credit card

Best fish & chips I have had in Aberdeen. They do a mean spicy haggis as well.

Decent fish and chips. Solid portions

It's not in the top five,but it is doing pie suppers for £3.50 which is very good value, don't know for how long the offer is on.

Everything was fresh. Cooked to perfection . And most of all tasted good.

Consistently great chip shop for 40 years.

Awful. Food sat in ranger all day. Chips cold. Staff rude, managment clearly terrible, I see the same people on every day. Overpriced, never any ribs, pies dry, I've seen em re heat frozen cooked chicken, also asked for curry sauce it was cold and thick. Everything is frozen. I cone in before they close and the food they chuck away is so much. I used to like davys years ago but now I completely avoid it and I drive to Mike's fish bar.

Normally go to Mike's which is normally decent , fish suppers. Thought we'd try here. Absolutely rancid, inedible rubbish. Batter simply not cooked, gluey gunge and wet fish, completely inedible. Will never go back. Will stick to Mike's in future,

Went in 10.05 pm told stopped cooking at 10pm closing time 10.3pm Hopefully they will have competition soon.
