Danano's Pizzeria in Derry

Excellent meal, tasty pizzas and pasta. The restaurant was really busy and the staff and service were excellent. Front of house staff really under pressure but their customer service was definitely 10 out of 10. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Honestly don't understand how this place has a 4 star rating.. ordered a creamy mushroom pasta which arrived with no mushrooms? Pasta n' sauce packets made at home would of had more flavour. Ordered a side of chips, they were sat up on the counter for around 5 minutes before the waitress realised they were there, they came down rock hard it was like biting into a stone, I nearly broke a tooth. Awful food, and I'm not one to complain I love a good meal out, but this is the worst restaurant I've ever been in. Waste of 40 pound!

Food was ok - whole prawns missing from advertised paella Al mare ( risotto Al mare surely? ) not a huge problem but £4.50 for a very small portion of chips- less than half a bag at most - and £5 corkage made a modest meal expensive. Server was good but described fettuccine as thick spaghetti- if it is an Italian restaurant he should know. Very disappointing and will be in no hurry back.

Me and my boyfriend come here very often, it's the best Italian in the town. Food is delicious and very friendly staff. Recommend coming here and giving it a try folks you won't regret it

Awful dinning experience . Paulino waitress is rude .. didn’t offer special offer .. had to ask .. no spaghetti bolognaise in an Italian ! Over priced bland food . Will never return

Ordered the pick a mix deal off just eat, got two pastas a chocked fudge cake and 2 cans for £19.39 the two pastas came as kids meals i got a linguine and it had exactly 4 bits of pasta in the dish, i waited over an hour spent nearly £20 and minimum order was £15. I am not happy. I use to love this restaurant and went in all the time as a child i am not impressed!

Haven't been to Dananos in a while. Decided to go tonight and grab a pizza. We have always had a pleasant meal in this restaurant. The menu has changed and it has adopted a tapas style, with smaller pizzas but absolutely delicious side orders to try as well. We enjoyed the ravioli, bruschetta, houmous, and halomi fritters, can't recommend the menu enough and we will certainly be back soon.

Relaxed Italian tapas-style restaurant near several hotels. The staff was attentive and friendly, the food was tasty and the portions generous. Good value.

My mum and I found this place by chance at 21:30 this evening, because a lot of other places were closed. And, how lucky we were. It was absolutely amazing. For dinner for two, with wine, we paid 40 pounds, but it was the best Italian we have had for years. The service was fantastic, the flaming oven impressive, and the food was out of this world. We were very lucky to stumble across this place by chance. Thoroughly recommend.

Staff bickered amongst themselves, table hadn’t been cleaned, cutlery was dirty, food was cold, service was awful.

I ordered the linguine di mare and when it arrived it looked not too bad with a few mussels in the shell, 2 prawns and 2 strips of squid ( I think that's what it was supposed to be, not sure though) no sign of scallops as it said on the menu. My nightmare started when I ate the first mussel!!!! it really tasted awful, so I tried a bit of the linguine with the tomato sauce to get rid of the bad taste, that was even worse, the sauce was too hot (which is not mentioned in the menu) and it had a disgusting, really old rancid "has passed its sell by date a few weeks ago" taste. I then decided to try another mussel just to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I regretted that all night.....stomach cramps all night and still feeling sick 24 hrs later!!! Horrible dish all together, I mentioned it to the waitress but she never came back with any comments from the chef. A lady in our party who had ordered a different pasta dish also told me later that the tomato sauce was awful and she didn't eat hers either. I ended up eating a bit of salad (it was supposed to be caesar salad which consisted of shredded lettuce) that somebody had ordered and they didn't eat either as it was bland, with a tiny bit of dressing on top (I think it was mayonnaise, not sure though) served in a small baking dish!!! I could go on about the bad experience but I'm not going to waste any more time talking about this awful place (I wouldn't call it 'restaurant') but overall I would rate it 0.00, don't ever go!!!

Normally order 2 10inch pizzas on a Monday night as it’s buy 1 get 1 free on pizza collections. Someone collected the order for me and should have paid £7.90. But the order was charged at £11.95. When I rang to query this the answer was “we were told if you don’t ask for buy 1 get 1 free you don’t get it”. What kind of advertising is that? Absolutely disgraceful.

On my recent visit to the City i grew up in, i had to have a good old pizza that's made from a local company, most companies now days try to charge the same as the high end franchised pizza takeaways where their pizza hasn't got the same bases or similarities no matter when in their world you buy them, sometimes you just need a good independant made pizza to relise what your missing.I really fancied a good old Volcano Pizza + A pomadora garlic bread pizza, i ordered online and choose collection time, within a few minutes i was given a phone call and advised that they had run out of the garlic bread pizza sauce and would i like a standard garlic bread pizza with jalopeanos and chilli oil to replace or they could refund i quite happily accepted this.Upon arrival at the restaurant i relised this place was huge alot bigger than i last remembered, the pizzas are cooked in a traditional clay oven and they had alot of dinners sitting in, i was 5 minutes early and as i came in my pizza was quite literally just finished cooking so i enjoyed a great hot pizza when i took it home. overall it cost me less than £12 for a 10inch Pizza + 8 Inch Garlic Bread, the pizzas had great texture not burnt or over cooked, there was just enough of everything.

Ordered a collection online at 8.15pm. 2 calzones and garlic potatoes, nothing major. It said it would be ready for 8.35pm. I was there for that time and waited for my food. 20 mins later I was given my food but before I walked out I checked the order to find missing a calzone. I turned around and said to one of the women at the desk (there was 3 there) and waited another 5 minuted for any of them to even get to me while they sorted other orders. The other calzone I ordered wasn’t even made. I had to lift other food elsewhere because I wasn’t going to wait however much longer again so I came back 10 mins later for it. They apologised and gave me a free bottle of coke. But that is basically an hour I waited for a collection and a free bottle of coke doesn’t really make up for it.To top it off when I was eating a calzone I found a bone in it. Just appalled at it all.

Llegamos por casualidad y cenamos de maravilla, yo tomé la pizza de salchichas y estaba deliciosa y el resto de mis amigos tomaron pasta y calzonne, estaba todo brutal de buen y además como unos de los platos tardó un poco en llegar, nos hicieron una pizza extra como regalo, un detallazo!El trato y el ambiente buenísimos, muy recomendable!

Right after having sat down, the waiter pressed us to order drinks. To the request for sparkling water he replied that they don't have any...

We were a party of 7 on a Monday evening.

The first thing the waiter told us when we wanted to order was, that they neither still nor sparkling water (how could that happen?). So we ordered diet coke but the flasks the waiter brought us were almost a year over expiration date and warm. Next they brought the starters and main courses after about 45 minutes together. The food was okay.

While the outside appearance may not show as much, the food was outstanding. Both of us loved our meal, the chef should be very proud.

Order food at 4.20pm, never came to 5.45, food is a joke freezing cold, staff very cheeky, wouldnt feed this to my dead dog no harm, wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, ruined my start to the new year.

Was here on the 27th, we had a great time, food was nice, but I had ordered a seafood dish which was to have Scallops, Prawns, Squid and Mussels, no Scallops or Squid, there was 3 Prawns and 5 Mussels n the dish, spoke to one of the staff and got an Ohh, that was it, also service very slow, but didn't let it spoil our great night, shouldn't advertise something and then not serve what it says poor very poor.

Party of 5 adults, 5 children. Danonos catered for all tastes. Beautiful pizzas, BYO for adults, ice cream for kids. What's not to love!

In the city center we found quick service, delightful décor, and delicious food. The pasta and pizza servings were generous. We would frequent Danano Ristorante if we lived there!

Lovely food I order out of here regularly. Always nicentre never disappointed highly recommend here.

This is the best pizzeria in city, their food is fantastic and very reasonable. The staff are really lovely and incredibly accommodating. If you're from the city or holidaying this restaurant is worth a visit.

Nos habíamos visto en la ventana como fuimos pasando a la hora del almuerzo y de la vista de las pizzas nos llevó de vuelta por la noche. Nos pareció que la base para nuestro gusto y las coberturas aunque no generoso estaban repartidos justo sobre la cima, así como no había pulgada de borde molesto el seco, así que muchos lugares creo que es aceptable. Acabo de volver de Nápoles nuestro paladar sabían lo que querían, y estaban satisfechos con la pizzas que se sirven. El servicio era excelente y no hay intento de exprimir demasiado muchas mesas. Estaré muy contento de volver.

this is a casual style Italian restaurant .Its good value fotr money.i like it because you can bring your own wine which makes it very affordable.

Rang just two days before Christmas hoping for a table within the half hour and were accommodated graciously. When seated we were informed only the Christmas menu would be offered. Initially this was alarming as our favourite dishes weren't available. In saying that their Christmas menu presentation was very good and well thought out.BYO option always very good and the food arrived. After our initial apprehension, we were instantly put at ease. It was simply fantastic: stuffed vine leaves, beautiful salad and the pizza perfect as ever. Ran out of wine (as per usual) so ordered glass of the house red. Classic Italian Montepulciano and it was beautiful. Staff attentive but not overbearing. We were last table but waitress Caroline and her colleagues were patient and spot on. Even the delivery man waved to me across the restaurant. Friendly and fantastic food and seriously good value.We will be back soon!

Night started off well enough there were 14 of us and we had our table pre booked. As it was our first time there we didn't know about the byob so when we were told, of course a few of us skipped to tesco and got some things. When we returned another waitress informed us of a corkage charge for alcohol; which I guess is normal in those situations but would have been good to know before we got our stuff. We then spent most of the meal without drinking as we were told £5 per person by the second waitress which half way through our mains (an hour and a half later) was clarified to £3 per bottle by a third waitress. Naturally we opened our quarter bottle and got three glasses. All different sizes one was very dirty and another had a huge chip in it, but we were determined to enjoy the night. After the confusion with the drinks I found that they had gotten one of our parties order wrong multiple times. First bringing him a pizza with walnuts when he had specified he was allergic to nuts so another pizza was needed. This time he asked for no chilli flakes ... There were chilli flakes covering it, so yet another pizza was required. By this time the rest of the party was nearly done so he felt he had to get it to take away. Despite the bit of a shambles in service the food was very good no complaints there at all. Finally it came time to pay and leave, about 3 hours after we entered. There were mysterious extra charges on the bill for misc items and for wine that should have been included in one of the deals that was on the festive menu and 3 corkage charges... When we questioned the misc apparently it was the beers ordered by my mates at the other end of the table, which was fair enough but label it properly. The wine was a mistake as apparently they didn't recognise their own house wine. When asked the extra corkages were swiftly removed as well bringing the total down by a fair amount, however I find it appalling that they not only were rude and misleading for most of the night but that the waitress who dealt with the bill was sneering at our group when we were asking about all the extra charges. Which given that a fair amount was taken off only shows to me that the waiting staff (not all as there was a lovely woman with brown curly hair) had no clue as to how to look after customers.

Firstly, the head waitress was very good at her job and it was great that they were able to accommodate 15 of us on short notice, although I can see why they could now. The service was horrifically slow, took half an hour for water to come to the table, the staff weren't very pleasant, and our mains took 90mins to arrive. Also when asked about the wine, our waitress said "we have red white or rosé" and only one type of each which was fine except she couldn't even tell us what the red was! Thankfully it was an acceptable D'abruzzo. My main, the spaghetti and meatballs was disgraceful, even having worked in different restaurants of varying quality over ten years, I have never come across a chef that would have sent a dish out so badly presented. All the sauce was at the bottom under the pasta, and the six tiny meatballs scattered amongst the pasta. Once it was time for dessert, they didn't have most of the things on the menu, and failed to mention how limited a number of things they did have left, when asked told me it had been a busy week, prompting me to ask when the desserts had been made, they said that day, although it seemed blatantly obvious to us that this was not the case, and I highly doubt they were made in house and not bought in frozen. Most of us had to change our dessert order, and one of them was forgotten about. I could go on further about how bad this experience was, however I had great company with me which avoided the night being ruined. None of us will return to this place, and I would recommend staying clear of it.

This is a great wee place to go for either a pizza or pasta dish. Food is really good...at times the staff could be a bit friendlier as they can come across as unfriendly. Food though is great and I would recommend....

Came here for dinner during our stay in Derry last Wednesday night. It was a perfect choice for our last night & so glad we found it. Relatively busy for a Wednesday night but we didn't have to wait on a table and the staff were very attentive. I had the mussels to start - delicious! And my husband had the cheesy garlic bread. Then for our mains I opted for the lasagne - again, delicious.. and my husband had a pizza. 10 out of 10 for service, food & atmosphere and the bill wasn't so bad either. Portions are huge!

We enjoyed our meal. Pizzas were lovely. Very friendly and helpful waitress who had served us both times we were here. Wish I could remember her name as she definitely deserves a mention. Bring your own wine is an added plus. Would definately return next time we are in Derry.

We had dinner twice at Danano during our brief stay in Derry. Their pasta, pizzas and salads are very good indeed. All waiting staff were very friendly and efficient. This unpretentious but comfortable restaurant is the place to go in Derry for a satisfying and tasty meal.

With limited restaurants in downtown Derry, we ate at Danano's twice during our stay. Excellent food each visit! The taste was great and I was amazed at how perfectly the pizzas were cooked in the wood burning oven. A definite recommend!

Food in here was good, nice flavours and we enjoyed the meal, nothing special but ok. Sadly the experience was let down by a long blond haired waitress who was completely disinterested in us and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Another waitress with short blond hair was lovely. Would not return or recommend.

We both had pasta. Mediocre! Didn't come across the dreaded blonde waitress. Our waitress was blonde but was very pleasant and helpful. Nice enough restaurant but food is average at best! Wouldn't be rushing back!

Best pizza in the city and restaurant has a lovely Italian feel to it. Slightly away from the centre but those pizzas were worth the few minutes walk prices are very good for the quality of the food. Ordered take away a few times too and wasn't disappointed. The BBQ chicken pizza is amazing my partner had a pasta which was fab aswell plenty of choice and some authentic Italian cuisine with a nice ambiance

Dropped in with my kids during the Clipper festival for a quick bite and ended up with a memorable dinner experience. After we ordered our food the pizza chef briefly talked with us as we were seated near the counter and my wee lad whispered to me to tell him that it was his birthday. When he heard this he got both kids up standing on seats at the counter and got them to make our pizza's from scratch. Even if the pizza's were terrible, (which they weren't) the smiles on my kids faces made this alone a worthwhile visit.The abundance of toppings on the pizza's ensured the kids were busy making them, and when ready, the pizza's took some eating, where due to the large feed I don't believe we managed to finish them.Great tasting pizza's with generous toppings and a fun time had by all. What else do you need for a casual meal?We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the city!

This place is amazing. Offers more Italian like cuisine such as pizza, pasta, calzones etc but the chicken carbonara is my favourite, best in town. Some great deal offers here also and it is a handy spot if going to the cinema

The food here is absolutely delicious - and not expensive. However the restaurant does not offer a wine list - just the house red or the house white. Regular customers know to bring their own favourite bottle with them and the staff are only too happy to uncork it for you.There is seating available upstairs and at ground level. I particularly like a table by the window where I can see outside - and also inside over the counter where the chef works away at the open pizza oven. Take-away pizzas are a very popular option here and are delivered all over the city.There is a wide choice of Italian dishes available which are very tasty and very reasonably priced - and the international staff are very warm and welcoming.

We love this place pizza always first class great service good all round normally in earlier this went at nine waited a lot longer than usual for mains like over 1/2 hour and when it came on of our orders was let's say not quite what we ordered let's say I think staff who read this wool know it's not rocket !! Science any great place but earlier is better

On a trip to Derry, my family and I found ourselves at Danano's Pizzeria. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were seated and served right away. While waiting for the food, the kids were given colouring pencils and an activity sheet, which they found fun.The food came, and it was delcious. It had a home-cooked feel, but with a fancy restaurant flair. The staff continued to check on us, to see if were okay or needed anything. Our request for extra side plates or having my husband's desert served with his main course did not phase them, which was great.On leaving, we asked for directions to our hotel and the staff went above and beyond to assist. A waitress used her personal phone to show us a map, and then proceeded to write down the directions for us.That is service you just cannot buy. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Derry. It's just a great atmosphere all round. One of my favourites by far and you just never forget great service, great food and great kindness.Thank you Danano's for being a great part of our Derry trip.

Didn't come across the blonde the other reviewers were displeasured by, but I was well served by two other blondes....oh yeah, there was a brunette too. Anyways, jiving aside, four of us dined here over the Easter weekend and were not in any way disappointed. The pizzas were faultless, the white house wine excellent value and went down real easy....the rest of our meals were equally good too....would definitely return here, blondes or no blondes....

Awesome Italian food here. Great atmosphere. Staff are all lovely. Kids were able to make their own pizza too and the chef was really good with them.

We really struggled to decide on a place to eat on our last night in Derry, so we chose Danano's Pizzeria. I am so glad that we did. Service was very quick and efficient, and the food was delicious. A very authentic Italian feel to the place...freshly prepared food made the place even better! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is planning on visiting Derry.

This review is for the takeaway. We ordered 2 pizzas Friday 25th March. The offer of 2 pizzas for £11 was too good to miss. The pizzas were delicious and pipping hot. The takeaway was so busy with delivery orders that it did take nearly 25 minutes for our pizzas to be ready (we drove down ourselves ordered and waited). Next time I will ring ahead and pre - order.

Have eaten here many times for family evening meals. They offer good value for money, with regular special offers e.g. up to 40% off whole bill at quieter times. Service was swift, friendly and polite. The staff were very helpful with dietary questions, suggesting alternatives and taking time to ensure that we were happy. We were left to enjoy our meal in peace and weren't hustled out of the door. Seems to be a firm favourite with local families of all ages. Worth booking at busy times and checking for special deals.

Dropped in here on a Saturday night to grab something to eat before a night out! As usual- the food is lovely and the portions are a decent size! It's also handy that you can BYOB ! The downside (as most people have said) is that the service is shocking! None of the staff are friendly and aside from taking our order there's zero interaction! It look nearly 20 mins to get a bottle opener and even getting the bill was a struggle!

Was in last night for a meal with a friend. We both got starters, mains and dessert. I ordered the Goats Cheese starter - v nice, followed by a lovely pizza which I cannot remember the name of. Waiter was cool and we had a few laughs with him - friendly and helpful -good service!Dessert was ok. We got the chocolate lumpy bumpy thing and the chocolate cube. Neither were finished. They were a bit heavy but were ok! I also got a baileys coffee - it was a tad strong (coffee wise) but we added a bit of icecream and it was fine then.Overall a lovely night. Oh and the frosted/chilled glasses are a nice touch!!

This place good, even better than that because the implied promise is kept.Most restaurants entice us with their food and "ambience" and many fail to deliver. Their real emphasis is in getting you in, getting you out and getting the money. Danano's is different because the money bit is almost incidental. The food and the welcome are given precedence. The service is attentive but without the pretend "Bon ami" . There is a sense of honesty. You have come for good tasty food at a reasonable price, in a pleasant atmosphere..and that is what you get, nothing more....nothing less. To me that is honest, dependable and perfect for those who like a good pizza. StovaX

It's Saturday 7th November and I have just been for a family meal for 6 to Danano's. From start to finish the service was excellent. The waitress was great very helpful and great with the kids the 2 gents making the pizzas were also great with the kids who all got to make their own pizzas at the pizza bar. The 3 adults also had pizzas which were first class. Very reasonably priced and a great place to take the family we will certainly be back.

Asked for no salami in my sandwich and it came back loaded in it, took it out and there was very little filling after that, the mozzarella was cold. No dressing on the side salad, very bland. When the waiter asked me was everything okay I told him no, I think he thought I was joking and he didn't come back to check, he didn't even ask when he gave us the bill!!! Only for the girl who asked was everything okay when i was leaving the place she offered to refund my money but at that stage I was just so unhappy i left.

The new lunch menu at 40 percent off is fantastic value and the pizzas are delicious... It's a bit cold at lunch time though even with the roaring pizza oven!

Cenare in un ristorante italiano all'estero non è quasi mai una buona idea e qui si conferma la regola. Ambiente a metà fra una pizzeria e un pub, servizio poco attento. Pizza appena sufficiente, risotto e pasta preparati con basi pre confezionate.

La pasta la pizza e il vino sono lontane imitazione del vero made in Italia i dolci che abbiamo preso erano preparati congelati (cuore caldo al cioccolato) di tipo industriale per la ristorazione. Infine la tagliata di carne era buona il conto salato

Visited here for our wedding anniversary. The waiter could not have been more friendly or attentive. Food was gorgeous. Big portions, the right amount of wait and decent price. The only negative, we were sat next to the kitchen and I noticed they used the same pizza cutter for meat and vegetarian pizzas! As a vegetarian, I ordered a calzone so it didn't have to be cut. Please fix this :)

Very grateful to staff of dananos as they were able To accommodate our party after 10pm on a Saturday night when we had all but given up hope of finding somewhere to eat out. Food was average and we were just happy to be able to sit and eat after a long day's work. Sambuca was provided from somewhere and one of my friends had a near miss as she near scalded herself as the glasses had literally almost hit boiling point. Thankfully we discovered this before anyone put it to their lips, otherwise we would have had a night in a&e.Overall we are indebted to the staff for feeding us so late on a weekend night though x

We had pizza for dinner at this restaurant. My white pizza with goat cheese and roasted vegetables was excellent. We all loved our food.I recommend this place for a meal.

We are regular visitors to Danano. Love the food and the staff. Recently met others who were regular guests there and said haven't seen you for sometime. They said the place has slipped in cleanliness . I now know what they mean. Put your fingers on the table and feel the stickiness ? You will not rest your elbows there . You will instantly be disgusted and withdraw them . They feel they have not had a proper clean in a lifetime. And there is disgusting stain on a corner that a brush- stroke would disappear in an instant. Please sort these few things before your other regulars disappear.

Family (2 adults & 2 children) visit to this restaurant. We were seated quickly, given menus immediately & given sufficient time to make our choices. Correct food arrived soon after & the pizzas were absolutely delicious. Was also good value for money. Had been to this restaurant a number of years ago and it certainly lived up to our good memories of the place.

Have not eaten here in quite some time and although this review is of a take away the food was really good. We had a pizza which we thoroughly enjoyed it was piping hot very tasty and good value. Imagine the restaurant should be as good.

Usually reliable but on this occasion one of the pizzas came without the chilli. Coffee came with no spoon or sugar, On such occasions restaurants should simply take the coffee off the bill.

We were waiting over 45 minutes for a simple meal- a pizza and a pasta. After being offered an undrinkable glass of wine in compensation, our food arrived. The pasta was really undercooked- still hard, inedible. The staff were nice enough but no explanation was given for our wait. Really disappointed as we have eaten here regularly in the past.

We were only in Derry for 2 nights and ate here twice as we enjoy it so much. Food is great, service is fast, staff are friendly and the chocolate fudge lumpy bumpy dessert is amazing!

There is a few things to start off with. Our waiter was so rude she did not seen approachable or friendly, she was blonde and mid 20s early 30s ( been working there a while apparently) there is a toilet in the middle of the bottom floor which would put everyone off using it and it looks just dirty! Lets now get on to the kitchen, woo what a mess! As a cook for a hotel in Belfast I was shocked to see the disregard for GENERAL Hygiene! The pizza cutters where all sitting on one plate behind the till, lets just keep in mind of vegetarians! Both meat and vegetarian cutters where simply laying on top on one another so little did the customers know that when the ordered a meat free pizza lets say if they were vegetarian or muslim they would end up getting traces of meat on their pizza. The chefs where not wearing the correct clothing I would consider a watch, a normal white shirt and jeans are not good for hygiene!! Our ham starter tasted like it came straight out of a packet and out toasted bread came straight off the floor. The place was so small all tables downstais where full but yet upstaires was empty! We were charged £2 for a jug of water, £4 for a half glass of wine and all together the food was not worth the £56 for two courses and 2 drinks for two people! The kitchen staff looked lost and untrained, as well as the waiters. Shocking I will never go back to there again and neither will my friends and family. I have made a request for this restaurant to be inspected by a EHO.

Ate here recently with a friend. Although the initial service was slow - taken to a table and then left for 15 mins - the food more than made up for it. Ordered garlic bread for starter, and then pizza for main course, and both were excellent.Good price too, so a good meal all in all.

We ate at this restaurant last night and it was the best meal I've had in Ireland. The risotto was moist, flavorful - absolutely delicious with sausage and shrimp. We also had a calzone that was great!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here - there was an offer on where we had a large cheesy garlic bread, 2 main meals and a bottle of wine for £25. We both had pasta and the kids had pizza, resulting in 4 empty plates. Would definitely recommend a trip to Danano's.

Called in on a brief visit to Derry and weren't disappointed. The place was really busy on a Sunday evening but we were seated almost straight away. We had 2 starters, 2 mains and a couple of beers which came to £32. Excellent value. The Rosemary bread starter was very tasty cooked in an Italian style pizza oven. We both had pasta mains and both enjoyed the tomato sauces that they came with. For me the pasta was a touch overlooked, but only slightly. The staff were all really nice and friendly and apologised for us having to wait to have orders taken and the food cooked, but in all honesty we didn't think we had to wait at all. Some people on the table next to us, who were obviously regulars seemed to want to be served immediately and didn't like having to wait a few minutes, for us, this is part of going out to eat any enjoying at least an hour and a half to enjoy a meal.

Authentic, delicious Italian food! Can't recommend the pizza enough it was impeccable! Very very good price too, have both ate in the restaurant and had takeaway! Always top class

Visited here on a quiet night, and found the service to be great, the food delicious and the vibe lovely. Can see how sometimes it may feel a little 'flat' as there was no banter between staff or chatter however we found it fine for a quiet date.Calling was enormous and delicious!!Nice selection of drinks too, will be back :)

I went to danano because someone told me it is the best place to eat a good pizza. Well, the pizza was not so bad. Of course, is far from our Italian standard, but probably is impossible find something better.

We visited on a Thursday night and got a table upstairs. There were four other tables with about 4 people at each. From the beginning service was a problem. It took over ten minutes for a drinks order to be taken. Then we waited a considerable time to order food. We were going to order starters but decided against this in the interminable wait to order food. When waitress eventually took order the food she apologised for the wait and said there was a new till system that day which was delaying service. However looking at reviews seems to be an ongoing gripe with service. The food arrived within 10 mins and was very tasty. Again we decided against pudding and tea as we really didn't want another lengthy wait to place our order. Management really need to address service as I am sure we are not the only party who have reduced our orders due to poor service.

I ordered from this takeaway and got a garlic bread pizza, carbonara pasta and Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fridge brownie ice cream. The garlic bread pizza was ok, the carbonara pasta was very uncooked, the sauce was very greasy and bacon was very fatty. The 'Ben and Jerry' ice cream that was ordered as chocolate fudge brownie came in a tiny white container and had one scoop of vanilla ice cream in it. The delivery man literally just threw the food at me and went as quick as he could. This was my first time trying Dananos and the last.

Food was really good! Menu has a nice selection and the squid starter was perfection. They have good vegetarian options too which was nice. Staff were great, we were seated straight away and taken care of really well. Nice relaxed atmosphere, I will definitely be back!

food pretty descent, starter of stuffed mushrooms not very big but alright. Mains of chicken with pasta was very nice but the amount of chicken in it wasn't great.Wine was good for a house wine.Service again I'm afraid wasn't great, waitress was prompt but uninterested in customers and it felt like she was going through the motions. There was a member of staff in and out with take aways who went out to smoke and I even saw him picking his nose, I never saw him once wash his hands and he was handling food, slicing pizza etc, that worried me.Would go back again but not too soon.Sorry guys.

We visit dananos regularly and have never been disappointed. The food is always lovely, the fish,chicken and steak dishes are very good indeed as well as all the Italian meals. The chefs will make changes to dishes as required. Very nice staff and good atmosphere.

Tonight was my first time with my wife and 8 year old son. Pizzas were fab. Service was really really dreadful. Warm glass of white wine, changed it,it took three waitresses to sort out only to be given another warm wine. Gave up on the wine and asked for a coke, given the filthiest glass. Didn't seem too bothered by it, certainly no apology. Waitresses did not smile. Will not be going back. Shame.

First of all, we were told to go upstairs and sit down (not knowing where to sit). The drinks did not come for 20 minutes after asking for them twice (got the wrong drinks on top of that) . The staff did not know what number any of the tables were as I heard them asking each other where's table number 14 etc.there was clearly no organisation and I kind of felt sorry for them. It seemed as if it was everyone's first day on the job. Although saying that I would like to give credit to the chef for delicious food.
