This is a 'proper' pub in every respect. Only called in for half an hour after a long walk but still very welcoming, honest and down to earth. I had the best pint of Wainwright's I've had in a long time. We had two bowls of chips and a pot of tea and really enjoyed the whole visit. No blaring music, no idiot tell me to "enjoy" and reminiscent of what a good pub should be. Hope to visit again for a bit longer perhaps.

An excellent choice of traditional pub food at an amazing standard. The food was great quality and clearly homemade, not a microwave ready meal like so many other places. The staff gave a warm welcome and were attentive without being intrusive. A really lovely place that I would strongly recommend

We love going to this lovely pub in friendly Glasson Dock. Its tucked away by the docks so look out for it or your missing a treat, it has a great large car park in front. We enjoy a walk round the village with the dogs and end the dog walk in here. In winter a warm glowing fire to settle by, but in summer seating outside as well as inside. That gives it a holiday feeling! Vegan and dog friendly so as a vegan with 3 dog companions its ideal. Such a friendly family run pub. Last Friday of the month is quiz night that is the highlight of the month for us , such a laugh and great food to eat with lovely local friends before the quiz. Well worth a visit for lunch or evenings, like us you may become a regular!!

We had a lovely meal here last week. We spent time in the pub first having a couple of drinks and chatting with other customers who were all friendly. The bar staff and management were welcoming and the pub itself is great. We are both vegan so ordered the home made vegan burger x 2. It was absolutely delicious and served with home made chips and salad. Such a nice change to have a home made burger, that was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Plenty of vegan and veggie options on the menu alongside meat options. Everyone will find something to eat here. We will be back.

Came here for lunch with my elderly parents one of which, my father, has both limited mobility and speech and is in a wheel chair. The car park is very small so needing a fair amount of room to get my father and the wheel chair out of the car I parked ‘where I could’ . I was met with, you can’t park here ! I explained that I would move the car once I had sorted my father ! There was no pleasant exchange or reassurance given to my father from them, which to be honest I would have expected ! Once out we attempted to visit the toilet and as the pub has no disabled access or disabled toilet facilities this was somewhat of a mission !!! A makeshift metal ramp was brought which as my father is only slight with a small wheelchair, just about helped with the first step up but the step into the pub itself was quite significant and certainly challenging coming back out !!!! Once inside we had to negotiate a very narrow corridor to get to the toilet and then further negotiations trying to turn the chair in a very small space from the corridor into the cubicle ! Once at the cubicle There were no rails for my father to hold onto and I , his daughter , was therefore unable to give him any privacy ! The toilet was filthy which I doubted had been cleaned from the day before ! Luckily no one else required the toilet whilst I was commandeering the only male toilets ! The ladies toilets had an unsanitary open plastic bin which had large gaps in its design, on top of the station next to the sink ! This basket was nearly to the top of used tissues, hand towels and toilet paper ! Unhygienic at the best of times but given the Covid climate I would have expected more ! Needless to say we won’t be back !

Travelling by in my surf van, I popped in for a pint and a bite to eat. I ended up staying for the evening. Good hearty pub grub, well kept ale and welcoming proprietors were a good start. What was really great though was the locals' "You're not from round 'ere . . . so we'll make you particularly welcome" attitude; proper Lancashire. After a cozy fireside pint, I couldn't surpress a few giggles at the banter over the RNLI fundraising raffle and then got chatting with the boys at the bar. What could have been a lonely stop-off on a cold, dank December evening turning into an unexpected pleasure. Thank you. I'll hope I'll be back.

We love this pub with its amazing food, and its wonderful friendly hosts Geoff Debbie and Ashley so much so we are going to live in this village!! We were planning to retire to Glasson eventually, but starting to come to this welcoming pub made it the right decision. It is the village hub and makes you feel you are part of something special. Today they hosted a community lunch with a local choir singing. That was so touching and something we are short of these days- community. As vegans we are catered for so well the food is fantastic. All home cooked and is delicious. Those who eat other diets have lots to chose from too so all included. Had a Christmas lunch today and that veggie welllington with onion gravy was top notch. This pub is a MUST go to, its dog friendly so an ideal stop after a walk with its roaring fire. Its a welcome home feeling even for those of us who don't live here- yet!! My wife and I visited this lunch time, whilst in the area. Slightly hidden from the main road, we came across it whilst looking for a local cafe. Glad we missed out on the cafe as this is a little gem. As I was driving, I sampled 1/2 a point of Thwaites Original Bitter - really well kept and a real blast from the past. I had the all day breakfast and was surprised at the consistency. Every single item was tasty - which isn't always the case in breakfast items. Sausages were not the normal cheap version so many pubs serve. These were quality. Even the bread was excellent. My wife had the steak and ale pie - small version - although small must mean something different in this area, as it was substantial. In short, my wife said it was the best pie she had ever tasted. Considering our ages and the number of different pies she has tasted over the years - quite an accolade. Great value for money. The staff were friendly, helpful people. Pay them a visit - you won't regret it.

We visited a few days after they re-opened following extensive refurbishment. The whole pub looks amazing. Completely different to the well worn old version, but still very traditional. I’ve recently ventured into a vegan diet and struggle to find decent choices for eating out, without going to dedicated vegan places. This isn’t always an option as my partner is a meat eater! The Dalton Arms has a fantastic choice for vegans, far exceeding the standard watery vegetable curry so many places seem to think is acceptable. I genuinely was spoilt for choice. I opted for the big vegan breakfast. Really tasty sausages, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns and bread, with vegan spread. It was so tasty, well cooked and presented. Vegan milk available for hot drinks, and a really good choice of alcoholic drinks for vegans too. Good choices for dessert, although we were too full. Partner had a meat lovers breakfast and loved it! I got chatting to the people on the next table. They had tried the vegan Thai curry. She said she wasn’t vegan but fancied it and it was delicious. The staff are extremely welcoming. Ashley came out of the kitchen to discuss my dietary requirements, as I’m quite new to this diet. The place is dog friendly too. We didn’t bring our dog with us but definitely will next time. Overall a great experience and well worth a return visit.

We called in for lunch and were not disappointed it was excellent. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the experience. It was not extremely busy as it was mid week and closed season for holidays. The menu was great and the food was excellent we had the company of the pub dog an extremely friendly Springer spaniel. I would recommend this pub to anyone.

I hired a motorhome for my other half for his birthday and needed a first time stop. Geoff was fab a few weeks before when I chatted to him, he helped us when we got misplaced as the motorhome wouldn’t fit over a small bridge and we arrived and parked up. The welcome in the pub was brilliant, the friendliest owners and customers ever. Plenty of simple pub food and great gin. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise too. Highly recommended .

visited for lunch yesterday. A friendly welcome and helpful staff. Be prepared that everything about the place is 'well used' but for me it added to the charm, it is completely unpretentious. Cosy fire in an old range in the main bar as well as another dining area. Good range of beers. Good variety of dishes on the menu and specials board. It was obvious that meals were home made and cooked to order, very tasty and fresh and hot; worth the wait. The mushroom in blue cheese starter is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted and the Vegetable Fajitas were very tasty. Portion sizes are large. Very good value. I'l definitely be returning

Fantastic experience here at the Dalton Arms. Took the family here for evening meals and was not let down by great food, ambience and music to boot. Great food, prices that won't cripple your wallet.

What a welcome from the lovely landlady! Our group of 16 ladies arrived for a pre-booked meal after completing the Bayway cycle route - 84 miles over three days with more than a few hills!

Booked for a meal as we were wanting to avoid noisy kids and found here hidden down on dock. We were the only people eating as it appeared on the board that food was not served on the day we were there. However the Landlord (and his friendly dog) assured us that as we were booked all was ok. We all chose the steak which was tasty and well seasoned (two were perfect, one could have had a bit more colour) but good quality meat and all the trimmings

My husband and I called in at the Dalton Arms today for lunch. We were warmly greeted by the landlady - I ordered homemade chips, fried eggs and cold ham, and Don opted for a 'smaller portion' of Steak and Ale Pie with chips and peas. Generous portions, piping hot and very tasty - the chips were gorgeous! Will call there again when we're next at Glasson.

We came upon this pub by accident but I am glad we did. It was well past 2pm when we arrived and, on asking if food was still being served, were told it certainly was! My wife had scampi and I had gammon, cooked exactly how I requested. Waistline warning! The helpings were enormous - no portion control nonsense in this pub! The landlady was very friendly and welcoming and told us about the local area - the dog just wanted her tummy stroked! Will happily return

We called on on Thursday evening for a bit to eat. We were made to feel very welcome by the Landlord and his daughter. I had the most succulent, tasty cold ham, two eggs and home made chips. My wife had wholetail scampi, chips, salad and peas. Although we only intended staying for an hour we stayed and took part in the quiz and had a go on the Play Your Cards Right game. A very rare find was a very palatable non alcoholic lager. We’ve visited here a few times and will definitely return.

Room was excellent as always. Did have a ocuple of issues this time. First was the fact that there was a sign at reception, indicating that late checkout was £12.50 during March, and the receptionist wanted to charge me £15. Eventually this was resolved. The second issue was the fact that I placed a order for room service through the phone app, but for some reason this was never received by reception. Not their fault, but perhaps the app needs looking at to solve this issue. Other than these two small things, I enjoyed the stay, and I will point out that after staying on a few occasions, this is the only time there has been any issues.

Booked a table through the pub's website well in advance of our visit but on arrival, we were told that the kitchen had closed. When we explained that we had made a reservation through Open Table - the link to Open Table is front and centre on the pub's website - the senior member of staff informed us that they had not checked for online bookings before sending the kitchen staff home. Their apology was genuine but hardly helpful. We immediately rebooked at the Cross Keys, about 15 min walk away which was still serving food late into the evening.
