Da Vinci's Cafe in East Ayrshire

Visited here on the way to an overnight stay, arrived at 1.05, got order took at 1.15, not bad considering it was busy, tea and coffee came ot at 13.31 and my food finally came atc 13.36. Husband had another 5 minute wait for his soup and toasty combo The food was at best average, I got an omelette and chips, the chips were frozen chips and not the best of quality, the cheese omelette was very bland unless you hit a bit that had an overabundance of cheese, lucky if I ate half of my meal. When any items came out, there was not one word spoken at any if the times the staff delivered the food or beverages, in fact I felt like an inconvenience to them, I wonder if it because we are not local, we will never know I guess.

Lovely and warm when walking in but put to bottom end down some steps as no availability at the front of cafe. It was cold and very unwelcoming sat next to a freezer which was a bit noisy and staff removing items. It didn't help with staff constantly going out bottom door and leaving it open causing a very cold draught. If this area was utilised properly it would be a great enhancement to cafe. Food. Ordered a toasted panini with chicken mayo. What I got was a toasted baguette with diced up chicken which I'm sure is bought frozen in bulk and tasted rubbery. It should have been advertised as toasted baguette with Mayo and chicken. Staff. The staff that served us were pleasant but a lot of people in and around kitchen area that looked as though they shouldn't be there. Outdoor clothing and in and out back door The cafe was busy so maybe we just picked wrong thing to eat and sat in wrong place. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Staff are great and the lunch was excellent quality and value. They even have a dedicated area for diners with dogs and provide water and snacks for pooches. I would recommend this cafe for a visit when passing.

Ordered a buffet for my husband’s birthday for 16 members of the family. Selection was fantastic and everything was delicious especially the millionaires shortbread. Would highly recommend

Food good. Service needs a lot of improvement. 3 of us were in for breakfast arrived about 10.10am on Saturday. Tables full at front but customers had already been served and eating Waitress took us to back section of restaurant which there was no heating or lights on and indicated for us to sit at table that was next to fridges. Waited ages for order to be taken - waitress apologised and said they thought someone else had taken order. We all ordered small breakfasts - waitress advised there was no hashbrowns and asked if we would like an alternative item instead. We were then charged for these items. Tea and coffee were cold by time breakfast came, waitress advised that toast was just coming - breakfast was finished and still no toast, managed to catch attention of a waitress to ask where toast was to which she asked if we wanted white or brown bread - we ended up declining as we had already finished breakfast. Food was tasty, hot, and reasonably priced , however service very disorganised, slow and no one really seemed interested. There were no other customers that came in in the time we were waiting so wasn’t overly busy. Overall food ok but wouldn’t recommend or rush back.

My husband and I decided to have lunch out as we were both at home so we picked here. It was busy as it was in the week at lunch time. Lady said there was space and moved a table from another customers table and gave it to us. That was uncomfortable for us. She wiped the table and gave us menus. We both ordered hunters chicken burgers. The lady proceeded to take our order then walked behind us took out our chicken from the freezer with her bare hands and walked to the kitchen holding our chicken. She brought our drinks over in what looked like 2 kids glasses that were different and full of scratch’s. She held our cutlery by the top too. I think she needs a lot of training to be honest, Lunch was ok for freezer food. I don’t think I’ll return for lunch again but maybe coffee and cake as they looked nice.

Great food, very good value for money, dogs welcome in designated area. The dog even had a doggy ice cream! We will definitely be back often.

Called in for breakfast while my daughter was on a horse trek nearby. Had pancakes, bacon and syrup. It was lovely. Young staff were really nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend

Service superb. Carrot cake best, garlic chicken baguette, and latte. Tried toasty, and pizza too. Great setting near to both Auchinleck and Cumnock.

Absolutely amazing! Our company arranged a buffet from Da Vinci’s Cafe to take with us on a photoshoot for our magazine. The boxes were bursting with an assortment of tasty sandwiches, wraps, cakes and tray bakes. There was something for everyone on the shoot. My personal favourite was their coronation chicken wrap. Delish! Their buffet platters are perfect for any party, event or gathering. The portions we received were amazing, we couldn’t finish it all (we were practically fighting over the leftovers😂) Highly highly recommend!

Excellent value for money and the scones are to die for! Although we didn’t partake, the menu seemed both extensive and very reasonable. The staff were very efficient and pleasant and we certainly intend to return. Situated close to Dumfries House, it is an excellent stop if you are in the area.

Food was good, hot, tasty and very reasonably priced. However... The 2 issues I had was when the waitresses brought out cutlery they were wet. It can't be that unreasonable to take 10 seconds to dry them. The 2nd was when the same waitress was placing the menus on the tables the one beside me had leftover food stuck on the lower corner. Not very appealing. These are simple fixes and not likely to put me off from returning, but it won't be any time soon.

Food was just ok but the service was just terrible. Needs extra staff on as they couldn’t keep up and the place needed someone who could maintain clean floors and window ledges.

Superb lunch stop en route from Blackpool to Gourock. Friendly staff and comfy seats. The salt and pepper chicken baguette was tremendous.

Love this cafe. We live in Muirkirk and call in here regularly on our way to shop in Auchinleck. Staff are brilliant, even advise us on our English pronunciation failures. Food is lovely and is cooked fresh. We'll be in again on Friday.

Food is always cooked well, well presented. Lots of different options on the menu for a valuable price. Best value for money and cafe in Cumnock They offer the most gluten free foods than any other cafe locally and always do their best to cater to others needsWouldn’t go anywhere else now. Went along to Da Vinci’s for a morning roll and coffee. Food and drink was very good. The staff were diligent and the service was excellent. Good location situated between Cumnock and Auchinleck ideal place to meet friends and family. Wasn’t too costly and good value for money.

We were travelling from Ayr to Peebles and en route noticed Da Vinci's. Looked nice and as they are most definitely dog friendly we thought we would give it a shot. Glad we did!

We had often seen this attractive restaurant from the main road and this time dropped in for a coffee and a cake. Plenty of parking and once in the restaurant it has a very smart decor and comfortable seating. We were quickly served by friendly staff. The cake was very fresh and an impressive size however the coffee, although dark, was very weak and almost undrinkable. A great menu and breakfast looks worth dropping in for! Plenty of space however quite a bit of stores lying around in the lower area. It has a stair lift. The sreet is named 'The Kirk's Alarm'.

Called in here on the way to a planned walk around Dumfries House estate, but cancelled the walk plan after having an amazing afternoon tea. Staff apologised as there was only one scone left, so added an extra piece of lemon meringue pie instead. The tea was served on a stack of three dinner plates, not little side plates. Beautiful coronation chicken and egg mayo sandwiches, and delicious wraps. Middle section had the scone, big enough for two, with two huge slices of chocolate cake and sponge, empire biscuit and shortbread, and a cup cake. Top level was the lemon meringue, which we had to share, it was so large. Large teapot, refilled as required. Wonderful pleasant young ladies cooking and serving; brought us a take away box with two more complimentary huge portions of lemon meringue pie; we also had to request take away for the cakes and biscuit. Very impressed also with the time staff took to chat with an elderly customer on his own. All of this for less than most places would charge for a discounted afternoon tea. Only advice would be to go for your walk before you call in here!

Went in and ordered afternoon Tea for 2 and it should have said for 4 lol....so much. Lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and giant scones as well. All prepared beautifully by Sarah and tasted amazing. Staff were friendly. Lovely place. We will be back

Very busy given it was a nice day and a local holiday weekend. The girls worked flat out with a smile on their faces and were very apologetic for the wait which was well worth it. The best afternoon tea in a long time. However we witnessed another customer who was less than patient and left in a strop, no luck mate! Will be back soon, plenty of parking which is a bonus, helpings a plenty and reasonable prices, TRY IT.

This should be called restaurant as cafe seems to undermine the excellence. The food is first class,the food is well presented ,you must try there homemade soups. Quite filling and delicious .You really should give this a try you will not be dissapointed.

Lovely little lunch spot which should be a little goldmine given location, great parking, pleasant surroundings etc. But we were really disappointed with the food. BLT served between 2 huge slabs of cold crusty bread. Pointless trying to cut through the doorstoppers of bread as the filling wasn’t anything to write home about. Cold - straight from the fridge - slices of tomato, lettuce and hot fatty bacon. The side salad hadn’t been washed properly - if at all. There was what looked like a black bug amongst it although I didn’t waste any time trying to dissect it to find out if it had indeed at some point been alive. However, the coffee was lovely!

it was my first time in Da Vinci's. Definately won't be the last! the food was great! and the staff was friendly and checked everything was ok once we had out food! my friend and I both thought the atmosphere was great and we loved our macaroni calzones! they where huge! they kindly boxed up what we couldn't eat for us to take home!

Currently driving home having just left this place and my boyfriend just turned to me to say he cannot wait to brush his teeth. Pretty much sums up our dining experience.

Found this cafe on the way into Cumnock after being left disappointed at the lack of service at Boswells in Auchinleck. Lovely lunch at a traditional Scots/Italian cafe. Great service, friendly staff and food was very reasonably priced. If we are down this way again we will definitely pop in.

Been to Da Vinci's a few times and the food is great. Cakes are ace and the pasta is really good and to be honest the portions are huge.

Visited yesterday for a quick lunch & as always we were welcomed into the cafe, seated & given menus within minutes, the staff are always so friendly & helpful, nothing is a bother to them, both my husband & I settled on the Spaghetti with Meatballs, garlic bread, coleslaw & salad, very generous portion sizes as usual & absolutely delicious (you'll never leave DaVinci's hungry), we followed this with a lovely iced sponge & a couple of cold cans of juice. Very well wirth a visit

I asked for a donation, on behalf of my work, for a charity event being held in aid of Cash For Kids. We were kindly supplied with two boxes of the most outstanding cupcakes you'll ever taste.

Fantastic Pizza for lunch all washed down with a nice coffee!! Staff are warm and friendly giving the place a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Had lunch with my friend - food was lovely, service was friendly & quick. Place was fairly busy but staff coped admirably. Wide range of choice. Staff were friendly & professional. Highly recommended

went hear for lunch i had the soup and cheese toastie lovely salad with it as well soup was very tasty also had a cake a sort of sponge cake with a marshmallow iceing very good cake as well this is my first time at da vincis but i will be back i would recommend giving it a go i was not disapointed

I reviewed this cafe in 2015 (Terrible!) but decided to give it a second chance as I heard the management had changed. What a difference! The food was piping hot and delicious. Dogs are welcome in the lower part of the cafe and my only concern was that the waitress patted a gorgeous puppy - I'm not certain she washed her hands afterwards!

Second and last time went for afternoon tea place was empty ordered afternoon tea for 2 waitress said shed have to check if they had enough things to fill order . Came back said yes we asked not to have tuna as last time we visited most of sandwiches were tuna we were served cheese . Egg . and a cream spicy chicken 2 scones and 2 slice of cake none were anything to get excited about . Tea was cold noone botheted to come back ask if things were ok got the feeling staff forgot we were there . Half way through 3 people came in with a dog ( not working dog ) if id known dogs were allowed i woyld not have been in at all

Third visit in as many months and third time we haven't had all we ordered served to us. Twice we came in and ordered baked potatoes and a cup of soup and a drink both times no soup appeared. This time we ordered 2 breakfast rolls a glass of water and a cup of tea. Nearly finished our rolls and no signs of our drinks. Eventually had to ask for them as we both needed a drink. Response was yes they r just coming code for oh i forgot since she was clearly doing other thing while the rolls were being made and after they were served. Was considering coming here for a wee birthday lunch tomorrow so I could have one of the delicious looking cakes but today has put me off for sure. Sad as the food is delicious and the staff are lovely

Lovely food generous servings, friendly service and great prices. Nice decor and atmosphere. Could not fault the friendliness of staff. We were offered a box to take home anything we couldn’t manage to eat when we remarked on the amount of goodies in our afternoon tea for two selection.

We had Afternoon tea for two. Excellent variety and quality. The sandwiches were brilliant. The scones were massive,with butter jam and cream for toppings. Then we had yummy cakes to share as well. All served by very friendly helpful staff. Lovely atmosphere.

almost a year since we last visited and I'm sad to say standards are slipping. Our table still had detritus on it and was badly needing wiped/cleaned. I had to send back cutlery as it was VERY dirty, no apology or embarrassment from the waitress, just a "no bother" my wife and daughter shared the pizza/pasta combo, again no spoon to serve pasta with. On the positive note the food was excellent and good value for money, the girl who served us was pleasant and chatty [ the same girl from last year] . While we were there our friends had came in for coffee and toasties, 30 minutes later they had finished their coffee and were still waiting for coffee. I found it very disappointing as I know from experience this restaurant is capable of so much more.

Had a lovely bowl of homemade soup and a coleslaw sandwich which was really nice. The place is clean and bright, the cakes look to die for and the staff were clean, very pleasant and efficient.

Mi esposa tomó nuestra dos sobrinas de té un día y lo disfrutamos como niños. La propagación té era buena así como el servicio. Comimos aquí y bajar y nunca han sido decepcionantes, pero sigan con el buen trabajo. El té era razonable para lo que era!

Un grupo de 9 de nosotros tuvimos un almuerzo a un precio muy razonable. La comida era la típica comida de la cafetería escocesa y bastante agradable. El servicio era rápido y el personal nos cambió mesas alrededor de nosotros.

Vine aquí para comida un domingo por la tarde, tenía abundante atún patatas con chaqueta y sabrosa y abundante por £4. 25. Mi hija tenía Pizza de pollo barbacoa en 7 libras, que ella me dijo que era delicioso.

Tenía un encantador almuerzo aquí, buen menú, con un montón de opciones, personal muy atento, paninis recién hechas y llena de sabor. Sin duda volveremos

Fuimos para el almuerzo y no me puedo quejar de la comida y pasteles! No espere demasiado tiempo, pero es fresco, así que no puedo quejarme. Sólo pequeña cosa es que tuvimos que pedir copas para nuestras latas de coca-cola y la camarera tardaron más con su dedos dentro de los vasos. Sé un poco tonto de mí mencionar pero es un no para nosotros. Volvería de nuevo. Un montón de aparcamiento.

Llevé a mi madre para un té hoy y tuve un latte y tardamos más de media hora para llegar. Servicio pobre y todas las mesas redondas nos estaban llenos de platos sucios. Me voy a volver por un tiempo.

Have been here a few times but went recently for the first time in a while. When I went in, 5 tables were covered in dirty plates and had obviously been sitting for a while. We sat downstairs which also had two tables needing cleared. We sat at the only clean table we could see. The other tables weren't cleared until half-way through our visit and there were still tables needing cleared when we left. There were boxes of veg on the floor along with boxes of washing up liquid. Our seats seemed to be in the route staff use for their cigarette breaks. There was no music playing in the cafe so no atmosphere at all. When this place first opened, I really liked it but my recent visit was really disappointing. There is so much potential with the location of this place yet it shuts about half 4 each day. Live music or themed food nights would be great (as long as tables are cleared promptly!)

First time here and i can honestly say that we will be back, had a latte and some toffee cake was a treat, good selection of cakes and other eateries to have, nice homely place to meet up, have often cycled up past it but never ventured in, now it will become can regular on the bike.

A big group of us landed on our way back from holiday (7) and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Putting tables together even offering us alternative accommodation so the dog could join us. The cakes looked amazing unfortunately we couldn't indulge. The mains were fab - really yummy. They do a great disability service - separate toilet and a stenna to the toilets. I hope we are up in the area again to take in the cakes! There is parking straight across which was a bonus for our 97 year old companion.

Stopped in for a quick lunch the other week. The food was served quickly tasted good and portions sizes are generous. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back!

Popped in for a family lunch to celebrate our littlest member's 1st birthday. Staff were great, food was lovely and service pretty quick to say there was another fairly large group in at the same time. We stay local so this was our second or third visit, and have to say we will be back.Only very small downside was no cakes that could be guaranteed nut-free.

We stayed in Cumnock and dropped in for a coffee and a loan of a pen. Coffee tasted great. The staff were helpful and good for a wee chat.

Realising, to our surprise the premises closed at 4:30, we decided to have an early dinner . We were not disappointed. Our Cajun pasta /meat pizza combo was so tasty and very generous portions. My husband enjoyed his coffee so much he had a second cup. Service was efficient and friendly. Will definitely return to sample some of the scones and bakery on offer they looked delicious. Very nice atmosphere. Only negative..I think they are sadly losing valuable trade closing so early ..don't live locally so possibly I'm wrong.

Opted for the pizza and pasta combo which was very tasty. Good portion sizes, excellent service and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back and would recommend it. The home baking looked lovely but we were too stuffed to try it.

It would make a nice little restaurant but its actually just a very expensive café. We arrived at 4.50pm and last orders for food is at 5. There was no dough left for pizzas, so we had pasta, but there was no Tagliatellie left so we had Penne. Its always clean and tidy, but it gives the impression that it lacks direction and focus. The staff were keen to leave and by 5.15 there was a definite sense that they were just hanging on for us to leave - most of the staff were away by 5. Its a nice enough café but it has the space, the location and the potential to be far better than it is

A baked potato and beans and a mint tea. Menu was bought to the table, but had to go to the counter to order?! Table service would have been nice. Lunch was speedy and hot, nice enough!Will need to pop back for pizza/pasta deal!

Out walking this pleasant local cafe is ideal for meeting friends for a snack or refreshment before heading off on a longer walk in the the surrounding area, close to Dumfries or Auchinleck Houses, local swimming or town centre, clean and well presented it offers simple meals and snacks.

We came in a few times during our stay in Knockroon during our visit of the Cumnock Tryst festival. A sweet little cafe with good coffee, nice lunch menu and friendly staff. It's affiliation with Dumfries House is shown in its tasteful decor and homely feel. Hopefully we'll have time to come for dinner before we leave. :

I've not long had the misfortune to stop off at this place to grab a quick coffee from what looked like a decent place. Don't get me wrong the cafe is nice enough and the menu looked good but I was only there for a decent takeaway coffee. I was stung £3 for a mediocre large latte....Their large coffee equates to a medium everywhere else, it's the same price to sit in as it is to takeout and it didn't taste nice to boot. Not what I'd expect from a business attached to HRH Prince Charles's Knockroon project. It's overpriced and undersized. Stay clear and go to Greggs in the nearby town.

What a hidden gem of a place....popped in for a quick bite to eat to be welcomed by such friendly staff. The food was a delight and so reasonably priced as well. Will definately be telling family and friends of this little diamond.

What can I say - popped in on way to Lochside Hotel as could not check in till later. Got the afternoon tea which was excellent in every way. Great sandwich selection, lovely scones and traybakes and excellent coffee. A real hidden gem in east ayrshire and wish I stayed closer so I could go back. Brilliant value for money too and very attentive staff. Cannot rate more highly!

We eat here regularly as a family and also get take aways. The food is always very fresh and everything that we have had has been delicious. The cafe is fresh and welcoming and the staff are friendly.

Only fault I would say was the noise from the Kitchen was terrible had to talk loud to be heard above this

Lovely cafe on the Cumnock auchinleck road. Pasta dishes are plentiful and good value for money. The afternoon tea set is also good value for the price.

When I visited, the cafe was empty except for two staff. I asked for afternoon tea, to be told I would have to book - as indicated on a chalk board inside the door.This place is on a main road so surely a lot of the trade is "passing" - potential customers wouldn't know about having to pre-book. The cafe was clean and the coffee was OK - that's all I had, but what a shame. I would have spent a lot more money, and I would have returned if I had been served what I wanted.

This is a lovely place and very well kept. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive.My only criticism would be the ordering and paying process, this it would run more smoothly if they took table orders, as paying your bill is very slow when taking and making up orders.Will definitely return.

I often visit Da Vinci's for a light bite or coffee and cake . The menu is quite limited but anything I've tried has been lovely,The afternoon tea is great value and I would definitely recommend it . Worth paying a visit .

We went out for a late afternoon meal and it was our first time in da vincis, the staff were bubbly and friendly and reserved us a table 15 minutes before arriving.
