Cannot recommend this place enough this is our 3rd visit and every time it's been absolutely delicious ❤️ lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff xx the roasts are just something else 😋😋😋😋

Quite simply disgusting food not fit to eat that took nearly an hour to arrive, filthy toilets and the place stinks of sewage. Ruined a Birthday meal completely. We won't be back

The food was luke warm, tasteless and arrived looking like it had been cooked a week ago...when we asked to have hot food it was clearly nuked in the microwave and re-served to us!!!!...we asked again for hot food. The staff then got aggressive with us and marched over to the table looming over my elderly parents and basically said "get out". Before this (whilst I was in the toilet) they forced my dad to pay for food that hadn't even been served. He was surrounded by two people whilst having to get his credit card out to pay...This physically frightened my 80 year old parents!!!! They left traumatised and really quite scared...shame on the Cyder House...

Food was absolutely amazing!! Honestly best pub food we've ever had. Couldn't recommend it more. The decor is quite modern/trendy but also cosy. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff!!

Had Sunday lunch here on the 23 March the only little thing I told the owner was the gravy need to be a bit thicker the beef was lovely and cauliflower cheese will definitely be going again well worth the price

A friendly welcome and efficient, personal service. Interesting menu...we had the gyōzas to start followed by miso glazed salmon and the fishcake. All very enjoyable.

Had a lovely lunch with my cousin yesterday. Plenty of choices for us both (she is gluten free and vegan. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, my lamb curry was excellent. Great service and atmosphere!!

I regret being a bit ambivalent about this place. It should be a cracking spot - open fire, good space and great staff. Somehow it just didn't quite work for us. Not sure what the look is supposed to be, and I think that the way the bars are laid out, with large pillars/walls, rather obscures and represses the ability to make this either a sophisticated or dynamic venue for a good evening out.

A comfortable pub, friendly knowledgable staff who are enjoying themselves and why not on a Friday night. A solid menu and the food was well cooked and presented. On the top tier of country pubs in this area.

Great pub with friendly staff, Excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. We go time and time again because the food is always of a high quality particularly the Sunday roast. There are always lots of good vegetarian and vegan dishes to choose from as well as an extensive range of beers and gins on offer.

We had a really nice family meal at the Cyder House this weekend. Overall, the food was fantastic - 2 veggie roasts which were lovely, the pork shoulder and roast chicken were enjoyed very much but the one meal we did have a problem with was the roast beef, which was so chewy it couldn't be cut through with a knife and fork. The waitress did check on us during the meal, but due to a mix-up with the vegetarian meals, we had only just begun eating and therefore had no complaints yet. My grandmother was unable to eat the beef but did enjoy the rest of the roast dinner. We did get the beef meal taken off of our bill though which was great! The only other issue was that the tables seemed extremely squashed together which meant the waitress had trouble getting the food to some of our group without leaning across others, and we also found it difficult to get in and out of our places - especially my grandfather and myself who have mobility problems. Apart from those two things, we really did have a great meal in a pub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Went for a meal mid week. It feels like the place certainly focuses on quality over quantity which is great. The main course was just the right size and the quality was great. The loss of star is just for the cost Vs portion size. If the cost is due to all the ingredients being ultra fresh/high quality then tell your customers, it'll make the £5 more expensive than elsewhere coat feel more justified. That said, amazing service, great food, lovely atmosphere. Top work.

Loved every thing about our evening here. We had delicious meals. The service was quick & staff very attentive. It was dog & hiking boot friendly which was great as we'd been out walking all day. And it was warm and inviting with an open log fire.

Over the last few years, I have stopped drinking alcohol and moved to a plant based diet - very dull I know! The joy of going out has somewhat dulled so it was an absolute pleasure to visit the Cyder House. Aside from the amazing vegan food (thoughtful and considered) is a great selection of non alcoholic drinks. Fear not that this makes this a dull place as the other options looked great and the atmosphere lovely. A great team behind this place and the results are superb. A great experience and well worth the very reasonable price tag.

Absolutely fantastic food, we’ve been a few times and it’s always been wonderful. We actually live in Kent and whenever we know we’re travelling nearby we always get booked in here. The roast dinners are the best we’ve had really flavoursome and great choice. Dog friendly. We can’t wait to return on Sunday!

This was our first time at this pub and it didn't disappoint. The service was amazing and we didn't have to wait long for our food considering it looked like a busy Saturday evening. The food was amazing - we got the vegan burger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had! Will definitely be returning again soon.

Went with a friend at the end of October on a Thursday evening which turned out to be the pubs Steak Night and Oh my goodness what a find....the steaks were the best ever... so juicy and tender and cooked to perfection! Vowed to go back with my husband which I did last week..it's now his and mine "go to steak place". Booked to go again this week to celebrate a friends Birthday. The menu had an excellent choice of other meals too that I will definitely try if I can tear myself away from the steak ! The pub was warm and very welcoming and both times all of the tables were full so probably best to book in advance. Good selection of beers and obviously ciders- being The Cyder House! Noticed that the cider on tap had changed from one visit to the next which was great. Hopefully this is ongoing as I'm a fan of the "proper" cider and not the fruit infused/flavoured ones! Long may this great pub continue to flourish.

It's become a Freehouse with a new chef, since my last visit. Menu is refreshingly different with many South African dishes. Lamb Bunny Chow served in a hollowed out Champagne Rye loaf of bread was particularly tasty. Beers were not as plentiful as hoped, but Hogs Back TEA and Loxhill Biscuit from Crafty Brewing were on hand-pull last night. Neck Oil on keg also available. Quite a few ciders too, not surprisingly! Dining areas are split giving it a very cozy feel in parts of the restaurant, and decor is to a high standard. Definitely worth a visit.

Not the cosiest of country pubs, no blazing log fire etc. It was very quiet during our lunchtime visit, which didn`t improve the atmosphere. Our snack lunch consisted of rather bland Smoked Salmon Fishcakes, a pint of very tasty Tongham Tea @ 4.2% and a G&T.

We had a spur of the moment lunch at the cyder house today and as always we were not disappointed. James was very attentive as always , the food was delicious. We have booked again already

Wonderful stop at the end of our holiday. Lucky with September sun so sat on the terrace. Service was excellent and the food so fresh and tasty. The Menu was unusual and it was hard to choose. Hope to come back one day

Not local to this area, I chose this restaurant from the consistently excellent Tripadvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. For starters we had the salt & pepper squid, which was tasty and cooked just right. For our main courses we had Lamb Bunny Chow and Cyder battered fish & chips. The fish was haddock, my preference, which was moist and very nicely cooked in a light crispy batter which wasn’t greasy. The accompanying side dish of onion straws was lightly seasoned and very nicely cooked, which made them very tasty. The Lamb Bunny Chow was very tasty, and such a large portion, that we took the unfinished remains home with us. The vanilla crème brulee was delicious and had the light crispy top that a brulee should have. The service was very good, from friendly and helpful staff. We had a table for two with two funky comfortable wing backed chairs. It was quiz night, but we had considerately been placed in an area separate to the main quiz area, so that we were not overpowered by the event. However, we did have a go at answering the questions ourselves, which was fun. The overall décor is a rustic style, with comfortable dining chairs which I appreciate. We will definitely visit again when next in the area.

Prices good, spending just over £100 for 3 meals, alcoholic drinks, coffees, and desserts, including tip. Serving staff were all brilliant. Very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Food was okay. Vegan roast arrived with non-vegan yorkshires, quickly rectified, but shows a lack of attention by the kitchen to allergens / cross contamination. Components of the roast had also definitely spent a long time under a lamp or had been microwaved. Potatoes soggy on outside but dry on inside, floppy/chewy veg. Would still go again to try some of the other Vegan options like the banana blossom fish and chips, since the service was so good.

A really great pub for the family. We’ve visited several times for just drinks as well as meals. Service is always friendly and the food is very good. The very close play park in the garden is really great for the kids

this is my second home, because I work here. And therefore I know that all the food is fresh and tasty, the cooks wear gloves, the waiters are very polite and attentive. But if you don’t believe me, come and see for yourself)

Had a delicious lunch at The Cyder House Inn. Chose the Thursday special of rump steak with chimichurri sauce, triple baked chips and grilled tomatoes. The steak was really tender and cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious. Also good value. Very friendly service and nice pub decor.

Excellent dining experience with friends after a vineyard visit nearby. The waitress was so kind and always with a smile on her face, and the chicken and beef burgers were amazing. Definitely recommend

We have not been to The Cyder House for some time but our visit for lunch last week was not what we were expecting. Three out of the five of us were unhappy with our food. The gammon was tough, the chicken dish was disappointing and my hummus was overwhelmed by the taste of basil and garlic. My husband woke me in the night to complain about the fumes!

Stopped in here around 3.30ish on a hot, hot September Saturday. I was very happy to see their food service runs from midday to late evening as I thought I might have been out of luck. Wonderful service, a great burger, and a relaxing place to rest after hours of hiking. I felt restored and ready to continue the journey after this meal!

Popped in for early supper after a nice long walk. Service, food and wine list were excellent. Two of us had the seared tuna which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. As always, Coco the Cocker was in tow and the staff were very accommodating, lots of treats and cuddles!

Visited for lunch on a Thursday when they have a steak special. Excellent value, and top-quality food in a lovely cosy atmosphere. Steak was cooked to perfection. Nice outside space also if the weather permits. And dog friendly inside and out. Will definitely be back.

Food was excellent. We had 3 courses and everything was really good. We had 3 dogs with us and the staff were really friendly and thoughtfully gave us a table out of the way. Will definitely visit again.

Great location for a relaxed lunch after a dog walk. Staff were friendly on arrival as the weather forced us to eat inside instead of the garden. Good choice of tempting options on the menu. Only small criticism was that the couscous served with the tuna could have had more vegetables or a dressing. Puddings tasty too!

What a superb place! Not your average village pub. We visited for a late Saturday lunch after a long hike in the countryside with our dog. Very friendly and welcoming place, with a “nice” section as well as a more relaxed and dog friendly pub side. A good range of beers - obviously with quite a few ciders including some local ones. The food includes pub classics and steaks but also some interesting and unusual dishes. We especially liked the Korean bbq chicken wings starter, the South African lamb curry and the sea bass served with fennel and spiced potato, but the burger was also good. Very fresh and well flavoured. Other choices included seared tuna or Asian ramen, and vegetarian and vegan choices were also available. Someone has really made an effort to come up with an interesting menu with something for everyone and then take care to execute it well. One of the party said their lemon meringue dessert was the best dessert they’ve had for a long time, but I just finished off with half a pint of pickled pig cider. We will definitely be back.

Amazing Sunday roast and just what we needed after a long day of hiking in the area! Had two tourist that wanted a British Sunday roast and we know the food is always good here! The roast was amazing and one had the vegan roast which she loved! You can't beat those yorkshire puddings! Great beers and the waiter gave a great recommendation on a honey Comb cider! We love coming here!

Came here as a family of six. They were able to fit us in on a last minute reservation, Friday evening. Staff service was faultless. Very attentive and remembered details about members at the table with dietary requirements. Most of us had a starter and and main course. Left absolutely full. Food also was at an incredible standard and I'm surprised they don't charge more. Hard to guess what style of food is served, it's a little bit Asian cuisine, some American (burgers), some South African and some classic British dishes too (fish & chips). Something for everyone and seem to have got a good balance between meals you know, and something a bit different. Impressive amount of beers and ciders on tap (and bottled) available, some very local too. Ambience was great, tables well spaced from one another, indoor & outdoor areas available. Dog friendly & very welcoming. Would absolutely eat here again and recommend to others. Five stars!

Pre booked in the morning for a roast dinner family of 6 to be told on arrival that they had ran out of roast dinners giving no warning. Complete lack of common courtesy. Our first experience of this pub and will definitely not be returning!

Lovely place with great atmosphere off a small road with no traffic, spacious inside and has a awesome outdoor seating area too, family/child friendly with activity children's menu and village playground next to it, accessible from the outside seating area and not overlooked. Then there was the food, great menu choice, had a roast and burger (possibly the best I have ever had), followed by some amazing desserts. It isnt cheap but the quality makes it worth the cost. Will definitely be back!

Not sure if it's changed hands since we were last there but the food choice had shrunk and it wasn't a patch on our last visit..although the service was still great.

Found this awesome place through Google having searched for somewhere dog-friendly for lunch along the A3 to split up a fairly long drive. Amazing food, fast, friendly service and great value for money. It's a shame that we don't pass by this pub more than once every few years because we'd love to go back frequently!

Lovely place. The food is also very innovative. I think they have changed the menu since our last visit, it's better than before. They have lots of vegan options. The banana blossom is a vegan option to fish and chips and samosa pie as an option to beef pies are a must try. ON THE DOWNSIDE- 1. I am Indian, I know the knack of cooking banana flower...it was slightly bitter so 4 star for food. It should have been dunked in sour buttermilk to not turn bitter. Mine was bitter. Husband's wasn't. 2. The food potions are TOO SMALL! TOO SMALL! TOO SMALL! my daughter counted 13 nachos for about £6.50.....6 very small bites for chicken tenders £8.50. Too pricy I would say. We were 5 of us, 4 adults and a child we ordered 4 starters, 5 mains, 3 desserts, we paid £148....

Very friendly staff, place was full as it was Fathers Day , but we were served quickly and the food was excellent and not overly expensive. I will certainly be visiting again.

What a simply wonderful find, tasteful deco lots of little nooks to be with family and friends but not pokey. The service was simply the best, all the staff kind, happy to chat if you wanted and helpful … and managed the menu to suit fussy eater too. I wished we lived closer … it might be a bit out of the way but this was simply the best restaurant/pub meals we have had in years.

Lovely meal and a great pint of Hogs Back TEA

We booked this by dropping a pin 📌 in the map of somewhere halfway between our group & fairly last minute - with additions to our group & it’s a fabulous find & we will be back - some of us did the 3 mile circular walk with dog before our lunch booking & the countryside is beautiful & the walk a perfect pre amble to work up an appetite & thirst & then we spent a very relaxed afternoon in the garden. The food was superb, we liked the 4oz portions of steak perfect for a lunch & the tuna was divine added to this was great attentive service / a real gem - keep it up 👍🏼

Fabulous pub! We stopped off on our journey home from Good Woof on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get a table with only a few minutes' wait. The Sunday lunch was great, and the staff was super friendly! Will go back if we are ever in the area again!

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch here today after doing the shackleford circular walk (see all trails app) which starts and ends at the pub. I am vegetarian and had a superb vegetarian roast Wellington.and my daughter had the veggie burger. The food is a touch above a normal pub lunch. They were busy but service was attentive and friendly. Desserts were scrumptious. Treacle tart with pistachio ice cream with a flat white to top it off. I honestly haven’t had such good pub food for a long while. We will be back. Make sure you book, it gets busy.

This was my first visit to this pub. It is a little off the beaten path, and in summer, it would be glorious. In the winter, the pub is warmed by a lovely open fire It is a destination for dog owners, and when we visited, there were several in the pub. In the car park, there was a pony and trap parked The interior is warm, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The staff are nice, friendly and helpful. The menu has a good range of choices, including vegetarian options. My wife had a red mullet and pasta. I had a Croque Medame. Both were tasty and a good size. Would i visit again? Well, we are already planning to take the family there for Sunday lunch.

We came for Mother's Day lunch and felt the pub was a warm inviting atmosphere with cosy modern decor. They also had fantastic food, excellent service and great beer. I'd definitely recommend the chicken wings and we will certainly be returning soon.

This pub is amazing and has delish vegan food. I had vegan popcorn chicken, vegan fish and chips (battered banana blossom) with chips and mushy peas then vegan chocolate fondant with raspberries and vegan cream …. My non vegan family also had extremely fabulous food…. So so so so good and a repeater… Staff were great too, food just blew my expectations… so nice

Very nice place, second time we've been there. Only downside was that we had booked a table for Sunday late lunch for 3pm for 5 of us and weren't seated until about 3.30 which was annoying as we had other things planned we had to get to. But staff are friendly and the food is very good.

Fabulous roast dinner and excellent service. However, whole meal disturbed by a constant flow of children running in and out of the dining area to the garden, often leaving the door wide open on a cold day. At one point, bouncing a football as they...

We went as a party of 12 including a wheelchair, 4 vegetarians, small children and a dog. We could not have been better welcomed! The food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond to give us a wonderful experience. The playground just outside was very handy and the village is beautiful. Well worth a visit!

What's not to love a quiet location the food is lovely and the staff are very accommodating! There is also a wide range of drinks on offer.

I have visited 3 times over the past year. I was happy to see that they have started redecorating on the inside, which was badly needed. The only issue with this restaurant is that the service is Incredibly slow. It took an hour and 10 minutes to receive our Dinner last night. The food was very good and if they increase their service this would be an outstanding restaurant!

Went here recently for my mum's birthday. Dog friendly and lots of gluten free options available. There were 5 adults in our party (1 gluten free) plus large dog and they catered really well for us. All the meals were delicious and there was a lovely atmosphere. Staff were great.

We arrived for a lite lunch. Couldn't resist the menu, so ended up eating 3 courses. They had a couple of vegan options on each course. Walked it off afterwards, we did the 2 mile round trip following the Fox trail. Nice afternoon, not too far from home.
