Cut in South Lanarkshire

Had a family meal booked tonight they reserved a lovely booth, or grandson has autism and on occasions does not like ceiling fans, he choose another seat in the corner and the staff where Happy to help us move, not all understand autism but these staff where amazing, food was great too 👍

I've been here twice in the past month. The 1st visit was for my birthday, and the food with the side dishes were superb! Returned later that month for the advertised Sunday 8oz rump roast, and it was cooked to perfection 👌 I will be returning and I've recommended to friends and work colleagues.

DEFINITELY THE LAST VISIT TO CUT I have visited CUT a lot of times over the years. It has provided a solution to the lack of quality steak restaurants in the area. It strives to be trendy and my sons are impressed with it, they are probably the demographic they seek. My recent visit on early Saturday evening will definitely be my last. We had a £50 gift voucher provided to us as a gift from our son, so went along to use the voucher with best thoughts of a good meal ahead. We were shown into the side-room at the restaurant which was absolutely freezing, so we had to keep our coats on during the meal. We ordered sparkling water, and were brought a bottle of STILL water, so had to ask the waitress to correct this mistake. We asked for a glass of ice, and had to ask 2 more times before we received this. To the food…… We ordered one starter of Scallops and one starter of Coconut Prawns. They arrived served by a young male who shouted the delivery with a rendition of “HEY GUYS”, and continued in this vein which, while enthusiastic was a bit patronising and blasé we were his customers, not his mates. The Scallops starter was OK, but the Coconut King Prawns starter was obviously frozen scampi covered in a sprinkling of desiccated coconut, albeit well presented. When the main course came out the dinner plates and the serving plates were so large that they didn’t fit on to the table, so were worried that we would end up with a plate of food in our laps. For the main course we ordered a Chateaubriand (medium) accompanied by Skinny Fries for one and Home Fries for one, with sides of Chipotle Slaw and chargrilled corn. The Chateaubriand seemed to be coated in a salty crust and was cooked as medium rare (which was good for me), but my wife struggled to eat it as she prefers it more cooked. Over all the meat was acceptable, but not great. But all the side dishes were all terrible. The Skinny fries were obviously frozen seasoned fries (like you get from ASDA around Christmas), and were so salty they were inedible. The Home fries were in fact small roast potatoes and were not fries at all. The chargrilled corn was sour. It was obviously it was over ripe (almost being off) before being cooked. The Chipotle slaw was also very sour as it had obviously been made up a long while in advance and had soured over time, and it did not taste of chipotle at all and tasted much more like Sauerkraut. We complained to the waitress about all the side dishes who apologised and we then asked for the bill. The waitress brought the bill and said she had deducted the costs of the side dishes as we didn’t like any of them. BUT……she had not deducted the £50 for the gift voucher, so we had to get this corrected before paying. (Based on her reaction, I got the impression that she knew about the voucher beforehand, but it still wasn’t deducted). So basically…without the voucher and deduction for the terrible side dishes an early evening meal for 2 people was going to cost in the region for £200 for bad service, very bad food, and sitting in a freezing cold dining room. The night previous to this we had a wonderful meal out in our local Indian restaurant with great food, great service and all for £60. CUT really behaves like a high class restaurant, no doubt in part due to geography in Bothwell, and charges and behaves accordingly. It is far from that, with only the prices being high, not matched by high quality food or service. The serving staff are very young and whilst seem nice young people but clearly not trained and completely out of their depth. The place would benefit from proper management and front of house staff . As I said…..this was the last visit I will make to CUT. I doubt they won’t be too bothered as they don’t bother that much place seems popular, though probably not with people who recognise a proper restaurant with fresh food and quality service.

Small problem with the order but was sorted, the food was lovely and the staff were fantastic

Pate with oatcakes served with no apple chutney on plate when queried no apple chutney was available. Offered replacement starter. Fillet steak ordered medium and was served rare. Steak knives blunt. For a restaurant like this - very poor. Staff excellent in dealing with it and apologied and reduced bill. Resulted in our group eating at staggered times due to being reserved starters and main being recooked. Also flickering light was also very off putting Not a good experience

Fantastic evening served by franco who made me and my partners evening that extra bit better the food was fantastic relating to the market menu recommend to anybody if you love a steak well look no further

Ate here as a party of 8 with four kids four days ago. The good: Nice decor Well cooked steaks and standard of food generally decent. The bad: Service is pretty poor. Staff swearing loudly at each other in the hallway to the point they can easily be overheard by diners. Serving staff inattentive with nobody present in the dining room for long periods and overlooking tables in our half of the room when the other half got busy. Long waits between courses. Items having to be chased up. Chips - no matter what type you choose, they’re smothered in some sort of seasoning that’s not mentioned or asked for. Home cut chips are just bought-in mini roast potatoes. Mussels - Had these to start. Have had GI issues ever since for the last three days. May be a coincidence but maybe not…. Overall Simply not good enough to compel a second visit. The shouting and swearing totally unacceptable.

Have eaten in Cut quite a few times always found it very good. Last occasion was for Christmas dinner, they didnt disappoint even though it was a set menu selection was varied. All the food was excellent will deffinately be back.

We moved to Bothwell 6 months ago and this has become our go to food place. Everything is excellent including the cocktails. We ate in the bar a few days ago and just had a selection of starters and sides along with some drinks. Service is also very good and the most important thing.................its clean!!!!

Omg if you haven’t been here your missing out! Fillet steak cooked to perfection. Chicken + Waffles was thee most bizarre meal I have EVER tasted and it was BRILLIANT! I’m still talking about it to everyone a week later. Would highly recommend :)

It took 1hr 10 mins for first course ( main ) to arrive. It was lovely. By the time we were served dessert 2hrs 10 mins had passed. Food was all fine but service was dire. Won’t hurry back

It was cold place no atmosphere wee had to ask to close the door and turn off the fan wee also asked the other couple if they were cold and they said yes they brought the starter muscles they where slimy cold and my husband soup cold. Then came the supposed to be fillet steak. Was a lot of fat on it. Won't be back Elizabeth Woods

This is my first review I never ever wrote review today I feel I had to waited half an hour for first drinks and and 50 miss for starters and 1 hour and a half for main and the wait wasn't even worth it feel sick after it service was a joke bill was 140 for 2 people alot of stuff missing from bill actually stood up half way thru the main courses paid bill at main desk and left

The food here is amazing !! The coconut shrimp, chicken waffles are to die for and the cauliflower with the sauce ( sesame I think ) was just AMAZING !! I got that with sticky rice just recently at a baby shower too ) Please never take these items ever off your menu they are sooo delicious 🤤 makes me want to book All the time ! Top food top venue serving staff are so friendly service is FANTASTIC ! Shout out to the chef !

Slightly disappointed, Nice enough over all though. Food was good but nothing amazing, which was disappointing after the good reviews I had heard about the place. Portions were a good size, and the family liked the Sunday Roast. The service was very slow, and not the best. Servers never offered us water at the start of the meal, were slow to come back and offer us more drinks throughout the meal, and forgot to bring drinks over that we ordered too. This let the whole experience down

Bit of a mixed bag, staff were really lovely, beautifully decorated and comfy seating. However they were let down somewhat by the food. 2 of our 3 steaks were overcooked, and mine was black and hard on the outside, it was quickly rectified and the manager came to apologise. Food was a bit salty for my taste, but apart from that the sides were well cooked, onion rings were gorgeous. Parking is terrible, park next door, much better and bigger car park.

Great place for steaks and kids love it too.

Booked a table for today 24th June at 2.15pm my friend arrived first and was seated at the entrance to annex at the back next to the entrance worst seat in the place.we ordered chateaubriand and it arrived cut thickly and uncutable the sauces arrived identical even though they insisted they were different what a disappointment left without eating we weren’t charged but it’s unacceptable they charge £72 for this and it comes as tough as old boots and your sitting in the worst table in the restaurant won’t be back.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was really good but very pricey. Over was a good experience would like to try again during the day in order to try the day menu. We went for 6pm but the menu was rather small.

Absolutely superb rib eye steak. Cooked to perfection and the home fries and mash are superb. Loved the peppercorn sauce 👌

Good value and quality, nice building.

We were a party of 6. One of our group didn't receive their main. It was the restaurant error for which they apologized but the delay in bringing the replacement and two further drinks was excessive. The booking deposit was not taken off the bill. The food was good, our waitress was fine but the experience of a celebratory meal was spoiled. The attitude of the staff at the end was less than concilatory. Very disappointing. Won't be back.

Thee tasteiest food I've ever put into my mouth! 🤤🥩 - It is really expensive but it's a steak place. You expect that. I'd say it's well worth it! Fancy place, great food! Big yum! I'd go here again 100%!

I took my partner to The Cut for his birthday meal and have to say it was faultless, from the atmosphere, the service and the food, everything was 1st class and would recommend this place with no hesitation!!

went to cut a couple of weeks ago for the first time just getting around to writing a review. the place is beautiful inside however a little dark on spending the amount of money that i spent i would expect the service from the server to be a little less cold and rushed if being totally honest almost as if we were a nuisance very rushed and robotic with zero charm right theres the menu right theres the food right theres the bill, however the food was 10/10 i understand on a Saturday night the place is very busy but so is every other restaurant and sadly the service let the whole experience down for us you would expect the server to be allocated tables and to look after those guests this isn't a bad reflection of the overall experience but in my opinion if the service isn't up to par with the food then theres an issue all the hard work from the kitchen goes out the window if the service isn't great however we will be back again i am not a keyboard warrior the criticism is constructive because the food is superb

They fitted us in on a Sunday with two little ones. Really good chat with the kids. Food was amazing as always, picked up a Sunday lunch which was tremendous!

Was amazing from start to finish, was a surprise and we got the tomahawk to share and it was melting in the mouth 🤤 if you haven't been go, the mash omg is to die for!

Heard a lot about the restaurant so thought I'd give it a go with 5 adults and 2 kids. I ordered the steak which was good and rest of food looked nice except the starters which seemed over priced and small portions. The service was the issue. Took staff a long time to clear our table and the decor and atmosphere was very cold. Steak was good though so I'll be back for another.

We had a lovely meal however 1 or 2 things seriously need to be looked at.A starter £16 for 2 scallops I felt was really poor and on the same trend to be given chips and a tiny pot of sauce when you've paid £80 for a porterhouse steak is mean to say the least surely another vegetable or two would not break the bank .

I was very disappointed with my main meal as I had a steak it was burnt not well done chips where not very good onion rings were hard

The young 16 year old waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything. The food was lovely, husband enjoyed selection of beers (I drove) however we sat VERY close to another couple, was a little awkward but didn't put us off and the steak was AMAZING! Been here a few times and always looking to go back.

I have been to Cut on a few occasions now and would say to avoid it at the weekend! We waited over an hour for our steak. The steak was tasty but very fatty (not the best cut of meat), very unexpected for a steakhouse. The cut should be superior for the superior price. I have never been disappointed when I visited on a weekday. Maybe there is a lack of staff at the weekend and they can't cope with the number of customers. I did see a few people ask why it was taking so long to be served.

Best place for food in the area bar none.

Delicious meal excellent service

Came here for a 30th birthday was greatly disappointed, two steaks were cooked incorrectly then instead of new ones they re-cooked one to get it more well done and sent it back out to the other person , we know this as the first person cut it open what a joke , onion rings were more batter than anything else , peppercorn sauce was like water , chips were like sogy chippy chips ,£450 for the meal then £50 service charge (which gets added without asking) defo won’t be back such a disappointment

This place is fantastic. The fillet steak is the best I have ever had and I have eaten a few in my time! But the best thing was the service from Mike. He was brilliant and we properly enjoyed our meal here.

My family surprised me for my 70th birthday.. so being a mature foodie😀when I say food was Excellent...l mean Excellent.!....Staff attentive and friendly. Keera ..(server) was a lovely girl and most helpful in every way. Thanks to my family and staff for a very memorable birthday. I Highly recommend this restaurant for sure.

Amazing fish and steak. Mac cheese in the chicken waffles was very disappointing though, couldn't taste bacon and jalapeños in it at all.

Family of 4 meal, kids 16 & 10. 10yr old wasn't keen on the menu but the 16yr old polished off what she didn't eat. Nicest steak I have ever had, attentive service & no issues parking. Cocktails are lovely too.

Wouldn't recommend at all. Very disappointed, had heard good things about this place & this was our first visit. We ordered Pate & the chicken and waffles to start. The pate came with dry toast, there was no side salad sauce nothing - just a dry dish literally the worst pate dish ever had. There was a hair found in the chicken & waffles - I explained this and the price was deducted from the bill. Mains- we ordered a Sunday roast & a filled steak with sides. Firstly the Sunday roast, meat was ok not the tastiest the seasonal veg was a small portion of carrots & mangetout really bland & basic. And extra gravy was ordered & we were charged £3!!!!! My partner ordered and extra gravy for his steak and another £3 was charge - £6 for two extra gravy dishes and they were small dishes - £6!!!!! The gravy was so watery it was very bad! The fillet steak was supposed to be medium but as the pics show the blood was pouring out this, this was not a medium steak. The chips that came with the steak were seasoned and did no complement the flavours of the meal what so ever and also it was mentioned the chips were seasoned, too strong for this type of meal. The creamed spinach was probably the blandest dish I have ever tried in my life - this was not touched or ate. The waitress lifted our plates & asked if everything was ok, I mentioned the steak as my partner couldn't eat it - he's never left a steak in his life we eat steaks a lot tried all the well known steak houses in Glasgow & never left a steak! She said okay, returned with the bill & said the two starters were deducted but the £35 steak remained. Honestly the worst meal I've had in a very long time & I probably wouldn't have reviewed had they been more courteous with the bill still charging £35 but how could they justify this it clearly wasn't ate & you could see the blood. They weren’t observant not to ask why the spinach wasn't touched. + Add

We visited here this evening as a walk in table for two. We were swiftly greeted and asked to wait ten minutes for a table to become free, not a problem at all seeing as we hadnt even booked! So we had a drink in the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere. We both had the Cut burger, one with beef brisket and the other with chilli beef. These were amazing! Very flavorsome and enjoyable. We were looked after throughout our visit by the friendly staff. 5* all round!

Steaks were absolutely delicious and the staff were amazing and very attentive. Price of the drinks is steep for me though.

The staff were extremely attentive especially Mike , we give him 5 Stars and Erin the same, the food was also 5 star, can't wait until we visit again, and we live in London, and this place knocks the socks off most places in London.

The food was very nice especially the sea bream. The music on Saturday night we found too loud meaning we weren't able to hear all the conversations round the table. The young man who dealt with our table and bill was very friendly and approachable.

Very noisy environment, the music felt like a bar in Ibiza, not a nice restaurant for a higher end steak, £70 chateaubriand was the right colour for medium rare but it tasted and felt as it it had been pre cooked and reheated , told the staff and was offered an 'oh dear, that's a shame'

I've been to cut twice and each time has been a great experience. The steak is beautifully seasoned and charred which I love. The only thing I'd say is that the chips come with a seasoning on them ( which is very nice, I think it's maybe piri piri) just adding this into my review incase anyone doesn't like this and would prefer to ask for them without. Beautiful food and beautiful surroundings, can't fault this place 💗

Sold me rump from lunch menu instead of a sirloin They don't know how to cook steaks The mash potato was unrecognisable more like lumpy rice pudding After asked they did change it for worse mash buy assured me the chef was aware and the potatos just where not turning out correctly today and was making a fresh batch Asking if I had to pay in full when I received the bill because I was not happy and steaks went cooked properly and failed to make mash twice The reply was what do you think I should do I asked for reduced price and she said the mash was part of my meal so can't 😆 Also I ordered sirloin the wife fillet Yet both same price ???? No reply from qny emails I've sent Server was Skye

Had a voucher to use for 100 pounds we had chicken burger and husband had cut burger .food was very poor burger rolls so soggy at bottom and chicken burger was so greasy mcdonalds burgers are better .we had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and ice cream was crystallised couldn't even cut through it .we spent 68 pound on the voucher and asked for cash to be given back as wouldn't be back to restaurant and was told they dont do that, so now got other voucher that's not gonna be used very disappointed in the service I've never had that in any other place if u pay with a voucher u get change back in cash after all the voucher was paid for with cash

Just left after spending £64 on the most fattiest steaks ever. Couldn't eat mine but husband ate his but even he said it was not up to scratch. Skinny chips had paprika or something on them which didn't mention on menu. Onion rings were dripping in grease and finally the £4 bowl of salad leaves were covered in a disgusting oil which literally made me feel queasy. When we told Skye our waitress she just said 'oh that's a shame'!!! This was a treat for my husband's birthday but won't be back!!

terrible service manners . steak was very good quality. but l wanted medium , they brought rare l asked waiter the guy was gonna answer . one of the girl waiter said behind him dont answer !!! they need train waiters there!!!

My girlfriend surprised me with a meal here last night to celebrate my birthday and it was both our first time trying Cut. Can’t remember the last time we sat down to a dinner and left feeling completely unsatisfied. Other than the starters which were pretty decent to be fair, The rest of the meal was a shambles. Both ordered medium steaks which were closer to well done, The peppercorn sauce was horrendous and had a horrible flowery taste to it. Skinny fries were brought out with either some type of paprika or cajun seasoning which completely ruined them and how that fits in with steak I’ll never understand. The fried broccoli we ordered can only be described as over salted foosty feet. Smelt that bad when the waiter brought it to our table my girlfriend tried a bite and had to spit it out and sit the tray at the other end of the table to avoid the smell. Was left trying to be polite and eating a dry over cooked steak. Massively disappointed and was such a waste of money.

Really disappointed with our visit, had wanted to try this place for ages & booked for my partner's birthday. The starters & drinks were good (mini chicken & waffles & coconut shrimp) were really nice but we both got fillet steaks & sides but these were awful, the fried broccoli was horrendous with a horrible smell & taste!! The buttered veg was really poor & tasteless. The skinny fries were badly seasoned & didn't match the flavours on the plate, also didn't mention any seasoning on the menu & if so would have picked different sauces etc. The peppercorn sauce on the side had a very weird taste to it also. Very expensive for a very disappointing meal, would not recommend.

Great venue - food is top tier.

Went this afternoon 6 of us wonderful,food amazing, staff so nice nothing a problem. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to family and friends. Thank you.
