One of my favourite coffee shops in Edinburgh. Amazing coffee and it’s a lovely place to study. Baristas are very friendly too! Very much recommended!

Excellent vibes, excellent coffee, food's pretty good, and if you like making coffee at home, the beans they sell are also top-quality.

Great atmosphere, helpful staff and delicious food and coffee. The hot sauce reminded me of a homemade ketchup from my grandma. 🤩 Definetely will be back!

A really nice cafe with delicious food and drinks ! During our stay in Edimburgh we went several time to start our day with a nice breakfast.

My go to for the last month. Been here like 10+ times 🫠😂 I really like the coffee they have here. Staff is quite nice. WiFi works well. They have the crownie from 101 bakery which is my favourite. The poached eggs toast is REALLY good. Also good price; and it comes with a hot sauce which I am becoming a fan of. Used to be liquid but I love that they changed it for a more creamy sauce. Tried the big cheese. Not very fan of it being like a toasty. The breakfast platter is also very good. Honestly the fact that the butter is not cold and hard, and that they put some salt on it is such a big difference. I do think the difference is in the details.

Probably my favourite café in Edinburgh. I was lucky enough to be shown the place by a friend and now I go back whenever I feel like starting the day nicely. Great staff, brilliant coffee and I love their salmon toast.

Unfortunately, another cafe with excellent coffee but zero sense of community or friendliness beyond the kind designed to encourage expenditure.

This place is a fair walk from the main attractions in Edinburgh but well worth the effort. I had their Peanut and Jam Blondie and probably one of the nicest cakes I have ever had. A must for coffee connoisseurs.

With great food and delicious coffee, this cafe truly is one of my favourite in Edinburgh. The food is flavourful and tasty - I recommend the avocado toast. The coffee is great. Different beans to choose for your pour over with a wonderful selection. I had a geisha and it was spectacular. The ambiance of the cafe is also great. With a rustic interior and funky decor like the Lego Star Wars; they create a cafe that you want to be in. The music is also great. Ah, I love the place.

Probably my favorite coffee and avocado toast in Edinburgh. Awesome atmosphere, delicious coffee and a great selection of food and snacks. Will definitely be back when I visit again.

Like the coffee and the location is convenient but the service is so. so. slow. It's tough to recommend this spot over others when there are so many good places nearby that don't have the service problem.

All I can say is - Tea was absolutely wonderful and the food looked amazing.

After my horrendous breakfast at Scran, Cult was an oasis to the tastebuds. Excellent. Quality. Coffee. Care. For. The. Planet (you can read about their sustainability stuff on the web). Love. Poured. Into. Their. Food. Highly recommend. Have the Avo sandwich with poached egg- it was absolutely delicious. Or, have anything else: I am convinced you won’t be disappointed. Thanks, guys. Delightful. It is rare to find a café that takes care of producers beyond "single source" and Cult certainly does. There is a genuine feel to the place generally, seen in the service, the mugs and of course the coffee. The decaf was a rich yet complex Brazilian blend which I could drink all day. The best avocado toast we've perhaps ever had, and the smoked salmon is literally the best I've had anywhere in the world. Wild caught locally and a must try dish. Enjoyed the orange pistachio rooibos tea also, and the classy presentation. Good people, great coffee and tasty food.

I had a really good flat white here: great coffee and well executed. Service was friendly, prices are at the top of the range in Edinburgh. The space inside does not look great but fortunately we bagged the bench outside (and some rare sunshine in Edinburgh :-) ).

We’ve visited today as part of our “coffee scene tour” whilst visiting Edinburgh for a few days as it was highly recommended by Sprudge and oh boy did they live up to the recommendation. From start to finish, both coffee and service was outstanding. Cult offer a good selection of espresso based coffees, batch brew and Kalita for filter as well as teas and cakes. There’s also a menu for some brunch/breakfast meals. We’ve ordered a couple of Kalita’s and after choosing the beans wanted, we were served one of the most balanced and clean cups we had in Edinburgh. The food was also delightful - we’ve tried the salmon toast and the big cheese which both absolutely lived up to their expectations snd contrary to previous review, were definitely worth the money. The guys behind the bar are super friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth and if you get a chance, definitely strike up a conversation with them. The only disadvantage I’d say was that it was a bit chilly in there.

Cult espresso was a great find in Edinburgh. The staff were extremely friendly and had a good knowledge of local places to get good coffee (which is always a good sign when a coffee shop names another competitor who does good coffee). I had their Kalita pour over which did not disappoint. It was wonderfully crafted and was made with passion. The baristas on shift today knew their stuff and were very attentive (filling up water regularly). Along with my coffee, I also had the big cheese toastie which was sourdough bread filled with cheese. This was also great. Very tasty and not too much overpowering. All round was a great experience. Would certainly recommend Cult Espresso to others and would certainly be back.

Nice to be in the dry when it's pouring outside. Friendly staff. Glasses of water arrive automatically whilst you read the menu. The smoothest coffee. Dogs allowed. Nicely spaced out in these Covid times.

Pretentious overpriced café - 6 pounds for an avocado toast that wasn't even that nice. Also we asked to move to a bigger table that was free because it was too narrow to work with three people, the food and computers and were told we couldn't ? Annoying

I had some of the darkest times of my life in this coffee shop, but their avocado toast got me through. Wouldn’t have had it any other way. Five stars.

Not too loud, but if you're a stranger you don't eat the same portions than if you're not. I asked for a salmon toast, I had 1 little piece of salmon were other clients had 3 big ones

Breakfast dine in. Yoghurt and homemade granola, blueberries, raspberries, coconut flakes. Avocado on toast with poached egg, feta cheese, onion and roasted tomatoes.

Yesterday I wanted a coffee and to shelter from the rain, so popped in here for a cappucino. My goodness, that was serious coffee! Cappucino in a cafe is usally rather bland, but this was a dark, deep-flavoured blend. Whoever selected it knows his stuff.

My favourite coffee shop in Edinburgh !! I starting visiting Cult Espresso when I was in University and never stopped. The coffee is always delicious, the atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, staff and service is out of this world, and if you get the chance to try their food you'll want to eat at Cult every day for the rest of your life. Unfortunately I always devour my food and drink before I ever manage to get a picture.

£2.80 for a cup of tea? A bit steep! Would give 3.5 stars, but Google doesn't allow that :'( Excellent almond croissant. Average coffee!

The waiters were lovely and the food and smoothies were delicious. Can’t wait to visit again. The wifi was also amazing and there seemed to be lots of people using it but it did not delay and was easy to access. Highly recommend.

A place for people who know their coffee, I believe this is the only place in Scotland that offer single origin espresso. Must try.

Used to love it there (coffee is A+), but last two times were super disappointing, sadly. Seems like they can't handle the kitchen, quite disorganized... from problems with the dishwasher, to running out of milk (in the morning?), and both times we needed to wait 40 minutes before ordering food. Also, I don't like waffles since they changed the menu. The options are too odd for my taste.

Great coffee and lovely wee atmosphere in an idilic setting, highly recommend, staff bring coffee to your table after you order and pay.

Salmonella food poisoning. Will not go there again. They had some kind of electrical fault and delay, no problem. I don't mind waiting but they mishandled the food, left it in the waffle maker for 15 mins to get cold then reheated it rather than starting again. Got very ill and unfortunately spread it to my partner soon after. Sent them an email explaining this and was ignored.
