Cuckoo's Bakery in Edinburgh, City of

Nipped in to use the facilities on my way towards the Botanic Garden, bought a delicious flat white. I was served by a delightful woman, who was helpful with a smile. The cakes and pastries on offer looked very yummy indeed. Loos were in tip top condition.

What a great discovery close to Edinburgh's city center! Lovely music, ambiance and service, not to mention the delicious cupcakes and cappuccino! I will definitely come back during my stay in the capital.

Heart warming soup and signature cheesy scones, excellent fondant filled cupcakes and refined selection of loose leaf teas. All packaged up in a cute and cosy cafe. The only place we revisited whilst in the city for 5 days.

Ordered their Highland Coo cupcakes, they were so accommodating in swapping out the filling for a non-alcoholic option and the cupcake delivery was seamless. Cupcakes were absolutely delicious!

Visited the Grindle St bakery yesterday and had a very tasty lunch, delicious leek & potato soup with a super tasty cheese scone (loved the peppery flavour) and then the most heavenly carrot cake cupcake which had a twist of orange zest in it, so good…sweet but this zestiness offset it perfectly. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Staff were very friendly and efficient too. Great value for money in a stylish setting. 🥰

Kleines Café mit wenigen Tischen. Freundlicher Service, nette Atmosphäre aber leider nur " mittelmäßige" Muffins. Das Gebäck ist sehr süß und der Teig leider etwas trocken. Leider habe ich mir bei den guten Bewertungen etwas mehr erwartet. Aber Geschmäcker sind ja bekanntlich verschieden

The waitress was extremely impertinent and passive aggressive. I ordered a cheese scone and peppermint tea but what came was a fruit scone and black tea. When I asked her about it, she questioned my memory. “Are you sure?!” I think I would know my own order at the very least. She then gestured at the poster and claimed that the cream tea deal doesn’t include cheese scones. I don’t know how true this is as the poster is very general and just said scone. After that, she started slamming the dishes loudly at the counter. Very unpleasant. Will not be coming back which is a pity because the scone was quite decent.

We bought four cupcakes and two of them were absolutely delicious with super moist cake (and quite a bit of frosting!). But the other two were the exact opposite; they were terribly dry and almost stale tasting, despite being bought and tried on the same day. Would love to give a higher rating but we threw away half our order which was a shame.

My husband and I ordered cupcakes for our wedding and they were a huge hit! We loved that there were many options for unique flavors and the delivery and set up was done without any worry on our end. I highly recommend!

Lovely raspberry and white chocolate blondie!

I wouldn't order from this place again. From pictures I saw the website, what they show and what they deliver is completely different. I sent them an email but the owner really doesn't seem to care about the quality of what they send out. The whole point of paying their premium is for the design but if they can't guarantee that what's the point of ordering from them? This was meant to be a gift and what was sent out left me really disappointed.

Cuckoo Bakery is just a sweet little shop. Hard to go wrong with cupcakes and cookies (and more!). Personally, I think there is more frosting than necessary, and they don't have my favorite as a standard flavor (a caramel sponge with a creamy caramel centre topped with dark chocolate wrapped around a fluffy italian meringue), but we've tried a variety of flavors, and they rarely go wrong. In the absence of the 'Hugs and Kisses' cupcake, my go-to is 'Chocolate and Sea-Salted Caramel'. Their empire biscuits are lovely with their tea and coffee.

Bought a CHOCOLATE & SEA SALTED CARAMEL cake for my wife's birthday. Short timescale delivery exactly when promised. The cake was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended.

My daughter was absolutely delighted with the cupcakes we ordered for her birthday. The gift packaging and card were beautiful, the cupcakes looked delicious and they arrived early on the day of her birthday. We live overseas so to be able to order from her favourite bakery and receive such good service is a real bonus - can’t recommend them enough.

쿠쿠베이커리는 인스타를 통해 오랬동안 잘 알고 있었습니다. 업로드하는 컵케이크들이 너무 예쁘고 계절에 맞게 아이싱으로 표현하는 것이 특히 인상적이었는데요. 항상 에덴버러에 가면 꼭 가 보고 싶었던 카페였어요. 지난 겨울 코로나가 터지기 전에 에덴버러로 3박 4일 여행을 갔다 왔어요. 도착한 다음날 브런치를 먹으로 아기를 동반한 저희 일행은 모두 6명이었어요. 이슬비가 주룩주룩 내리며 좀 추운 스코트랜드의 날씨였지만 카페 내부는 아늑하고 좋았습니다. 저희 일행은 컵케이크와 샌드위치 종류를 주문했고, 특히 컵케이크는 아이싱으로 너무 귀엽게 장식이 되어 있어서 먹기가 아까울 정도였어요. 정말 매일 먹고 싶은 맛이였어요. 아기 우유병도 직원분께서 친절하게 데어주시기까지 했어요. 빨리 코로나가 종식돼서 다시 꼭 방문하고 싶네요. 에덴버러에 방문할 기회가 있으시면 꼭 들려보세요. 컵케이크는 무조건 강추고요!

We ordered our wedding cake from Cuckoos and right from the start they were totally on board with our elegant Halloween theme. Fiona was so friendly when helping me navigate the order and Vickie was brilliantly creative when designing the cake. I loved that they were so open to my ideas and turned them into something absolutely amazing. We had a cake tasting at the start of the process and it is still one of our favourite memories of wedding planning – cake for breakfast remains the best way to start the day! We opted to keep our order the same even though we had to reduce the number of guests; we sent lots of people home with cake and dropped some at the doorsteps of family who couldn’t make it, and worked our way through the rest in the week after the wedding. I’d recommend their cupcakes any day because they always taste delicious, and the wedding cake was no different! Beautiful fluffy sponge with delicious filling and icing, and with such a wide range of flavours allowing you to create something unique to you!

Visited cuckoos today for a bite for lunch. There was only drinks cakes and soup available so my mum and i had the soup and a cheese scone and tea for two. Soup and scones were homemade and delicious. The tea was loose leaf and what my mum would call real tea! Staff were pleasant. Highly recommended.

Having fallen in love with Cuckoos when I stayed in Edinburgh I knew there was nowhere else I’d want to get my wedding cake from. They were very accommodating in delivering to Glasgow. The cake was amazing and we’re still enjoying eating it over a week on from our wedding! The initial tasting earlier this year was also a lovely experience with tea/coffee and an abundance of cakes try. Quality products and friendly staff.

Passed in to purchase a couple of lovely fresh fruit scones to take away and have in the car, we are keen to support small local business during these Covid times. Avoided the supermarket as there's nothing quite like freshly made and local - the shop looked nice.At the counter, I asked for jam on my fruit scone...answer - we cannot do jam with take-away - I asked why? Answer, we have a big tub of jam and we cannot spread it on! I accepted this as others were waiting - although it is very off to hear this. In the bag, she put a couple of butters and a plastic knife.When in car, we went to spread the butter to find it was rock hard from the fridge and the scone was not fresh at all. Dry and stale.I would have thought the simplest and easiest thing in the world would be to serve a scone with fresh butter than could be spread...even with some jam.Come on Cuckoo Bakery - very poor show, I mean....really?

I contacted Cuckoo's bakery to order a cake to get delivered to a friend. They were super friendly and handled everything perfectly.

LOVE this place. They did my wedding cake (simple one tier semi-naked, in white chocolate raspberry) and it was DELICIOUS and cute. Fiona is a joy to work with, and it's all so reasonably priced. All of their other cupcakes are delicious too. Highly recommend!

Obtienes mucho por tu dinero en términos de tamaño de porción, sabor y decoración.El personal es siempre muy amable, se muestra feliz en el trabajo y se relaciona auténticamente con los clientes.Contratamos a Cuckoos para hacer nuestros pasteles de boda en junio de 2019 y toda la experiencia fue divertida (¡y deliciosa!). La coordinadora de bodas, Sophie, estaba muy entusiasmada y nos ayudó activamente a perfeccionar nuestros sabores y diseños. Teníamos un control creativo total y Sophie nos dejó ser muy creativos. Tanto es así, elegimos 3 pasteles, 2 juegos de bandeja para hornear y 6 magdalenas sin gluten (y 6 magdalenas para nosotros en caso de que estuviéramos bailando demasiado para comer!). En la degustación se burlaron de 6 cupcakes (algunos con sabores que habíamos elegido y otros inspirados en nuestras elecciones de sabores). La degustación fue divertida y tuvimos toda la atención en la tienda. ¡Pudimos sentir la emoción de Sophie cuando salieron y fue contagiosa! Los pasteles eran impresionantes. La gente todavía los menciona y habla de lo deliciosos que eran. No soy Mary Berry, así que no describiré el sabor / consistencia, pero diré que todos en la boda se metieron y yo recibí mensajes días, semanas y meses después sobre ellos. I have gone to his bakery on many occasions because their cakes and brownies are the best in Edinburgh (in my humble opinion). The flavours are creative, thoughtful and unique. There is always something for everyone - cake flavours, cookies, brownies and scones. You get a lot for your money in terms of portion size, flavour and decoration. The staff are always very friendly, appear happy at work and authentically engage with customers. We hired Cuckoos to do our wedding cakes in June 2019 and the whole experience was fun (and delicious!). The wedding coordinator, Sophie, was so enthusiastic and actively helped us hone our flavours and designs. We had full creative control and Sophie let us get very creative. So much so, we went for 3 cakes, 2 sets of traybakes and 6 gluten free cupcakes (and 6 cupcakes for ourselves incase we were dancing too much to eat!). At the tasting they mocked up 6 cupcakes (some with flavours we'd chosen and some inspired by our flavour choices). The tasting was fun and we had undivided attention in the store. We could feel Sophie's excitement when they came out and it was infectious! The cakes were STUNNING. People still bring them up and talk about how delicious they were. I'm no Mary Berry so I won't describe the taste/consistency but I will say that everyone at the wedding tucked in and I was getting messages days, weeks and months after about them. Cuckoo's did all the delivery, set up and provided stands, etc. They did such an amazing job, I can't sing their praises high enough. Plus the value for money in terms of wedding cakes was better than anywhere else we had seen - and that was based on ALL our cakes versus one tiered cake form elsewhere.

The Stroopwaffle brownies were an amazing treat for a birthday (socially distanced) picnic this weekend. So so good. Thank you so much for delivering during the pandemic!

Me comuniqué con Cuckoo's Bakery para intentar que le entregaran un pastel a mi hijo por su cumpleaños número 21 durante el encierro en Edimburgo. Estaba resultando una tarea imposible y comencé a buscar en la región (que no me es familiar ya que no vivo en la zona) para encontrar a alguien. Me encontré con Cuckoo's. No solo aceptaron mi pedido dentro de una semana de la necesidad de ser entregado, sino que personalizaron el pastel y respondieron rápidamente a mis correos y lo entregaron a tiempo. Mi hijo dijo que podía oler la calidad del pastel fresco cuando llegó en la caja y que estaba absolutamente delicioso y de la más alta calidad. Muchas gracias, no puedo recomendarte lo suficiente.

¡Dulce panadería! Estuvimos en Escocia hace unas semanas y nos detuvimos para un bocado rápido durante una caminata. Cuckoo's Bakery situated 1st floor in Debenhams on Princess Street is a fantastic place to enjoy some really tasty well priced food and drinks. The staff are lovely and genuinely go out of their way to make sure that you get first class service at all times. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending calling in Cuckoo's for a tasty snack, delicious slice of cake or just a hot drink, you will not be disappointed

Necesitaba un pastel súper de última hora para servir 50 y Fiona fue increíblemente servicial y muy servicial. I ordered cupcakes distantly from another country for my love who lives in Edinburgh and in my opinion the process might have been complicated, but managers helped me so much that everything has gone perfect! The cupcakes turned out to be very delicious and so beautiful! Delivery was strict on time and it’s one more advantage. I highly recommend!

My son has a dairy allergy and his wee friend an egg allergy so not easy to find a birthday cake they can eat. Luckily we managed to get an amazing Vegan chocolate cake from Cuckoo Bruntsfield. The staff were so helpful and very accommodating and the cake was delicious. Very happy boy!

I often visit this place for my evening coffee and they always surprise me with their fresh tripple chocolate cookies and peanut butter cookies. You must try the peanut butter cookies or chocolate cookies each will cost you 2.5Pound. I can not absorb more sweets so i can nt have the chocolate alone because they fill it with more cream inside which must taste yummy... Peanut butter one the another one where you can feel heavier on the stomach and crave for another one. With this must try caffe Latte in the cup.

My husband and I had lunch here recently. It always used to be so busy in here but today pretty much deserted - perhaps others have been as disappointed as we were. Firstly, I was given a glass with bad crack on the rim and scratched my mouth. Not a great start. My husband's coffee was coldish, as was the macaroni cheese that we both chose for lunch. The menu says 'homemade' though, sadly, it had a partially reheated, somewhat processed feel to it. Quite pricey, especially considering the quality. Not recommended.

I ordered the white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes for my son’s birthday. I have to say these are the best cakes ever. He loved them and so did everyone who was lucky enough to taste them. The communication and service from the Bakery were excellent; they even delivered to a convenient location for me to pick up.

I live in New Zealand and organised a birthday cake through Cuckoo's Bakery to be delivered to a family member. The delivery of the cake proved difficult and Cuckoo's Bakery went out of their way to ensure delivery of the cake - really appreciated this. The cake was amazing! Would highly recommend this bakery to anyone ordering a cake long distance.

It is small and a bit busy, but you soon find out why! Bacon roll is huge and stuffed with hot bacon. Quiche and salad gets a big thumbs-up from my handler. There is a huge array of beautiful looking cakes and the staff are friendly and efficient. Get there early!

I ordered a 12 inch chocolate explosion cake with extra cake pops for my swanky birthday celebration. What a fantastic decision that was! From the lovely Fiona who helped me organise my order, to the totally reliable delivery to the most beautiful and delicious cake imaginable, this was a fantastic experience.

Visited Cuckoo's Bakery to have some coffee and something sweet with my partner. We arrived at 4pm knowing beforehand that it was closing at 5pm but we never planned to stay for long anyways. We were the only customers sitting in (there were 2 more sitting outside) and we had just been served, sometime around 4.15pm, when they started to clean and to tidy up the place. They cleaned all tables, put chairs up and started sweeping the floor (the waitress even knocked my partner's chair a couple of times whilst putting the chair behind on the table and whilst sweeping). This made us feel like we were not welcomed and rushed and pushed away by the waitresses. They completely spoilt our little break from work and didn't enjoy the coffee or the cake. I've worked in hospitality and I'm familiar with the urge to go home after a long and tiring day at work, but I would never make customers feel unwelcomed by doing such things. It's ok when there's nobody left at the cafe, but not quite fair when there are a couple of people still in and who are trying to enjoy a warm drink. Service was quick although not too friendly. We won't be back and certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Cuckoo's did a lovely job on our elopement cake. They delivered on time, communicated promptly and well. The cake was beautifully decorated in just the way we had requested. They even did a bespoke flavor for us, elderflower sponge and buttercream with blackberry jam filling and it was delicious. Thank you so much for nailing this special part of our day 💕

Popped in for quick lunch. Service was slow because the tables were full and there were people coming in for takeaways and to buy cakes. But the Courgette soup and Cheese scone combination was so delicious that it was worth a bit of a wait.

We were walking from the centre of the city to the Botanic Gardens and feeling a bit weary and peckish when we came across this gem of a cafe.

Delightful staff and excellent coffee on the morning of my niece's wedding, where we took our coffee at their pavement tables and chairs in the warm sunshine! Their cakes looked tremendous but didn't sample them on this occasion incase got stuck in wedding outfit! We will always remember this lovely wee cafe fondly and would recomend it to all.

Amazing selection of cupcakes! Went here for brunch. It was quite a walk from the main drag and had Eggs Benedict which was ok. Not sure it was worth the trek we had to do back up the hill afterwards!

Popped in after reading a few reviews and wasn't disappointed. I had a very delicious French toast croissant with bacon and a great big cup of great coffee. Service was with a lovely big smile and I left happier than when I went in! Cant ask for more.
