Crab salad: crab was generous portion and well prepared. Salad consisted of a couple of lettuce leaves so there wasn’t really much to eat the crab with. Very expensive for what it was. We were there for a 60th wedding anniversary and my parents had gone before to organise a specific table. But we weren’t given it, instead being squeezed into a busy table in the middle which was noisy and hectic making it difficult for them to hear. Deeply disappointing and left a bad taste in our mouth so won’t be back.

The first sunny day for what seems like an eon, we headed out to our favourite pub on Chichester harbour. This has everything, beautiful views, friendly staff and excellent food. Even the wine was chilled to perfection. Special callout for Dena, who smoothed over a booking mix up for a coveted spot by the window. We had my 90 year old mum with us who absolutely loved it. Thank you Crown & Anchor, we will be back again soon.

Good news = Great spot and a pleasant hard working server Bad news - 50 minute wait for main course, food and wine overpriced. £32 for fish stew, tasted ok but portion a bit mean and both prawns and langoustine overcooked. Tinwood Estate English Sparkling (nice, locally produced wine) £65 which we have not seen priced at more than £55 elsewhere.

Had yet another lovely lunch at Crown and Anchor, our waitress, Emily, was great with our kids- very chatty, funny and accommodating. Great food choices for our children which is normally either chicken nuggets and sausages, they got to try the chowder which they loved. Great views on a sunny day, we will be returning in the summer holidays.

A lovely pub in a lovely setting. Monday evening 6.30pm for dinner and it was busy and bustling, great atmosphere. All four of us had fish for main course, it was excellent pheasant starter was great too. The staff were lovely very attentive. Only problem was that the three tables around us all had dogs with them. Well behaved dogs but one was particularly smelly. Now I know I will be in the minority about dogs in pubs but this place is basically a restaurant in the evening. I like dogs but not in a restaurant.

Young’s pubs are never the cheapest (especially for Sunday roasts), but they do deliver on quality. The negative of our meal was the smallest slither of treacle tart for my wife’s dessert in comparison to my crumble and daughter’s sticky toffee pudding. Young’s…… you can definitely do better!!

Where to begin! Service provided at start hap hazard. Slow to get our food and all the deserts were underwhelming and very expensive for what they were. Tables rammed in, far too many covers. Chairs were very uncomfortable to sit on for 2 hours. No blinds/curtains up and the sun was blinding, we had to put coats on the windows. Would definitely not go again

This was not our best experience, this was the last meal before my cousin returned to Belfast, after a week of fun & some excellent meals. We ordered our food quickly, as the restaurant was getting busy. The catch of the day starter.. which described assorted fish, consisted of 1 piece of white fish & 5 sardines, our food sat on the hot plate for more than 10 minutes & only arrived after my husband spoke to a member of staff, the food was Luke warm. We were given an extra portion of fries, which we didn’t need & our drinks were taken off the bill.. we just wanted good service. Our waitress was very apologetic, it’s such a lovely setting, shame the food was so disappointing.

The food was dreadful. The fish was swimming in sauce. I couldn’t taste the fish. The vegetables were scattered all over the plate. Badly presented. The fries were ok but did not complement the dish. Service extremely slow. I complained. Was not given an alternative or discount off the meal price. I shall not return ever again. The meal was for a celebration which turned out to be a terrible experience. My partner had steak which he said was overcooked and no vegetables offered to accompany the dish. The desert menu not offered. I shall not recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone. No apology given and ignored by staff most of the time.

I love this place but a deeply disappointing meal this time. One of the fish was completely undercooked, put back in the pan to cook for a couple of minutes but no apology. The pudding stated treacle tart with clotted cream. Instead of clotted cream there was a tasteless, thin cream on top. They should have mentioned that there was no clotted cream, the treacle tart was very mediocre, we only had 2 spoonfuls, mentioned this but again no apology. Hugely disappointing, especially as we had brought 4 guests.

The weather wasn't great but the welcome, views and atmosphere was first class. This was our first visit to the C&A and I had researched it before the visit, from the award winning chef to the issues with parking during the busy times. The menu was extensive with sustainable dishes and the parking was fine. As a family of 4 we went the full hog with 3 courses, the standouts being skate wing, hake fillet and for pudding the pavlova (massive portion). The only down side and why this review doesn't receive 5 stars is due to an a heavily battered haddock and chips (seemed more batter than fish) with some of the chips being overdone and dry in texture. The service was excellent and we were looked after perfectly with drinks replenished and food on time all with a smile. We left feeling happy and keen to recommend to friends and family whatever the weather and was worth the 1 hour trip to get there.
