Cross Inn in Pembrokeshire

Booked a table for 2 for sunday lunch at 2pm. We were given a menu & we both chose the lamb, which we were told had sold out. Disappointing, but we opted for the beef. Our food was eventually served 50 mins later on cold plates followed by a tureen of vegetables 5mins after that , with a tiny jug of gravy ( to share!), which was also cold! We complained to the waiter who took both plates away to heat up, which took a further 5 mins & he brought them back one at a time, with extra jug of gravy. By which time the tureen of veg was also cold..but to be honest by then we had lost the will to live! But warmed up or cold, the meal wasnt good. While the beef was tasty, the roasties were like bullets, and the parsnips charred to a crisp & the vegetables were cold & tasteless. The mashed potato tasted & looked like it was from a packet. We did ask for the dessert menu, but since only 2 items were available, neither of which appealed to us, we paid the bill & left. As we made our way to the car park a man ,who was sat in the smoking shelter, asked if we had enjoyed our meal ( we think he was probably the landlord?!). My husband told him how how awful it had been, & all he said was "Aw..sorry bout that"! We will definitely not be returning or recommending this place to others.

Lovely little pub. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent and you could see it was made with care and attention. Really tasty! Huge portions too. Would recommend. Well done 👏🏻

Fantastic portions, i had the gammon and it came with all the trimmings. Very pleasant staff. A great locals pub. Has a large screen tv and everybody enjoying the football.

Called in for Sunday lunch, food was fantastic, plenty of it too, talked to a few other customers, who were of a similar opinion, downside, I was to full for pudding

My husband and I had a top notch Sunday roast here and you couldn't fault it. There was so much variety of veg and plenty of it. The young waitresses were so pleasant are a credit to the chef. My advice would be to go on an empty stomach! Delicious 😋

This is a pub we've popped into for a drink in the past but in the day time. We liked the look of the pub from the out side and when we when inside there was character and charm about the interior. We decided to call for a beer tonight thinking it will be nice to experience the evening time custom. How Wrong we were. No lights on the out side of the pub as we approached ? The bar area had some young people in who, to be honest did nothing for the pub. Rather noisy. Sat Vaping with smoke and smell floating through the room. Disgusting ! One young girl was so noisy and fowl mouthed we moved into a different room, quite smaller which was full of much older people ? To us it looked like they were in there to get out of the area of the young folk ? The guy serving behind the bar did nothing to help our impression of the Cross Inn. I think the noise. The swearing and the vaping of the younger customers leaves a lot to be desired. Certainly Not going back to the Cross Inn.

Lovely Food, went to the pub for an evening meal, I know it’s recently had a change of management on the restaurant side which works slightly separate to the bar. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the service was excellent. Good variety of food, well priced. Very nice evening for a quiet little village pub. Highly recommend it.

We went to this pub for lunch while visiting my daughter and Grandchildren. Its in a pretty little village. We had noticed it before while visiting so asked my daughter to book us lunch there but when she rang she was told they don't normally open for lunch on a Wednesday but that they would open up for us. The pub itself is a typical old pub with beams . They served real ales and proper home cooked food.. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely go again when we next visit my daughter. There is a lovely outside area to sit and plenty of room inside. They said that they do a lovely Sunday lunch so are going to try that next time.

We had booked for Sunday lunch and arrived at 1.30pm, lunch was served till 3pm. There was a choice of beef or pork. but by 1.30 we were told they had ran out of pork so we had to have beef. When it arrived the beef was so rare the plate was full of blood which turned our stomachs. The roast potatoes were so hard I had a job to cut into them. the mash potato was obviously made from a packet, was not fresh potato .The waitress managed to spill gravy all over the table, she did apologise. We had to call the staff over as the Yorkshire puddings were cold, almost frozen. He did return with 2 more that had obviously been heated in the microwave. Over all a very disappointing Sunday lunch. would not recommend.

Booked 11am same day, came in for 13:00 as agreed on phone for Sunday dinner. Ordered drinks at the bar, went up to Restaurant, sat down where we were "greeted" by staff looking like we were not welcome atall. Have you booked?? yes, 1300, well we haven't got you down, can assure you I've just booked this morn. Can I have your name? gave them our name, no, no-one here for that booking sorry, can assure you I've booked, any other names you booked under? no just the one I gave which I repeatedly said. Eventually after 10 mins of sitting there, they come back and say you have booked elsewhere with another Cross Inn, I ask to confirm telephone number, its the one I rang!! they agree, and come up with some excuse about two separate companies at bar and restaurant. So after this, thought it would be ultra effort to make it right, nope! had to inform waitress twice that we were ready to order after sitting there for another 25 minutes with no one batting us an eyelid in terms of staff at our direction. Eventually, we ask a different waiter, he glances at the head waitress and asks can I take their order?? girl gives a foul look to him and says yes ok. Food ordered, starters come out, ok, main meal different story. Veg / plates / meat etc all comes out, no gravy, not even pre gravy over the meat!! for 10 minutes we waited for gravy, ( we had to ask ) then eventually 1 small server of gravy comes out between 4 roast dinners?? gave gravy to wife and 1 child, two waiting, and waiting, had to ask for another, which again we waited for, dinner cold, veg poor at best, cabbage awful, roasties rock hard, literally couldn't cut into it, beef rarer than rare, dripping in blood. No sauces offered. All in all, unpleasant experience start to finish, wont be going back. Shame really as the barman seemed a great guy along with bar area in general.

Delicious Sunday lunch, super fast service, 4 of us chose roast beef with all the trimmings, tender tasty roast beef, served with 5 veg and lovely gravy too. Highly recommend it.

Pizza to die for 👌👌👌 food is lovely authentic and tasty! Restaurant staff again brilliant! For the rest ! The manager/owner (not sure) is rude and thinks way too much of himself! There was a strong smell of “weed” in the smoking shelter and the manager seemed to turn a blind eye to what was being smoked! We had walked through that way to sit in the garden with the children… It really was disgusting.. there were dogs in the bar which wasn’t a problem but then when they were allowed to roam around and sniff us and my youngest child was not pleasant again nothing was done by staff or the dog owner to stop this… There was a young lady behind the bar seemed happy and polite interacted with the punters well, maybe the owner could get some training from his staff !!! The restaurant side of it was great ! The rest I won’t be hurrying back!

Clean homely comfortable, service was friendly and pretty quick, food was to die for and portions were huge and delicious I need to go a second time to sample dessert as it was impossible to leave room for it on this occasion we hadn't booked in advance and we didn't have to wait we were still catered for

Food and service here are excellent, we booked a table fairly last minute and they managed to fit us in (group of 6) at a convenient time. The food is not in the pub area but at the back and was absolutely delicious. The waitress worked super hard as there was also a large group there at the same time as us, but we didnt feel we waited for anything. Leave room for dessert - even better than the main!

Lunch for 3 , we had 3 courses each ,totalling £50. Main meal was very large and failed to eat it …..had to leave room for dessert 😂 Starters,main & dessert were quickly sent out. Takeaway Sunday lunch is available for £9.00 inch free cake.

Food was average. Shame about the man (ffin) running pub very rude and thought too much of him self will not be going back well he's working there

Friendly enough. Don't do food every day as per sign outside. Misleading and frustrating as foolishly ordered drinks before finding out. Schoolboy error but sign should be corrected.

I can recommend the Cross Inn beause of the professionalism of the staff. Alanda who I spoke to first was very helpful and did not hesitate to help. We held my fathers wake at the Cross and Alanda was happy to change some of the food in the buffet. Everything was layed out and ready for us the staff was helpful.

Exellent Sunday lunch. Had a chicken dinner sat out side in the sun to eat it every item was so tasty roasties were fantastic. Portion size was generous no complaints can't wait to return.

We were staying up the road and popped in here for a family meal. We had a very friendly welcome from staff and the food turned out to be excellent. A proper local pub but in a good way. Hope to go back one day.

Had a wonderful family meal here last week whilst visiting family. Lasagne and childrens meals were all tasty and plentiful, but my husbands pie was the star of the show. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. Prices are very reasonable too.

As a family we have eaten here at least 3 times in the last month, food quality is good, desserts to die for! Could do with having a specials board to mix it up a little but always an excellent experience

Very tasty Sunday Lunch and very reasonable. Only had the main course so can only comment on this. Veg was a bit on the low side but enough for us as. Maybe the amount of veg would not be enough for someone with a larger appetite. However, food and service was very good. Will be visiting again.

Booked a table for 5 for an evening meal to celebrate my step mum's 86 birthday. from arriving to leaving the evening was relaxed and enjoyable. The pub was a pretty country pub beautifully warm, the staff were very polite and friendly, the food outstanding. Hubby and brother-in-law had starters of prawn cocktail and white bait which were a meal by themselves. Main courses were 3 lasagnes, 16 oz gammon steak and 10 oz sirloin steak, all with homemade chips. Puddings were 2 white chocolate and fudge cheesecakes (heaven) and chocolate profiteroles Great value for money. Honestly couldn't fault a thing. Highly recommended will definitely be back in the near future. Thank you

Having been met with rudeness and apathy at the nearby Tafarn Sinc Pub we went here and couldn't have been happier. Warm welcome, really great food and excellent beer.

Dropped in here for a meal on a Saturday night on the off chance there would be a table. We were lucky to get the last one! The majority of clientele appeared local, whereas we were on holiday. The staff were fairly slow to take our order, but there were no major issues, and when the food arrived it was of good quality and portion size. We then went to pay the bill and were told the card machine was out of action! We didn't have enough cash with us and literally scratched around checking the coat pockets of the entire family to end up £5 short, which they, thankfully, let us off with, as we were nowhere near a cash point. It's the closest I've ever come to doing the washing up! So make sure you take plenty of cash, just in case, and enjoy the food!

Fuimos un domingo y decidimos pasar el domingo comida tradicional, muy contentos de haberlo hecho. Era precioso y había mucho de ella. Tenía una gran variedad de carne, verduras y se sirve con 8 diferentes, así como los típicos adornos con la carne que pedimos. Uno de carne y uno de Turquía. Bien vale la pena el dinero y sin duda volvería otra vez. También lo recomendaría a amigos y parientes.

Qué gran pub/restaurante. Reservamos con antelación ya que había 9 de nosotros. El personal era muy amable y tenía un ambiente muy agradable y el ambiente. La comida era más que y si necesitábamos algo más el personal era más que dispuesto a ayudar. Nada era demasiado problema para ellos. El flan que tenía fresa y chocolate blanco tarta de queso. Dios mío era lushhhhhhhh. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar es muy amable y la comida exuberante pero, sobre todo, el personal era realmente amable y servicial. Sin duda volveré

Estábamos buscando un lugar para comer y encontré a lo largo de la Cruz Inn, nos tomamos una copa el viernes 17 de febrero de 2017 por la tarde. Reservamos una mesa para la cena, nos tomamos unas copas en el bar todo muy amable, la cerveza era buena, el precio era justo. La comida era absolutamente preciosa, buenas raciones de tamaño con buen servicio y buena relación calidad-precio. Tan buenos que hicimos para el sábado por la noche, aunque fueron bastante ocupado el servicio fue excelente y la comida era de nuevo impecable. Noche muy agradable si estamos por esa zona de nuevo sin duda llamar de nuevo. Un buen pub, eran un buen ambiente hay.

Visitamos La Cruz Inn como grupo para comer el domingo. El ambiente es agradable. Un buen pub local. Estábamos muy emocionados cuando llegamos nuestra comida. . . . Que parecía increíble. Uno de los domingos más bien presentada almuerzos que hemos tenido. Por desgracia, el gusto no coincide con el aspecto. Fue enormemente bajo condimentada. Tanto la carne y verduras eran sosas y sin sabor. Rara vez deja comida pero esta comida era difícil de terminar.

Hay comida disponible en la cruz Inn en jueves, viernes y sábados, y los domingos a mediodía. Las comidas aquí son geniales. El restaurante es limpio y bien amueblado. El menú es variado. We visited this pub on the last night of our holiday as unfortunately they only serve food Thursday to Sunday. It was within walking distance of our holiday cottage so we gave it a try. We both had the 10oz rump steak which came with home made onion rings, which were lovely and crispy, grilled tomato, mushrooms and a side salad and chips, all for £13.95. The food was really delicious, well cooked and the staff really friendly. We also had a dessert, raspberry cheesecake and the crumble, both excellent. We would definitely return if we were ever back in the area.

The meals were really good, not one complaint off any of us. They were reasonably priced and the portions were more than ample. Everyone that worked there were pleasant and very welcoming. Would definitely visit again.

The best Sunday lunch I have ever tasted (and I worked in hotels for years). Can't recommend highly enough, though I'm loathe to do so in case I can't get a table again!!Evening meals are just as fantastic, great food, great pub, great people

we fell upon this pub on our way to llys y fran, we had a great welcome and decided to come back and have a meal there later. Apart from not serving starters, the main and dessert was very good indeed. They also had decaf coffee too which was also very good.

This pub, in Clarbeston Road, Pembrokeshire, (and not in Spittal as stated) sells great beer (Abbot ale) and has guest beers too. The food here is very good. The Cross Inn is open for food on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 6pm, and for an excellent Sunday lunch. There is normally a fire lit in the bar in cool weather. It's a nice village pub.

Just open again under new ownership,has had a full refurbishment and is very light and bright with a much bigger bar area. Good was very nice. One of the best lasagne that I have tasted. Excellent service and all very friendly.

Dropped in on the way back to our holiday cottage. At first glance a traditional, old fashioned bar area, but then spotted a restaurant area to the right of the building. Lucky to get a table as it was Saturday night. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The meal was delicious and not over priced. Clean plates all round!

Popped into Cross Inn for a drink and to have a break from driving in the continual rain! The Landlord was very welcoming as was the lovely open fire that was burning! We'd definitely stop here again if we were passing.

Visited on the last Sunday in May 2015.We were a family group of 15,11 adults and 4 children.My brother had prebooked for us.There was a choice of pork,turkey or beef or a bit of each !! The meat and stuffing,roast parsnips,yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were served already on our plate.Then the other veg were brought out in serving dishes,they included-swedes,carrots,red cabbage,cauliflour cheese,broccoli and potatoes mashed with mustard seeds !! also plenty of turkey and beef gravy and horseradish and cranberry sauces.This was all absolutely delicious mmm.Everybody cleared their plates.There was then a choice of puddings-plumb crumble,lemon cheesecake,eton mess,ice cream etc !! I can recommend the plum crumble and custard !! Two courses for 13.50 !! Wonderful value for money and the service was excellent and efficient.Highly recommend anyone to visit Great Sunday Lunch.Will be back x

Had a large booking of around 14 and due to commitments, we had to arrive late in the day for Sunday lunch at 2.30.I wish we hadn't bothered, firstly no one knew what the options were until asked by the staff what we wanted. The meat arrived on the plate, plenty of it, but cold. Then the veg was brought out, not only was it cold, but it wasn't even cooked, some was completely raw!!! No gravy until we asked!!It's a shame as had it all been done right it would have been ok, but the price is ambitios and you can get much better value and quality elsewhere.The pub itself was lively, but dated.I will not call there again.

We booked for six adults and four children at short notice for Sunday lunch. The staff made up a table for us as the rest of the restaurant was fully booked. The menu was a carvery type with a choice of meats and two choices for vegetarians. The portions were generous with a good range of side dishes and even the hungriest amonst us were well satisfied. The prices were reasonable and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Service was excellent, with friendly accommodating staff. We would definitely eat here again if we were in the area.

We use the Cross Inn quite regularly as we are local to it and both Wayne, Emma and their staff are always very welcoming. The Cross Inn holds a Beer and Cider festival every year which is a brilliant weekend of different beers, ciders and live entertainment. The food is always to a high standard be it a evening meal , bar meal or sunday lunch. This is a little gem of a place with a large beer garden to the front side and rear.

Arrived at 5.45 for a 6.30 booking. It was such a lovely evening that we decided to sit out in the beer garden for a while, very relaxing place. The pub is spotlessly clean with a choice of bars to sit in and a nice atmosphere. Likewise the restaurant is a nice size with a nice personal feel. The menu was very good with a choice of around a dozen or so main courses which were very reasonably priced. We opted for the rump steak with a peppercorn sauce on a bed of mushrooms and onions and the chicken sizzler which came on a bed of mixed peppers and onions and a side of garlic potatoes which were delicious. Our pudding choice was a chocolate fudge cake with cream and a whiskey/ lemon curd bread and butter pudding which was to die for. The bill for 2 courses and 2 drinks came to £34 which we thought was excellent value. The staff were friendly and efficient and we can't wait to go back. Well done all at The Cross.
