Always come here when we come to South wales! We stay at penally court caravan site just down the road and come here for meals and drinks! Lovely home cooked food and great service! We will be back...very popular so make sure you book....

Lovely place. Visit it 2 or times a year when I see relatives in Wales. Steak pie is legendary, staff really friendly, and the locals are nice people. Wish it was may local.

What an amazing little find. Booked for my mums 89th Birthday as we were staying down the road in Lydstep Haven. On entry in the bar a lovely warm welcome. And then the waitress tended to our needs amazingly. My mum is elderly and I use cancer as I have incurable cancer plus other things. This lady was absolutely wonderful. When our meals came, well how can I say it, they were humongous, could easily have fed 4 people. About the food now, I'm very finicky and like my steak well done, I would rather it be like charcoal than to see any pink. What cab I say, it's not many places that can cook a well done steal to perfection, but this was just falling apart and melted in my mouth, the same for mum but she likes it medium rare. I asked the waitress if she would pass my compliments to the chef and told her what I've written above. She was over the moon, as that night (16th September 2023), the waitress daughter was the chef. I wish I could of given her more than compliments because like I said, the steak was to die for. Would definitely recommend this place and as we only live 60 miles away, will definitely pop in for food another day. Thank you for giving my mum a wonderful birthday, neither of us will ever forget it. Unfortunately my memory is poor for names, and for the life of me I can't remember the waitresses name, but I'm sure she will know who we are, as she said my mum and I reminded her of her mum and herself, who she sadly lost.

Great pub realy friendly locals and lovely friendly staff. Didnt eat there but the smells from the kitchen was lovely they also gave out free baskets of chips while the rugby was on. Highly reccomended

Excellent! Arrived after a long trip with 3 children under 12 at the same time they were closing the kitchen and after a short consultation the chef served a hot and hearty meal for all. Friendly service and super cosy. Also it is a 5 min walk from Penally Court Farm which is very convenient.

The fish was fresh. But there’s nothing else to praise from this place. Unpleasant atmosphere, and rude to tourists. They constantly make you feel as if they are doing you a favour.

Nice friendly place ,food was tasty ,and a fair price ,staff are friendly and helpful, only draw back we found as with many places around Penally stopped serving drinks quite early.

We came for food and got amazing food, service and staff went all out catering with our needs ( even thou gravy is mega werid with gammon 🤣) and cudnt wait for deserts as was also amazing and well enjoyed afterwards cuz of so full and satisfied......would defo recommend this place amd definitely return again.....thank u all staff 👏👏 Matt, michelle katie amd scarlett (gravy lover)

Stopped in for a couple of pints. Lovely small pub with a great view. Really good ale! Tried to book a Sunday lunch, but unfortunately fully booked.

We came here following a recommendation from the in-laws, who stopped near here for a week and came back twice (and now I can see why). Honestly, the menu really is one of those proper ‘salt of the earth’ lineups, whereby they’ve done away with any corporate nonsense and just kept in line with the beautiful Welsh countryside aesthetic. While a good sized front with benches and beautiful views to the sea, the inside is small but makes for a better and cosier atmosphere (especially on a rainy night like tonight!) The staff were fantastic from start to finish - helpful, friendly and always available if you needed. Our mains were beautifully cooked and the portions were huge, so it was absolutely excellent value for money. They also had cakes in glass cases which always adds a nice cosy touch when browsing desserts. One thing I’d add - I’d advise booking in advance, it does get busy and booked up quickly (always a great sign). Parking can be tricky, however, if you can’t find a space on the area on the same road as the pub which is free, there is street parking (although park on wide sections as it can get narrow!) Overall, the chilli con carne was £11.00, the 8oz sirloin was £20.00, so it was superb value for money and somewhere I’d highly recommend to anyone in the region. Thanks guys, superb evening!

Small village pub not many tables,food service starts at 5pm,seems very expensive for what was on the menu,so we moved on after having a drink

Had a lovely evening at the Cross Inn last week. The sea bass was fresh and faultless, the beers were great, and the unexpected, friendly pub company was superb. Thank you, Cross Inn!

Had my first Sunday roast here last week. Couldn't fault it. Plenty of it. Still hot. All well cooked. Finished off with a strawberry gateau.

Found this beautiful little pub just up from our campsite at Penally Court Farm. Very welcoming staff and the food is amazing. I would highly recommend you pop in here and grab a drink and some food.

Would've given more stars as the food was quite good and the service was nice. However due to staff shortages it was nearly impossible to eat there without a reservation (and reservations were hard to get), and the outdoor seating was filled with people who were smoking, but the pub itself is quite nice if you manage to get a reservation.

Lovely cosy pub/ restaurant. Friendly staff, a couple of nice real ales. Little nook in bar for dogs plus outdoor beer garden too with nice views. Only disappointment was when we called on the Monday food wasn't served until 5.30 but stated 12 to 2.30 on menu for lunch we were there 1.45, but didn't spoil our visit and would still recommend.

Book if you want a meal. Nice view across the bay.

Had a lovely meal here. Would recommend the lamb shank. Nice & clean. Staff was friendly. The only gripe was parking. There isn't a carpark & the village is small, so quite hard finding somewhere to park if not local.

Great food and friendly staff. One of the best meals we've had this holiday. Dog friendly too. Just make sure you turn up at the correct "Cross Inn", we booked here then got very confused when we arrived at a closed pub in Broadmoor! Luckily the staff here were great and understood when we turned up a few minutes late

Nice traditional pub serving basic pub classics. If you want gastro then this isn’t for you but it’s clean and tidy and the food is nice. Dogs are allowed in one side of the pub. I suggest booking to avoid disappointment.

Absolutely amazing, great food and amazing service. We went with our 2 children had spaghetti and curry for the kids and mixed grill and a steak for us was the best food iv had in a long time. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our last night on holz was fantastic

Best iv had in a while, the chef cooks to perfection. I genuinely felt like the staff went above and beyond to make our night a good night and was the best ending to a holiday anyone could ask for. They genuinely wanted us to enjoy ourselves and have a good time never mind the view that accompanied us for our evening. Overall outstanding!

Visited on a Tuesday lunchtime having booked. Only one guy behind the bar which slowed service down significantly. That said we were not in a hurry and the guy was pleasant and did his best. Food portions were plentiful and of reasonable quality.

We were staying in the village and it took us a few days to find this pub, but glad we did! Real ale was good and the bar staff were very friendly (as were all people we encountered in the village). The children ate here 3 times and the food was very good - generous portions. I ate here once and my food was very good (fillet of salmon). The Covid restrictions were well adhered to, so no problems on that front. We have booked to come back to Penally next year and can't wait!

We arrived after a 5 hour drive for our 5pm dinner reservation with 4 young children. We introduced ourselves and apologised for being a little late - it was 5.10pm. We were greeted with a “you are very late and the kitchen are now very busy” - this despite fewer than half the indoor, and by no means all of the outdoor tables, being occupied. It was an incredibly disappointing start to our holiday and not the ‘welcome to Wales’ we were hoping for! Service after this point was fine, food was also fine but nothing special and they don’t even have a coffee machine!!

Lovely meals fresh ingredients. We had the steak, salmon, fish pie and curry all delicious and friendly service. Nice to be out again.
