Crofters in East Riding of Yorkshire

First visit to this lovely little restaurant to celebrate 🍾 both Mother’s Day and my wife's 60th birthday and we were not disappointed! The setting in the window table with background music and plenty of space was perfect. We ate off the a la carte menu and we both had three courses complimented by a bottle of fizz. Each course was food heaven and the service was exceptional so we will be returning for the Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday in April. Thank you

Been coming to crofters for a while now and it never dissapoints! Staff can never do enough for you and food is always top notch. We usually come for the roast but decided to try the evening menu and wow, that is the best steak I have ever had - cooked to perfection! Cannot speak highly enough of crofters. Good food, good people and well priced - cannot go wrong!

Not visited for some time but booked for party of 9 as wanted somewhere with a more intimate atmosphere. Had upstairs room to ourselves and it was a bit chilly. Requested heater which was brought immediately. Service with a smile and nothing too much trouble. Everyone commented on how much they had enjoyed the food and what a lovely night they had had. Will definitely return sooner rather than later! Thank you to all the hard-working staff.

I booked a table for 13 family members to celebrate my 60th Birthday and what a brilliant afternoon we had. We had the Sunday lunch menu and everything was cooked to perfection. It was all piping hot and top quality. The service was excellent and nothing was too much bother. Everyone was so impressed that we will definitely be returning.

Been going for years but having booked in March not got the table we requested and we’re squeezed in round table stuck on the end of square table. . When we asked why we did not get the table we booked we was told to “ take it or leave it”. Guess what, we left it . lost a booking for 8 and long time repeat custom. All we needed was a little apology and explanation not an ultimatum

Had Sunday lunch here last Sunday and it was fantastic . Flavoursome, home cooked food which was absolutely delicious with some lovely touches such as proper sausage meat stuffing. Great portions and excellent value. Very nice staff too. Could not fault it in fact it was one of the best Sunday roasts we’ve had in a long time. We will be back on our yearly visit to Raywell Hall next year. Thank you very much

Visited as a family group of 8 on Saturday night. The food was fabulous and great value. My only criticism that stopped giving this restaurant 5/5 is the misleading menu that says you get a carafe of wine with every 3 course meal as it’s actually only a glass, plus the servers never came to check if we wanted more drinks. Don’t let that put you off though we should have ventured downstairs to ask for more in hindsight and I would definitely go back again.

Ordered a delivery Sunday lunch for 3 people. We had 2 pork belly, a child veggie and to finsh off with the most amazing sticky toffee and excellent custard. Came on time with a friendly smile. Great tasty food leaving me feeling very contented and only the plates to wash after a full day's work. Thankyou Crofters , I can't wait to celebrate my birthday with you in October 🤗😊🤗

Amazing Sunday dinner today with my wife in a nice cozy setting, I had the belly pork which was fantastic & my wife had the the beef which was equally as good, everything fresh, well cooked & brought to the table hot...already booked for next week, can't wait

Wow, wow and wow again!! What a hidden gem we’ve found. We had the three course Sunday lunch and it was absolutely incredible. All homemade, huge portions and flavoursome. The ladies that where working front of house and serving was so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. We will 100% be back to try the main menu.

We've been Crofters fans for so long- ( even before the time when Ashley, the present Chef Patron , was one of the schoolboy waiters ) we feel protective of this special restaurant and the lovely people running it. As lockdown restrictions stopped us dining out, we have enjoyed eating Crofters Sunday lunches at home,( slow roast free range belly pork for me every time) or their burgers in the beer garden, so special. But now it's winter, and time to hunker down with comfort food like sticky toffee pudding and custard...this was the finishing touch to the Beef Wellington dinner for two ,with two boxes of fresh vegetables, gravy, and mashed potatoes , all Yorkshire portions, all hot and delicious, that arrived for our wedding anniversary treat ... and rendered me speechless for almost an hour.We must do this again , said my (soon to be ex )husband.Great food, great service, great idea.

We ordered the Beef Wellington from Crofters for a Friday night treat and we were not disappointed. Our food was delivered promptly by Laura at 7:00pm as requested.The Beef Wellington was excellent, perfectly cooked and delicious. This was served with creamy mashed potato, a good selection of fresh Vegetables and a pot of gravy. We were also given a bottle of Prosecco which was very unexpected. We were very impressed with our meal which was a welcome highlight of our week. We have ordered the Beef Wellington for Christmas Day and we will certainly be indulging in another Takeaway very soon.

Staying in a North Norfolk coastal resort for the first time, we had been recommended to a restaurant that also did takeaway, and we looked them up on Tripadvisor.Couldn’t seem to get to their website to see their menu though, so looked more generally and found yourselves.Great takeaway options, so we phoned and ordered. 8pm pickup... arrived at the restaurant round the corner in Sheringham.. they’d never heard of us. Of course, because we’d stumbled upon your website by mistake!!I can only say thank you for being so kind and understanding, and even refunding our payment, despite the fact that you must already have prepared our dishes!We wish you success through to and on the other side of COVID ( the other confusion was the fact you were going into Tier 2 on Saturday night, which we had not heard was happening in Norfolk at that time ?!?)Thought the least I could do was to leave a positive feedback of your excellent customer service and understanding

Excellent Covid restrictions management.This is my third review of an evening dining experience with friends and once again it lived up to its reputation.The service was timely and friendly and what we ate was excellent, especially the steaks which were superb - no gristle, no stringy bits and flavoursome.The prices here are very reasonable compared to comparable restaurants in the area; for 2 Peroni lagers, 2 G and T, a large glass of house white, 3 starters, 4 mains and 4 sweets we gladly paid less than £150.Book in advance to avoid disappointment and settle into the relaxing (not noisy) atmosphere. (Keep it up guys and gals, you are still on a winner!)

As a couple we like good food, a nice glass or two of wine within a relaxing environment. Today we decided to look for somewhere different from our usual haunts, and what a find. Firstly respecting the current pandemic whilst at the same time maintaining their business. Secondly, providing some of the most delightful food, delivered with good conversation and an obvious passion about what it is that they serve through this wonderful, cosy restaurant. Great service all round and good value for money. Well done and thank you.

Bit of a shock when we were shown our table upstairs looked drab and dismal felt like leaving as wevwas dressed up for a specail but decided to stay ,Glad we did as the food was amazing the cheese cake was to die for Prices very reasonable

Excellent food. Excellent service. Lovely people and greatly appreciated how accommodating they are. They had run out of flat iron steak and informed us just a few minutes later. Unlike other venues I could mention nearby without batting an eye they offered a fillet steak as a substitute which was more than generous and kind. Went for Sunday lunch Amazing Great atmosphere really helpful and friendly staff and the food was very very good 2 of the party had the pate starter which was so niceAnd all 4 had the roast beef luncheon which was amazing good quality of delicious beef roast and mashed potatoes carrots broccoli cabbage and then 2 small pans of homemade cauliflower cheese arrived with extra gravy and of course the Yorkshire pudding Nothing is to much trouble this is a gem of a place I really want to keep a secret but they deserve to be busy all of the time

I have not eaten here before but when you speak to someone who has been here, they always have something positive to say. Went here on a Saturday night and had the fixed price menu. Had the leek and potato soup, followed by the flat iron steak and the treacle sponge pudding. The food, service and staff were brilliant. You won’t be disappointed.

Crofters is a fab little restaurant that sells the most fab food ever and if your worried about going out in these uncertain times then don’t they have full safety and hygiene methods in place.You will need to book as it is a very busy restaurant they do a 3 corse meal offer for just short of £25 quid.The food is absolutely lush and hot and also very filling.The staff are all fab too.If you fancy sitting outside in the sunshine they also have a beer garden so you can take your dogs and have a pint a bite to eat or an ice creamPay them a visit you will not be disappointed.

We went to Crofters for the first on time on Friday. I can’t believe we haven’t been before! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! We enjoyed the belly pork and the Crofters burger (my husband said it was the tastiest burger he has eaten) we will definitely return soon!

The team at Crofters understand perfectly what going out for a delicious meal with friends means, and worrying - about safety and hygiene - isn't part of it. Full marks for all the sanitiser, well - spaced tables, and masked staff.Four of us enjoyed the new fixed-price dinner in a private dining room upstairs. Team Crofters has trimmed back the menu to 3 or 4 choices per course, and wine is no longer included, which suited us as the girls preferred to upgrade the wine, and the lads chose the local beers. (This use of local suppliers, and the emphasis on quality ingredients has always put Crofters in a class on its own)Outside in the beer garden others were enjoying the warm evening, and the new Crofters beef burgers. This is another very welcome initiative, which we tried last month - SO good!(and maybe we will prebook the famous Beef Wellington next time) To conclude, look at the menus, book a table, and forget the worries.

Like Grand Designs it is always enjoyable to revisit something you appreciated the first time around hence we re visted Crofters Delivered Sunday Lunch. We further decided to have the same menu as previously.ie Roast Beef Yorkshire Pudding plus all the trimmings filled by sticky toffee pudding with custard There is only one word to describe our lunch faultless.The only difference was that it was accompanied by a glass of St- Emillion

For the first time we have had a takeaway Sunday Lunch and what a great choice we made having Crofters. It was delicious, and with a 20 second blast in the microwave it was beyond expectations. Well worth the money, cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.

Tried out the Sunday Dinner Delivery and was really pleased with what we ordered. It was delivered at the time specified and came hot and ready to serve. We both went for the belly pork with crackling mouthwatering!A good selection of veg and some really tasty stuffing and a light yorkshire pudding complemented the pork.The sweets were strawberry cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding with custard. Both were amazing Definately will be ordering again and visiting Crofters when we get back to normality.10/10

Due to the lockdown we have been unable to vist our favourite local restaurant. So it was a fantastic surprise to find that Crofters Restaurant were providing a delivery service for Sunday Lunch of which we took full advantage. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch of Roast Beef,Yorksire Pudding with all the trimmings Pudding was Sticky Toffee with custard delicious It was so nice to have lunch delivered which was hot and ready to eat. We complimented the meal with glass or two of Rioja. Consequently we have reordered for next SundayOne WordBrilliant

I visited here a while back for my partners birthday and it couldn’t have been more lovely. Friendly staff, excellent food and great value for money. At the time i had recently had my tonsils removed so was limited to softer food choices which they was understanding and help catered for, i look forward to another delightful meal here once lockdown is over.

We had not visited Crofters for a year or so, and we were very pleased on or return to find the service and food had not faultered . We did not opt for the set menu as could not face 3 courses as we have done in the passed, all of our food was hot and tasty and could not have been disapponted well done crofters for keeping up the good work

I cannot imagine a better venue for a get-together, having a private dining room for dinner with friends. The three course set menu has just enough choice (although since Crofters introduced a steak pie, and slow roast belly pork, we are becoming predictable!) with wine included, and the portions are generous.Special thanks to Laura for checking the menu for our lactose-intolerant guest, and phoning me back, it made his evening, and to Ashley for keeping the familiar wine....and ensuring all the puddings are completely calorie-free...

Visited on 20 December at lunchtime for the set menu (with four choices for each course) and every course was excellent. Great service and helpful staff. Cant wait to go back.

This restaurant is wonderful. If you haven’t tried it, it’s an absolute must & you’re missing out!I cannot rate it highly enough. The food and the ambience are second to none & the owners (Ashley Laura) & their team are always so welcoming & hospitable, nothing is too much trouble & they are always so accommodating to your needs. They opened for Christmas Day for the first time last year & what a magical day that was. We booked a private room for our meal as there were 5 of us & the room had been dressed so beautifully, so much thought & attention to detail had gone into it. It was a 5 course meal & every course was fantastic. We were all amazed at the quality of food & size of the portions! I am a vegetarian & can quite often be overlooked at Christmas but not at Crofters, i had a fantastic cranberry & pistachio nut roast which was really tasty, along with my own side of vegetables. We all had a fantastic Christmas Lunch & just hope they open again this year!I would highly recommend this restaurant. In all the years I have eaten here, i have not had a bad meal or bad experience & look forward to visiting in the very near future. Thank you & well done Crofters for maintaining your high standards. After our last visit to Crofters in October we decided to book for Christmas day with our family. We where greeted with a very warm smile and welcome from the waitress and a glass of Prosecco. We had already pre ordered our food and was promptly brought a warm homemade cranberry bread roll which was a lovely touch.

My wife and I visit often and have always had a fabulous meal. So much so that we decided to have Christmas Day at Crofters with the wider family and had a fantastic time. Ashley is very accommodating and always keeps my wife’s favourite starter, even when off menu. Christmas was no different, with 5 people having something different as a starter than was shown on menu (pre-booked obviously) but that just epitomises their service ethos. We can not recommend enough!

A lovely cosy dining room.Staff very quick and organised.The food was excellent.Prawn cocktail followed by sirloin of beef and finished with a homemade brownie and icecream .All was delicious. 6 of us had a meal on saturday 7th December .Again we were all impressed by the service,the fantastic food and value for money.Keep up the great work and hope to see you soon.

What a lovely time we had with friends at Crofters one Friday lunchtime in December. It was lovely to be seated in our own private dining room. We enjoyed a three course Xmas lunch ..i started with the pate, then the sirloin finishing with the clotted cream rice pudding. Absolutely delicious. Moreover, the price was very very reasonable. I recommend!

Crofters is a very nice place to eat it’s a very cosy place and has a very nice cottage atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. We had the set menu you get to choose what you would like and the food is very hot and very tasty. I had the Brie to start and then you get soup and then turkey for the main course which was cooked to perfection my hubby had the fillet of beef which he asked to be cooked rare and it was spot on the pudding was also fab I had the cheese board for dessert it’s well worth a visit and also they don’t rush you to finish your meal. In my opinion it is well worth a visit please book a table you will not be disappointed.

This is our favourite local restaurant and love its cosy cottage atmosphere. We have been visiting Crofters many times over more years than I can remember especially for Sunday Lunch.The food was its usual high standard superb quality and excellent value for money.

You know that " tired/can't be bothered to cook/don't fancy takeaway/bored with the pub" feeling? (Or is it just me?)

This is our first visit to crofters under the new management, we had not been yet because we had heard mixed reviews, but our friends dragged us along. Its appears to me that the negativity on previous reviews seems unjust. On entering it was nice to see the enterence had been renovated and brought into the 21st century. We opted for mid week menu. 3 courses and a drink for £27.50 it has gone up since our last visit but hey hasn't everything. We all had prawn cocktail for starter which was what you would expect with a king prawn finishing it off. It was great to see the main courses had 2 new options which me and my wife had. My pie was perfect with a mix of broken down meat and chunks of succulent meat, encased in shortcrust pastry and a puff pastry lid (best of both worlds).My wifes belly pork was moist with crisp crackling, i was delighted to have to finish it off as it was too big for her. The sticky toffee pudding was moist and dense with rich sauce and homemade custard and the rice pudding had a crust as it should. Just to put the icing on the cake a pint of peroni is now offered as an alternative to the wine (great for the driver). Will definitely be visiting again.

We were at a loose end last Thursday evening and decided to try our luck at Crofters, we were glad we did. This was our first visit since the change of management and - apart from the hiked-up price of the fixed-price menu (now £27.50pp for three courses plus half a bottle of wine) - everything was the same which was exactly what we were hoping for.

We first visited crofters last summer for a evening meal as it was good having returned for Sunday lunch hearing great things about it, we where not dissappointed. We took our family and had the small private room upstairs, which was lovely and cosey and felt comfortable as the kids where not disturbing anybody. The food was all well cooked, the pink beef melted in my mouth and good portion sizes aswell. For pudding we all had sticky toffe pudding,it was vey very moist and chunks of dates and covered in a rich saue just like it should be, it reminded me of my grandmas when i was a kid. The bill came to £89 for 4 adults and 2 children which i though was very reasonable. We will definatley be returning again

We visited as a couple and both thoroughly enjoyed every course! The setting was perfect, very relaxing atmosphere (which is hard to find in most places) lovely music and tea lights on the tables, amazing price for the amount you get, we were stuffed! The homemade rice pudding was to die for and very well presented. Sticky toffee was also delicious and you could tell it was homemade.. waitresses were very attentive and friendly.. really felt like we had a luxurious experience but for a very reasonable price. Will definitely return!

Took my family of eight for a meal as a special treat as I have done several times in the past. The reception and the service was good, The food was over priced and just average. The price of drinks were grossly over priced. A bottle of Budweiser £3-60. A crate of ten can be bought for £10.00. I have been told that it is under new management, well they need to get their act together or they will lose a lot of customers. Needless to say. I will not be eating at crofters again.

We held my Mum and Dads diamond wedding celebration here.Sunday lunch for 8 children and 16 adults.The staff were absolutly lovely.Nothing was to much trouble.They put out place settings,and pictures etc for the day and we were greeted with a smile on a very hot day.The sunday lunch was delicious and very good value.We had a really,really fabulous day and Mum and Dad loved it.

Three of us went for a birthday meal. They now open at 4.30pm we booked for 5 pm . The young couple who own it greeted us and chatted about the restaurant which they took over last November. It was very friendly. We chose the early bird menu which had a wide range of choices. The food was excellent as was the service. It was just beginning to fill up as we left at 7.30. We will definitely go again and will recommend it to all our friends.

First went hers some 30 years ago and it was good then but been visiting again recently on a Sunday and it is first class. The service, food and setting are first class and at sensible prices A three course meal with tea or coffee for under £15 is very good. Highly reccommended.

Very rare indeed I give 5 starts but wow, I loved this place. Great Pate states with Lamb for main. Setting was very nice with romantic music player. Waitresses worked had to please every. Highly recommended

Were do I start, we have been going to this restaurant for more than 10 years and I have never felt the need to write a not favorable review. I think the new owners need to get things right. I can with my friends on the Meal Deal through the week and this is excellent value when the get it right. The service was very slow the staff very young and some of them very unsure of how it works we understand they were new and they can only work to the speed of the kitchen. Portions were a bit small I had the duck and orange and got 3 pieces of orange and a hand full of shredded duck. For the Main I had Sea Bass which I have all the time and I have never only received 1 fillet and we got 1 portion of vegetable for the 4 of us until I asked for more which I must admit they obliged. We were advised not to get the sticky toffee pudding,( I know Tracey's is big shoes to follow) we had the white chocolate cheesecake and it was very sweat. The jury was out about the experience. However, I was going again in 2 weeks time on a Saturday night so I just wanted to see how that went before adding a review. I am sad to say it was now better. We ordered our drinks at 7.30 and got them at 7.55! they took our order and a member of our croup had to got down and ask where our food was and was told they had a large party in and wanted to sort them first!! NOT our problem our table was book well before Christmas and they should be aware of how many covers they have booked in. when the food came one meal was stone cold so it went back and one order was wrong which was the duck to be cooked Pink it came swimming in the sauce which I had requested on the side so it was taken away and rectified but the duck returned very over cooked, I did not send it back again as everyone else was eating. My husband had the Sea Bass and I am pleased to say he got 2 fillets because of the slow service yet again no one wanted a desert. A very disappointing visit. Not sure after all these years if we will return. Sorry Crofters this is not up to the usual standard.

My wife and I have been visting Crofters for many years often as part of large parties. The whole experience just seems to get better and better every time.

Arrived at crofters and ordered a drink and shown to the table waitresses took our food order and we requested wine menu ,we ordered a bottle of wine which never arrived food was served and after three requests we were informed our choice of wine was not available second choice was dumped on table, here’s your wine not poured or offered to taste no problem we can pour our own wine.We had actually eaten our food at this point. Desserts menu thrown down not handed out to each guest . Seriously can you not understand the basics of customer service.Probably better off going to one of Carverys .

This restaurant was reserved as my Mum and Dads favourite places. My dad passed away and we went for what would have been his birthday meal.

My wife treat me to the Sunday Lunch today for my birthday and it was amazing. It's my first time eating here but my wife ate here previously and she has confirmed - the food is the same, so we're unsure why people are saying otherwise.

Not sure the standard is the same as it was .. One of the party had been previously under the new ownership and advised against the sticky toffee pudding so we all had the white chocolate cheesecake which was very sweet... Previously with the sea bass you had 2 fillets but now you only receive one fillet which is disappointing. The service was slow compared to previously..

Small intermate rooms are great for small parties and give you privacy. The staff are young and friendly and very pleasant. The food was very good and I loved it all as did the rest of our party. Only one issue was one of our party had to wait for their main course as it seemed to be have forgotten. Weekend prices are not cheap but their week day fixed price looks a great deal. Gluten meals are available.

My husband and I visited with 2 friends. We had booked the table. We were offered drinks and these took about 15 minutes to arrive. Menus took over half an hour.

Our 57th wedding anniversary lunch at Crofters last Sunday was everything one could wish for. Excellent service excellent food and charming suroundings.

We really like this restaurant and have been several times now. We came for an evening meal Thursday 6th Sept for my husband's Birthday. The service was lovely. We were served by two young women who were both friendly and professional.

Second time I have been to this restaurant this year . Good steaks nice food and obviously the chef knows what they are doing. I just get the impression the majority of the staff are new young and inexperienced as they shout across the room , forget orders for drinks and do not understand the menu .. hence a 3, used to be a 4/5 now a 3 all day long .. point ! Train or complain .. great food served poorly

Booked one of the private rooms for our party of eight which was celebrating my grand daughters birthday / GCSE results. The mid week menu is excellent value with enough choices for each of the three courses. They charge £50 per couple and this includes a bottle of wine per couple.

This small but intimate restaurant situated in between village shops offers a delicious if basic menu - old-fashioned favourites like prawn cocktail & Eton mess are delicious & our Sunday lunch of roast beef was tender and scrumptious. Great value for money too.

Second time I have been to this restaurant and on both occasions it was very good. Steaks great and cooked right, good wine list and generous and varied cheese board. Lovely attentive staff and a cozy family feel to the place.. great place

It is a couple of years since we ate here, We were not disappointed. We chose the special menu, good selection to chose from. So I could have a dessert I saved a bit of my chicken to take home to the dog. Not used to 3 courses. Hope to visit again soon.

Having eaten at Crofters several times over the years, in an evening I decided to book a table for 12 of us so we could celebrate a very dear uncle's 90th birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and service to match, despite the restaurant being full upstairs and down and the cost being so reasonable. The drinks were also good value for money, no overcharging for cordial and water in this establishment. The few wiine drinkers were also well served with a good choice at reasonable prices. This is the first time I have been for Sunday lunch, it will definitely not be the last.

As we were staying at the Lazaat, had to look for somewhere to have dinner.

I held my special birthday meal here recently and had a perfect night. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all 8 of us. We were in a private dining room but received excellent but not intrusive service from the lovely staff, for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. The calves liver, mussels , sea bass and duck were all highly praised.

This little restaurant could be so much better. Food was really good but sadly our experience was spoiled by bad service. Firstly my drink was forgotten then a very long wait for our order to be taken. Another long wait for starter and again for the main course. Our dirty plates were left in front of us for more than 20 minutes and not needed glasses were left on the table making it cluttered. They then forgot to bring us the desert menu and when they did arrive one of them had broccoli stuck to the front of it. Such a shame it's being let down like this.

What a great night out with family, haven’t been here for a while and the service and quality of the food was outstanding. I would really recommend this place.

The food was lovely but the fact that they do (Tuesday to Friday set menu) at 2/3rds of the price made a mistake going saturday night. They do stock good wine though!!!!

Have visited on many occasions both as a couple and in a party and enjoyed it every time. There are three rooms upstairs which you can book for between about 6 and 12 people but make sure you book in plenty of time. Limited yet varied menu which changes regularly and quality is always excellent. Looking forward to the next visit in a couple of weeks.
