Craven Arms in Craven

Fab food, fab bedroom, fab bar, fab atmosphere and outstanding service. This was my tenth visit and fortunately it’s as good now as it was 5-6 years ago. No loud TV dominating the bar (unless something of national importance like rugby is on), a nice group of locals for early doors, nice range of beers and wines and v comfy bed and pillows. Locked shed available for bikes. Perfect base for exploring the area. Thanks Jonathan, Lynn, Jill, Eddie and team. Keep up the good work.

An enjoyable stay, lovely ensuite room. Great food and beer. Breakfast was spot on. Pub is in a rural setting with great views of the surrounding countryside.

Me and a few friends done the Yorkshire 3 peaks! The Craven Arms was 10’mins from the finish line of the walk (which helps!) Staff were top and very friendly! Food was really good and we even got breakfast included with our overnight stay! We will definitely be back!

I recently did the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge with a group of group of nine friends, we booked rooms for the night, dinner and breakfast and could not have been happier with the service we received, we were greeted on arrival by very pleasant staff that were more than welcoming, taken to our rooms that were really cozy, clean and the beds were so comfy I had the best nights sleep, all the staff were amazing me and all my friends were really over the moon with everything this hotel provided, the food was absolutely amazing really tasty well cooked hearty food, just what we needed after a long day walking, I will definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a nice break away stay with some lovely food and great service, I will definitely be back, thanks again guys

We stayed here last night after me and a group of friends did the Yorkshire three peaks challenge. We booked 5 rooms and all our party pre ordered food for tea after the walk. All staff were super friendly. The food was amazing and the rooms so comfy and cosy. The whole group said we would definitely return. Breakfast was amazing too. Couldn't fault a thing. Stopped for a Sunday lunch on the way back from the Lakes. Sat in dog friendly bar area and food arrived really quickly, decent portions and well cooked meat. Then had 2 x Mini puds and nice coffees. Staff friendly and relaxed atmosphere- was fine in walking gear and boots. Gravy could have been better but that was the only downside.

Whilst staying in a holiday cottage a few hundred yards from The Craven Arms we spent a number of evenings in the pub. We were on holiday with our dog so we stayed in the bar area where dogs are permitted and we were able to eat. The restaurant area does not permit dogs. The selection of ales was good and the choice of food was enough for us to be able to vary our selection on each visit. The menu on a Sunday is different from that during the week. They also have a weekly special to go with the standard menu. Service was quick and friendly. The food was of a good standard and the cost very reasonable. The atmosphere was friendly with a number of locals coming in for drinks, or having something to eat - always a good sign. The bar area is busy but not crowded, and dogs are made to feel welcome. My wife and I would recommend The Craven Arms, just make sure you book or be prepared to be served food as it can get quite busy.

Booked a meal today . The Beef Wellington was simply the best . Living in Clapham we've always passed, but never called in . This visit was well worth it .

We arrived at 19.00 and find a large family party celebrating a birthday. We thought the service would suffer but it didn't. The food was lovely, and even better the fish pie was gluten free and they did a small size and a larger size with an assortment of fresh cooked vegetables. There was a good choice of gluten free dishes. We will definitely go again if in the area.

This place was just wonderful from start to finish. Great kern appeal as you drive in. Staff were pleasant and professional. The interior was well presented. The menu had something for everyone. Hubby had the Wellington and I had fish pie. Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted divine. Lovely pudding menu as well 🥰. I could eat here everyday and twice on Sundays. Don’t miss out on a treat.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and valued. We checked in, were shown to our room and went to the garden for a couple of beers, local draught beers, which were spot on (Timothy Taylors Landlord). We had our dinner which, again, was spot on, after which the proprietor gave us a lift into Settle to attend an event ar the Victoria Hall. Upon our return we had a solid night’s sleep in a big comfy bed, waking and going down to a splendid full Yorkshire breakfast which, again, was spot on. The whole experience was delightful and we highly recommend this pub with rooms.

Pleasant, but simple decor, belies a really high quality food menu. We as a group had beef wellington, fish pie and a calves liver special. All outstanding. Excellent value too. highly recommended

I had booked a night away and have to say I was a little worried when we pulled up and we where quite a way from anywhere else. No need to worry, as the Craven Arms catered for everything we required. We received such a warm welcome, with the owner insisting on carrying my suitcase to our room. Our room was lovely, light, airy and most importantly, it was clean. After settling in we made good use of the beer garden before going into the restaurant for our evening meal. I had made them aware it was our anniversary and they had set up a lovely table for us. Our food was really good, fresh and hot. Service stood out too, as the staff worked well and efficiently worked the room. We both ordered steaks, which were cooked to perfection. Breakfast the next morning and yet again, service was delightful. We were greeted at the door and offered a choice of tables. Tea and coffee was constantly topped up for us, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a good choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and then a choice from a hot breakfast menu, made to order. Again, our food was delicious. At checkout we again spoke with the owner who checked our stay had been enjoyable, which it certainly had. This is a gem of a place, which we highly recommend you visit for a meal, or to spend a night.

Went as party of 4. Venue as covid safe as possible. The Saturday evening menu heavily reduced to an A4 flyer. Staff fairly attentive but seemed pre occupied at times chatting to each other at expense of patrons. Menu safe and simple - but a bit confusing, eg 'beef wellington' was filled with dark braised beef 'a la Cornish Pasty' style rather than the traditional slab of pink fillet steak wrapped in mushroom. Building is warm and welcoming. Overall a fair to mid experience, but wont make it a destination diner.

This place is definately worth a visit. The food is great and the staff are brilliant. There is a nice frendly, family atmosphere there. The staff worked well together and made us feel very welcome. They were very Covid conscious and we felt very safe eating there and being served. The food was excellent and great value. If you ever have the chance to visit the area, then you must drop in and visit this place.

Very friendly on the phone when I booked and the same as we arrived. Covid19 measures in place and easy to follow. Excellent ale: Timothy Taylor's as suggested by the barman. Served straight away by helpful waitress fully masked. The meal was superb! I cheekily asked for 2 meats and got them. Both cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes and vegetables. The mange tout had been introduced to the steam and the braised red cabbage added an extra splash of colour. Dessert was homemade sticky toffee pudding and the sickliest sauce I've ever eaten. Absolutely delicious! Good value too.

5 work colleagues went for a meal to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday evening in these strange times. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table given 3 menus for the 5 of us and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived and food ordered no problem. The food arrived and all meals were lovely and of good size and quality. It was from this point onwards we were pretty much ignored in our corner, when you are asked to remain seated and not approach the bar you would think staff would be regularly checking tables to see if they require anything else, as a diner you don’t want to be looking round trying to catch someone’s eye or worse still having to wave to attract attention. We weren’t asked if we would like coffees which we would have had and they lost out on a round of drinks by being so distant. Staff weren’t in short supply but seemed more bothered with setting up breakfast tables! So sorry Craven Arms you need to up your game the food was great but service not so.

Staff very friendly and helpful very nice clean rooms and lovely breakfast. Very good service in beer garden, and the whole establishment was well geared to the COVID19 issues, with sanitizer stations throughout and the staff very aware.

I recently stayed two midweek nights with a group of friends. The hospitality was absolutely superb. The owner, Jonathan could not have been more welcoming, as we were all his staff. The food, both evening meals and breakfasts were delicious, as were the beers and wines. They also accommodated us with packed lunches for the expedition. Rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable, with a friendly the bar and spacious beer garden. We will definitely stay again and is worthy of recommendation.

Wow, what a find!After a hard days fly fishing, what we needed, was a great feed, plenty of good ale & comfy beds for the night..... what we got, was all this and excellent friendly service to boot. Walked to the pub for an evening meal. Staff were lovely. Extremely helpful and friendly. The steak we had was well cooked to our requirements and extremely tasty. The only negative was serving it with French fries. We do not like our meals served with food from the freezer. There is no need to spoil good steak with inferior chips .Salad was good with a dressing and flavoured with Parmesan.. We would eat here again.

Some friends and I stayed at the Craven arms for 2 nights while visiting Yorkshire to complete the 3 peaks. The hotel and restaurant were fantastic. Staff went above and beyond all weekend. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was fantastic. The Craven arms is fantastic value for money. I will be visiting again soon with my wife we enjoyed our trip that much. The hotel manager even called us after our trip to let us know one of our party had left his EarPods in the room and would send them on if we provided an address. Don’t hesitate get booked in now.

We came for Sunday lunch to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. Absolutely superb!!! Gorgeous beef, roasties and Yorkshire’s. We even got extra veggies and roasts for free!! £76 for three with a bottle of wine and dessert! Super! One tiny thing, they told us about the raspberry roulade special, which I had. Unfortunately they didn’t mention it had nuts, which I can’t eat so it was left. Looked gorgeous though!!! Only mentioning it here as feedback for them as they were busy when we were leaving! We visited the Craven Arms on 4th August for a family dinner. The restaurant is observing the new restrictions and there are many signs and information notices explaining the new rules. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was very nice and the portions were incredibly generous! Throughout the meal the staff were attentive and helpful whilst maintaining social distancing rules. I am happy to recommend the Craven Arms. Superb surroundings and excellent food all held together by wonderful staff!!

We had dinner at the Craven Arms after completing the Yorkshire three peaks. The food was amazing. We had the salt beef wellington. The sticky toffee pudding was utterly outrageous. Would definitely come again. They have robust and thoughtful systems in place for hygiene and social distancing during the pandemic. Despite a reduced number of tables the restaurant maintains a lovely atmosphere. We called last minute and they were able to fit us in. Thanks!

We had booked for 3 nights bed and breakfast and also ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings. The welcome was very friendly and set the tone for our stay. The staff, accommodation, food and drink were first class throughout. Although I shan't return to do the Three Peaks again, I shall return to take advantage of the excellent location and enjoy this part of North Yorkshire.

We were so pleased to have found The Craven Arms for our 4 night stay. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great staff, fantastic menu, well prepared food (and generous portions!), bar, beer garden, comfortable and clean rooms. Great location. The team here apply the COVID-19 rules with little or no fuss, which made everyone feel quite safe. Well done to Lynn and her team.

What can I say accept hospitality first class, beds so comfy you'll struggle to get out of them, breakfast so hearty you won't need a lunch, and dinners so good it'll leave you drooling for days to come! It was the perfect experience for a 3 night getaway. Speaking of a warm Yorkshire welcome, the wonderful landlady there even picked me up from settle station so I didn't have to lug all my things a mile to the B&B, and on checking out, the landlord very kindly dropped me back, taking time out from their busy schedules. The food, top class. Definitely try the soup! The gammon steak very meaty, and the Highland burger was to die for. If you want to know what a proper burger looks and tastes like, this is it! The only sad part for me was always too full to try the desserts. All the more reason to book and come again soon thanks again for everything and see you soon!Ps. Hats off in arranging the place for government guidance for coronavirus there are big changes for all of us now but you all appeared to adapt to the new norm very easily

Great meal and friendly people. We stayed on the car park at the back of the hotel in our camper van and enjoyed a meal in the restaurant. It was so nice to see that they were busy after the lockdown. They had taken great care to make sure that tables were placed at leat 2ms apart and everything was spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and our meal was great. We will be back again.
