Crannog Seafood Restaurant in Highland

Shocker - the Crannog restaurant is not on or by the Loch. The meal was good but very pricey ... (expect to pay circa £50 per head for 2 courses) and the service was standard, not great. Food took a long time to come and waited a long time for any orders. I would not recommend it.

OH MY WORD!!!!! I think this is probably the best fish restaurant we have EVER been to. We had seen great reviews before our trip to Fort William so booked well in advance thankfully because there would have been no chance of us getting in without a booking and I can see why. I had the Cullen Skink to start and I seriously could have bathed in it!! My husband chose the cod scotch egg which was delicious. However the 1st prize most definitely go to my main course - the pan fried Hake with crushed new potatoes, asparagus and crab meat (even typing this is making me hungry!) My husband chose fish and chips, we had a bit of banter with the waitress about whether they were gonna beat our Yorkshire fish & chips!! They did!! We didn't have dessert as were too stuffed but they looked lovely. Seriously, if you love fish, you HAVE to book a table here - enjoy

O yes brilliant place if you are a sea food fan like me

Yesterday we ate at the "sister" restaurant (Cameron Square, next to the cinema) because the red house on the water is being renovated. The food was delicious, the service very customer friendly and the ambiance also very good. Highly recommended. Greetings from Holland.

Lucky got squeeze in a table without booking. The food was just amazing, scallops is my favorite. Also, everything is served with smile. Must try at Fort William.

Crannog - 100% excellent - food outstanding, service - second to none, restaurant set-up, views and ambiance - perfect. You will need to book ahead for this very popular eatery. Although very busy, you will experience personal and attentive care from the waiting staff, a vibrant though quiet restaurant and melt-in-your-mouth food. The menu has a wide selection with everything cooked with fresh and local ingredients and to a very, very high standard. I am sorry that I did not take any photos of our meal - but do go this easily missed excellent seafood restaurant. Shout out to Angie and Naomi who went above and beyond to ensure we had a special time (I think this is their priority for all diners!)

High quality of food and adorable staff

Oysters and mussels are really as creamy fresh and beauty as staff recommended. Tried monk fish for the first time and it's chewy and irresistible.

Great seafood and overall good value too. Superb location overlooking Loch Linnhe, adjacent to Fort William town centre. Look out for their specials. We had a whole Dover sole, more than enough for two with a hearty appetite. Magnificent, meaty fish. Wine selection decent. Picpoul Pinet was perfect with seafood. Friendly, attentive service.

Most devine food - ranges among the best we’ve ever had! Everything was to die for and the compositions excellent! Location was super cute on the Loch. We wish we had stayed longer in Fort Williams to be able to eat here again!

Delicious seafood in a cozy and beautiful setting

The food was delicious! Surprising combinations of flavours which result in a feast for taste buds. If it was only about the taste of the food, I'd give 5 stars. However, the prices are quite high and servings (at least of what we had) could be bigger for that price. The interior design could use some refreshing too. The staff are nice and helpful.

Beautiful views of Loch Linnhe and some good quality local food makes this a great option for dining when near Onich.

recently had dinner there while on vacation. we had such a wonderful dinner that we made reservations for the next night as well. The cullen skink is a must have. A small venue with a great view and wonderful staff.

Excellent food, I had the salt cod fritters and the lemon sole! Both were absolutely delicious, probably the best fish I've ever tasted. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

We have been coming to Fort William for the past 3 years and end up eating at Crannog every time. It’s the freshest most beautiful seafood we have tasted, and all ingredients have been carefully selected and thoughtful to compliment the delicious fresh seafood.

Tempting food, rubbish service. Poor service is not made up for by fresh tasty food in my book. So I can’t recommend this beautifully located restaurant. Totally out of place banal music too meant I didn’t want to stay.

Booked here for a mother daughter afternoon with my 8 year old. She loves seafood. Fab food and great staff I had a lovely girl serve us and then a man waiter came to check in on us and took the rest of the order as we decided to have more 😄 So friendly can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely amazing seafood and great service. Seafood was some of the best we've ever had. Special mention to the South African chap (who's name I didn't get) for a lift back to our air bnb when no cabs were available. Really going above and beyond.

We were very lucky to get a table at this incredibly popular location! Right on the water with a great view and the food was absolutely delicious, a great end to a day's trek up Ben Nevis! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We had the Cullen Skink for starter and mussels and lemon sole for mains, with a side of broccoli, all fantastic! All in all, a great experience that is not to be missed 👌🏼

A visit to The Crannog was a special treat for us as we were touring the area on our honeymoon. And we were so glad we booked. I first visited The Crannog 20 years ago and it was still as wonderful as I remembered. Such a beautiful setting on the pier over the water, definitely ask for a table by the window! We watched the sun setting over the mountains and the seagulls while we ate. The food was delicious with a good variety on the menu, perfect portions and all beautifully presented. I had the summer vegetable tart to start and he had the sweet cured herring. We followed with lemon sole and Shetland salmon and finished with honey roasted peaches and pear and elderflower custard tart. All simply wonderful. We received fantastic customer service from friendly staff who all took the time to congratulate us on our wedding. What a great evening, we wish we lived closer so we could visit again sooner.

Amazing experience at Crannog. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was perfect, fast and with the smile. The place is really nice, you have a beautiful view on the Loch. It’s a must if you’re over there!

I've never had crab so fresh or buttered lobster that tasted so rich with flavor! I came to Fort William to hike but the wonderful meal I had at Crannog Seafood Restaurant will very much be a part of my memory of my visit here.

Starters were bland and tasteless. Ordered oat crust hake from the specials menu and the oat crust was burnt and tasted of charcoal. No-one asked us if the meal was good or not. Would not recommend.

Celebrated partners Birthday with a lovely evening dinner our table over looked the sea we had a Crab starter which was delightful followed by the excellent lemon Dover sole which was sheer delight we were really looked after during our meal I know that Crannogs looks after meat eaters as well but it is a Must for fish dwellers!!

Très bon restaurant de poisson avec une vue imprenable sur le Loch. Le seul du centre ville avec cette vue. Réservation quasi obligatoire.

Nice cute place with nice menu. Staff were so nice, my gf booked this place and asked them to write a happy birthday note on our table - to which they obliged. All food on menu looks really good. I overheard there is no kids menu they just make smaller portions of what is on the menu.

On the positive side, the manager did let us have a table although we had not made reservations. Very nice of her to do so. However, after we were served a nice salad and ciabatta bread as a starter, we sat, and sat, and SAT for 30 minutes when we were informed that the waitress had forgotten to tell chef we had finished our starters and our main course had not yet been prepared. 20 minutes later, when no food appeared, we walked out.

Was worth the experience, the food and service was 100%, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Fort William.

I was there in 1991, verry good I had the lobster, best one in scotland. It still looks the same from the outside.

We had a wonderful lunch here. Seefood dishes were fabulous and staffs were really accommodating. If we visit Scotland again, Crannog is definitely a place we want to book again.

Excellent food with great service. All service staff were good but siya was exceptional. She took our dinner order carefully while explaining details of the item. The food presentation and quality was great especially lemon sole.

Crannog I'm afraid did not live up to expectation. Undoubtedly the view is amazing, however my main course of lemon soul to be stuffed with prawns which I could not find, calamari starter was too chewy. When we asked for advice on whiskeys we were told manager was too busy and to be fair restaurant at the time was only half full, overall I wouldn't recommend as quite expensive for what we got and overcharged for items we didn't order.

Ristorante bellissimo. Splendide le vetrate che danno sull'esterno, si mangia veramente molto bene, ottimo il salmone e la zuppa di cozze... Squisita! Vino bianco a calice e dolce alla pesca delizioso.

Conviene reservar, tanto si quieres mesa con vistas al lago como sino. Pescado local y ambiente calido. Muy buenos mejillones, lenguado y vieiras

One of the best meal we had in UK. Loved every dish we ordered especially the cod fish. Staff was very friendly. Place was fully booked and no walk-in allowed on the Friday evening we visited.

Great view, great food, super friendly service

As an avid seafood fan, I am amazed at the freshness of their fare. My favourite is ‘Fisherman’s Feast’ - a mixture of fried fish fillets, mussels, a scallop, and a langoustine, swimming in a tomato and veg-based soup. Just beautiful.

A place where you can enjoy delicious seafood dishes with a boat-like interior. None of the dishes we ordered were dissatisfied.

No frills, old-school, authentic seafood restaurant on the lochside. A well thought out menu, the food was fantastic fresh quality and superbly cooked. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

What a gem of a restaurant in a fairly remote spot in Scotland! Great views with sunset rays beaming into this cosy little restaurant. We were blessed with great weather in Port William. The food was out of this world. Fresh, creative and well balanced. From the octopus starter, crab tart to the fish soup (akin to boulabaise) and lobsters - all were magnificent. Even the Glen Spean IPA had a very unique flavour which complemented the meal. Overall 5 star with tip top service.

Beautiful setting. We were only after a snack and some local oysters, but found the food very average and rather overpriced. Our ousters were served with the mignonette (mignonette was sweet - a new one for me….) already inside so no choice whether you want to use it or not. Overall we’ve found the whole experience rather disappointing. Clearly, this is one of the tourist-trap places and doesn’t reflect how lovely and wholesome Fort William is.

Just the most delicious seafood enjoyed in a long time. Relaxed. No rush. Just yummy! Scallops were perfectly cooked. Langustine tasty as anything and the mussels.... totally scrumpy 🤪💖🦐👍

Called in without a reservation and managed to get a table, fantastic food, very tasty, not cheap but worth every penny. Fantastic views over the loch. Can't wait to go back.

Good food, fab location, a little pricey.

Delicious dinner spot and great views! They were especially busy during our booking so we had to wait a few minutes for our table, but we had a chance to get a drink at the bar. This was probably one of the best meals we had in Scotland!
