It’s just fantastic that this restaurant has reopened and it’s as good as ever. I’m pleased to say that the restaurant was fully booked and the atmosphere was appreciative and relaxed. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious: the cheese soufflé was particularly marvellous. This is a wonderful place for a celebratory meal and it is excellent value for the money.

Usually visit once a year when we're in Fife because we enjoy it so much. This year was no exception. We had a table in the annexe overlooking the sea; the staff were attentive without being in your face; the food was delicious; and despite the pandemic the restaurant was full. If I had to eat a Twice Baked cheese souffle every day for the rest of my life you wouldn't hear me complain.

Another wonderful visit to Craig Millar. Each course a delight. We found it difficult to choose from the menu wanting to try it all! It didn't disappoint. The staff are so welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed and it is beautiful looking out across the St Monans harbour and the Forth as you eat. Sadly no dolphins this time.

Visited on a lovely autumn day with great views , several tables in use outside with heaters and wine etc available but not inside at our table due to Covid . Had an excellent lunch ( no dinner at present due to Covid ) . Despite being busy good service . Food was outstanding ( cheese soufflé, halibut and bramble parfait ) and in my opinion Michelin star standard at a reasonable price.

This was the highlight of our recent staycation. We dined with a gorgeous sea view and the service was superb. The exquisite food is definitely worthy of a Michelin star and could not fault one dish. The way the kitchen tailored the menu to a coeliac’s requirements was an added bonus. Have to say this has been my favourite dining experience for a very long time. Oh and do have the wine pairing - great value and thoughtful and innovative choices.

What a gem of a restaurant and we were so lucky to be able to sit outside in the sun and enjoy lunch with wine. Patio heater and blanket supplied supplied as it cooled down. Really accommodating and helpful staff , lovely setting for a restaurant but the star of the show is the food. Wonderful 4 course menu, high quality food , wonderful presentation at a fantastic price. Started with smoked salmon and a ham hock followed by twice baked soufflé and pea panacotta, both selected the fabulous turbot. A short break and then white chocolate panacotta and bramble parfait. Delicious. Will definitely return next time we are in the area Thanks for a great time

So I have to start by saying the food was amazing and if it was for food only it would be an excellent. I’ve waited so long to come here and was so excited. As a little girl I used to visit here when it was a pub! So what made it average? I’m not sure if it was a shortage of staff or that the customers sitting outside buying the alcohol took priority, but we were left with a forgotten feeling and attention to detail with staff was really disappointing. We opted for a table inside as the weather wasn’t great. We knew with new restrictions that meant no alcohol which was fine for us. Food was delicious but nobody checked on us to ask if we were ok, I watched from the window where we sat as staff checked again and again on the outside guests and one table who arrived just after us had plates cleared quickly and also staff chatting to them. We waited 25 minutes for dessert plates to be cleared, only after I went to find someone to ask. At that point I asked for the bill. No offer of coffee or other drinks during the meal. What saddened me was a table behind were offered non alcoholic cocktails when they sat down, I said to my husband when we arrived a mocktail would be lovely but not mentioned or on the menu. Maybe we just went on an off day for staff and would try again but maybe I’ll brave the weather and sit outside.

A faultless performance from the kitchen, special mention to the twice baked Isle of mull cheese souffle, finger licking good, absolutely superb , followed by a seriously lovely flat iron steak which I believe is started in a Bain Marie then finished on the grill, flavoursome and melting, still plenty of pink. The hake was equally well cooked. The primitivowas mellow and full of mouth filling flavour. At £32 for three courses or £38 for four it's not cheap, but totally worthwhile for the cooking, the views are not bad either.A long way from the town's Cabin bar as was.Find it and go!

Everything was excellent, from the warm welcome we received to the highest quality of ingredients superbly cooked and beautifully presented ably matched by the friendly and professional service provided by the front of house staff. All the items on the menu chosen by our party earned top marks for flavour and texture. There was also an extensive wine list from which to choose the ideal liquid accompaniment for your choice of food with expert advice being available from a knowledgeable sommelier.Anyone thinking of dining here must realise they are going to be eating at a top end restaurant where there is a limited menu on offer with the main course based predominantly on fish dishes. The prices reflect the quality of the whole dining experience but, that said, we all agreed that it was good value for money and we are looking forward to our next visit. The location is also fantastic overlooking the harbour and the Firth of Forth. However, the car park is quite small but there is street parking close by so you should not have more than a short stroll to the restaurant. There is a cosy bar awaiting your arrival where you can enjoy a pre dinner drink before being shown to your table if you wish.

Except for the wine, wonderful meal, great service, nice ambience, and would thoroughly recommend. Will definitely be back. But will not be ordering the wine from Lebanon which tasted OK for first glasses, then became increasingly cloudy and huge amounts of sediment in the bottle. Perhaps it should have been decanted? But I would expect a restaurant of this calibre to serve a wine properly.

This is a quaint little restaurant offering great views over the Forth with a cozy little snug bar. The lunch menu is a little bit restrictive but imaginative. My smoked salmon starter with salmon mousse, pickled Japanese enoki mushrooms, popped wild rice and crispy skin was to die for as was my intermediary course of twice baked cheese souffle. (Wish I could do a souffle like that). I was slightly disappointed in the main of halibut on a bed of curried puy lentils & peas as I felt that the dhal needed a bit more curry flavour. But the fish was cooked to perfection. My partner's hake on chorizo butter beans lacked the punch of spicy chorizo but, again, highlighted the fish.

For a special treat, take yourself out to St. Monans and enjoy this charming waterfront restaurant with outstanding food. It's high end, meticulously prepared food, served in a friendly, unpretentious manner. We had the full tasting menu (with beer instead of wine), and every item was delicious as well as beautifully presented. The pea panna cotta and the cheese souffle were dairy dreams, and I think the haddock I had was the most perfectly seasoned (and cooked) piece of fish I've ever eaten. I am always surprised at how many higher end places still seem afraid of the salt shaker. The tasting menu was FUN as well as delicious; we couldn't wait to see what came next, and it never disappointed--great tasting food that looked like modern art. It was a scrumptious, entertaining evening. Highly recommend.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

When you visit a restaurant with great expectation there is nothing more crushing to be disappointed.I visited with a group of friends early May as we were staying in St Monans so The Craig Miller restaurant was a natural choice for the special night of the weekend. The whole experience has to work i.e. great food and relaxed knowledgeable but unobstrusive service. It was awkward at best with no one with enough experience front of house to charm and engage save for the Somelie who knows his stuff but needs support from a quality host. The youngsters serving did their best but that’s not good enough if you aspire to present your self as high end cuisine. The individual courses were of good quality and the crusted halibut was a highlight so it’s clear that the chef/patron can cook but it comes over as self indulgence. The whole package has to work and it doesn’t. To be better the restaurant has to put the customer at the centre it’s not enough to produce great food it has to be accompanied by genuine, relaxed quality service where you want to stay , return , spend more and recommend to friends. If the owner wants to show off his culinery expertise then do it at home. If he genuinely wants to run a restaurant that has months of bookings in advance and is revered by customers then loosening of the restrictive land or sea menu is essential as is investment i.e. pay for a quality front of house team. Go visit Tom Kitchin’s The Kitchin in Edinburgh and take on board the service, the care and the overall experience and aspire to reach those benchmarks. Lastly a cheese soufflé is not a cheese course, that’s Brie, dripping Cambasola, Rocquefort or a Stinky Blue Stilton! So in summary if you are staying in St Monans try the East Pier Smoke House or take a walk along the stunning coastal path to the Ship or Nineteenth hole at Elie or even the Pavilion for a better experience unless of course Craig Miller Restaurant takes on board constructive advice, Regards Ken Scott

Whenever my wife and I are visiting friends in St. Monans we dine in this excellent restaurant. As one would expect seafood is one of their specialities. The freshly prepared and very tasty Halibut is my usual selection. A fine selection of beers and wines are on offer. Service is good and prices are reasonable. Should you be in St. Monans on vacation or for any other reason, I recommend that you dine in this splendid restaurant.

Lunch for four will very fresh brill and halibut. The staff were excellent and guided us on to a fantastic red wine from Puglia, Italy. This is a cracking find. The restaurant is right on the seafront with views straight across to North Berwick.

Great service, cocktails and meal. Excellent wine pairings and an obvious passion from the sommelier. The souffle was a highlight again.

From the moment we entered the front door at Craig Millar's we were treated to a very special experience. The restaurant manager came forward to greet us warmly and two waitresses stood neatly in line alongside to take our coats, with another leading us through to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. There, the friendly bartender shared his detailed knowledge of cocktails to ensure that my wife found something she'd like but hadn't tried before. When we moved forward to the dining room overlooking the sea, I was pleased to note that the tables were well spaced to give some privacy of conversation. The menu was well thought out with a good balance of choices and everything was cooked to perfection. The pace of delivery was also well-judged; we were not at all rushed but at the same time didn't have to wait long between courses with a four course dinner (preceded by a bar drink) taking 2.5 hours. All felt very relaxed and the waitresses were courteous and attentive. Importantly, the quality of the food was exceptional - I understand that Craig Millar's is currently being assessed for a Michelin star, something it richly deserves if compared with existing Michelin restaurants. A big thanks to Craig, his wife and young staff for a great evening!

We booked for a taster menu and we were able to mix and match meat/fish. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and explained each of the courses. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine and his recommendations were much appreciated. The standard of the food and its presentation was exceptional every mouthful bursting with flavour. The location of the restaurant must also be a big plus so close to the seas edge. Thank you for a memorable night

Fantastic 4 course lunch with family between Christmas and New year. The view from our table was breathtaking (photo attached). I could happily have sat and taken in the view in silence for 2 hours! Partner really enjoyed his Octopus terrine starter (I didn't have a starter). Isle of Mull cheddar souffle was absolutely delightful! Really delicious, soft, melt-in-the-mouth ox cheek main course and who can go wrong with chocolate fondant? Many, actually, but this was super! Excellent value at £34 for 4 courses. Nice decor, service unobtrusive. Will be back for sure!

We chose Craig Miller's for my Father in Laws big birthday and had a truely amazing dining experience, From the superb food, friendly and attentive staff to the spectacular views. We were a party of 10 with an age range from 6 years to 70years, and we where seated in a private area with a spectacular view of the harbour. I am lactose intolerent and find that this can be a problem with some restaurants but not here. The staff took me through the menu and discussed each of the individual tweeks that could be made to most of the dishes and the desert menu and made me feel like my intolerance wasn't any issue and that my experience and enjoyment was extremely important to them. I also had my six year old daugher with us and the staff where equally attentive to her as they where with the adults, even asking her how she enjoyed her meal. She asked about the wildlife and the waiter told her she could see dolphins and seals. Even though there is no kids menu, the chef accommodated her giving her haddock and potatoes which she enjoyed clearing her plate. Well worth a visit

Recently had a fabulous meal in Craig Millar to celebrate my 60th birthday. Tasting menus were superb with choice of "Land" or "Sea". $ or 5 courses but it is possible to mix and match. Highlight for me was the Octopus Terrine. Superb service from all of the staff. Will definitely return in the summer to enjoy the views and the food.

On a wild, stormy afternoon we turned up at Craig Millar - fantastic sea views with the waves breaching the harbour walls in spectacular fashion. The food was definitely of Michelin star standard, which we expected - but the staff were the surprise of the day. Instead of simply ordering, eating, paying the bill and leaving - we did not want our lunch to end! The fascinating knowledge of premium, collectable whiskies Harry and James hinted at, led us into the bar and how impressed we were at their knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for enhancing our Craig Millar experience. I have to say, Craig should congratulate his staff on their customer relations - once they realised that we were also passionate about whisky, they pulled out all the stops and we had one of the best afternoons - drinking house cocktails and rare whisky, nosing and discussing the intricacies of spectacular malts and more - they certainly gave us a day to remember.

What can I say about this p,ace that’s not already been said. We have tried to book here on many occasions, but unsuccessful. We managed a lunch today though. We were made to feel so welcome on arrival, we were escorted to the lovely wee bar, which is full of character. Staff were very helpful and friendly, I personally feel they have the personal touch, not pretentious in any way which you find in most Michelin star restaurants. Food was excellent and on par with many Michelin star restaurants we have visited. Cheese soufflé was so much better than Tom Kitchins, and his is good. Overall a wonderful dining experience with great food and excellent staff. We can’t wait to return.
