Stopped off for refreshments and found it’s a lovely little tearoom. The staff were attentive and friendly! We ordered coffee/teas, and scones, and it came pretty quickly! Stayed and had a catch up with a friend, and didn’t feel rushed! They have a gift shop and had a mooch!!

We stayed in the self catering part of School House Cottage which was delightfully furnished, very comfortable, scrupulously clean and well appointed and included a welcoming tray of fresh bread, butter, jam and eggs. Due to covid restrictions we elected to have two evening meals delivered by a local chef, Mark Westaby, and they proved to be of exceptional restaurant quality. The bed in particular was extremely comfortable and most welcome after long walks with our dog over the Moors. There was also a pretty little garden area adjacent to the cottage which was well maintained.

Friendly tea rooms and B & B. Stayed here in July for a night in order to visit the Black Swan at Oldstead. We walked back from the restaurant, having left the car there and it took us 40 minutes - a lovely walk for a fine summer evening after a large meal. The roads from Oldstead are very quiet. The B & B has recently been been taken over by the owner of a home interiors shop in the village. She is very friendly and welcoming and there was a relaxed atmosphere at the place. The two shower rooms down the corridor were clean and modern. There is a little traffic noise from the road but this dwindles to almost nothing at night. Slept well in the kingsize bed. We would return.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Arrived Friday morning after arranging to meet 4other couples there for coffee, ( they had never been and we wanted to introduce them to some new tea rooms) . We had checked the web site which confirmed the tea rooms open and travelled from Ponterract and Wakefield an hours drive away to meet before going on somewhere else for lunch and an overnight stay. Imagine our dismay to find a closed sign on the door and building works taking place!!!!! Would it have been TOO much trouble to post on your web site that you were. CLOSED?? Fortunately the Falconberg Hotel,in the same village were very accommodating and we had a lovey coffee and biscuits there. I would fully recommend this Hotel, and urge others not to assume this tea rooms is open when it says it is !!

When 9 of us descended on this tea room shortly after 10.30 am looking for a cuppa having just exited our holiday accommodation in nearby Birdforth we were met with welcoming smiles. Our orders for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes were taken and delivered promptly. The tea room has cheerful oil cloth table coverings and lots of character and there is a lovely garden at the rear set with more tables if you prefer alfresco eating and the weather obliges. One of our party also had a delicious panini and the lunchtime menu was very tempting, including a locally made steak pie and 'Yorkshire caviar' (mushy peas). I only hope we can return to the area in the not too distant future when we shall be sure to re-visit this lovely spot in its equally lovely village.
