Courtyard Cafe at the Kirkstyle in South Lanarkshire

Fantastic assist with retrieval of luggage from Glasgow Airport without added cost done by owner and son.

We stayed at the Kirkstyle as we were attending a wedding at the Cornhill Castle nearby. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast every morning was delicious. A special big thank you to Eddie the Manager who went out of his way to help us with a medical emergency, so kind and so helpful.

Booked for one night stay, centre if Biggar very handy.Double room medium size King bed. Roomhas all amenities, heating very warm good radiator. Good bathroom and shower all very clean. Not luxury but adequate for price. People having to walk through breakfast area from outside to access room's door opening and closing constantly.

What a find! We randomly came across their sign. It's not very obvious so look out for it! Loads of options. Very tasty food and the cakes looked delicious. Great service, spotless, spacious. GO HERE

Waited to be seated on entering at sign as requested for several minutes then moved into cafe and after a few more minutes was welcomed by younger member of staff . We asked to sit outside in sun and was shown outside and given menus. After several minutes and ready to order the table next to ours gave their order to an older waitress but we were ignored . I got up and went to order at the counter. The same older waitress did not smile apologise or offer an explanation why our order was not taken when she took the adjoining table and told me to return to our table. It was not at all busy so we left and would not return despite the reviews. We went to the Aroma Cafe up the road which was very welcoming and delicious. Very disappointed at the Kirkstyle

Been a few times in Biggar and first time we came across this place and I must say anytime we are back in Biggar we will certainly be first place we head for. It was very busy and we were a bit concerned as we only wanted Lattes. The members of staff around made us very welcome and were very happy to accommodate us. The Latte’s we had were the best we have had for a long time. All aspect’s of these premises exceptionally clean and as stated again would like to thank them for making us welcome. Highly recommended to give it a try. Thank you

A good choice as just arrived in Biggar and was looking for a lunch bite. Opted for the jacket potato and tuna mayo sandwich, with both arrived quickly and were good portions. Warm fruit and plain scone with jam and cream to finish with coffee. Left feeling full and would definitely recommend.

The cafe is based in the Kirkstyle Hotel, accessed down a lane off the High Street and for this reason it can be a bit quieter if elsewhere in the town is busy. There is an outdoor seating area for those days when the weather permits - not so on our recent visit. The opening hours are limited so best to check in advance. I thought the menu had a few different options in addition to trusted favourites. However we were looking for something simple and my wife chose a baked potato with Coronation chicken and I had a Brie & Cranberry Panini, both served with a salad garnish and crisps. My wife thought, with hindsight, the Coronation chicken was overly creamy which wasn’t agreeable with her constitution. The Panini wasn’t exactly piping hot but it tasted fine. We added two cups of Americano coffee and two Flat White coffees (the coffee is good but not large) and I had a fruit scone with jam. The overall cost was just under £25. Staff were pleasant and efficient in our experience. The toilet was well maintained.

Great menu choices. I had the halloumi burger on ciabatta served with chips and salad. It was delicious. The biscoffi milkshake was also delicious. Coffee and fruit scones were good. Overall, very good value for money. Pleasant, efficient service. We sat in the sun filled courtyard, a great little sun trap and very pretty. Will be calling in again when next in Biggar! Definitely worth a visit!

It was ideal for what we needed. Great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was fab, very tasty and well presented. I'd definitely stay here again

A great wee hotel with smashin food and a terriffic breakfast.

Really nice hotel. Stayed in room 8 Which is on the ground floor. Has one super king size bed and a normal kind size bed. Nice seating area with table in the window. Fridge/kettle and large TV. Really good shower. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly.

Duty manager in charge when we checked in Thursday was class very friendly and polite definitely be back great service. Nice rooms up for wedding party couldn't have treated us any better thanks

Excellent. Last minute booking due my car breaking down. Staff were very helpful and even suggested a nearby garage to gwt me back on the road. Clean room, large screen tv, fridge and all round lobely little on the High street in Biggar. Couldnt have asked for anymore. Thumbs up from me.

Should have stayed tonight but weather awful and roads dangerous. Despite having a nonrefundable rate. There was absolutely no problem changing the booking until next week. In fact the young lady I spoke to was so kind and caring. Looking forward to Monday. Definitely 5 star service already.

This is a lovely place to stay. This is the second time we have stayed, and we will be returning again.

Stayed here on 30 September 21 as we were at a wedding at Cornhill Castle. It was really close to venue and checkin the staff has taxi numbers ready for us, nothing was a problem for them. Could not rate it highly enough, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good and cooked to order. Room was immaculately clean and had every thing you needed. So a big thumbs up

Stayed for a night following a wedding at Cornhill Castle and was really impressed. Spacious room, very comfortable bed, and great little details like extra pillows in the room, chilled water and milk in the fridge and biscuits for tea/coffee - something that isn't a given in big chain hotels. Varied choices for breakfast and very tasty + the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Great wee brunch. My daughter loved her kids plate, i had eggs Benedict and banoffee waffles, wife was pleased with her roll. 2 coffees and an apple juice £23 not bad at all will definitely be back!

Nice comfortable rooms, well appointed even though the wash basin in Room 1 won't hold any water. No seal on plug! Breakfast choice excellent. No evening meals available but discount available at Crown Inn opposite for guests of Kirkstyle. Good secure bike storage with track pump, work stand and MTB tubes available.

We only had lunch but it was very good. I had the soup and toastie, which were excellent and easily the best value. The jacket potato and chicken wrap were also highly recommended.

Just back from an over night stay we booked here for attending a venue near by for a family wedding. The place is lovely very clean lovely wee terrace area to sit out in. Breakfast was fab! Staff were all very helpful and attentive. Thankyou! Lovely wee shops right at the front of you. Perfect..

The room was spacious, warm and exceptionally clean, lovely ensuite shower room, TV, free WiFi and even a mini fridge, the bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff were so friendly, helpful and professional in every way nothing was too much trouble for them. The Covid 19 rules were strictly adhered to, I enjoyed 5 nights at the Kirkstyle and would have no hesitation in staying again.

This was my first visit but won't be my last. My niece works in the hospitality industry and said ALL Covid measures were in place. There were 3 of us and we had a mixture of brunch and lunch from the menu and we all enjoyed everything we ate. I especially enjoyed the special orange hot chocolate drink. The staff were very friendly and I will happily return.

Stayed at the Kirkstyle before and decided to stop here overnight on my way to Inverness. Hotel had just reopened on Friday, due to COVID. Excellent communication from the Hotel on their COVID policies. Met at reception, great measures in place for guests. Lovely ground floor room, Room 6. Really comfortable bed and clean room. Staff are so helpful, pre-booked a table at the local Crown Inn. Sadly had to leave before breakfast, so couldn’t have one of their fabulous full Scottish breakfasts. Another great stay here. Will be back, thank you.

Booked in for a night while we picked up the caravan wasn't expecting much as it was last minute but the review's were good and they weren't wrong what a little gem very comfortable room, quite, clean, friendly staff and a lovely breakfast worth every penny shame it wasn't for longer

Can't praise the staff enough. We were welcomed into their 'home ' with such warmth, fabulous. Even after the New Year celebrations, breakfast served with a smile. And what breakfasts we had. All freshly cooked with local ingredients, just could not fault the place. The room clean and modern, would highly recommend.

Lovely cafe for a relaxing lunch. Good variety of dishes on the menu to suit any taste. Decor is delightful. The staff are very helpful and friendly. My coronation chicken panini was very tasty and served with a lovely dressed salad and crisps. The cakes are really lovely and the only difficulty that I had was choosing which one to order.

Visited for breakfast and was not disappointed.Good menu with a nice varied choice. Opted for the full Scottish which was freshly cooked and excellent coffee. The weekend we visited they had a special offer on which was pay for one full Scottish and get your other at half price. Great but I wouldn't have grudged the price for two. Will definitely go again if we pass through this way again.

Have made several visits to the courtyard cafe, both for coffee & cake and lunch. The cafe is quite small which gives it a quaint feel and the menu changes relatively frequently meaning there is often new options available (plenty veggie, vegan & gf choices too)! So far I have thoroughly enjoyed everything ordered from the cafe, all food tastes genuinely fresh, homemade and care is taken in the presentation. I would especially recommend their bounty slice (it has become a favourite) although all of their traybakes & cakes look very tasty! Coffee is very good too. Definitely worth a visit if passing through Biggar - there’s a nice seating area outside too (if weather is good of course!!)

I was so impressed with this cafe and how much variety it provided to suit everyone’s food taste. It had a wide range of choice to suit my gluten free diet. I look forward to visit here again when I next visit family

This has a good range of snacks including vegetarian and also decent home baking. The staff are pleasant and the cafe is comfortable and well lit, has a relaxing ambience.

Nice place to grab some lunch with my favourite being the French toast sandwich. Coffee is fantastic and the service is good. Nice selection of cakes and fresh made scones. Only thing I would say is the young staff might need a lesson in how to count and calculate the final bill as they nearly under charged us by £15. Nice relaxing setting and a regular place to go for coffee and lunch.

Absolutely amazing place, the rooms are perfect for a little getaway and very affordable. They have a cafe on sight but don't do dinner (evening meal) but.... There are plenty of options around Biggar where you can eat. The rooms are very modern and have everything you need. The Baths are massive (we stayed in room 1.) I would highly recommend staying here!! Keep up the good work Kirkstyle

The Courtyard Café is a lovely place, open to non-residents. Friendly staff. Provided a great Afternoon Tea, including a gluten-free option and a magnificent birthday cake.

We’ve stayed here a few times and the staff are so friendly and attentive. The rooms are really nice and modern, the breakfast is great and location is perfect.

Tucked behind the hotel frontage, the Courtyard Cafe is a great spot for a light meal. It is secluded and quiet with both indoor and outdoor space. Lunch was freshly prepared and tasty, and service was prompt, cheerful and helpful. Smoothies and milkshakes are a feature. Cakes looked absolutely delicious. If we lived nearer we'd definitely go again.

Lovely hotel.. The rooms are spacious and smach bang in the centre of town. To make things better, you get a choice of hot complimentary breakfasts which are amazing! Very nice rooms, helpful staff and lovely place.

Beautiful, clean and very well managed. Staff were above average and very well informed regarding the local area. Breakfast was excellent. Stayed for 4 nights, wish it could have been longer. Will definitely be back.

Stopped in for a breakfast and we ordered 1 Full Scottish Breakfast and 1 Vegetarian Breakfast and 2 coffees. The waitress returned to say there was no veggie haggis for the Vegetarian Breakfast that morning but they would swap in a veggie sausage instead which seemed fair enough. She then returned to say they had no veggie sausage and apologised. We ended up with a Full Scottish Breakfast and a Full Scottish Breakfast without the haggis, Black pudding, sausage and bacon.Service was slow enough to allow us to finish our coffee and order another when our food arrived. The food was good; haggis a wee bit moist, Black pudding excellent, tatie scone very nice, but the lack of items on the veggie breakfast was very disappointing - you can’t remove meat items from a dish and claim it to be a vegetarian dish. The tomato was barely cooked and quite awful.The courtyard was very nice and caught the morning sun very well giving us a lovely al-fresco breakfast. Service was very good, staff were very pleasant and if it had been later and we’d popped in for coffee and cake this probably would have been a better review.

stopped off in biggar for lunch went in here and the food was lovely, staff very polite and friendly ,would highly recommend and will definately return.

I suggested an addition to their menu. Next time I visited it had been added. Also, they allow well behaved dogs. It's a great place!

I've stopped here several times recently when out cycling, just of the main road the courtyard is perfect on a hot day, shaded and somewhere to park the bike. Staff friendly and efficient, good breakfast and a nice selection of cakes. I will be back

I stopped in here for a drink and a nibble. I had been told that you could sit outside and have a cigarette. Since it was a nice day I thought that I would give it a try. I had the hot chocolate which was hot but not quite as hot as I had asked it to be. I also had a cheese scone which appeared to have been microwaved - so I assumed that it wasn't freshly baked that day - and this was a bit chewy and doughy presumable from the microwaving. Service was OK, waitress friendly and cheerful enough but there really isn't anything special about this place. On the other hand there wasn't really anything wrong with the place either.

One of the best hotels we have been to in a long time . The staff ,food and the room was first class, We will go again soon.

We have lunch here as often as possible. The staff is helpful and friendly. One little niggle, not enough variety of scones! Apart from that, this cafe is great!

We were staying in the Kirkstone Hotel and were delighted to discover this characterful cafe. Sitting outside as the weather was so warm, we both had a coffee and I tried the sticky orange and chocolate cake. Ooooh! What a treat, and the coffee was deliciously mellow. All the staff were friendly and efficient and I would highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in Biggar one afternoon.
