We really enjoyed delicious cooked breakfasts. Yummy crisp fried bread and delicious crunchy hash browns, perfect poached egg and great bubble and squeak. The chef seems like a master of the Full English. Lovely omelette too. We will definitely be back

Always a wonderful friendly welcome, Elle remembers the drink I have and within minutes I have, the food Ian cooks is excellent always freshly cooked. I highly recommend this cafe, I have food allergies and both Elle & Ian accommodate these with ease. You will not be disappointed so please visit and see for yourself that customer service is of paramount importance to this lovely cafe.

Reheated bacon and sausage, rancid mushrooms from a filthy frypan, dirty toilets, rude service and a stink of electrical insulation burning.

My husband and I have lived in Bexhill for years and have walked passed the courtyard cafe but have never been inside. We decided to give it ago and my only regret is that we should have done it much much sooner. A first class, warm and friendly service with a smile and a great sense of humour. Delicious, hot food and propery builders tea. My husband and I had a small Veggie breakfast which we both thoroughly enjoyed and a portion of pancakes between us. We will most definitely be back!

Had a delicious breakfast, beautifully cook by such a happy friendly couple . Would highly recommend. Good price , we had the set breakfast Sausage bacon egg mushrooms beans or tomatoes served with hot buttered toast and tea .

We always get great friendly service from Ellie who is very considerate towards childrens needs and goes out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We have set breakfasts and love the fresh bubble and squeak. Ian is a great chef who clearly enjoys keeping his customers happy and makes sure that the kids food is not nuclear hot and is a manageable portion. Best breakfast in Bexhill by far. Can’t wait to get back inside.

Now there are lots of places in Bexhill for a coffee or snack, but this is one of the best and you always get a warm welcome from the owner. There is also a wide choice of dishes and you can get anything from a full blown fry-up to egg on toast and you won't pay a fortune, as the prices are very reasonable.

I have visited here many times and have always had absolutely delicious meals each time. I had the Steak and Stilton pie, my favourite from here, and a friend had a All day breakfast. Cooked to perfection! It is very inviting and friendly here and i love the decor. Absolutely need to try if you want a traditional home cooked meal. Well recommended

Popped in for a breakfast one Tuesday morning. Always believe in supporting a local cafe, pity that there was only one other couple there. A great tasting breakfast,with toast and tea, served promptly and efficiently by a happy smiling waitress. Definitely value for money. Looking at the menu, the deals for a lunch looked very appetising as well. The place looked nice and clean with a welcoming feel about it. A friendly chatty 'bird' helped make a good atmosphere. If I could fault anything, a bit of hygiene care was needed on the condiments. I would recommend this cafe and return as well.

Very friendly and homely cafe. Food is cooked by the chef and is all freshly prepared. Lovely friendly proprietor and a good menu for a small cafe. Toasted sandwich was beautifully presented and tasted great and was plentiful. The place was lovely and we really felt comfortable and st home. Excellent value for money and ticked all the boxes. Also had a delightful outside courtyard , lovely to sit in on a warm afternoon. Would highly recommend it , and you wouldn't be disappointed! Thanks for the experience.

If you want a delicious breakfast you will not be disappointed. The food is good and very reasonably priced. The place is clean and well presented and there is a pleasant garden. However, we were really surprised at the poor service and surly attitude we found there.

You can’t fault the cleanliness and the warm welcome here.Lots of breakfast choice, poached eggs were good, I think they were done in a mould rather than free flow, but nice enough. I didn’t realise they butter the toast first, in future I’ll ask for it to be crispy and butter it myself as it was a bit soggy as buttered hot. Guess that was my fault for not thinking, and they wouldn’t have minded me asking I’m sure.Coffee was good.Garden looked nice, colourful and clean.Dog friendly.

First visit to this cafe... Menu looked yummy, friendly greeting, and the breakfasts we had were great. The table was sticky with sugar spilled on it, had not been properly wiped over, a jug of milk obviously from yesterday by the skin on the top! Was also amongst the condiments. The floor was not clean either, needed a good sweep and mopping. Would go again hoping the cloth and mop had made an appearance.

It was a bright but frosty Friday morning in January and we were at a loose end so we decided to take a drive to Bexhill. It’s a favourite of ours as is the Courtyard Cafe where you can always be sure of a warm, friendly welcome. That Friday was no different. These guys give off a really welcoming vibe from the moment you walk through the door. Service is always excellent and the fixed price Menu of the Day is always great value. We started with an absolutely superb parsnip and leek soup each followed by chilli con carne with rice and home-made beef stew. Warm cafe, warm service, piping hot food! Price with a tea and a coffee? - £23. What’s not to like? You’d not get better food in a posh restaurant at 3 times the price! Brilliant!

They can be friendly but if they are familiar with your face can be quite rude other than that a very nice place to be

I visited here a few times whilst I was heavily pregnant and unable to cook breakfast but had a craving for fried bread! It’s one of the few places in Bexhill that opens early for breakfast and that’s how we stumbled across it.

We’re not exactly regulars at the Courtyard Cafe. Regulars here are people who eat there several times a week. We tend to go there maybe monthly when we pick a nice sunny day to enjoy the prom in Bexhill and enjoy a nice, tasty, great value for money lunch at the Courtyard.

This is a great cafe to visit, whether you want one of their fabulous breakfasts (a big choice), a lunch (again, a really good selection on offer and every week they have specials which change so always different options) or a quick coffee and cake.

As a local I’m always popping in the courtyard, and it’s brilliant.

This is my new favourite place to go with my mum for lunch. Fantastic food which we can find no fault with. Great value, and very friendly staff. Highly recommended

Stopped for lunch at approx 12.50. Ordered 2 banana milkshakes but they had run out! After about 25 mins waiting we asked if we could order but were told we had to wait another 10 mins as they were busy and chef was snowed under. Three more tables filled. One table asked another waitress if she could take their order and she said she'd be back.

We never got to eat the food! It was quite busy but several spare tables. The waitress took our drinks order after 5 minutes but told us they only had 2 individual milkshakes left out of the 3 flavours available which seemed rather strange so we had one milkshake and a coffee.

What a wonderful find, I happened upon this wonderful food cafe after walking around getting to know the area, there a quite a few places to have coffee, cakes and meals but not like this one.

This is the first time we have had lunch here , there were three of us and we all had different meals each one was perfect I must say I had the steak pie with veg and mashed potatos the gravey was lovely very unusual for me but I cleared my plate. We also had breakfast on our last day it was perfect even though I had the small one it lasted me all day we will certainly go back again .

We simply L-O-V-E the Courtyard Cafe, visiting here for lunch so often now that we actually get recognised! Well, as we had an old boy in finishing off decorating our living room, we decided to disappear to Bexhill really early for us, to do some shopping and enjoy the sunny morning on the beach. After doing the essential shopping bit, we decided to breakfast at the Courtyard Cafe, a delight we had so far not managed to achieve. I ordered the MEGA.....a 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 egg, 2 hash browns, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, mushrooms, fried bread and toast and butter costing an amazing £8.95. My wife was far more restrained with her sausage sandwich on brown bread. 2 lovely white coffees to wash it all down. Total bill about £17 I think.....but little did the bill matter. I have now found the cafe serving the breakfast par excellence! This really was SIMPLY THE BEST. All beautifully presented on a massive square plate (it needed to be massive to accommodate this MEGA breakfast). The sausages were really superb which is often what sorts out the men from the boys. Not fatty and made of some indistinguishable beast but rather a tasty, substantial sausage that had a real meaty texture. My praise for whoever sources these and I’d love to know where they’re from so I can buy some and cook them at home. The MEGA is not only the tastiest but also the most substantial breakfast I’ve ever known. Now I was waxing lyrical about the Kitchen in Thorpeness that I wrote about last week. That was a SUPERB breakfast 99/100, a real ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ feast of a meal. But it was £10.95.......and at the Courtyard Cafe the MEGA is £8.95. So that’s gotta be 99.99/100 and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕➕➕. The staff here are really friendly, nothing is too much. The service is prompt and efficient and the coffee really very very good. And the price.....what more could you ask? This was a breakfast to go back and experience again and again. I can’t wait for the curtain shop to ring us and tell us our curtains are ready for collection. I’ll be outside revving the engine waiting for my wife to catch up and get in. I’ll have to watch my speed down the A21 or I’ll get a ticket..... So if you want the breakfast that now beats them all, on all levels, call by the Courtyard Cafe next time you’re in Bexhill and I can guarantee that you’ll be amazed,astounded, thrilled to bits, in rapture over the incredibly generous serving..........enough.... just try it. Satisfaction GUARANTEED!

We went (a group of 6) for lunch on a Friday. Warm welcome, prompt service. A great menu with everything from a snack to light bites and bigger dishes. We opted for “2 courses for £7.95” - I had Roast Chicken as my main. It was a plump, juicy chicken breast with veg and crispy roast potatoes.... my wife had the veggie burger which she said was great. We shared a pud (apple crumble and custard) and glad we did - it was enormous..... service is friendly and super efficient. The hosts are genuinely pleased to see you and make you feel very welcome. The food is “proper home cooked”.... and at a price point that you can’t help but be impressed.

We are regular visitors to Bexhill on sunny days, taking an opportunity to enjoy the sea air along the prom, do a bit of shopping and grab a bit of lunch out. Ah those simple pleasures! Bexhill has loads of good places that we’ve eaten at over the past few years but, not wishing to be predictable, we decided to try the Courtyard Cafe in Western Road. Reviews have been on the whole good though there were recent comments about staff abruptness. We stopped by at about 1pm and were asked to find a table and they’d come to us to take our order. We perused the menu, including a very attractive set lunch menu for £7.95 for 2 courses or £9.95 for 3. - excellent value. But I opted for a chilli con carne jacket potato and my wife chilli con carne with rice. The waitress came after a few minutes, took our order and appeared again with our drinks a few minutes later. She was polite, helpful (offering to top up my pot of tea for one when I was ready) and efficient. The food was very good, tasty and good quality for the price. When we’d finished our mains, she collected our plates and asked politely if we’d like sweets and laughed when we said we’d love to but won’t! The bill for the food, a pot of tea and an ice-cold Diet Coke came to £15.15 which is excellent. This place is, after all, a cafe and not a restaurant. It’s ideal for quick, home-cooked lunchtime grub. It’s not the sort of place that offers Steak Diane or flambes at your table! Good, honest, tasty food at reasonable prices served quickly and efficiently and with a smile.

The food was good but the rest wasn't. The waitress approached me practically the second I sat down and asked what I wanted to order, I hadn't had a chance to look at the menu! She came back a second time only a couple of minutes later when I was obviously still reading the menu. The knife was filthy. The sign outside said 'all

The days of finding a tuna baguette for a healthy snack are almost impossible until I stumbled on this little gem of a café. Tuna baguette, red onion and salad cream was available from fresh. Absolutely wonderful for me as my favourite. Coffee great. Staff very friendly, food lovely, surroundings a bit tight with a couple of tables but we were the only 2 in at that point so all well.

Now under new management, with a friendly staff team who greet you on arrival and give you time to settle at the table before getting your order. I had a cheese and pickle sandwich which was freshly made to order; a choice of brown or white bread. The granary style bread was delicious, the cheese tasty, but rather too much pickle for my taste. Bread was a decent sized slice (more builders than afternoon tea) and it was washed down with a generous pot of tea.
