Really nice little gem in York. The food was delicious, served fast and the service was good. I highly recommend this place.

Lemongrass and chicken rice are 2 die for, I went der twice during my visit to York, ambience is very warm and the staff is also very friendly, dogs are allowed

Stopped here when in York for the weekend and ambling around for somewhere to eat. It was not really atmospheric as it is January, quiet and we were the only people seated upstairs. However the food was fantastic. We ordered several starters and main courses for us to share. We ended up ordering a few more dishes as it was really tasty and the service was nice and friendly.

Terrible experience went in at 6.15pm Saturday place was freezing. They put on another electric heater. No atmosphere at all two other people in the place. Ordered food lamb curry x2 and Chicken curry for three of us. The curry was terrible watery sauce little flavour and around 6 pieces of the cheapest toughest flavour less lamb. Not edible at all the worst meal I have had in years. Send back no quibbles refunded offered another dish but declined £14 for total rubbish. The chicken was poor quality meat the other lamb curry went back too. Waste of money and time don’t be fooled. Left hungry and dissatisfied all 3 of us. NEVER AGAIN.

We visited between Christmas & New Year. The restaurant is quite small and the staff are really friendly. The majority of the menu is gluten free which is great for coeliacs like me. We had a selection of fried squid, spring rolls and summer rolls for starters. All 3 were delicious. For our mains we had a beef stir fry, chicken curry and a stir fried beef noodle dish. We really enjoyed all of them. Unfortunately I didn’t have room for a Vietnamese coffee. It’s a pity we live so far away or else this would be my go to place. I noticed whilst we were there the restaurant also does Deliveroo take always!

Very enjoyable dinner at this friendly place. There was a lot of experience of Thai food in our diverse group including an ex-resident of Bangkok. Everyone was very happy with the dishes we ordered. Just go.

Big let down. The chef played his part and the food was fine but the whole experience was completely spoiled by the service. The 2 waitresses were just not interested in being there and for pretty much the whole time they were both looking at the phones on the front counter and drinking coke - what an earth does this say to the customers in the restaurant. We couldn't even get there attention for some water, or the bill so had to get up and ask. I have to blame the owner as these young adults are just not being managed at all. There was simply zero attention to detail & no atmosphere (where were the Christmas decorations!) My bottle of beer had been pre-poured and served quite flat , both my daughters coke had no ice or lemon. Will definitely not be going back and I suspect by the some of the comments we overheard from the other customers - they wont be going back either.

The place is nice and cosy. Portions are huge (good value for money). The menu has a lot of vegan options. Flavours are very original and unusual and we loved trying them. The dishes were a little too heavy. The service was a little off: the waitress seemed annoyed and they made a mistake with our order. On the other hand they quickly changed it when we told them.

We went here last year and thought the food was good and the owner lady was really friendly. We tried phở xào and bánh xèo and were surprised at how good it was. We don't live in York and this year we went to York to visit again and surely remember this place and went it again. We had spring rolls, fried rice and stir fry glass noodles and the food was really good. We chat to the owner for a while and she was lovely. Highly recommend this place. Price might be high for some but the quantity is good.

We pooped in here for lunch, after a day in York. The atmosphere was excellent, service really good, and food was great! We needed a gluten, dairy, and egg free option, and it was not a problem here. Our front of house was hpful, patient, and very efficient! We are happy to return to this place on another visit, and happy to recommend! Thank you for a really good lunch!

A small oasis of calm in bustling central York, with good service and relaxing music. The food was delicious and my stir-fried lemongrass chicken was perfect for lunch. If you need a break from the crowds of tourists and shoppers, and a delicious lunch, this is the place.

Lovely food and good portion sizes.

Nice small cute place, beef pho is ready within 15mins, you can ask to take away as well like I did. The soup base is so flavourful, I could drink a bucket of it, beef is very tender and well cooked too. The only downside is the noodles, they were stuck together and a bit too soft to my taste.

Needed somewhere to get out of the rain and warm up and stumbled on this place. Ordered a plate of crispy spring rolls and chilli squid to start, both of which were really tasty and fresh. Had a big bowl of beef pho for main, which really hit the spot. The cocktails are really nice too - had the Hoi Mojito, which was lovely. Nice spot!

Delicious food and friendly service. It was very quiet when we went so not much atmosphere but it seemed to the staff like it was unusual. Would definitely go back. The triple cooked pork was a big hit, and the spring rolls were delicious!

Main dishes were really really tasty and Service was fine. Main dishes on the small side, the pork spring roll had hardly any pork in and mainly iceberg lettuce (not good value). The toilets or rather toilet!! was not clean and not a good reflection. And be warned there is a "compulsory " surcharge added to the bill which is written very small at bottom of menu. I don't mind "tipping" but it should be my perogative. Probably won't go again...unfortunate

Had a very nice evening meal here, the Vietnamese menu has some different things on it and we had a very nice meal, staff and owner very friendly. Thought this was good value meal and would recommend.

This is a lovely little Vietnamese restaurant in York. Food is cooked to order and tastes so fresh. I would highly recommend but would advise you to have a starter before your main course if you’re starving. This is a genuine review.

I regularly eat in this lovely little Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime. The food is always excellent, the service is very friendly and the lady takes the time to chat if they are not too busy. There is a downstairs (street level) area and an upstairs. Food arrives in a reasonable time. The location is perfect, a small side street in the centre of York and the ambience is quite country-style with rough wood visible, like we would call 'rustic'. This all adds up to a lovely tasty experience and the price is not too bad although a little high for lunchtime. My favourite dish is the coconut curry with chicken, which is rich in flavour and delicious.

Recommended by friends & visited York for the day so decided to try. Only got some Vietnamese spring roll (veg) to takeaway - limited choice (only veg or pork) but very unique dish & very tasty. Dipping Sauce was also nice. Service friendly, only reason I didn’t give 4 stars was the value for money, feel as though £6.90 for 2 spring roll is steep. Expected more. But probably worth it . Also it was dead and I was only customer

Food was really flavourful and had clearly been made with a fair bit of care/ effort. Good portion size and price was fair.

The food was amazing! We stumbled across it and people from the street recommended us to to go. We ordered the tapas style dishes to share and it was great, plenty of choices! Staff were really nice and friendly too!

Happened upon this place whilst looking for somewhere different to eat whilst on a weekend break with my 3 daughters.. We like to try different cuisines and thought why no! We weren’t disappointed.. We all tried something different and the waiter gave us information on the menu to guide us what to choose.. Very tasty and highly recommend

I really enjoyed the food and the lady working there was very nice. She recognised that we were tourists and recommended some nice places to travel. It’s was not too busy and had a welcoming atmosphere, we were very happy with our experience.

We had a lovely meal here with great food, and clearly fresh ingredients cooked by someone with a real feel for the dishes. However the service was poor - it felt like they were busier than they'd expected and no-one knew what to do. There was not much communication and lots of people standing around together all trying to sort out one problem whilst the rest of the tables tried to catch an eye for something else. Felt like they needed someone in charge.

It is a joke this restaurant. We ordered Bun Cha Nem. Anywhere you order it never go wrong with this beautiful dish. But in this restaurant it was no taste, the meat was not fresh, smelling, few lettuce with a few drop of sweet chilli...

The pho is delicious and almost all of the menu is gluten free! I would recommend commend anyone who likes Asian food to try Coto. We had a lovely meal and spoke with the owner who gave us great tips for a holiday to Vietnam.

Amazing food at good prices. The spring rolls are the best spring rolls I have ever had in my gosh darn life. Accommodates for allergens as I am gluten and dairy intolerant.
