Cote Brasserie - Cardiff Central in Cardiff

Fabulous meal in Coté last night. Great choice of food and drinks.We had the calamari which was tender, sweet and well seasoned and the crab which was light and excellently balanced with red onion cutting through the richness. For mains we had the classic Steak Frites which is a classic for a reason and the poulet Breton which was so flavourful and tender. Wines, Kia Royales and service were all faultless. A great meal

We only stopped for a coffee. We ended up having a coffee but then ordering champagne as a night before pick me up! We were served by Ethan, who was a delight. Professional and polite with a welcoming Welsh warmth. We sat outside and on this occasion we only stopped for drinks, which were excellent. The service was great and all staff welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Cote in central Cardiff is normally excellent, especially for breakfast which is when I usually visit. There's a good range of options for breakfast from the traditional bacon and eggs, to eggs royale and pastries and French breakfast. The staff are usually helpful and friendly. The restaurant opens from 10am which isn't obvious. Most recently I dropped in at 9am, but was greeted by a stroppy member of staff who filled me in about the opening times. I probably would have waited until 10, but didn't like the person's attitude so decided to go next door to another restaurant. It opens at 9, by the way.

Me and my friend went to lunch, we were spoken to as soon as we got to the door and seated with the table already set and the menus ready, the staff were really quick to take our orders and get us our food, food was delicious. Just wanted to say a special thanks to Daisy for making our experience lovely

Had the set menu for lunch, excellent value for money Whitebait, followed by chicken in a cream &mushroom sauce and to end the meal, Eton mess. All courses were delicious. Staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere, thank you. Highly recommend.

Conveniently located on the walk between the train station and the shops. Ended up here on an early visit before we moved to South Wales. Now a trip to Cardiff would not be complete without a break here even when just for a drink. Great location, friendly staff and somewhere just to watch the world go by. Ended up on the same outside table twice within a month. Yesterday, our new Glaswegian staff friend was on fine form. A big shout out to Melissa for, not just picking up my left behind phone, but then locating us down the street and returning it straight away. Many, many thanks.

We just had a light bite but it was very nice and the staff friendly other than the one stroppy French guy. I had the crab and my Vibe the tomato starter both dishes looked stunning and tasted even better.

Everything was more than good, really nice welcoming staff, lovely surroundings, everything spotlessly clean. Best breakfast I've had in similar restaurants in the city centre. I had the full breakfast, my partner had the French breakfast, both equally good and most importantly - really good coffee. Our waitress Melissa got the level of attentiveness just right. Really positive experience.

Amazing food and service at dinner. We had the set menu which was great for options and really good value for money. Service was great as well! Couldn’t recommend more!

Had a Lovely meal with the family for my parents anniversary. All of our meals were absolutely stunning, I had the burger and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! We were served by the lovely Dan who was extremely accommodating and attentive throughout our time at the restaurant. Would 100% recommend and we will be back soon

I want to say well done to the kitchen for the amazing food, last night we had two starts , our mains and dessert. Our amazing experience was posible by David Capek.. excellent service and recommendations. Every time,he checked that we did not miss any detail, my friend she ran out of battery and he provided us to charge the phone in the restaurant without any problem .. He has been very kind, friendly, helpful .. Thank you and definitely we will come back!!!!!!!! Everything was Crème de la crème.

We ate here as the menu looked good, in the end we had the fixed price 2 courses, My husband has the steak and fries, he said it was excellent, I had the chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, again it was excellent. the deserts are great too.

Met up with a friend for lunch in Cote and were seated in the window as requested. Everything seemed Covid compliant and safe and we enjoyed their 2 course Prix Fixe lunchtime deal. I enjoyed the Grilled Asparagus/Poached egg starter and then Steak Frites with some peppercorn sauce (my favourite in Cote). My friend's starter was Pork Terrine but the sourdough with it was rock hard, and inedible without losing some teeth, so we complained but they just gave us free coffees afterwards. Her main of chicken was fine. The staff are always well trained and very polite and helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed our lunch especially after such a long Lockdown in Wales. Cote in the Bay is excellent aswell and somehow feels more French in appearance than the huge Cardiff Central one.

Excellent service, care and attention by the staff. Food was great and covered all the bases for a lunch - It rained too and was a very atmospheric experience sat just outside the restaurant - Will always push to go to this venue!

If you want great food and excellent service, this is the place to be! Had sirloin stake and my partner lamb chops, very nice, perfectly cooked. Staff are very friendly and the ambience is relaxed

Mientras pasaba 3 noches en Cardiff, quería un buen lugar para desayunar. Como era un día cálido y soleado, una zona al aire libre también era buena. Cote Brasserie encajaba perfectamente.Excelente lugar, excelente comida ya un precio razonable también. Dentro y arriba se abre a un maravilloso comedor. Si nos hubiéramos quedado más tiempo, definitivamente habríamos reservado para una cena.Solo busque el cargo por servicio agregado automáticamente, el precio aumenta un poco. Tal vez el precio en consecuencia y reduzca el cargo por servicio.

Cardiff es quizás ahora una de las ciudades más vibrantes y emocionantes de Gran Bretaña con tantas inversiones en los últimos años. Histórico y moderno al mismo tiempo. y una ciudad universitaria con tres universidades así como un conservatorio con instalaciones de última generación y cerca del mar. Un montón de cafés y bares que durante estos tiempos de Covid han hecho todo lo posible por cumplir con las normas de distanciamiento social e higiene. Inusualmente, este es el tercer empate en las últimas dos semanas que he estado en un Cote y debo decir que este se destacó debido a que su personal fue de primera clase, amable y servicial. Muy bien dirigido y el personal parecía realmente feliz. Altos estándares de higiene y comida bien presentada y cocinada. Lo siento, no vivo allí, pero espero volver cerca de Navidad, se permiten las restricciones de Covid.

Con una comida excelente y un servicio excelente desde el momento en que llegamos hasta el momento en que nos fuimos, ¡simplemente no podríamos haber disfrutado más de nuestra experiencia gastronómica! El restaurante y las instalaciones estaban escrupulosamente limpios y las mesas bien espaciadas. Pedimos dos filetes y un pollo asado con guarniciones y tres postres. Los bistecs estaban cocinados EXACTAMENTE bien y sazonados a la perfección. Con un restaurante tranquilo, parecía como si tuviéramos nuestros propios chefs personales altamente capacitados y camareros para la noche. Los postres y una copa de vino se sumaron a la maravillosa experiencia. ¡Literalmente no podría haber estado más feliz! Gracias Cote.

Lugar agradable pero concurrido en el centro de Cardiff, sentado afuera para disfrutar del aire fresco. Buen menú, buena comida, pero intentaron cobrarnos de más por una suma de 9 GBP. ! El camarero, que tenía la personalidad de ser probablemente gerente, retrocedió rápidamente cuando nos negamos a pagar esa cantidad incorrecta y sacó la cantidad correcta después de que indicamos qué comidas y bebidas teníamos. ¡Una mejilla real y un día más húmedo!

Cote en Cardiff siempre ha sido uno de los restaurantes favoritos de mi pareja y yo. Comida de buena calidad a precios razonables. Una de las cosas que extrañamos durante la crisis de Covid - 19. Me sorprendió descubrir una opción Cote at Home donde una selección de sus comidas estaba disponible para entrega a domicilio. Pedimos una comida con ellos, junto con una selección de carnes de su carnicería. Gran éxito y un regalo maravilloso para nosotros. Como beneficio adicional, el medallón de cerdo de la carnicería fue uno de los mejores trozos de cerdo que he probado en mi vida. Realmente recomiendo este servicio como un regalo especial.

I enjoyed breakfast with some of my colleagues before we started work. The staff were attentive and helpful but left us to enjoy our food. We all had different things, from full breakfasts to pastries to bacon baguettes, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. Will definitely be returning.

I was so very happy with the beautiful food we ate today at the Cote in Cardiff.A Crisp kir royale aperitif, followed by good crevette salad, and a crotin well served with Walnut and crunchy apple. This is food lovingly presented and served and as good as anything you will eat in la Belle France. We drank a smooth easy drinking Merlot as we feasted on veal escalope and I had the haddock, it was served so lovely and hot it was a joy to burn my mouth on it. I also adore the tomato salad so delicious. The service we received was impeccable throughout so I have no hesitation in recommendinh this restaurant as one of the top 50 in Cardiff. Bon appetit.!

We were a party of 8 and had wonderful service. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food too. We've recommended Cote to many people since. There are often special offers so look out for these - e.g. free cocktails! Hope to visit again soon.

The food was good, although portions were on the small size. I ordered a small wine but charged for a large size. It said on the bill “ optional service charge “ but inclusive in the bill. Staff were pleasant but felt that they were very pushy in the “extras”. Would go there again , but, conscious if the above observatios.

I was so impressed with my visit to this place. I hadn't booked a table but they were able to fit us in quickly, explaining the location of tables that were left.What really impressed me was the quality of service. As we were seated they told us immediately what wasn't available which sounds simple but not many places do this!We were offered appetisers while we chose from the menus. I was also impressed how they remembered what we each ordered - when the food came out they never needed to ask who ordered what which shows great communication between the different waiters. The food was delicious - we had starters and mains and thought each meal was well presented and tasted just as nice. Good quality food and drink for a reasonable price. The location and atmosphere of the place was also really nice. I really can't praise my visit enough - would highly recommend!

Good food and service - the acoustics in the room are not great as everything is very loud due to the harsh walls. Hard to gave a great conversation.

Booked my Xmas do here beginning of December. They were very accommodating and let us order from both the Xmas menu and main menu. Even had an extra person join on the day which was no problem. Food was really good, service very good. Will definitely visit again. Fab meal. Great staff.

We visited for lunch accompanied by our daughter and were lucky to find a table without a reservation as the restaurant was busy.Our server was friendly and attentive and didn't blink when our daughter who has recently become an eco warrior asked where the duck came from. I would have answered "the kitchen" but he stated it came from France so she decided the carbon footprint wasn't up to her new found ethos so ordered Risotto instead.We all ordered from a set menu and I had Gradlax with an additional price supplement to start.All courses were excellent, service was prompt and friendly and we will be back.

We've been here a couple of times, the food is amazing, specially the pork belly. I never get tired of coming here. Very nice staff, always looking after us. I'll definitely come back again!

Food was alright wasn’t wow but the service was terrible I had to get the waitress and waiters attention to order the toilets are awful tissue everywhere bin was overflowing wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to friends and family prefer the one in Cardiff bay more professional.

Took up the Free offer of a bottle of Chardonnay with the Al a Carte meal, what a lovely restaurant, food was delicious and the service was second to none, definitely recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back soon

La única crítica que tengo es el cargo por servicio del 121/2% que agregan a la factura, sé que es opcional, pero hago una excepción a este cargo, decidiré si y cuánto dejo la propina.

If you want a reliably tasty meal at a decent price then Cote is perfect! Fixed price menu is very affordable but there's no scrimping on quality. Perfect for dinner with friends, family or even a date. Particularly recommend the steak frites! The staff in this particular restaurant are also incredibly lovely and helpful

Me and my partner turned up off the street, it was quite busy but they found us a table. The staff were amazing so helpful nothing too much trouble ordered the weekend specials lamb chops peas and shallots so tasty can't recommend enough. Will definitely visit again.

We received a marketing email persuading us to book a table in January and enjoy a two course lunch for £9.95 which is good value. A table of 4 was booked as we were meeting friends. The food and service were amazing but unfortunately when the bill arrived they charged us the full price. It was rectified when brought to the staff attention but it is a little embarrassing to do this in front of other people. Please can the marketing team ensure that the Restaurant staff know the promotions. Many thanks Sue Thomas x 4

I went with a fussy perhaps awkward dining partner, the food was good & service excellent. I felt it was good value, the wine by the glass however was not to my taste .

Booked for meal before going to a concert , the food was excellent , service and staff were great . The Christmas party scene was in full swing but not to crowded , a good night was had by all .

Normally we eat at Carluccio's opposite. But rang the changes and ate here for the frst time we had eaten here and had the two-course menu. Great tasting food, really good value and excellent service. We'll be back.

Cote standards are excellent and this was no exception. Service from Isabella was spot on, food came quickly, was piping hot and very tasty. Will always recommend Cote wherever I go. Highly recommended.

Arranged a meal here a few days after Christmas for a group of 9 after a previous visit. We were taken straight to our table and service was prompt afterwards considering the restaurant being busy with other parties.

Absolutely incredible restaurant, the right side of busy with truly exceptional staff that make the effort to engage with everyone and make yourself feel welcome. David and Isa were absolutely spot on for the whole evening. Would recommend to anybody.

For the price, I would say definitely not up to scratch. I went there for the works Christmas lunch and was sorely disappointed. The choice was so poor for a Christmas menu I ordered a steak ( I can get a steak anywhere).

Had a pre show meal here and everything was fantastic.The welcome and service fron all the staff was first class,very friendly,knowledgeable and warm.The food was really very good.The cassoulet was first class after the mussels starter.The wine list is good and we had a great recommendation.Very good ambiance and we shall be returning again the next time we are in Cardiff.

Hi there went to this restaurant for the first time and can't wait to go back, we both had 3 course lunch for £20 each and a lovely glass of red and every course was superb and also the service. Thank you very much

Booked for mid afternoon on a Sunday, restaurant was half full at best, starter was great but waitress had to go and ask someone else every time she was asked a question.

Great atmosphere, Excellent service and beautiful food. The only disappointment was that we were charged for the complimentary sidecar cocktail but didn’t realise until we looked at the bill when we arrived home. Will definitely return but will check the bill before we leave next time!

My husband and I visit this excellent restaurant whenever we shop in Cardiff. When my friends & I were arranging a Christmas meal, I recommended here. Thankfully they were extremely impressed by the food, the surroundings and particularly the excellent service we received from the minute we stepped through the door. Creme Brûlée’s is highly recommend! We will be returning.

My partner, mother and myself went here on a Friday at not a particularly busy time. My food was ok, but unfortunately my partner’s potatoes with her duck were luke-warm and the duck was closer to “blue” than raw.

Been there twice and twice disappointed! First time halibut was overcook and dry and chef special sauce was just flour taste! Not impressed with destroying this dish! Two years later went there again and obviously chef cannot tell difference between garlic and spicy tomato sauce! When my starter comes back was tasting like tin tomato reheated in microwave! Shame on you guys and if I can give you some advice send your chef to building side as they belong there not in the kitchen!!!

Wanting a nice meal to complete our Cardiff shopping trip,we took advantage of the early dining menu and it wasn’t disappointing. The restaurant buzzed with good atmosphere and happy staff.No sooner than one table emptied it was cleared and dressed for the next lucky dinner. Definitely worth travelling from Anglesey for.

My wife and I ate here on the early evening menu. Her soup was served cold. She ate it because she mistakenly thought she'd missed that detail on the menu - however on checking it should have been hot. Also on ordering an English breakfast tea later that came with hot milk - which they changed when we complained. The meal itself was OK.

Friendly service, with the usual reliable Cote food and drink offerings. Situated near the shopping area, and also a short distance from the railway station. Recommend for a dinner or lunch break when in the city centre.

We came here as a treat for my daughters birthday breakfast.

Popped in for lunch as close to Millennium centre. It ticked all our boxes, the greeting, choice available, service and delicious food. The sauce with my moules was amazing.

This was the first time I had eaten at cote. The reason I got drawn to go there was how the staff presented themselves and the service they gave. I had a look at the menu and seemed to be a lot of choice which all sounded amazing. The waiter Eithan served me and was very helpful in making choices and seemed to have a lot of knowledge of the menu including food and drinks. The attention the staff took with you was next level and when I realised the person checking up on the table was the manger I felt it gave a real personal touch to the experience.

Had an amazing lunch here on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was surprisingly busy but the service was nevertheless amazing. Best french restaurant in town!

We booked a table for 6 for a pre concert meal. Service was good as always. Nice menu choice, food was excellent. Always have a good experience here.

Myself and my partner have been here on several occasions and this place never Disappoints. Food and wine is always lovely and the portions are always spot on. The waiters are always polite and friendly and very helpful when it comes to choosing the right drink. If you haven’t been here I strongly recommend you give it a try.

Really great, our group of 4 popped in with none of us having been there before and we were all glad we did. We were simply passing and one of the girls said she was peckish so in we nipped...

Had a delicious pre birthday lunch with my sister ( we both have Sept birthdays). On arrival it was explained that due to two fairly large parties being in the restaurant we may have a bit of a wait for our food. As this was a long overdue catch up we were happy to have a drink and wait for food. However the young waiter could not have been more attentive or accomodating and hardly any wait occurred.

We really enjoyed our experience starting with the French flat bread and then one of us had the spinach mushroom crepes and the other the duck confit both which were very good.

We met up with family midweek for a birthday lunch at Cote in the Cafe Quarter in Cardiff. The staff wished the 'birthday girl' Happy Birthday and presented her with a Kir Royal as soon as we sat down which I thought was a nice touch. We all had a good meal from the Lunchtime 2 course menu. We enjoyed our starters (the Tempura battered Zuchini was very good) and three of us enjoyed our Steak Frites for main the other person had fish and said that was good too. Wines were great. Atmosphere was buzzing and it has that nice feel of a French Cafe. For quality of food, I find Cote one of the better Chain Restaurants but I wish they included bread in the set menu as complimentary (as they do in Bistrot Pierre) and also I don't like the 12% tip being added on at the end. That should be down to the customer every time.

"Would you like an order of bread? Olives?" "Sure." No mention that lots of bread and olives came with the meals we ordered...It would have been a little more candid had the wait staff mentioned that, and we could have saved a couple bucks for a tip, which, by the way, would not have been left, because although there were only two of us, this restaurant automatically charged 12.5% to our tab as gratuity. I won't be back. Well, and then there's the salad - which was fine, but for the ground end of the lettuce which was, well, old and brown.

Visited on bank holiday Sunday for breakfast whilst away in Cardiff. Price was very reasonable and food was high quality. We had pregnant guests in our party and the waiter ensured any questions regarding food were answered promptly. Would definitely recommend for a brunch/breakfast.

Wonderfully tasty Sunday brunch. I had French toast with fresh fruit and maple syrup (perfection!) My husband had a vegetarian breakfast he really enjoyed this. Well worth the money. It was lovely to sit outside for food.

Cote were able to take our large group booking at very short notice for a Saturday night. There's a lovely atmosphere to this place which makes it feel upmarket but not intimidating or uncomfortable to be in for younger people like you get some places. Service and food were both great, everyone in our party raved afterwards. Our waiter took very good care of us and was always nearby if we wanted something without hovering.

We arrived just a couple of minutes before our booking time and were shown to our table immediately. It was a Saturday evening at 6.15pm so the restaurant was busy, but nowhere near full. We were given the menus and water as requested, but were then ignored for 20 minutes. About 15 minutes after us arriving a couple were seated behind us and our waiter then brought them drinks and proceeded to take their food order. At this point we got up, gathered up our coats and three shopping bags, still to be ignored by the waiter. I explained to the manager at reception why we were leaving, he was apologetic, but the damage was done. There must be a dozen restaurants within a minute's walk of Cote, so the service ought to be top class. We returned to the Novotel and a great meal there.

Amid all the fast food places in the middle of Cardiff is this gem. We had a very pleasant meal of French dishes done well. The house wines by the glass were excellent and our waiter was pleasant and professional .

I ordered a late breakfast, which was great. It came with real orange juice and coffee which I enjoyed. The Eggs Benedict Florentine came with 2 poached eggs, lots of hollandaise sauce, brioche, ham and spinach. Delicious and very good value. Staff were friendly and helpful. A free newspaper was supplied. Recommended.

Came here for lunch with my mother recently for her birthday . Quiet, clean, lovely food , gluten free menu available very well priced nice wine lovely staff . Really can’t fault it . 2 courses 2 people including the wine came to under 50 pounds . Thank you cote . Wouldn’t change a thing !

We really liked this. The evening we had last Thursday was top notch.

We had great food here they a special 2 course menu for £11.95 ! My husband had the chicken and pork terrine and smoked haddock fishcake ! My daughter of 15 loves her moules and frites! I had the steak and frites ! £2 extra but worth every penny! My daughter and I had the iced berries with white chocolate sauce delicious but the berries were a bit sharp!

I generally like this chain, but this one blights the brand. Vichyssoise was fine, but the chicken breast for my main course was dry and completely bland.

I was very impressed with the extensive menu for gluten free meals here. I chose sea bass as its my favorite in a sauce with finger carrots. It came with a little gluten free sticker. Its was delicious Will be back here soon when I next have a mega shop in Cardiff

Went here for breakfast today and ordered the vegetarian breakfast and the full english. Both were so tasty and came with a coffee and a juice for just under £11. Definitely recommend.

Had a lovely meal here on a busy Friday night. The staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing so well done to them. Food was cooked extremely well, we had calamari, parfait for starters followed by a steak and veal for mains all washed down with a bottle of white served chilled.

Sirloin steak with fries and a bottle of wine. Restaurant was half empty considering a Thursday evening. Gave it a try and so glad we did. Would recommend this eatery to most who like to make the most! Price wise average and not over the top.

Good service, good food, good location. Set menus offer great choice and good value. However, the Lobster Frites was expensive and didn’t provide the value usually offered by this chain.

This restaurant does what it says on the tin - good brasserie food. The food choice is wide and enticing as is the wine list. Service is friendly, fast and slick. Filtered water supplied in attractive ceramic flagons on the table. The special menu deals are good value for the quality of food.

We were so pleased by our first visit here for a Saturday lunch that we returned on Fathers Day for breakfast. Unfortunately we didn’t receive a repeat performance. On the Saturday we had a range of dishes, all presented quickly and perfectly prepared. Sadly the following day was characterised by very slow service and poorly prepared food - what a contrast!

I'd walked past it several times and my friends and I chose it on a busy Friday night. We arrived at the tail end of their all day special 3-course menu (ends at 7 pm) and the choices on that menu were inspired. I enjoyed the omatoes and goat cheese for a starter. My steal main was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and the grlic butter was outstanding. I substututed the fites for the Gratin potatoes (pro-tip). The wine was excellent and topped of my three courses for (£18.95) with the excellent peach crumble. Staff were attentive and a small mix-up wih the veg had it promptly removed by them from the bill so they really hustled. Excellent experience. I would go again.
