Blonde lady… appallingly rude. Seemed to actually want to escalate a very mild situation about a toastie (I had ordered a ham and cheese toastie but she claimed I had said tomato and cheese). She was intent on having the last word, when the only thing to do in that situation is tell me my redress options. No need to get aggressive. She shouldn’t be front of house.

Two women working there are quite rude. One replied to a customer in an angry way when they asked about the toilet code. The other was on the phone making a personal call while making the coffees. I was waiting to see if she made a mistake and she did, giving me the wrong size coffee and also forgot to call out another customers name who was waiting for two minutes to see if it was hers or not. On top of that it was clear these two colleagues were arguing about something.

The blonde lady who claims is manager was ridiculously rude to her colleague in front of me and my sister she then persisted to be rude and abrupt towards us. Huffed and puffed like she was the big bad wolf. I have been to many costas and this is by far the worse experience I’ve had. Don’t get me wrong it’s clean but the management role has got to her head and an apology to I believe her name was rija as she was very polite and looked shaken by by the angry energy she had received from the manager. Furthermore a healthy and safety hazard to get out the shop by having no handle on the door. If there wa a fire that would be a complete hazard

Really disappointed with the customer service today. I am a regular customer who placed an order and the barista making the order refused to give me one of my PAID hot drinks even though the cashier was assuring her I had paid. In the end very rudely she slammed the cup was making remarks how I hadn’t paid and made it seem like she was doing me a favour by making me one!! Absolutely rude. Does not represent Costa coffee morals at all.

Possibly the worst experience I've ever had ordering from a Costa. Usually I'd shift some of the blame on the Uber Driver but he was not at fault at all. 3 of the items never even showed up and 1 of the drinks wasn't even sealed properly. Toasties were also both burnt. Absolute shambles. Massive waste of money. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Me and my friends came to costa in barking it was 4 of us and only one of us was getting a drink, the employees here are so rude they shouted at us saying we couldn’t go up stairs because all of us had to buy something in a very bad attitude, we think this was wrong as one of us getting something anyways. I have filed a formal complaint with Costa about the Barking branch. I normally try to give servers a chance as I used to work as a barista and know how difficult it is to serve so many people quickly. But it's become clear to me that the baristas at Costa simply don't care about the Costa brand and serving customers. They produce bad quality drinks because they have no respect for their jobs or the Costa brand. What's shocking is that the worst barista at Costa Barking is actually the manager! She's either very foolish or very careless because when I was going to pay for my hot chocolate by card she put in £312 into the card reader! Rather than issue an apology she laughed about it and the other barista had the audacity to say "it's a good thing you checked before you tapped your card." No, it is your job as a staff member to know how to operate a card reader correctly and not over charge customers ridiculous amounts of money. I simply cannot trust the baristas here now to correctly charge me for items as they clearly lack the knowledge of how to use a card reader. Things only got worse as the barista who was making my drink had mango pulp all over her hands. She didn't wash her hands and ended up smearing mango pulp all over the coffee cup. She also took a long time making my drink as she was more concerned gossiping with another customer in her first language rather than actually doing her job. I ended up with a disgusting mango flavoured white hot chocolate due to the poor hygiene of the barista who made my drink. I urge all other customers to make a formal complaint on Costa's website because the more people who complain, the more likely Costa will do something about the incompetency of the people working here. Hopefully, Costa will replace these ungrateful lazy workers with people who actually want to work. For now I will be going to Starbucks which is just opposite Costa. They have better baristas who actually know how to make drinks aren't there to just piss around and get paid like Costa's baristas are doing.

Me and my friend (both aged 16 however are still in year 11) decided to go to Costa after school. After our walk to get there, we asked for a caramel cortado. The barista declined our order saying she could not serve us caffeine due to the fact that we were under 16. After repeatedly telling her we were 16, she raised her voice at us and was very hostile. We have come to this Costa many times before and after school and there never seemed to be an issue before so we couldn't understand why there was an issue this time around. We left empty-handed and upset.

An older lady served me the wrong drink I politely mentioned it was not what I asked for and she shouted aggressivly at me and was very rude instead of giving me the correct drink. I would avoid this costa. She also was picking things of the dirty ground and making drinks without washing her hands no hygiene.

Useless staff that don't know how to operate the tills, keeping customers waiting for ages, taking other customers in front of you because they don't know how to operate their own tills, building up queues behind you. I wonder which managers actually leave these people to serve customers. No customer service whatsoever either!!! Would not recommend this place.

The staff behaved so rudely, and when I said make it take away while ordering that time they agreed. Later on they just gave me a cup of coffee, when I asked for a bag, they excused me that 1 cup could not be handled in the bag. So according to staff whenever you want a take away you need to buy at least 2 coffee. They were not clear while taking orders.

I do feel sorry for staff in busy areas, having worked in service for years myself... But the customer service here is cold and rude. They must have a lot of people using or abusing the public toilets because i was forced to buy a drink before going in, to get the code on a receipt. As someone with an invisible condition I was grateful there wasn't a queue and that I'd taken my medication properly... Otherwise it would have been an uncomfortable and risky wait. When I got my receipt the code was printed so small I struggled to get it right without digging my glasses out of my bag, very inaccessible. The server then shouted at me across the room not to use the disabled toilet... To use the other one. No one waiting for disabled but one lady waiting for normal. Just because you aren't in a wheelchair doesn't mean you don't have a need for accessible... Bowl cancers, pain, colitis, muscle issues, pain and an array of medical conditions aren't visible but may call for an urgent need for an accessible toilet. I asjed the server after to remember not all disabilities are visible and accosting customers across the restaurant is inappropriate. The response today (lunchtime) was dismissive and unapologetic. I certainly won't use this csfe again when there's a friendly starbucks over the road. Customer facing behavior and attitude needs to be addressed... Do better Costa.

It was terrible visit, I served drink without comply with the Menu. It’s straight robbery. I have always said that the site may be good but without a doubt whoever gives a bad service is in charge of damaging it sometimes. Today I am going to buy a coffee since I wanted to have a drink to start the day, but I needed to go to the bathroom first. I can't get the code to open the bathroom door right (I tried it about 7 times). I turn to the lady who had served me since she is collecting things from the tables, and I tell her: can you help me with the door? since I can't open it. She answers me: it's just putting a code, it's very easy now I'm very busy. (He said it in a bad way as if to say don't bother me and in an incorrect tone) I've been in the restaurant industry for ten years and I know what it's like to be busy taking out 8 dishes at a time managing the grill, fryer, iron, stove, oven, all at once . that is being busy. She lacks good values when speaking and helped, in addition to her partner, where there would not be more than one customer at the bar where orders are requested, does she go and say that she is busy? With an employee like that, I want later, she wouldn't count that lack of education. It should also be noted that I don't speak English very well and that's why I kept quiet, well the main reason is that I know how to treat people but it's good that they know this kind of thing so they can see what can be expected from this lady.

Avoid this costa , hygiene is also terrible , never see them clean the shop floor or the toilets . They also add random costs to your food and drink . They are just rude people !!!! I ordered a latte today with my rewards point. I scanned it three times and the staff said thanks. I go to put some sweetener in my drink and they shout me over saying I didn’t scan it. Upon doing it again and it beeped scanned, lady goes pay normally. I said I will not as I have reward free drink and passed over my phone to show its valid too. She said it’s not working and tried to hold onto my my phone. I said to pass my phone back please and she ended it by calling me a “idiot”. Her name was nicoletas. Awful service for an establishment this big and I was immensely offended by this. Something needs to be done and I’d like an official email address to address this further.

The worst shop I ever been! All the time getting wrong coffee!! Used to drink warm late all the time giving me bloody hot and I’m burning my mouth, when I asked to give me some cold milk because is to hot for me I get answer from one of barista that for her is not hot. (Sorry did I asked your opinion? I just paid for my warm late money, I didn’t get for free and I would like to have what I paid ! I had disappointing experience today. I ordered Mocha along with my other breakfast items. They made the Mocha and kept in the window Hatch, some lady took that order. Later I reminded the staff but unfortunately I didn’t get my Mocha. Later as it was late for work and also there was huge queue I left from there by taking lose. I think this issue occurs every-time probably because of less staff and huge queues in there. Its bit disappointing to lose money like that as it is bit expensive. But food is great in Costa

Worst experience in costa coffee!!. Costumer service super rude, we ordered 2 lattes (they din’t have oat, almond milk) and iced tea at 20:30 on the 10/01/2023. We asked for extra milk in one of our lattes because it was made wrong and a worker with red hair started to complain that next time we order it single shot of coffee when it should be her business of how i want to drink my coffee. And the cleaning of the sitting area was really poor, there was coffee on the floor. And it is the WORST area to be sitting in a coffee shop, in the 10 minutes we sat drinking coffee 3 beggars came in and no worker said anything and then a group of boys were fighting with knifes outside the store.

After finishing my booking at Barking today afternoon, I found myself in need of a coffee, so went to Costa, a place where I go regularly, and expected something similar to my experience. But, I was disappointed, as apart from the “COSTA” sign everything was contrary to my expectations. Most of the chairs were old and dirty, costumer service was below the standards. One of the staff was cleaning her nose then touching the cups!!! The coffee was cold. I am not surprised why, unlike other COSTA shop, there were very few customers in this branch, which is next to the train station and should have encouraged many to come in.

Bit surprised that Costa did not have decaff coffee today (4th Nov). Very hard to understand server of coffee, the plastic screen made it very hard to understand him, this was also commented by other customers. Do you need plastic screen now. Everytime I go I dread to see the red head lady with glasses at the till.. she is so rude and unprofessional. It's as if she hates her job and her life. She makes you wait and when taking order she talks rudely with you. This is not how you treat your customers. New review - Worst coffee ever! This is my second or third time in Costa, thought I'll give them another chance but I'm definetly not coming back. I've always had immaculate drinks from other costa branches but this one doesn't meet the standards. My latte was so bitter and didn't taste nothing like the one I get in other branches. The staff are not welcoming at all . Thought I'll get better service from last time as I've seen different staffs today but the girl that made my latte, she quickly made it and served me cos she was in rush to go on her break.. So as I was waiting for my toastie to get served I went to get sugar as I've come back, I found my toastie right on the counter. The communication from these staff are non existant. The other girl didn't even call out to say my toastie is ready and it wasn't even busy. There's no greeting from the start and no thank you or goodbye. I work with customers and no matter what we always make sure we provide excellent customer service and that our customers are leaving happy and satisfied.

I have been visiting Costa Barking station for few years although not everyday but at least few times a month. I am a diabetic patient and I just wanted to use urgently toilet and i asked the staff do I need a code and she v impatiently and rudely replied that this is only for customers . Did I use every time toilet while I was a customer provably not. I wanted to use toilet and might have sat there to have a coffee but I left with a pain due to non usage of toilet and most important to deal with a staff most importantly a manager which is incompetent and with no empathy at all especially I mentioned her that I am a diabetic . She has no care for a person who is in urgent need to use toilet. No other coffee shop has questioned apart from incompetent , impolite manager who shouldn't be in customer service role .

The staff is absolutly terible , i have been waiting more then 10 min in a que for a coffe while it was one girl cleaning and two other ware doing god knows what around and left one new member of staff by the till which was confusing orders .other thing is i always paid 4£ for a decafe latte and with all the members of staff and there is a lady with ginger hair she charges me 4.50 for a decafe latter with cream , so bassicly is the same coffe but two diffrent prices may i understand why i am being overcharged all the time ? Absolutely the slowest staff ever!! Had 8 minutes for my bus so ordered iced latte. Paid money. Staff member put milk and ice to the cup. I’ve been waiting and waiting for next 5 mins, one staff member was counting tea bags while people were queuing, another was cleaning messy coffee machine and third was on the till and running up and down behind the till pretending to do something. I left with no coffee and no money back. Absolutely don’t recommend.

I went to this costa today at around 5:23pm today when two female members of staff were working behind the counter together. I am unsure of what their names are, but I was with my sister and we bought the same drinks, but we did not order or pay together. My sister was served by one of the girls and I was served by the other (seeing as we ordered separately) and when I went to collect mine after my sister had collected hers, one of the girls accused us for lying about getting two drinks separately. This was because the girl who accused us served my sister and asked if she wanted two after seeing us together, to which my sister refused because I was to be paying for my own. After accusing us of lying, she gave me the drink which I DID pay for and we showed the other member of staff (who served me and somehow forgot she had served me within that short period of time) our most recent transactions to show that we had both paid for our drinks. After showing one of the staff our recent transactions which we had no obligation to do, she waved us off rudely. Needless to say, customer service was absolutely awful, and the drinks were not made well. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Served cold caramel latte. Almond cake was not fresh at all. You need a strong teeth to break that cake. Will not recommend This place at all. It’s so dirty place to sit and eat. Will never go there again my advise avoid this costa if you can.

Nice to have a Costa right next to the station. The staff always seem friendly, however sometimes they looked and sounded like they didn’t know what they were doing. On a few occasions I’ve done my order but they didn’t know what it was or how to make it. I had to explain on 2 different occasions now to make porridge?? Even though it says on the box. Also the chairs aren’t comfortable in this branch. There is no Wi-Fi and they don’t use air conditioning so it’s always boiling in there. Also the prices for very basic drinks are extremely expensive. I only ever come here if I’m in a rush and really need to grab a quick bite.

I visit in the morning before work occasionally and the lady remembers my order, it's a very busy shop at that time of the morning so you can be queuing a while but that's beyond their control. It honestly makes my day better going in here and seeing her as she's always really kind even when they're busy, I need to catch her name so I can add it to this review! I think sometimes the newer staff can cause a bit of a bottleneck at the till which is my only complaint and to be honest not a big deal because everyone's got to learn! They've got a nice selection of vegan cakes and drinks, as do most Costas.

Horrible service, these girls don’t make any orders just keep you queue and wait, a middle age white women not in mood to work at all when I told her very politely that I been here queued for long time can I order a cup drink now, then she just turned around ran away. If you don’t like your work just go away don’t bring your rubbish attitude to your customers, not want come for cafe anymore just ruined your happy mood from morning.

Not a good idea to go during rush hour. The staff seemed to be in need of coffee themselves as they moved super what-on-earth-slow and needed me to keep repeating myself. The lady making my bacon roll asked the wrong customer if they would like ketchup and then walked past a pile of ketchup satchets to mess about with a box of ketchup. Even with 4 staff behind the counter and only one person in front of me they still managed to take so long that my bus arrived, boarded everyone at the bus stop and departed. I ended up just begging for/snatching my roll and running out the door in disbelief, trying to catch the next bus before I missed that too. And after all that my coffee is cold and weak. Cheers.

Quite attractive inside, very tempting selection of cakes and a range of drinks. Wifi provided which is useful. But, what is really scored on my memory about my recent visit here is the disgusting toilet, I thought I was going to pass out with the pungent urine stench when I opened the door: disgusting! Urine all over the floor..... The price of Costa's drinks keeps escalating, even a mini latte (smaller than a 'small') is £2.65 now, very expensive for a average-tasting small-sized coffee (the 'cost price' of the ingredients is about 20p!): better-tasting lattes usually available from independent coffee shops.
