Costa Coffee in Newry and Mourne

Worst Costa ever. Service horrendously poor along with attitude. Plus it was filthy and cutlery bably stained.I'd go without a lunch before I'd go back here. Next time "I'll walk on by!'

Called in Saturday 26th Aug. Girl at till was okay, food and coffee were actually good. Had ham and cheese toasties lemon and Blueberry gateau and 1 shot americano. All tasted perfect. Food was served in takeaway containers though we were sitting in as it was 5.15pm, no problem with that though. Why 2 stars, firstly as other reviewers have stated, sitting area is a dirty hole. Seats of chairs etc are stained with goodness knows what, tables are filthy. 3 young members of staff standing behind counter, arms folded talking to themselves, with obviously no proper training. Who manages this costa, how did they get the job, they are quite clearly not management material. My wife actually gofhot ghat we ordered a toastie fir after 10 mins sitting at table waiting on it, I said to her where is toastie. When she went up to counter to enquire, it was sitting there in a bag, they couldn't even be bothered to take it down to us when they heated it. Definitely the dirtiest and poorest Costa I Have been to anywhere in Ireland. Avoid, go up to Costa at Damolly near B&Q Newry instead.

I have gave this place a few times as I love Costa coffee. It’s obvious the staff have been poorly trained keeping long queues ( I have been in far busier Costa who deal with more people in a more timeously manner). They treat customers like crap and three people treat one customer. They are too busy chatting to each other to bother. The place is absolutely filthy from sticky tables to seats so disgusting you don’t want to sit down. Such a pity as it has a nice place to sit and view the buttercrane centre.

Visited here last Saturday. I sat down at the “cleanest” of the dirty tables! After we were served my partner had to go find a member of staff to have our table cleaned. The cleaning was a quick wipe and then she went on to clean other dirty tables. Tables should be cleaned once customers vacate them……..it’s not “rocket science!” All the staff appeared to be very young and would, in my opinion, need trained in customer service. I would not visit here again as it is not fit for purpose. The coffees were ok.

The whole sitting area was in disarray Rubbish on floor tables not cleaned The wooden wall cladding was thick with dust No proper cups as told the dishwasher was out of order All in all not a good experience

I went in for a takeaway coffee I paid at the till ok service was ok while I was waiting for the barista to get me my coffee I noticed the queueing was very disorganized basically other customers standing on top of you then when the barista was giving me my coffee such a arrogant ignorant disrespectful attitude towards attitude they asked do you want chocolate on it I went yes a bit and they poured to much on it then when they handed it to me they didn't even though I put my hand out to take it of them they just slapped it down on the counter in front of me with a attitude I don't know how this individual got this job and can treat and be allowed to treat customers like this do not go to this expensive and rude staff coffee shop I will never be back what a dump

Well yeah the flat white and cappuccino were both very good (£6.7) for the two, the chairs were comfy and there was a volunteer group of ukulele players singing Christmas songs nearby and playing their instruments making it all very pleasant indeed. The staff were friendly and hard working as there was no shortage of customers. I don’t go for any of the food as it’s all factory produced, way overpriced and worst of all you have no idea what the ingredients are, nor how long the food has been sitting deteriorating in chill cabinets. I linked in to their free, fast WiFi and it was a breeze to log in. it was a clean cafe too and they didn’t charge for tap water either. I do bang on about not charging for tap water but Starbucks (no WiFi anywhere in NI Starbucks) did charge me 5p for the plastic cup that held the water. I still can’t let it go after 6 months but no other coffee place has tried this con. It’s not the 5p it’s the message it sends just like the removal of WiFi. The customer is irrelevant to them they are just cash cows.

Dirty tables/chairs, had to ask for our table to be cleaned??.. disinterested staff, Lukewarm "Coffee" ( 1 Flat white & 1 Cappucino ...BOTH ABSOLUTELY TASTELESS..€8.11???), my saucer swimming in spilled Coffee, I had to ASK for a serviette, I was abruptly given 2 miserly paper excuses, & Costa supposedly PRIDE themselves on their "SUPERIOR COFFEE?? We left & 20mins later we passed by where we had sat, our cups STILL LEFT on the table! What an absolute KIP.

Went here yesterday ordered a Belgian Frostino as I saw the picture from the menu and it looked nice. It didn’t look a single bit like the picture and when I tasted it I was almost sick! Sour cream, not flavour at all, I couldn’t taste the Belgian chocolate a single bit, and there was no passion or care put into my order. I looked around at tables that where all full and all filled with full drinks. I guess the place doesn’t have people finish their drinks. The 2 lads working might need trained. Here’s the photo of what I got for near £4. I took one sip and left the place.

Coffee was lukewarm and didn't even taste like coffee. Toasted sandwich was soggy mess of cheese and white bread. Staff disinterested and not hygienic in preparation of sandwich. Go somewhere else!

Long unmoving queues, uninterested staff, grubby crumby tables. I Had a good look around when joining the queue and was honestly not impressed by hygiene or how quickly the staff moved through attending customers, some staff milled around behind the counter without purpose. Should have been cleaning a few tables or seeping up the floor. Expected more got less.

Wouldn't recommend this place as people walking around and being served without a mask on when staff were challenged to refund my money they refused until a supervisor was got and it was pointed out on their poster it recommends that a mask should be worn.

The coffee and the snacks were as good as ever. With the new protocols and social distancing, there is no atmosphere and I think I may wait till normal service returns before I visit again or go takeaway

This is not the first time we’ve had atrocious coffee here. Unfortunately we were silly enough to give it a second chance. The coffee was absolute rubbish. Mt flat white resembled a cup of watery frothy milk, with no coffee taste at all. Clearly staff training is required here. I won’t be making the same mistake again. If you’re looking for a decent cup of coffee you’ll certainly not get it here.

Normally very clean however dirty tables unattended for at least twenty minutes.Significant price hike on medium americano and Classic sparkling waster from£3.85 to £4.15. Not that long since previous uplift. Have to consider options!

Went with four others after lunch for time to discuss a meeting we were at. As expected we had no problem getting a table, the waiter seemed to have better things to fo - probably preparing for the "lunchtime rush". Coffee was Costa's. That's it.

Took a trip up to Newry today and visited the Buttercrane Centre. We went to Costa for coffee and a snack. It’s one of the best coffee stores.

Very disappointed that Costa in Newry would/could not honour Wunto offer from 3 mobile.Interestingly the app says I have used the offer.

Worst coffee I've ever had. In fact it was closer to hot milk than coffee. Very weak and tasteless. Absolutely disgusting taste and ridiculous cost, 2 coffees and a biscuit cost over £7.00. Will not return.

Had a coffee here before we left the Buttercrane Centre today. Costa is one of the better coffee chains but their coffee can be hit or miss. Today it was good. I love their giant Jammie Dodger, it’s fabulous.

Tables are never clean staff are never at the till and our unfriendly i noticed the staff pretending to be on a computer working but were laughing at videos.

We called into this branch of Costa on Saturday before we started to do some Christmas shopping.

Coffee was very good. Ample seating. I felt café could have been a little cleaner. Cutlery was stained. No serviettes on stand.

Stopped off for coffee and something sweet in Costa recently while shopping. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Staff were all very busy but didn't fail to greet us and let us know we would be served asap. There was a great selection of sandwiches/ traybakes etc available which all looked fresh and tasty. Had my usual caramel latte and it did not disappoint! My partner opted for one of their cold drinks and really enjoyed it too! The service was so friendly and efficient and even the manageress took time to welcome us despite being very busy with a nearly full coffee shop! Will definitely be back!

Girl member of staff constantly gabbling at counter and not doing her job, dirty crockery everywhere, overpriced and full of morons pretending to be on their computers. Very intimidating and cold coffee shop.

Los cafés son bastante sabrosos, pero aun así prefiero Starbucks pero yo no podía ser molestado caminar durante otros diez minutos. Los asientos son cómodos y no muy pegadas la una a la otra. Los servidores son un grupo simpático, y una buena parte de la cafetería está frente; es decir que tiene capacidad que permite a los clientes ver los compradores ir por fuera. Como está en una esquina hay un montón de gente, viendo la actividad si esa es tu cosa. También proporcionan periódicos que es un bonito detalle. Sólo hay dos desventajas: primero, que puede pensar una observación extraña, es el hecho de que no podía caber en la taza me dedo manejar, lo que es un poco de molestia y, aún menos atractivo, es que muchas de las mesas y sillas necesarias de limpieza. Me refiero en un fiver para dos cafés por lo menos deberían mantenerse en la cima de la limpieza, seguramente no es demasiado pedir.

The staff waltz around completely disinterested in the customer or their job. The till guy got the order wrong. The "Barista " took for ever to make it. When it finally got made, we couldn't find one clean table. All were either covered in food debris or stacked up trays of dirty dishes. They need more staff with a better attitude.

This Costa branch is ideally situated in The Buttercrane Centre and provides a welcomed resting place while providing lovely coffee and snacks.

I've ended up here a few times mainly for convenience: the coffee is not fair trade. It's not good either. We went here yesterday and my partner's Latte had so much foam on it. I had an Americano and it wasn't good. It just tasted burnt. Perhaps the latte could be 'blamed' on the barista but as far as the Americano goes it's definitely down to the ingredients. I've never had a coffee here that I've actually been able to finish. I think it's just very low quality beans.It's not a cheap place either. Considering it's dear I'd at least expect quality coffee.

My daughter and I decided to drop in for a coffee. There was loads of posters advertising the xmas coffees. One was honeycomb. Can't remember the other one. Asked for honeycomb..out of stock. Then next one was out of stock. I appreciate its a busy time. Staff were very busy.We got 2 coffees and one sandwich for nearly £11.00. I thought it was just ok. I do go here occassionally when out shopping. Its ok for a coffee.

I was in Newry and dropped in for a coffee.The place in is lovely.The staff are very nice.I love the latte...

Beware of parking! There is a 3 hour max stay. We had family photos taken in mothercare and lovely lunch in Costa but walked back to car to find £60 fine. We are not from Newry and did not notice the 3 hour max stay. We did look at cars to check for pay and display and couldn't see any. With 3 kids under 6 in car we didn't notice the sign tucked away on our way in.Our fault but definitely will never be back shopping in Newry. We've never had a ticket or fine in our life before. So disappointing as we really enjoyed our lovely lunch in Costa. Maybe the shops should get together to either get bigger signs etc.we had photos done,had lunch in Costa,back to get photos, spent money in b and q, next home and Smyths. We were back at car for half 2. Half hour over limit as photo shoot was at 11,

Ordered toasties and coffees. Were given coffee and a number to get our toasties . Drank half the coffees and still no sign of toasties , waited about 15 mins. I went up to desk to ask and was told they would check. Server came down with two burnt offerings and said we could eat them or get another. I said i wanted another, he offered to top up coffees, we saud we would prefer 2 pots of tea. The tea came down it was disgusting it tasted of paper. Eventually the toasties arriveda nd we were handed dirty cutlery which had a hair on it which we could not use. Paid £14 for this

This Costa has been newly decorated and looks lovely, however I visited today and although my coffee was nice I was disappointed by unfriendly staff, dirty tables and the ridiculously loud music! What happened to 'background' music?Turn it down please!

Loyal customers expect more! On Saturday 30th July I ordered a Caramel latte Cooler to go.Waited a while but that was OK, I then was handed a hot latte to go.When I said the order was incorrect the man who took my order made a face & rolled his eyes at the girls who were filling the orders I waited for my order to be remade & let the staff know I didn't appreciate the man's rudeness , Sad thing about it one of the girls was a trainee manager.No attempt to apologise ,very dissappointing. Is this how Costa wants to do business???

Like costa, the americano is always good. The flat breads and sandwiches are fairly good, can't complain about them, but I'm not raving about them either! I love the lemon tart, it is so yummy. All the cakes and buns are so good. Down side there are no toilets at the café, you have to go to either Marks & Spencer or the shopping centre toilets, which are located at the lifts to the car park.

You get what You expect from Costa, good coffee and pretty good food range but some of the staff leave a lot to be desired. One of the more permanent female members of staff is downright rude, unpleasant and don't think she has ever looked happy in her life. We pay your wages when we the customer buy your food, remember that and give us a more pleasent service

another chain, this pretty much everywhere so you can relax in the familariarty of knowing exactly what you are going to get. I will say that this is not the most relaxing of costas as it seems quite open plan and is located on the corner right in the centre of the buttercrane. It suits on the crossroads of a lot of foot traffic and it may not be possible to shake the feeling that you are being watched, because frankly you are.

Costa is Costa- I love their product, but the staff in both Newry branches- especially the Damolly Retail are brilliant.

Had some coffee with friends, that was really incredible. We enjoyed coffee with carot cake just loved it. Come back soon

Its in a really good location but closes too early. Like the rest of you I found service disorganised and slow. So dear for snacks and pastries etc. Coffee taste average.

Quite expensive, and a big charge for the privilege of sitting on a chair in the warm. I understand it's a stressful job, but the staff aren't friendly. Outraged that it's not even fairtrade, so I get to pay for overpriced drinks that make you feel guilty when you know that farmers' children are starving while you sip your Cafe Latte. And the wifi? I have to sign up for all this crap, it's absolutely ridiculous. I'd say go somewhere else.

Good coffee on the corner of the Buttercrane mall. A bit pricey for what you get. Food is basic, paninis etc and over priced buns. Large coffees are served in a soup bowl sized cup. Too much.

lovely shop location on the 5 way junction with friendly staff but they are aways training so where do the staff go? coffee is hit and miss often cold and too much flavouring would poison you. Buns are not worth it very drab prepacked. shopping centre costa isnt much better with better staff more reliable coffee but hit and miss.buns prepack. sandwiches are fresh and toasties are good. big problem with ordering in both shops why advertise coolers when it takes all summer to get ingredients in?? very poor.

I love Costa, been a card holder for many years as I travel around the UK but this branch was let down by the staff spending too much time chatting and not serving, they even stopped to serve me while they had a giggle over something on TV and I watched them thinking my Coffee is going cold......hey costa do you check on your branches ?

Coffe is ok although it seems to take a really long time to prepare, you always seem to be waiting a very long time maybe that's why it's always a tad too cold???. Very pricey and staff well lets just say I don't feel customer service is priority. Normally it's a case of you get what you pay for this is one of them cases where I have defiantly been short changed.

This is a handy spot for a quick snack during or after shopping in the Buttercrane Shopping Centre. OK, the Ritz it's not, but what you see is what you get.Didn't try the coffee - only the tea, scone and Danish Pastry, which were perfectly ok.Would use it again, next time we're at this location.

Ok coffee but overpriced; staff not friendly and like all Costas you need to be wary of the best by dates of the food on offer as information is hidden from the customer. Worst wifi provider about bar none, worse still one is limited to a lousy 20 minutes once finally logged on - so tiresome my advice go elsewhere even M&S cafe in the shopping centre offers no hassle wifi

After a long trip, we stopped in here. The coffee and treats were tasty but pricey. And getting on the wi-fi was a hassle. A boutique coffee shop should have an open wi-fi that requires nothing but a click to join.
