Costa Coffee in Down

Was great today until 15.30 when the music that i was enjoying went off and the place fell into an empty silence. This has happened several times as of late where the place later in the day becomes dead as music is missing.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Tables and chairs well spaced.

Favourite orders at Costa (regardless of branch) seldom disappoint. My personal Favourite is their carrot cake with a flat white... but just the other day, I tried this twisted choc, cinnamon, custard pastry with a new C'mas flavour 'Sticky Toffee Latte'... was interesting and nice for a change, but my usual is stiol my Favourite.

This is a great Costa. Excellent service. Plenty of seating, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Need more staff on tills. Tables were not clean. Overpriced food. Not great. Only thing nice was the maple hot chocolate

Had a lovely day out with my sister on Saturday, called into Costa had a nice lemon muffin and coffee. Beautiful 😍

If you want a flavoured hot chocolate I recommend coming here. Always a great selection.

Relaxing coffee but place needs a refresh

Worst Costa I've ever been in. Where do I start? Some of the staff are friendly and do their best but there are a few inexperienced people who clearly don't really know how to run and organise a cafe/restaurant. The drinks are hit or miss.. Sometimes OK but often terrible.. The tables are rarely cleaned and there will always be several that have trays and cups on them. On one particular day 12 tables out of 15 or so had rubbish on them.. It was incredible.. I could go on but don't have the time.. If I was the manager of this place I'd be embarrassed.. Worst Costa I've ever visited( and I've been in many.. In UK, Ireland and abroad..)

Having recently moved to Downpatrick I only tried out this Gem last week and I've already returned 3 times, a clean spacious cafe, following covid 19 guidelines, with very friendly, polite and helpful staff. I had my sunflower badge on for my hidden disability and I was offered help which was great. The food is yummy! Super fresh I recommend the sausage bap and chocolate twist and the latte was beautiful. I will definitely be now using this as my relaxing stop once the little one goes to nursery.

I'm sure we can all have a bad day but the girl who served me late on sat 22nd Aug was rude, dismissive and could probably use some sort of customer engagement training.

Went here for lunch today, good Covid 19 protocol in place. A young man steadily working his way around tables clearing and sanitising. Toilets in excellent condition. Two female members of staff working the till/barista area, absolutely no engagement, basic manners non existent. All condiments stored behind till area for dispensing which was understandable for Covid reasons. I asked for some sugar as did the gentleman in front of me and you would think we had asked for the Crown Jewels. Food poorly presented, a toasted ham and cheese sandwich served with toasted sultana from the previous tea cake served from the oven. Very poor standard for a recognised chain, could do with Customer service/appreciation training. Won’t be back.

Whilst the menu in the various Costa branches is the same (or virtually the same), this branch has a lovely, spacious feel to it resulting in a relaxed experience, rather than feeling like you have to vacate your table quickly. We all enjoyed the food and it is handy for when you're shopping in the nearby ASDA supermarket.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Seating is spaced out nicely. Drinks and food are good. Hygiene is maintained. However, I do feel some of the staff "rush" themselves into getting orders out and end up forgetting things. I've had to go back a few times to get things changed. I really hate doing it, as I know what it's like to be under pressure. The hot chocolate I ordered today is more hot milk, that's a first.

I have had to go dairy free due to an allergy & clearly asked the server about dairy free food & was told he would check. He went to the back room & when he came out told me the gluten free cherry bake wells & brownie & sweets were the only dairy free foods. I lifted the brownie &ordered an americano. While waiting for the coffee I looked at the brownie & the ingredients stated milk in bold as an allergen. I returned it & when to lift the bakewells & seen a vegan flapjack so took it instead. Once paid for the server said he would bring the coffee over. I sat down & proceeded to eat the flapjack when I noticed the date label on it. The use by date was the 8th July. Today is the 17th July. I spoke to the server who gave me my money back & stated it was an oversight. I also spoke to the manager who said it was an oversight & she would speak to him. She also stated that the cows milk that was brought with my coffee was an automatic thing for them to do & if I want dairy free milk, that it is my responsibility to request it. She went on to say that they have 4 other vegan options that the server didn’t tell me about.

best wee coffee shop about. nice and private. always get a seat coffee is consistently good and there are lots of nice foods to choose from. .come here regularly and always enjoy the atmosphere very friendly staff and very quick..clean too

How did the get 5 stars for hygiene the toilets are always poor and the food under the seats has been there for months. Coffee and food is ok

Great coffee and friendly staff. I enjoy the occasion to relax and read the paper. Comfy chairs and music not too loud. Staff make me feel very welcome and I visit regularly. The outside seating area is not so good, no seats and littered with cig ends. Discarded trolly dumped there weeks ago has only just been removed this needs sorting out.

Ordered a white hot chocolate. It wasn't warm and I had to run to the toilet cause I felt so sick after it. May have been the old marshmallows or the cream but I was not impressed

Opening hours have been extended for the Christmas period. The staff are always pleasant and now know my usual order. No complaints about facilities or cleanliness.

Called in with grandchildren we all enjoyed everything we had staff first class and will be calling back

Called in with my husband for an impromptu coffee. Really disappointed with the state of the place. Dirty seats/tables, no toilet roll in the bathroom and to top it all coffee was cold. Two nice male staff under pressure and doing their best but the place really not staffed adequately. People having to wait way too long to be served. I would be reluctant to return. For such a new establishment in Downpatrick it’s such a shame. Costa you really need to be doing better for paying customers.

Good Downpatrick venue to take time out from shopping, or maybe a meeting place.Spacious, reasonable coffee, great WiFi.

Stopped off here with my daughter to grab a coffee each very disappointed Americano was weak and so watered down I couldn’t taste coffee and lid came off in the car causing a burn risk as it was boiling and my daughters latte was disgusting and over sweetened and made her feel sick....will never return as wasn’t cheap but rotten!

Fairly busy and seems to have taken business from other local cafes. Service OK but staff look bored to tears and smiling is certainly not on the menu. Coffee good and possible to read the paper in a degree of peace. However all goes downhill once you step on the footpath outside as the litter, filth and dirt is disgusting. Get one of your unsmiling staff on the end of a brush and sweep it up, your responsible now clean it up.

Called in today for coffee and cake, this outlet opened last year but this is my first visit. Promptly served by two very peasant and engaging ladies. Coffee was excellent as was the accompanying cake. Clean well managed outlet. Regrettably music quality and content will drive you out as it’s dire. Will come back again but with earplugs.

The best Costa I have ever been in! Staff are absolutely lovely and polite even when when dealing with challenging customers! Manager is amazing and swift to help when in need! Great service and atmosphere 10/10 would reccomend

This place is really dirty cobwebs hanging from the lights dusty surfaces dirty floors tables not being cleaned. toilets are disgusting,someone from head office needs to do a spot check of this place. I'm so disappointed as we were looking forward to having a good coffee shop.

It's a costa. Not too long open, I guess they're still finding their feet. Friendly staff but very slow to clean down tables, floors etc. A few more staff members could ease the queues, too.

We enjoyed our experience today in costa coffee!had two lattes and 2 brownies which were scrumptious .relaxed atmosphere.would call again.do sandwiches.paninis.bagels also.toilet wasnt that clean and paper scarce when i went in on the negative side.several tables still had trays after people had left which spoiled the setting.otherwise recommend!!

Abrupt staff from start to finish, order taker had no manners (please or thanks!) & no takeaway bags! Barrista slow to produce drinks & again no customer service. Gentleman behind even scared to ask for a fork for his carrot cake.... overall definately the worst Costa experience. Happy New Year!

Called in Christmas Eve for a coffee and wish it hadn't of bothered, guy serving openly admits he knows nothing about his job and is only there for the holidays. So half fills the cup with warm milk then proceeds to dump the espresso and top with more luke warm milk and yes, it tasted awful. I am a fan of costa but just because of the holiday season the standard of coffee and service should not slip

I visited Costa on a Friday evening, looking forward to a nice coffee & a good catch up with some friends after a long week. Upon entering Costa a few minutes after 5 I began to worry that I had come too late - they must be closing as a young man was bringing in tables from outside. However, I proceeded to the counter, where I stood for 5 minutes while one server took forever to find some cream for the customer in front of me. A second server was too busy taking plates into the kitchen to bother attending a paying customer. Neither spoke to me, so I took their unwillingness to engage with another customer as a further sign they were getting ready to close soon. Bored & frustrated by waiting at the counter I gave up & hurried over to join my friends, expecting that I only had a few minutes to chat to them before closing. In fact, I sat on with my friends for an hour. None of the 3 servers (who had been unable to attend to 2 customers at once - there was no one else in the queue earlier!) none of them approached me to ask if I needed anything. The cafe was not busy at all. I was very disappointed by this extremely poor service. At the Costa cafe in Belfast's Castlecourt a large queue can be seen to in minutes and the servers engage with the customers to shorten the wait. Despite Downpatrick's branch of Costa being much bigger with nice decor, I will be reluctant to return due to their appalling service.

The usual costa franchise placed at the back of the retail park .... easily missed by passing traffic. The cafe is very large with masses of retail park car parking just outside. I found staff a little haphazard with no clear priority of service at counter. This continued across the premises on table clearing and tidying. I was there for a couple of hours and maybe this was more noticable. A little extra zest needed.

Under staffed, place empty but tables still full of used dishes. Coffee was nice and surroundings pleasant.
