Cornucopia Bistro in Windsor and Maidenhead

Our first time at A la Russe for my birthday meal and it was basically perfect - from them taking photos of the interior for me when I asked about the lighting, to allowing my friend to bring both my cake and balloon, doing themselves out of 4 desserts - now that is the mark of a good restaurant, caring more about the customer experience than anything else. Marked difference to the Ivy which wouldn't allow a balloon last year because of their "design" and would only allow the cake to be presented, not cut or eaten. From the moment we arrived we felt extremely welcome, the service was quick and friendly, and the menu is stupendous; so many dishes I could have chosen! I do hope our next visit will be as good - certainly shot straight into pole position of our favourite restaurants in Windsor :)

Fabulous food and wine, excellent service! Oh wow .... what is there not to like. Fantastic staff, welcoming and attentive. The food is beyond delicious. We booked short notice on a trip to Windsor for our Anniversary Dinner. The ambience of the restaurant is perfect for a relaxed intimate dinner or with friends. I only wish we lived nearer as A la Russe would become my 'go to' restaurant. There is nothing I could fault here. I highly recommend. I'm planning a trip back to Windsor next year and will definitely be back!

What a fabulous meal, perhaps the best during our month long vacation. Friendly, pleasant, fun staff and service. Food was delicious and the appetizer (fig, cheese, duck, etc) mentioned below by others was indeed special. Great atmosphere. We had very good meals elsewhere in Windsor, but I really think that if we come back for 3-4 days, we'll just eat here every day. A lot of fun, good food, reasonable pricing.

We went as two couples. One of our friends had an important birthday and I made reservations at A La Russe because it looked good on the website and it was down the road from our hotel. It was a lovely meal. The waiters were good humoured and the place had a great buzz. We don't visit Windsor often but the next time we do we will return.

This was our 4th or 5th visit over the past year with various friends. When we walked in we were warmly greeted and made comfortable. They offer a good choice of dishes and everything we had was delicious. I've never yet managed a pudding but the starters, mains and side dishes have all been spot-on. The staff are attentive, helpful, and very professional and it all adds up to a great restaurant

Been here a few times and each visit is/has been fabulous. Staff all very knowledgeable and quick to please. Food of a highest standard and a wine list to match. Would totally recommend unless it means we cannot get a decent table in the future!!

I believe this restaurant is run by the owner, the food is excellent. Lots of choice, quality, well cooked, good service and value for money, given what we were eating. You should book, very busy.

Delicious food, varied menu, friendly unobtrusive service. Had the pork belly - superb. Brother and son had duck - really delicious. The ice cream was gorgeous and the Chocolate Fondant exceptional. Portions are quite generous. Would eat here all the time if we were local. Excellent.

This spot was perfect for a family lunch for 14 people, aged 20 to 80. It was to celebrate a very special occasion, and the atmosphere was ideal - friendly and relaxed, but professional and very efficient service. The food was wonderful and the chefs were happy to be flexible with the menu to accommodate dietary requirements.

A la Russe is a restaurant in a prominent position in Windsor’s High Street which we’ve often passed but have been unable to visit because unlike virtually every other restaurant in Windsor it’s not open on a Sunday. But being in Windsor for the Good Friday morning service in St. George’s Chapel and finding A la Russe open it seemed churlish not to visit for lunch. I’m not at all sure why it’s called A la Russe (did the owner have a dalliance with a Slavonic femme fatale I wonder) as this purports to be a French or even Mediterranean restaurant formerly known as Cornucopia Bistro. Although there’s no sign of a former goat’s horn garlanded with flowers nor is there much indication of any significant change over the years. Indeed the slightly dated feel of the interior with wine bottles in a fridge and a waitress in a traditional white outfit reminded me a little of Cafe Rene. All that was needed was a visit from the military gentlemen who attended the chapel service and a slightly podgier maitre’d with a moustache and the vision would be complete. As for the food, a set menu was off and then on as it was or wasn’t a bank holiday and so it seemed churlish not to enjoy the likes of a pork terrine with a brioche followed by a minute sirloin steak in a delicate tomato pomegranate and spring onion salsa for me and a soupe du jour followed by a fillet of haddock in a white wine sauce for my wife. Both mains came with separate bowls of carrots and green beans. My daughter had a chicken saltimbocca (more of an Italian than a French dish) with chips from the a la carte. All doubtless to the satisfaction of locals and invading tourists alike.

We came to A La Russe for a second time as the first visit was so good.Service was good, always there when you want them. Tables are clean, we had a table for four for just the two of us so spacious and also spaced out. Menus sanitised after each use.My haddock was excellent although the sauce was not what I expected and Anne's veal was below par. The chocolate desert is really the best around and we both really like the chenin blanc wine; we just have glasses usually these days. It's a bit expensive but we sneaked into the £10 off deal that they had in October.

Great food, great staff, great location. Always have a good time and the food never disappoints at A La Russe. Old and new favourites on the menu, always freshly prepared and Pasquale always tries to accommodate your needs and wishes.

Since opening after lockdown we have visited a few times. We have not had a bad or even mediocre experience, every time it's been brilliant. The greeting from front of house, Pasquale and his team to the genius of Andre in the kitchen. We try to always have something different every time we visit. From the new menu we have between us tried most things and there is nothing we wouldn't order again.

Always been a fantastic restaurant but not been since prior to lockdown. Since re-opening, their COVID measures are very good and we felt safe and comfortable. The staff are brilliant. Attentive and quick. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Probably the best steak we have ever had! Good value as well. Estaba cocinado a la perfección y muy tierno. El personal fue amable, atento y divertido. El restaurante estaba lleno y el ambiente perfecto. Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en Windsor.
