Excellent food, great portions and service

Absolutely great experience, I generally eat Indian food weekly and come from Dartford where there are a few great Indian restaurants. this experience was incredible, we ordered a ton of sides and starters and requested to have it at the same time as a DIY thali. everything was delicious and arrived hot and fast. very reasonably priced. definitely will return next time I'm at Southampton.

Best Indian restaurant in Southampton by far. Food is absolutely amazing. I can't recommend this place highly enough. 5 stars all round.

Order a pilav rice and I got a bowl of boiled rice with no flavours or anything in it. As an Indian, when I ordered the food, I had some expectations. But this was the worst pilav I ever had in my life. If you guys don’t know what is pilav, please just google it and don’t cheat the customers.

High quality Indian food on the high street. I had coriander chicken which was delicious. 5-4-24 Visited again and very high quality food again.

If you are a family out for a quiet early evening dinner DO NOT EAT HERE ON A MATCH DAY!!!! Worst dining experience ever! Spent £60.... and for that received rushed food, indigestion, a pounding headache, ringing ears and anxiety overload!! My daughter is home from Uni for Easter so we were looking forward to a relaxed meal at our favourite Indian restaurant..... We were seated downstairs which was empty but within 5 minutes 10 lads/men joined us followed by another 3 followed by another party of 8 etc... all men, all shouting over each other to be heard. The noise was horrendous. We endured it for 35 minutes and left as we couldn't bear it any longer. The most disappointing thing was that the staff failed to recognise/acknowledge how uncomfortable we were and we were treat as part of the football crowd! We also, are business owners in Southampton and NEVER give other businesses bad reviews BUT this was the worst we've ever experienced, as usually we have a 5* evening at Corriander Lounge..... very disappointed!

Tbh, i’ll never forget this taste in my life in next 10 decades. It recieves more recognition in the city. We jumped into “CORIANDER” since we saw +ve reviews on the google. But we got to know that, this is the prank, taste is sweet whatever you order from menu and service is deprnds on your patience level. This restruarant not at all for indians and most importantly south indians. The most shocking thing is, i ordered chicken thikka biryani, i had minimum expectations, and just like that my taste buds went to other universe when it tastes coriander’s in biryani. They served boiled egg in the biryani where it taste got the better good Note:- Water is the best thing on the menu

Caution :- if you ever wanted to eat good food when you are hungry highly recommended not to go especially for Indians (moye moye meme song) After all, we got mint chocolates along with bill, thats tastes is far more better than the food we ordered from menu Worthless. Disappointed. Thanks

A lovely experience, as always. Mother’s Day lunch and they made a lot of effort, including some flowers for her! Food excellent, good prices, pleasant service, and great atmosphere.

OK food but weirdly staff treat Asian customers like we owe them a favour. Extremely poor service if you’re not white. Wouldn’t go back there again.

This restaurant at weekends is where people come to enjoy themselves, so it can be a little loud .Can’t fault anything about The Coriander, always spot on service , food and hospitality. One of Southamptons top Indian Restaurants.

Why have I not been here before now? Amazing food, impeccable service and unexpectedly reasonable prices. I will return.

Bad service and staff especially.

Walked in as a table for 1 on a Monday night. The restaurant was busy and the staff were fantastic and the food was excellent.

Reminded me of the old country. God I miss South Harrow sometimes.

My wife & I returned here after an excellent experience last month. However, this time it was extremely busy, noisy, overcrowded, and well beyond their ability to cope. Although the reservation was made 2 weeks in advance, our table wasn’t available when we arrived on time. While waiting, we ordered two mojito cocktails but 10 minutes later were told they had “run out” of mojitos! How does that happen when a mojito is just rum, lime juice, mint, sugar, soda and ice; nothing you’d expect a restaurant to have run out of early in the evening. So we ordered a couple of gin & tonics which were eventually delivered to our table when it was available. The cocktails could only be described as atrocious! They were warm, with less than half an ice cube in each and they were completely flat without any hint of lemon slice. One sip suggested they were merely gin topped up with tap water. Awful! Perhaps it was an ice shortage that stopped us from getting the mojitos. If so that should have stopped them serving awful G&Ts as well! The only positives were that the food was as excellent as before and they didn’t charge for the faulty drinks, however the overall experience fell far short of being satisfactory.

Simply great food and service good. What is not to like? Consistently great food and really good value considering the quality of the food. Outstanding quality.

Rude and unwelcoming , way behind Kuti’s or Bayleaf kitchen. So bad we upped and left midway through the meal. If you want to be spoken to like something that has been trodden into the carpet, this is the place for you.

Had a reservation for 7 people on a busy night. Was greeted gracefully and staffs were friendly and accommodating. Food was definitely one of the best in Southampton! Will definitely come back.

£40 for poppadoms for 4 people....... Otherwise adequate meal

Had a reservation for 6 people at 8pm. Arrived 5 mins prior to our table time, only to join a long queue of people waiting just inside the door. Despite asking several times about our booking, it was still 8.40pm before we sat at a table. Seems to be no organisation even if you've booked a table, you simply have to wait until others have left (what's the point in booking a time!). Also due to the sheer number of diners, our main courses didn't show up until 9.40pm. That being said, the food was delicious, just a pity it ended up being so late. Upon receiving our bill it was noted that we had been charged for drinks that we didn't actually have and to be fair this was rectified immediately and with apologies by the restaurant. Such a shame about the lack of seating people even close to their booking time, as that is very off-putting!

One of the best Indian meals I have ever had. Such good tastes and the staff are super nice. The price is also very reasonable. If you like a good curry, then well worth a visit.

We are repeat customers but not the best Saturday night experience we got put on table for two by top of stairs. Big error by the restaurant we were in a continuous cycle of large groups coming in walking past us to go down stairs or wait till table ready and moving from down stairs . Staff did not ask us if we wanted more drinks or if food ok. We waited 20 minutes for plates to be cleared definitely the forgotten two customers. Also the hoover was used about six times around us at the door and stairs.. we love this restaurant but if at busy times couples are an inconvenience please tell customers we felt that groups are more important.

Up there as one of the best curry houses in Southampton EDIT December 2023: not sure what's gone wrong with this place. The food is still brilliant but the staff and service have gone right down hill. Almost as if you're a burden to them

The only reason I write this review is because they have some of the best chefs working for them. Their food is simply amazing but their staff needs to learn some manners. Absolutely poor customer service skills , will only please the right audience... Had food twice there, never did I feel welcomed. Today I was nearby and thought I would take some takeaway food , but as usual rude staff, could have told me in a better way about the waiting period. I am a regular customer ordering food from delivery platforms... But today was the last time I ever stepped inside this restaurant.

I recommend to everyone. We have been here several times as a family.

Great food as always, service felt a little rushed we had to ask them to slow down bringing the food out and drinks orders were forgotten but they were busy as they always are will still come back here food and staff when available were lovely

We recently had a work Xmas do here. The food was lovely. I think it's a little pricey for what you get but that's just my opinion. Would definitely recommend if looking for a curry house in Southampton

Nice food, staff very attentive, didn't cost the earth.

Lovely food and very clean premises, staff all seemed to be in a rush with no time to talk or smile made you feel uncomfortable apart from a new lad who is extremely nice and the rest of the staff could learn a lot from him.

This place is AMAZING! Best meal we’ve had in a long time, each dish so tasty and fresh and left feeling nicely full but without that heavy feeling you often get after an Indian meal. Service was A1, nothing to complain about and very highly recommended.

Eleven of us dined here midweek, as we have before. I shared Crab Cakes to start, followed by a delicious Vegetable Thali. My partner enjoyed a Chicken Tikka Biriyani. Sublimely well cooked cuisine. The onion bahjee is arguably the finest I ever tasted. As for the chicken tikka jalfrezey, perfection, just pure powerful perfection.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Southampton. I have dine here at least 6 times and each one keeps being better than the previous one.

Food was no where close to the indian taste. We had an awful experience with our tastebuds and ended paying a hefty bill for the food, absolutely unworthy.

The food was lovely, I can't fault that at all but the staff are very rude- don't smile and barely acknowledge you. I quite literally had a napkin thrown at me. I wouldn't rush back.

We visited for lunch on a Friday (I am fairly sure that this restaurant does not open for lunch Monday-through-Thursday. I started with an excellent Seekh kebab, cooked in the tandoori - plenty of flavour. I continued with Jumbo Prawn Jalfrezi. This contained three huge prawns tandoor-cooked in the shell. They tasted great. The curry was two-chilli hot, as advertised,with very interesting spicing. When we asked if the chef was Indian or Bangladeshi, the reply was that they had one of each! I understand that 90% of England's 'Indian' restaurants serve Bangladeshi dishes. I find the spicing more exciting in true Indian restaurants (often called Nepalese). Anyway, both dishes were great, as was the cold Cobra lager. My friend chose a lamb dish, on the bone and served upright with the protruding main bone at the top. This must be good because he chooses it every time!

Only the second time iv been here. Certainly won't be the last. The food is lush, the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is perfect. Highly recommended

Best Indian food we've ever had, a firm favourite with us for years. However the service and staff aren't the best. Staff arguing amongst each other, when it's busy they often look angry and flustered and seem to take it out on each other. Creates a bit of a bad atmosphere. We used to go regularly but the staff now put us off dining in the restaurant so we only get take out now.

Good Food and very good Staff. The Resturant was busy but everything flowed so no delays etc. If you like Indian food, with good service then you should like the Coriander Lounge

We always visit here when we come to Southampton, one of the best indians we have ever had. If you fancy an indian when in Southampton definitely go here you will not be disappointed

They were really busy even though it was a week day but the food was still really good. It took a bit long to get served but the meal more than made up for it

Disappointed with visit with my family as we had been looking forward to dining at this restaurant. We went to the restaurant at 7pm on Saturday 30/09 with a confirmed e-mail for this time. Only to be told they had no room and it was clear to see they had allowed walk-ins to take the tables as there were groups of football fans sat at tables . After a while we were offered downstairs where their buffet was. So after we settled ourselves in our table next to the toilet corridor. We had to ask for a drinks menu and the correct amount of table settings ( they set the table for 3!) The food was good but not great and medium hot in temperature not spice. The whole experience puts you off going to these large restaurants as it is clear it’s more about volume than quality of experience. 6/10

Went last night for my birthday. Table was booked before hand but waited 10 mins to be seated, well told “sit there” staff are not polite in the slightest. When we eventually sat down, we ordered a bottle of wine and starters, we weren’t ready to order mains. The starters came out, but there was no room on the table due to menus, drinks etc. the staff member made it very clear this was our fault. I went to the toilet and my husband spoke to one of the staff, who apologised and took the menus off the table, not really sure how that helped, and said he would bring them back after our starters to order the main. The menus were not returned, so we went to pay our bill, at which point someone decided to give us a 15% discount, almost laughable due to our experience. And when my husband was given his change it was rudely pushed into his hand. Whole experience was made out to be our fault when, in fact, we eat out quite regularly and just wanted to try something we hadn’t already, for my birthday. Will NEVER revisit

BLAND. BLAND. BLAND, not sure if the chef was on an off night but the curry was god awful. I've tasted better ones from Aldi in a bloody jar. Thankfully I chewed on a toilet block in the bottom of the urinals and it took the taste away. Just keep getting a Citrix after taste. Amazed this place still open. Who ever cooks the naan. Medel

8/9 pound for some poppadoms scandalous, had to ask for a drinks order to be taken after sitting for 20 minutes, chicken masala came, chicken was overdone & sauce basic with no spice at all, waiters were not friendly at all, no manners or customer service

Beautiful food as always but unfriendly service, no welcome, felt very uncomfortable, staff didn’t interact with us in a friendly way at all nor with each other, disappointing experience.

We are always visiting this restaurant when we are in Southampton. Once again the food and service was absolutely amazing. Tasty starters and spicy and delicious curries. Special mention to Selwyn who was brilliant. Can’t wait to come back

This pace is a gem serving the freshest and best Indian cuisine that we have had in sometime. Service was great and this place comes highly recommended. Its a shame that we couldn’t move it to our home town.

Booked this place for a gathering of friends. There were lots of staff and I thought the service was pretty good considering it was quite busy. The touch of a free round of shots was nice after paying. The food wasn’t bad, I have had better of each of the dishes I ordered and the vegetable samosas were particularly bland tasting. But, we enjoyed our visit on the whole. Pricing was a little expensive. I appreciate things are more so these days, but the shock of seeing 10 popadoms and a few small dips (which didn’t even include lime pickle) coming to £17 was a utterly ridiculous.
