The Coq & Bull is a great find in Northern Ireland - and I can only HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE - as it is a modern restaurant with great, atmospheric lighting, stylish in appearance and with an amazing menu!

My wife and I had an impromptu dinner here on Sunday past. Everything worked perfectly. We had a pleasant drink in the lolounge area, went into the restaurant and were attended to very promptly by a very pleasant young lady. Our orders taken the food came and was excellent. We both had the seafood chowder and it was wonderful with plenty of fish, prawns and mussels. Rather than a main course, we both had chosen a further starter. I had beetroot-infused smoked salmon with smoked salmon pate, again excellent. My wife was well pleased with her choice. Both of us agreed that we would return. Highly recommended and worth a visit.

The Ava Grill Restaurant

12/11/2018: Visited this winebar with some friends - managed to get a great table even though we hadn't booked. Menu is extensive and service is great - staff are helpful without being intrusive. Great drinks menu as well and there are some really good offers on throughout the week ie Steak night etc. There is another restaurant upstairs which is also very good and all part of the same complex. Handy being near the train station and top of the town - well done Ava we will be back
09/11/2018: We were wandering around Northern Ireland, playing tourist and taking the trains and found ourselves in Bangor one day about lunchtime. Many of the restaurants there are closed at lunch and we were getting a little frustrated with most choices being pubs when we walked into the office of the local paper to ask for advice. The person there suggested The Ava and we are glad that she did.

The Dirty Duck

01/12/2018: I visited this gastro-pub last Thursday evening with a friend for dinner. We both chose Christmas Dinner and were not disappointed. We had small wine bottles with our meal and the red wine in both instances was very disappointing as it was really cold. Certainly not at room temperature as it should have been. The service was attentive and cheerful. It seemed cherlish to send back small quarter bottles of wine but surely it would be really easy to keep these bottles out of the fridge at room temperature so that the wine can be enjoyed.
22/10/2018: Even though we had a number of children with us they were well taken caare of and our food was promptly served and was very tasty. Staff were great
