Despite there being a large group in the restaurant, we were extremely well looked after and the food was lovely.

What an amazing meal we had today my wife had the soup and I had the special sandwich was absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend. We will be back thankyou

Stumbled upon this delightful cafe and both had the all day breakfast. Well….. this totally exceeded our expectations. Everything was beautifully cooked, great quality and delicious. 10 out of 10. The owner was very friendly and the place was clean and tables thoroughly cleaned after every customer vacated a table.

We were staying at the caravan park so headed to the Kitchen for an evening meal. Lovely friendly owners, terrific food with plenty local produce, good wine and a cracking heather ale. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We booked a meal here on the strength of the fantastic reviews, so glad we did.We had a fantastic starter and main course. Service was good and the food arrived in good time. We had our dog with us so sat in the new restaurant on the corner of the street.Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this place as the decor is very pleasant. We have booked to go back on Saturday!

Love the food, the atmosphere and the people in this gem of a restaurant. The village is lovely and so friendly. We stayed for a week at the caravan club site last year and came back this year. Would recommend

A return to a special place. Hosted and fed with care and great hospitality. We ordered the fish and chips and were treated to a beautiful plate of supper which was much needed after our busy day. The fish was cooked in batter and melted in the mouth. The chips in their little pail tasted twice cooked too. A side salad with some homemade coleslaw and the traditional peas made for a pretty plate of food. The prices are just right but to be able to sit down in this out of the way location and be served a meal of such a high standard is priceless really. The dining areas have a friendly and spacious feel so social distancing was very straightforward and it was clear that all the correct precautions and systems to keep everyone safe were in place. Our hosts were a joy to have around and it’s obvious they have great pride in what they offer. The small town of Newcastleton is always on our list of go to retreats and now this little gem is too. Back again this evening for another treat before we head home because it’ll beat the motorhome cooking hands down every time !

We had a impromptu dinner here in May. The food was hot and tasty ‘home style’. The hot desserts were lovely. The service was friendly and attentive but really quite slow. Dogs are allowed which was nice. Being from England it was strange eating inside an establishment as at the time we visited, it is not permitted to eat inside in England.

The photos tell it as it was... the most amazing fresh fish, crispy light batter, home cooked chips and tender peas. Highly recommended !

We went to Copshaw Kitchen for dinner when staying at Black Burn Lodge B&B in Newcastleton, on the recommendation of hosts Jayne and Michael. We weren't disappointed! Copshaw Kitchen is a gem. We reserved our table via e-mail and received a menu in advance. Enjoyed having plenty of time to choose and ordered our meals in advance. This is a really smart system ensuring that the restaurant has what you want, it's fresh, and it avoids waste. We had seafood chowder and panko crumbed brie with beetroot ginger salsa followed by crab cake Thai green curry and Cumberland pork fillet. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. Can't wait to go back!

Once again a fantastic Sunday lunch, love the atmosphere the food and the host worth the 180 miles round trip. We’ll be back soon Mike & Julie 👍

Fantastic food, lovely environment. Booked a late Sunday lunch here whilst staying in the village. The food was amazing and very large portions. We chose the 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £22.50 excellent value for money the difficulty was clearing the plates. We had battered mushrooms, smoked salmon, crabcake,Roast Beef dinner, Piri Piri chicken skewer, Barnsley chop followed by creme brulee, Knickerbocker Glory, Black forest sundae. We will be back. Also if you have your dog they are welcome in the front room x

I dined in here twice during a stay at the caravan site. I had an amazing evening meal on the Saturday night and a 2 course Sunday lunch the next day. The food was impressive and the service attentive. For my evening meal I chose the caprese salad, it was served warm on toasted fried bread - it was absolutely delicious. My main was king prawn curry and that was tasty too with plenty prawns. I also had a glass of white wine. The Sunday lunch was lovely, very large portions and plenty of different veg etc. The creme brûlée finished it off perfectly. Very high standards, very impressive.

As we were staying in Newcastleton and had taken advantage of its Riverside Walks we looked for somewhere to take a break and found Copshaw Kitchen. At 3:30pm this was functioning as a tea room but it has a Bistro menu at night which looked very appertising.The vanilla slices were out of this world, being cool and refreshingly flavoured; just what we needed. The coffee was suitably strong and set us up for the rest of our walk.

It’s difficult to get the full experience of any washers new during the epidemic but Copshaw was top show! 1st Covid- their is a one way system, hand sanitiser & track & trace, the place was spotlessly clean. The service was very good, the owner was very accommodating for my two young boys, making food that wasn’t on the menu. We had the fish & chips, copshaw burger & the kids had pasta with chicken nuggets. The portion sizes were spot on for all 4 of us. The quality of food was really good, I had the burger & WOW it’s pretty good well worth the £9. Fish and chips were £10.50.To top it off they had takeaway cakes & alcohol To summarise, the Copshaw is well worth a visit, I felt safe in this current climate.

Very friendly and accommodating host, and very family friendly. Food was delicious, especially the Sunday roast and Haddock rarebit. Good value as well. Would recommend highly!

Stopped at this delightful eatery for breakfast after reading some great reviews!We were not disappointed! I had eggs Benedict and he had full English breakfast. Probably one of the best breakfasts we’ve had... top quality ingredients, superbly cooked and well presented...very very tasty. We support local produce as much as we can and were pleased to learn everything on our plates has been sourced locally, including the bacon and sausage from an excellent butcher in the village.Coffee was piping hot and full of flavour!Tiny oversight of a couple of ingredients being missed off the full English but it’s not the mistake, it’s how the mistake is handled and I have to say, my husband was left with a big smile after being addressed as the ‘mushroom man’ by the chef upon delivery of missing mushrooms, which were worth the slight wait, and a couple of extra hash browns finding their way to his plate... superb service and we WILL be back!

Newly tastefully decorated in a Bistro style with modern furnishings we very much enjoyed the atmosphere and found much to like on the revised menu. Delicious food and Linda was attentive as usual. Can highly recommend. Michael & Jayne

Visited here after listening to caravanners on local site saying how good it was. On a wet Sunday late in the day it wasn’t too busy, but others say book to avoid disappointment. We both had a Roast Beef Dinner, very tasty well cooked food. Sat by the open fire and service with a smile. Brilliant, thank you

We have often eaten at the Copshaw kitchen at both lunchtime and for an evening meal. The food is always of a very high standard we are never disappointed both Linda and Robin have a great team working along side them. A recent makeover has only enhanced the dining experience we look forward to our next visit very soon.

Staff very friendly and food very good. Nice decor. Recently refurbished. Only downside was we were the only two dinners on a Friday evening. Menu small but good choices but could have done with some veggie options. Lovely homemade soup. Big portions. Too full for dessert.

I hosted a gathering of friends and family to mark my wife’s recent passing. The function was arranged with great help and advice from the owners and hosts of Copshaw Kitchen, Robin and Linda. Over 80 people came for this afternoon and evening event. The food was excellent and plentiful, the welcome everyone received was warm, and the service throughout was attentive and sensitive to the occasion.

Stopped by for sunday lunch. Had lasangna verdi and lamb burger. Both were nice. The only negative were soggy chips, but would eat there again.

We were soaked through after a visit to nearby Hermitage Castle and spotted this place on our way home. We got a table in the window and ordered egg and hash bap, an egg, bacon and hash bap, pot of tea and a latte. Arrived quickly, was piping hot and tasty. Took 2 pieces of tiffin for the journey home. Lip-smackingly delicious. £13.50 all in. And all served with a big smile. Lovely!

Had a Large Breakfast and a Pot of Tea. Quality was excellent, nearly 4 cups int e Tea Pot. Large Breakfast is top quality and HUGE. Friendly staff and a generally nice place.

We pre-booked but as soon as we arrived, they knew it was us and were expecting us, table was all set and we were shown straight through. We were given a menu as they sat a couple behind us down then took our drinks order. So friendly staff. Very welcoming. My partner and I both had a starter and main, and the portions were very generous and the food was excellent. We left so full!!! We couldn't fit a dessert in unfortunately.We would recommend, I think it is advisable to book as they do get busy. Will go again when in Newcastleton!

Today we visited this amazing cafe/restaurant and awestruck at the place, in the village of Newcastleton, which incidentally we have fallen in love with!

It may not look much from the outside, but the food and service inside is top notch. Heartily recommend Copshaw for an evening meal. It beats everything else available in Newcastleton

The meals that all 5 of us had were all good quality and just the right amount which is a big plus for any restaurant. The service was excellent no unexpected long wait between courses .All told we had really good night.

Don't be put off by what looks like an ordinary little tea-shop. On the nights they cook dinner you are in for a treat. Interesting menu which is well cooked and presented with a smile. Open for Sunday lunch too. We would highly recommend this super little restuarant.

After meeting the owners in a nearby pub the previous evening my husband and I decided we would go to the copshaw kitchen to celebrate my birthday!

We had lunch yesterday, and dinner tonight. The atmosphere was great, the welcome was fantastic, and the food was superb. 3 course (at least for me!), bottle of wine, beer and Jack Daniels before meal, and all for £63. Outstanding value, really nice people, and will definitely be back. I love supporting local businesses, even if they are more expensive, but this business is great value and superb quality.

Had a delicious meal at the Copshaw Kitchen. We were staying in the village for 2 nights and decided after our starters we would come back the next evening. The host was lovely and there was a really relaxed feel to the restaurant. There was a great selection of gin’s that I made sure I sampled. Highly recommended.

We were a party of 9 staying at Dalkeith House in the village and rather than cooking on our first night we rang ahead and ordered a large lasagne and a baked cheesecake. We arranged pick up at 4.30 and it was ready bang on time. We ordered on recommendation and we were not disappointed. The lasagne was absolutely delicious it full of meat and really tasty and the cheesecake was delicious. Really good value for money. The cafe/ restaurant is well presented and all the food available looked lovely. Would recommend to anyone.

We've been staying at Lidalia caravan park and had some beautiful meals at the Copshaw Kitchen. We've had coffee and cakes, lunch and experienced the bistro, and each time we have had lovely home cooked meals which are reasonably priced. Our final meal at the bistro was absolutely delightful. I had the steak and my wife had the cajun chicken with leek, peas and asparagus, followed by creme brulee. The wine and beer were also lovely, and Linda was a fantastic host.

My husband and I visited the Copshaw Kitchen Tea room and Bistro for our evening meal while in Newcastleton. They were very obliging over husband's dietary needs. I had the chicken and bacon pie which was delicious. I would definitely recommend this Bistro

Popped in here recently after completing the 11 mile cross border walk from Newcastleton. Their fish and chips hit the spot. The menu is soup and sandwich dominated but they do evening meals too. It's great finding cafes likes this in out of the way places.

We been stayed Newcastleton since 2010 yet never been this cafe.

This restaurant was recommended by our hosts so we were looking forward to a lovely meal. Unfortunately although the meal was very tasty the length of time it took for our food to be served was unacceptable. This restaurant seems to be popular with the locals and perhaps that is why some were served before us even though they came in later. We waited well over half an hour for each course.Even drinks order was extremely slow. Would not be in a hurry to return if we are in the area.

Needed a pit stop on the way through to Kielder. Linda really friendly and the lunch was delicious. Got some cakes to take away which were so delicious we popped in on the way home too. Recommend the flapjacks and the date slice. Yum yum

We had a lovely evening meal here and Linda, the owner, is really friendly. She went out of her way to find some nice draft beers even though she was rushed off her feet!

We used Copshaw Kitchen to provide a meal while we stayed for the weekend at Dalkeith House, Newcastelton. They came recommended by the house host and they absolutely lived up to the billing. Great food, well prepared and served and no clearing up

Three of us went for a meal on Saturday night. The service was excellent, the meal once again was out of this world. We all had battered field mushrooms will aioli. For the starter,They were so very tasty, and the aioli was the best we have ever had. My husband had Lakeland sirloin steak

Staying on the nearby caravan site we decided the short walk in the rain might be worthwhile and what a nice surprise. A great meal sat near the lovely open fire in an equally warm and welcoming environment. My lobster lasagna was an amazing start, followed by a good steak and chips. The star of the evening though would have to be the wife’s Lamb, absolutely fantastic. All in all great meal with excellent service. We will be back.

We had a coffee here before going for a walk and decided to come back for our evening meal. So glad we did, the food was lovely as were the hosts, a nice open fire to warm up after a walk in November.

Don't be put off by the café like restaurant as I still gave 5 stars. We popped in at the last minute, my partner had lamb and I had hake, chef brought out our dishes...what a surprise, beautiful meals.

The Copshaw Kitchen has become our go to location for breakfast when our group are enjoying a drive out on a weekend. The breakfast alone is worth the 70 mile drive and the countryside we travel through just improves it even more. The service is absolutely top notch, the bacon done to perfection and Linda copes with all our requests. Long may this business continue to provide a fantastic service.

We were staying at Dalkeith House for the weekend and getting married there. Copshaw Kitchen made us a steak and ale pie and a lasagne for our family the night before the wedding. They brought the food to the house, the portions were huge and absolutely delicious. The day of the wedding the men of the party went for breakfast, excellent food, brilliant service, very friendly staff. Robin and Linda did the catering for our wedding, cooked it at the house, what can we say, Robin is such a talented chef, food was fantastic, definitely 5 star and the rest. Linda was great, she couldn’t do enough for us. All the family were so pleased about the food and excellent service that we all went back the following day for breakfast. Will definitely be back. Called in with family on the weekend and had Tea and home made Scones and Cakes which were all fantastic, especially the 'Crunchy Cake' which was out of this world. Can't wait to go back. Well done to the owners & staff.

Called on the off chance for a lovely pot of tea, unfortunately to early for dinner, the welcome from Linda and Robin was really nice friendly and very welcoming I would recommend the copshaw kitchen to anyone as they cater for allergies like gluten free and go out of there way to help thankyou. My family and I visited the Copthorn Kitchen on the way home from a visit to the Kielder Observatory. Tired and hungry we were greeted by Lynda and offered the warmest welcome to this cosy bistro.

The food was exceptionally good, friendly service. I would certainly recommend the place, without a doubt.

We had two meals in here over the weekend of the Music Festival, and I have reviewed the Copshaw Kitchen previously. Linda always goes out of her way to ensure everyone enjoys their visit, which is why when we wanted to take my elderly father on a day trip to Scotland mid-July for a birthday treat, we arranged to have lunch here once again. My father has respiratory problems and uses a nebuliser, so Linda saved us a table near an electrical socket. As it happens, he didn't need to to it, but it was reassuring to know that he could do if required. My dad likes whisky, so we ordered him one that he hadn't had before after the meal. Linda gave it to him at no charge for his birthday.

My wife & I were recommended by someone at Hermitage Castle to visit here. Excellent coffee & cakes were served here at a very reasonable price. The lady that runs the shop & cafe was very kind & the service was excellent. Thoroughly recommend a visit here if you are passing through the area.

We were on a trip out to explore the area and came across Copshaw Kitchen. We decided to stop for lunch.

We were spoilt for choice with a really lovely menu for an evening meal. We eventually settled for pate and a soup, followed by lamb chops and monkfish, then finished off with dram brulee. The service was good, with welcoming staff and the food was excellent. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. It's a little gem.

Stopped midway through a cycle in the heat. Lovely place with excellent choice. Enjoyed the panini and cakes topped off with a cold drink. Friendly service and lots of places to sit. Overall superb and kept me totally fuelled up for the rest of my ride.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed a full English tea while our spouses opted for other entrees. Four very happy and full people left Copshaw's, taking a special memory with us. The perfect food, the warm and friendly service, and the cozy atmosphere made for a great time.

On a drive North of Carlisle we chanced upon this gem on the main street of the quirky village of Newcastleton. The fact that there were so many locals in the cafe suggested that this would be good place to take a break. It was a cold morning and we were seated next to real fire. Coffee and scones were very good and the staff there were friendly and welcoming. An excellent stopping place. Would certainly return.

We booked dinner for a large group and preordered from a choice of 4 starters , mains and sweets. Everyone in the group was full of praise for the quality, presentation and variety of food. As a group we sampled ham mash, curry, fish and chips and chicken with haggis. Side vegetables of sprouts,chips and roast potatoes were also served.the service was pleasant and efficient. I hope the photos do justice to two of the main courses.

Innovative plates. Fish & Chips to start, sure. Chowder main, mmmn. Wouldn't look out of place in the big city. Might have to make it back to sample the breakfast menu.

We visited for a late lunch on Sunday 28th January 2018 and had contacted Linda and Robin in advance to check they could accommodate a gluten free diet. They were so accommodating and the roast beef lunch and pudding were worth it. A great cosy atmosphere and it is clear Linda and Robin are well thought of by their customers. Thank you both for an enjoyable lunch, well worth the visit.

Just like to thank Copshaw kitchen for their hospitality and of course the meals we had on our visit over the new year, in fact it was so good we went twice out of the 3 nights. Very friendly, helpful and well worth the money. Just one thing I have to say is “ To much food” please smaller portions. I’m not complaining but the food is so nice I never had room Copshaw kitchens well known deserts.

As we were a family party of 10 staying in Newcastleton over New Year, we pre-ordered a ready prepared meal of steak and ale pie, veg and creamy mash followed by baileys cheesecake and sherry trifle for our first night. The portions were very generous and the food was wonderful.

Cannot praise them highly enough...christmas dinner in a bagette plus cranberry sauce and the best ever mince pies. It was just delightful with a truly surprising mix of flavours all perfectly cooked. Loved it. Ordered mince pies for christmas!

Whether we have popped in for a light bite or a full meal we have always enjoyed dining here as the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is very good. The restaurant is clean,airy and pleasantly decorated and has a friendly atmosphere which all adds up to a good dining experience. In conclusion, I am a bit of a cappuccino fan and their cappuccino is as good as any I have had anywhere.

Copshaw Kitchen is one of those rare finds that are such a pleasure to come across. It is very obvious that Robin and Linda take a great pride in what they do and are very good at it.

The service was exceptionally helpful and friendly, the two girls who came in were efficient and professional . The meal was absolutely delicious and all the clearing up was done too. The food in this family run cafe is really tasty, the menu is varied and the portions are tremendous. The staff were all welcoming, helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're passing through Newcastleton (Copshaw Holm) certainly the best within the village.

This place always makes the tastiest and plentiful food.We had 2 meals in a box to takeaway.Sausage,egg,chips and peas.The other was Scampi,chips and peas both meals were delicious, we are so lucky living so close,the best of the bunch in the village.

Held a family dinner for 9 in this surprising restaurant. What an impressive place, the food was wonderful, the care given by the staff was outstanding. A wonderful family environment created by a menu that reflects both the fact that this is Scotland and skill of the staff to cater for all even the fussiest youngest! This place is really worth a visit be it for a simple snack or something more substantial. Definitely worth going out of your way to visit.

My wife and I visited here last Friday 25th of July with a couple of friends.
