We had the pleasure of dining at this unique restaurant just a few days ago. The star of the show, undoubtedly, was the culinary genius of the chef, Dany. Each dish was a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that danced on our plates and left us craving more. The attention to detail, the fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and the creative combinations showcased the chef's unparalleled talent. But it wasn't just the food that left an indelible mark on us. The service was exceptional, thank you Dana! Her recommendations were spot on, and her attentiveness made us feel like cherished guests. Every interaction with the staff exuded warmth and professionalism. Thank you, Idris & Abdul! Next time I hope I’ll see Denise! Always makes my day special!

Great food, location, ambiance and staff. BUT owned by London School of Economics (why?!?) who impose a 12.5 % service charge which is not passed onto the amazing staff - shameful , the LSE is a bloated Govt/Student funded organisation.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Very good food. Properly made. And a great service.

What a lovely find! The friendliest of welcomes from all the team, and Denise is a total star. We wanted a light lunch before going to see ‘La Bamba’ matinee at the nearby Peacock Theatre. We both opted for the fishcakes and boy, were they good . We had a refreshing mandarin sorbet for dessert, and a chilli chocolate mousse which was rich without being overpowering. Note: not open weekends

Not only were all three of our entrees EXCELLENT and the suggested red wine terrific but Denise' hospitality went above and beyond. She is so warm and personal that you feel you're visiting someone's home. The food had lovely, unusual touches like the cauliflower sauce and salmon done to perfection. We just can't say enough how much we loved it and we SURELY be back next time we're in London! Don't miss this little jewel tucked into a lovely setting.

The owner Denise and her charming hospitality says it all: the food (all three entrees we ordered), the wine and the special salads were ALL delectable. The service was beyond the beyond with the chef being sure all was to our liking. This is a jewel which should NOT be missed!

We dined here on an extended lunch with our friend who knows the place. Great service, upbeat and friendly, but it’s the food which takes centre stage. We had the splendid chicken, the delightful seafood tagliatelle, and the sea bass was a show-stopper. If you want food done right, with minimum pretentiousness, here’s your place. Try it.

Six of us ate in Cooper’s before going to see the Rocky Horror Show at the Peacock Theatre. It was ideal. Service was pretty much perfect and my smoked haddock was a gorgeous dish. Starters were good. All raved about the goats cheese salad and I loved my good old fashioned prawn cocktail. With all of us having starters and a main, plus two bottles of excellent Picpoul de Pinet, it was £45 per head. For this quality and in this area of London, I’d say that’s good. I’d definitely be happy to come back to Coopers. Thank you.

Great restaurant with delicious food. Starter, main course and dessert with red, white and pudding wine. Run by a lovely lady and an excellent chef all in an easily accessible area in the LSE campus. Will be back with an overseas pal soon. Thank you for a five star experience 👍

The best place in Lincoln’s inn fields Found it by chance The food amazing and staff so friendly. We can’t wait to go back in the New Year. Good selection of wine and the price was great. Denise the maitre D !! was so welcoming. Such a wonderful friendly woman !

We were recommended to Coopers by a judge that worked in London. We were on our way up to London took this fabulous recommendation. Cooper's turned out to be a wonderful restaurant with a lovely lady who runs the place. We had several meals here trying different things and we're delighted every time. Have passed this recommendation along to several friends we know and they have also had very good experiences here. The food is fabulous and I believe you will be well taken care of.

Had a pretty rubbish experience eating here today... first, the waitress brought the wrong drink over, so she had to go and swap it. Then they served me the beef burger when I had asked for the Moving Mountains burger (I'm vegan), so I had to send that back too. When the right one arrived, I had two bites and realised it was very undercooked so I sent it back yet again. When it came back, I saw they had taken my old bitten burger out and cooked it some more, then put it in a new bun!!! The staff didn't seem to care about all these mistakes. My friend's meal was tasteless and uninviting too. Don't bother visiting!

A real shame. Went here as a group for a friends birthday last night. I will say the place has great internal space but really let down by food and service. We were seated (and having drinks) for at least 40 minutes before someone came to take our order (which we requested them to do). Orders taken - nothing written down. Repeated back wrong orders to us, we reconfirmed what we wanted. Half an hour later 5 of 6 meals turns up - the one missing for the friend whose birthday we were celebrating. We ask the staff where the six dish is (“it’s coming”). We all wait politely letting our own food go cold for at least ten minutes waiting for our birthday friends food to come….we then ask the the waiter to where it is. She goes to check. Another few minutes later the original waiter who took our order comes over sees my friend still hasn’t got food, apologises then says “I’ll get the kitchen to do this straight away”. Inferring that it’s not even been started (the meal should take about 8 minutes to cook as most of it was salad etc). By this point we’ve all had to start our meal and are nearly finished. Eventually the meal comes out (a full 40 minutes after all our food came) and our friend eats her birthday food alone while we all look on. In parallel we’d ordered some additional food - just chips - which took an incredible 30 minutes to come. The restaurant was only 60% full and a lot of staff on so not clear why the issues. Most restaurants at this point would have brought over a bottle of wine or offered something for this complete mess up. Nada. We thought it was bad form so spoke to the manager - who said he would take something off the bill. We reasonably thought it would be at least the one missed meal. They took off service as apparently the manager has no power to do anything else or offer any gestures. Which clearly is not true. Just really poor service in general and response… Then there was food…. We all were looking forward to the Korean chicken burgers but they were completely over (second) fried - so while crunchy on the outside hardly any discernible meat. Barely any of the kimchi Mayo in them - so what should have been a wonderful blend of crunchy, juicy meat blended with fermented flavour goodness was just just a burger bun and crunch. My friend had a salad with ‘heritage’ tomatoes - nothing heritage about them, completely underripe and hard as cricket balls that had come straight out of the fridge. Perhaps a new or training chef as some of the food mistakes were pretty 101 cooking. I will give them that there chips were ok, as was the humus. So if you want a great place to have a drink go there but perhaps skip the food…

I love Coopers and have been many times for business meetings and wanted to take a colleague there this last Monday. Went onto their website to book - said to leave a message via email. I requested the booking - never heard back. Rang their number on the Monday morning - no reply. Rang again before lunch just to check all was ok with the booking. Got a cleaner who told me that the restaurant was closed for a major refurbishment!! Guys - there is not a single mention of this anywhere - not on the website - which in fact refers to them reopening in March 2020 - not on the landing page, the news section, not a recorded message on the phone nothing at all - that is quite incredible and very, very poor. I was then in the embarrassing position of having to ring my guest to explain and scramble to try and find somewhere else locally at very short notice - wound up at Brasserie Blanc on Chancery Lane which I have to say was great. Not a good experience and pretty inexplicable and disappointing for what is normally such a great restaurant.

What a lovely restaurant. The food was excellent. There were three of us dining and we all said how fantastic our meals were. Very good service. Would definitely recommend and will be going back next time I'm in London.

Probably my favourite restaurant anywhere. The food is great, and the service second to none. Friendly and attentive staff, some of whom have been there for years but (like Denise and Paul) don’t seem to age. A good place for a quick meal, if you must, but without pressure, so a leisurely lunch is very acceptable.

This is my 3rd visit to this hidden gem, round the back of Holborn. The food is absolutely delicious, fabulous wine and wonderful service. Denise is incredibly welcoming. I ate the goats cheese salad, the Gressingham duck breast and apple crumble. Everything tasted great and nice sized portions.

Este lugar conoce bien a su público objetivo. Si eres un abogado trabajando hasta tarde o un académico de la LSE vecina, encontrarás un menú que es como un viejo amigo, lleno de deliciosa comida reconfortante. Mi amigo y yo tomamos un cóctel de langostinos y cangrejos de río seguido de hígado estofado con puré de papas. Todo regado con una excelente botella de Gigondas. Delicioso.No busque gastronomía experimental, ¡simplemente disfrute de lo que se ofrece e imagine que es 1978!

Qué joya maravillosa de restaurante es este. Estábamos buscando un lugar cerca del teatro Peacock para cenar de antemano. No podríamos haber elegido mejor. El personal nos recibió como viejos amigos, el ambiente era encantador y la comida exquisita. Un ambiente encantador y agradable y mi hija y yo definitivamente volveremos.

El restaurante no podría estar mejor situado ya que el teatro estaba literalmente a 2 minutos.Nos recibió el dueño, que es una dama encantadora y práctica. Cálido y amable y muy acogedor.La decoración es simple pero efectiva y extremadamente cómoda.El menú era pequeño pero variado, para todos los gustos.El servicio era bueno, la lista de vinos estaba bien seleccionada y lo más importante, la calidad, la presentación del tamaño de la porción y el sabor fue excelente.Un gran hallazgo y definitivamente vale la pena visitar.

quiet calm and great food in central location

Fácil de encontrar detrás del LSE y del cercano teatro Peacock, este restaurante fue elegido por su ubicación. No estaba muy ocupado el viernes por la noche para una cena temprana y nos fue bien. El ambiente era similar al de los negocios pero con una muy cálida bienvenida por parte de la asistente femenina.El servicio era amable, atento y rápido. Las porciones son buenas No hay necesidad de lados.Lamentablemente no nos dijeron más cangrejos para empezar.Recomiendo la pechuga de pato con col roja con puré de manzana, seguida de un delicioso pudín de toffee con helado de vainilla. Poire au vin con helado de coco estaba bien, pero quizás no sea la mejor combinación. El vino tinto recomendado fue realmente excelente.Los baños estaban en el sótano.

I have reviewed before so will make this brief ...One of the 3 had not been there for 10 years and the other not before. All greatly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere ( upstairs) was great with it being virtually full but not too noisy and with a real mix of dinners both by age and attire....Its nice not to be surrounded by suits the whole time. Service good and v reasonable prices ...we only had a couple of glasses of wine between us which makes a real difference to the bill!

Ordené una costilla rara medio y recibí un solomillo mediano bien hecho. Cuando me explicaron, se equivocaron de bistec. Me dijeron que no. no tienen no está en el menú; les recomendé la tabla del menú principal fuera del restaurante, que inicialmente dijeron que este bistec no estaba en la mesa, pero en la segunda visita a la junta lo encontraron y estaba en lo cierto, llamándome mentiroso es totalmente inaceptable y si usted mira en su sitio web, también muestra una comida de costilla que se ofrece - no hay una oferta real de disculpa, solo una comida de reemplazo si quisiera, pero con todos los que recibieron su comida, rechacé - la comida también era de mala calidad. Celebration early evening supper for 8. Booking a few days earlier with utmost efficiency and no fuss at all. Everything ready for us on arrival and superb service and excellent menu to follow. Very happy with the cost of the food and especially the drinks and an excellent experience all round. Will definitely revisit.

Coopers is a wonderful restaurant off a busy street in central London. In two days we had dinner and lunch there as we enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the restaurant so much. The lady (owner?) who served us was kind and lovely and had great suggestions. Not only for the food and drinks but also regarding little unknown neighborhood hideaways worth a visit.

Los cuatro de nosotros disfrutamos de una pechuga de pato realmente buena con papas fondant y col roja en un rico jus de oporto, langostinos tigre y vieiras con pasta de chile y un pescado encantador. Sólo tuvimos espacio para un postre muy agradable, la tarta de queso de café. Gran lugar sin duda para un almuerzo tranquilo y relajado. Comida de calidad. Sólo Mark negro fue el servicio bastante desinteresado por el personal de aspecto sombrío.

I am reluctant to give this place 5 stars as I want to be sure we can get a seat next time we visit! It is simply a fantastic restaurant with superb (and I mean superb) food and very good wine. We have been there when there's only been a few other customers but the other night it suddenly became packed but still the service was fast and attentive - I don't know how they do it. But I guess it's what you call professionalism.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while... ever since dining at Coopers with my son during a university visit in the Spring. Our meal was memorable for a number of reasons. The proprietor really knows how to look after her customers and made us feel extremely welcome, with just the right amount of humour and joshing for a seventeen year old out for dinner with his mum. The food went down very well: slightly old-fashioned - and that’s no bad thing - comfort food. The decor also offered something increasingly rare and old-fashioned - really comfortable chairs plus curtains and upholstery, which means you can have a good conversation without shouting, even in a full restaurant. A very enjoyable evening was had by mother and son.

Always reliable and super service.

Chanced upon this restaurant while wandering around Lincoln's Inn Fields and decided to give it a go. Glad I did. Food was simple but delicious. Perfectly cooked liver, bacon just erring to crispy, and great mash. Old school but so what. Very fine dish. Summer fruit pudding with cream was a dream. Fruity and sharp enough without being too tart. All in all, this was a great find and a really enjoyable lunch.

Mi marido frecuenta Coopers para almuerzos de negocios y a menudo su prometió llevarme allí. Yo almorcé en Coopers con mi madre ayer. Era nuestra 2ª visita y las dos veces hemos estado muy impresionados. Es uno de los restaurantes más acogedores en los que he estado. La mujer que corre parece que sabe mucho sobre la comida así como cálido y amable. La comida es preparada a la perfección. Halibut de mi madre que era el pescado del día fue el mejor que hemos probado. Fue servido con crema y champiñones. colcannon Mi pescado, patatas fritas y guisantes blandos también era delicioso. La casa Rose es fresco y muy apetecible. Mi Panna Cotta fue excelente. Sin duda recomiendo este restaurante y volveremos.

Business lunch was cauliflower soup and smoked haddock with mash both were very good and a decent sized portion. The place was packed but not just with businessmen so I think this place has a loyal following of regulars. We had no alcohol but I was still really surprised at the low price. I strongly recommend this place to you.

I visited this restaurant during a business trip to London, so had no preconceived opinion of the place before walking through the door. I was one of a large group, which can often be hard for smaller restaurants such as this one to manage, but my food was excellent, the Sea Bass I had for my main being particularly delicious. The service was attentive and the place has a nice atmosphere.

We ordered the duck as a main and I was expecting to see slices of duck but what I got was pieces of some indistinguishable meat which had 5 spice powder over it accompanied by some peppers and onions and was really what I call a starter portion. I had fries as well to go with it and with a roll, it came up to £30. Very overpriced for what it is.

Visited last week for lunch Good choice of dishes, well prepared and presented Main course of smoked haddock was lovely and served on a bed of Colcannon and topped with a poached egg. Colleagues all enjoyed their various dishes too

Callan was in charge of my tenancy refund. He was very efficient and attended to my need promptly. I got my refund within 24 hours. Thank you!!

Maybe they were having a bad night but the food would have been overpriced at half the price. The starters were dear for what were easily assembled dishes and one was charged at 40p more than the menu price. The wok fried scallops were good but overcharged by 45p. The halibut at £20 was a small portion and came with completely different vegetables than those listed on the menu and were proffered with no mention of the substitution. It didn't actually feel like a real restaurant at all and was more like one of those places designed to trick tourists into shelling out a lot of money for very little of value. You can get much better food elsewhere for these prices without feeling ripped off.

As always had a Fabulous meal and time at Coopers. Never disappoints.

We booked Cooper's for our team Christmas do by chance - a 'spot' as two us were ealking from Holborn station to the LSE. But what an excellent choice. The food was all freshly cooked and proper food too - real turkey (not processed), crisp roast roots and perfectly cooked sprouts. Service was efficient; yes, Denise the proprietor is no-nonsense but she is a proper Londoner and beneath it all she really cared about giving us a good time and good food. For central London prices, around £45 for three quality courses and a couple of glasses of wine is pretty good value in my book. No complaints whatsoever from our party of 20+. I'll certainly be going back in a private capacity. Recommended.

Primera vez que me he comido en la noche (para el almuerzo en estado 2 o 3 ocasiones anteriormente). La comida y el servicio era muy bueno y el personal muy atento (gracias Denise). Nada era demasiado problema - incluso cuando llamé para avisar que iban a ser 15 minutos tarde.

Me he comido aquí varias veces y hoy fue de hecho una excepcional visita. Amable, servicial, servicio rápido y comida muy atento (especialmente Denise) era genial (vieiras y langostinos con tenía Comí tagliatelli) podría haber comido todo de nuevo! Have been here a number of times, food always decent. Sometimes I've been put off by slow service and occasional arsiness of the odd server. Generally good though.

Unfortunately my husband and I did not discover this restaurant when we lived just around the corner on Drury Lane. But, happily, it will now be a regular stop for adult dining devoid of the pretentious fusion cum celebrity-chef nonsense dished up by so many London restaurants currently. It has a solid menu with quality ingredients well-prepared and well-served in proper proportions. The atmosphere is quiet, another plus for those of us who believe good food deserves good conversation. The wine list was small but adequate. Thanks to the man sitting next to me at the theatre who recommended Coopers!

This is solid "modern European" cooking, nothing outré or over fiddly, just good quality ingredients, cooked with intelligence and simplicity. Cooper's is presided over by a fabulously competent and briskly charming woman whose name I should know, having been there so often over the years. Also, I should mention that the proces are not at all expensive for this standard of food (ca£20 each w/o wine).Upstairs is the pleasant restaurant with large windows and an airy feeling, although it can be a bit noisy. Downstairs is the bar/bistro. I have seen children, babies even, happily dealt with in the restaurant although this is not a family place as such.

A beautifully run restaurant which has a superb menu.It is located centrally.I have been a regular for many years.The service is immaculate.

Excellent, if slightly unusual, service. Very good food, I had an excellent fillet steak. Very handy for the LSE, you will doubtless spy a Nobel prize winner or two there on most evenings!

Ordered duck breast. Look fantastic. First bite was tough, looking a bit more carefully at duck meat, I noticed it was grey and pink with burnt edges. It was def pre-cooked. Maybe frozen ? Left half on the plate. Very unpleasant -. Didn't bring it to the attention of the staff as we were with a guest and didn't want to make him uncomfortable. And, the staff never questioned if the meal was ok. My husband and friend ordered the daily special fish and thought it was good.

Delicious food, good service, but wine by glass was quite pricy. So, recommend to go for a bottle of wine instead ;)

I've been to this stylish restaurant on a number of occasions, but this was not only my first evening visit, it was also the first time I'd recommended it and was the host. As always the service was discreet and efficient and although the restaurant was busy there was none of the overpowering noise that is all too common in the West End. Wine was quickly sorted and the house white although perhaps slightly over chilled 'warmed up' nicely to display a pleasant crisp freshness. All the dishes were delicious and I have to say my haddock was a triumph - I should have ordered something green to compliment the dish but hadn't (own fault) but I'll remember next time. This is becoming a firm favourite of mine and I shall return - finally, pleasant 'grown up' decor and excellent value for money.
