Coombe Lodge in Croydon

We have just had lunch in this wonderful restaurant. We were served by a very lovely and cheerful waitress. Her name was Nicala Beech. She checked to see if we had any allergies first,then took our orders . The food arrived and it did not disappoint. It was all very tasty and Nicala popped back to check we was happy with the food and if we needed any thing else. Thank you for the great service Nicala.

At Beefeater Coombe Lodge, our recent lunch experience left a mixed impression. While the meal itself was satisfactory, it's evident that the establishment is showing signs of wear and tear. The menus, in particular, were sparse and worn, indicating that they have seen better days. However, amidst these observations, one shining beacon emerged—our server, Jan. Jan's exceptional service stood out, as she went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Her warm welcome and genuine smile made us feel truly valued and appreciated throughout our visit. Despite the tired ambiance, Jan's hospitality and dedication left a lasting positive impression, reminding us that excellent service can elevate even the most lack luster of experiences. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Jan for her outstanding service and hope that Beefeater Coombe Lodge considers investing in revitalizing its ambiance to match the calibre of its exceptional staff.

A few weeks ago i had breakfast with my teenage son at coombe lodge croydon and our host Jennifer was just amazing. The welcome on entry was just fantastic and she made us feel so welcome the service she gave was second to none and Because of the service myself and my son received i today went back with a work collegue and again our host was Jennifer and again. She really is a fantastic asset to coombe lodge and i look forward to going back very soon

5-Nov-23 Coombe Lodge: Visited as a party of 3 for Sunday lunch. Friendly service, and good food with hearty portions. Traditional Sunday lunch was on offer, as well as the rest of the menu. We had money off the food by joining their loyalty card, which seemed a no-brainer. A couple of items were out of stock but still plenty to choose from. The restaurant was clean and tables well spaced. Plenty of parking. A decent option for a casual Sunday lunch.

Great service from George in the bar area. Good service all around but also he kindly spoke to the kitchen when I was a bit late with my dessert order which was much appreciated.

Our waitress Nicala was fab! Very polite and welcoming. Made us feel so special. Food was great, location was clean and warm with a homely feel to it.

This is a lovely place, very welcoming. It was busy, but you don't feel squashef in and of top of each other. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Our waitress was Nicola and she was wonderful. Very cheerful and helpful. A happy family lunch 👍

Our Lady server was brilliant . The man who saw us in, not so. Unfriendly, didn't know which dish was which regarding our 2 steaks. No one wished my Auntie a happy birthday despite me noting at ooking. Dinner was OK but not brilliant to be honest. Lukewarm chios, overcooked steak.

Lovely establishment. The restaurant was full, so we were seated in the bar area. Our waiter was George. A lovely guy who was cheerful and friendly. Tonight, he was the only server behind the bar. Yet we didn't have to wait to put a food order in. The food arrived shortly after. George let us know where everything was and we really enjoyed our meal. I hope when we next come back to eat, George will be serving us again :)

Went to Coombe Lodge Croydon for Sunday Lunch. Our waitress Nicola was very friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. Despite being very busy Nicola always had a smile on her face which was nice to see.

Exceptional service and a menu that caters to a variety of palates. The ambiance is cozy, providing the perfect setting for a memorable meal.

Worse stack ever. Dry n hard N Cold Price over the moon. Not recommend but atleast worth try once then u decide urself. Good luck 👍👍

Run down and food was cooked very poorly staff not organised and waits for food was long

Popped in on a Saturday evening. There was a big queue at the bar. One young lad named George on. There were some large parties in so he was super busy. 15 minutes in the queue for 2 beers!! Only positive was George behind the bar, apologetic and running around like mad.

Enjoyed the mixed grill. Disappointed with the chips and onion rings being cold. Didn't complain as I would have had to wait a while for a fresh replacement. Observed a batch of food under hot lights waiting to be picked up and served and the cook on his mobile phone. Maybe get a Bell to let the Wait staff know that the food was ready to be served.

We had a little celebration Sunday lunch today with my daughter who won a competition. We were seated in the back bar area as the front was too busy and the wait would have been an hour. Lucky us. It was fairly quiet and we felt like we were having a VIP private service, courtesy of awesome barman and waiter George. He made sure that everything was perfect, and he had a great sense of humour, too. Thanks so much.

Cold food, cold restaurant, terrible service

Lunchtime restaurant staff were warm and very welcoming. The food was good except for having to request another sirloin steak because it was well done, and I had asked for medium rare. The staff were polite and quickly addressed the problem. The next steak was spot on.

I met a group of friends here for dinner on a quiet midweek evening in January. There were nine of us, so we had a small room opening off the main restaurant, which made it easy to chat together in peace. The downside was that, although the rest of the restaurant was warm, our room was actually very chilly, to the extent that I wondered if a window was open. In spite of asking, we never found out why it was so cold - no open windows, but with 2 radiators, only 1 was working, and it was only lukewarm. This certainly marred the enjoyment of the evening. Our food was fine, I enjoyed breaded mushrooms, followed by lasagne, then a brownie dessert. Although the restaurant was not busy, service was rather slow, no one ever checked if we were happy or needed anything else. We had to find someone to take our order, and later had to find someone to give us the bill! Annoyingly we were also never offered the Evening Set Menu, which contains some of the same food for a set price. I could have had the same meal for about £6 less! If dining here, suggest you ask for the set menus; there's a lunch time one also. A pleasant evening, but could easily have been so much better.

I recently stayed at the Premier Inn Croydon South A212, and had dinner on two nights at the Beefeater Inn next door. The restaurant was full on both nights and the staff very busy, but no one had to wait for their food, no-one’s orders were incorrect or delayed, and service was impeccable. In particular, Mike was outstanding. He not only managed to keep the service going, but did so with a smile and great good humour. He also found time to chat to diners and to make them feel valued, and to ensure that no one felt rushed to eat and go, but could relax and enjoy their food. Thank you Mike

Shockingly bad food. I ordered salad. The menu promised avocado, peppers, sweetcorn... I got none of that, just a pile of lettuce, I had to hunt for a very few measley pieces of cucumber and tomato. Nothing else. And the vinaigrette never arrived. Plus, the restaurant was freezing and the food took over an hour to arrive.

Really warm welcome and great level of service. Attention to detail noted. It's really sad, though, that beefeater has stopped the blue light card. This benefitted so many front-line workers. Hopefully, beefeater will reinstate in.

We had a lovely visit today at beefeater Coombe lodge, the food was delicious and the service was great, we were very surprised to find our waiter Jordan was extremely cheerful and enthusiastic throughout our dining experience. It was nice to have such positive interactions with our waiter as this is something that we don’t see much of in this day and age.

We had a lovely family meal this evening. I am a social media influencer so will be giving a shout out on my channel. We were sat in a lovely snug area for two. Perfect as we were on a date. Jordan looked after us and was simply amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. He heard it was our first date and suggested coming back for Valentine’s Day which we may do if we make it that far.

Celebrating my dads 60th this evening was lovely. Great food for a special occasion. We was a big table of 16 and only had 1 young waiter George the whole evening which was a bit unfair on him. He was OUTSTANDING never kept us waiting and never looked stressed or over run! He must of been rushed off his feet bless him. Thank you George you are a little star! He even joined in singing happy birthday :) Well looked after. Well done beefeater. Reason for one less star is it was very cold where we was all sat. Even my hubby was cold and he’s always hot! lol

Had a great lunch at the Coombe Lodge Beefeater of Calamari followed by the Salmon main & a Prawn skewers main washed down with water, Rioja wine and a salted caramel expresso Martini!! Service was great, the lady (sorry forgotten her name!) recognised us and enquired how my elderly mum was as she wasn’t there this time. Disappointed my brother couldn’t come down to celebrate his 60th with us but the experience we received today made it a great afternoon still, just me and my husband. We didn’t avail of it this time but is nice that they also offer the great value 2 or 3 course lunch menu and a loyalty reward scheme.

Save your money and get a happy meal ! The portion sizes are ridiculous! Harvester is borderline but least you get a free salad total waist of money as we were still starving after, is a very pretty place until you need the toilet then the little food you got for quite a high price wants to come back up again not good :(

Great place for a family or larger event. Very nice staff and very clean. Right next door to Premier Inn if you want to stay over. Far enough out of town to not be too noisy, but easily accessed and good parking. Lots of disabled parking too.

No soap in the dispenser, no working hand dryer and I won’t even say what state the toilets were in. Discount for registered customers is only applicable to main dishes and not on any set menu or kids menu options. Slow and inconsiderate service from waiting staff. Doesn’t even deserve a single star review rating.

Food is OK, steaks are cooked over so ask for one or two less than what you actually want, but they taste alright. Service is impeccable and the stagf are always so lovely. Very pretty building but the toilets are so damp there is water condensing on the cisterns.

This Beefeater at Coombe Road is top-notched for food, service and ambience.The interior is beautiful, like it was an established hotel before. I shall check that up because it looks interesting. Apart from this, we chose the Christmas menu. My husband had a 3-course meal starting with a cheese fondue, a medium-rare red wine sirloin steak which was done to perfection, and a mint After-Eight sundae for dessert. But, if you do not like fat on your steak, then opt for the fillet instead and pay £5 extra (if I'm not mistaken). I had the 2-course meal with a prawn & raw salmon cocktail for starters, followed by salmon served with seafood sauce for mains. The prawn cocktail was very fresh with such a good portion of prawns - it seemed bottomless! As for the main course, the salmon was properly done, and not overcooked. Most importantly, the food were served promptly, and so, we got to enjoy a lovely, hot meal on a cold autumn evening.All courses were superb. Most of all, we had excellent and courteous service from Danijela. She was pleasant, cool and calm despite being very busy, and always checked in on all her guests to make sure they were all right. I would highly recommend the Christmas menu at Beefeater, Coome Road, Croydon - only because the chef here (working on Monday night, 12th Nov) is top-class. I can't say the same for other Beefeater outlets as their food quality and service can be a hit and miss at times.

We had lunch here last week. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This venue was clean and cosy. The staff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely come back. Would definitely recommend it.
