Cookies Fish & Chip Bar in Glasgow City

Currently visiting my home city for a few days and staying in a hotel in Hope St. Caught up with an old friend for more beers than were either necessary or advisable. As there is no room service at my hotel I called in at Cookies just before midnight and bought a Chicken Bhoona and a portion of Chicken Pakora. Absolute bargain at under £10. - Given the price my expectations as to the quality weren't high but, when you're at that stage where you find it hard to speak without dribbling, your standards drop considerably. I was pleasantly surprised. The Bhoona was of very good quality for a takeaway and the Chicken Pakora was absolutely top notch and bordering on addictive. So much so that I went back the following night, when I was able to cross roads without assistance from kindly passers-by, and re-ordered the same meal. It was every bit as good as the previous night.

Awful. Burger meal was £4, but limited to a choice of 2 cans or a bottle of water. If I wanted another can it was an extra 40p. lol. Food very poor quality. Mass produced frozen burger. Chips definitely were not fresh and were clearly reaheated. Redone chips were hard. Served by a grumpy wee Asian dude with no social skills. I'm guessing he makes enough from the drunk crowds near Central on a typical night to care about any quality during the day. One to be avoided day or night! Absolutely disgusting, I feel sick while writing this.

I have been too cookies twice and by far the worst takeaway in Glasgow. 1 time I got pie and Chips the pie was rock hard and frozen, I took it back and they refunded me. I then returned feeling this must be a one off I ordered fish and chips. After one bit straight to the bin, fish was mushy batter was sold and little strange looking. I think this was heated from day before.

Bought a fish supper and a chicken nugget supper out of here worst I have tasted , fish was disgusting and the chips were nothing like i have tasted before brick hard everything went in bin

If you’re looking for a post midnight munch this is the best values and greatest pizza about. Staff are always friendly and polite.

We popped in got some donner meat, chips with curry sauce and some spicy chicken pizza. We found the gentleman that served us was a lovely chap. Everything was very tasty and reasonably priced was under £10 for what we had. We would defo go back if we went back to Glasgow again.

Got a carton of garlic chicken with fried rice from here, the most disgusting thing I had to eat in Glasgow on our visit. The chunks of chicken were rock hard and the curry was just medim curry, no garlic taste whatsoever, I threw most of it out, I thought about giving it to one of the many homeless people but I don't think they would've appreciated it. There were fried battered items on show that looked like they'd been there for hours, destined for the microwave like the curries no doubt. There are soooo many lovely eating establishments in Glasgow I can't imagine why anyone would buy 'food' items from here!

Work in glasgow city centre and always looking for some where different for lunch, So i was more than happy when i found this place that does lunch size pasta and curries. I tried the spicy chicken pasta and it was lovely and plenty within the dish for a lunch!

I was staying at a hotel on Hope street last week and just wanted room service after travelling from Aberdeen after work it was late I was tired. Sadly said hotel had no room service so I had to go out and find somewhere, luckily I didn't have far to go before finding this gem of a place. I had some chips cheese and curry sauce, the chips were proper chip shop chips and they curry sauce was so nice!! The staff are also really lovely!

Cookies might not have the absolute best chips in Glasgow, but the service by the team on Saturday night was fantastic. Served with a smile. Many thanks. we will be back - next time we're in town.

I was looking for somewhere to grab a cheap takeaway and this place was round the corner from my hotel. They have a selection of curries & biriyanis made ready to be microwaved. I ordered the Garlic Chilli Chicken & Rice and a can of diet Irn Bru. This is a set menu before 7pm so it only set me back £3.95!!! For £4 it was amazing. It's not a gourmet meal, but it's a great bang for your buck! I will definitely be going back!

I've been in here a few times for a lunchtime treat with work colleague's. the chips are always good. the lunchtime deals are good and for me its the right amount to not suffer the post-prandial slump in the afternoon, but filling enough to keep you going. a friend always goes for the burgers which are cooked to order. ideal for lunch or a snack.

Stopped in here last night. Food was okay. Pizza and Chips - what could go wrong?! Staff were okay. Prices were very good. Would go again if I was after fast food. Nowhere to sit in here. Great location though.

Great friendly staff that really do have to have the patience of angels to put up with the drunks at the weekend! Great pizza crunches and reasonable prices!
