The people there were so nice and welcoming, they were so patient with us as we were a big group😊 the servers were friendly and understanding especially Kshitiz, he was so attentive to us and had a welcoming and caring feel to him. And of course the food was 10/10😍

Slightly below average food and poor service leads to 1/5 rating There were 9 of us and our bill came to £180. Rubbish service - had to ask 3 times for most thing including water, the mango lassi, for glasses for the water. I gave up and got up to get knives and forks for the table. The mains took about 45mins+ to arrive to the table after we had finished our starters. The roti was so hard you could play frisbee with it. The rice wasnt fresh. The meat platter for £28 was pretty pricey and was best for 2 people. Everyone on the table including the kids gave the food 4-5 out of 10 and they were being generous. There is no tap water and they charge £4 per bottler water. The bill was also incorrect and needed to be adjusted which reduced the cost by £35. They charge service of 10pc which I declined. I won't go back.

Damn awful service used to be my best spot for Eid but the staff made sure to make the worst day of the year. It’s upsetting how bad they treated me. Just to get a drink it took me 2 hours asked few time to 5 different staff for a drink yet when it came it was only ice and not blended properly. No hate with the place but made sure to treat all the man serving first and the girls serve by ignoring. They shisha was good once upon a time asked to change coils again ignored. But made sure to pay the 10% of service charge since I work in the same industry and I know how it feels

The portions was very little compared with price. Food served very late . Taste overall. No ketchup, sauce, salt or pepper on the table.

Syed was a very nice waiter. Excellent customer service. Made sure our meal was good and we were happy with the food and service. If there were any complications or any sort of confusion. He was there to sort it out and help us. I loved my time here. Very sweet people.

I have no idea what people like about this place. Been here 3 times now and ordered different food every time and the food is just absolutely terrible! They need to hire a better chef and work on their recipes. A word of advice for anyone thinking about visiting, 4 doors down there’s a restaurant called Adana Turkish fusion or Adana fusion Turkish. It’s not up town dining but a very clean place and their style of Turkish food was literally a gem to come across. If you haven’t tried their food yet, you can thank me later 👍🏼

There were 13 of us ate in Colony last night (sunday) for my birthday. The service was slow, it wasnt even busy but they got our drinks and some food items were missing. The food was not hot. The customer service was very poor. Even when we left, no goodbye. They never came to check on our table. One waiter I believe couldn't speak english or understand, he look sad to be there. My neice broke a glass accidently, the waiter left the glass on the table till I mentioned a few times to remove the broken glass from the table. We won't be going there again.

Sooo cold 🥶🥶🥶 when here for my birthday staff was soo kind and they even played it’s my birthday and gave me an ice cream with a sparkler like a mini cake its was amazing also I had masala chips and a chicken burger and it’s was amazing

Farouse provided an exceptional experience with her friendly and super attentive service. She made the dining experience truly pleasurable. The food was amazing, and I highly recommend it!!

I've been here before. I like the vibe. Food is nice too. However, we were not happy this time. Service was so slow. They did not have enough waiters/waitresses. We asked to remove the discretionary charge and the manager asked us why we don't want to pay it! And then asked again. I have never been asked why we don't want to pay discretionary service charge. She told us it was for them to understand and explained that two of their staff members were off sick. That is, respectfully, not our problem. The beef bao bun starter is tiny and only one bun given - for £7. Our mains were nice. No tap water, you have to pay for water. The "big" bottle is £4 and not so big. Their "famous colony milk cake" is described as a "tres leches in pistachio milk". It wasn't as great as they hyped up. It's not pistachio milk, it's a small garnishing of pistachio and the small cake is drowning amongst what looked like plain milk. This place has the potential to be better. When it improves we might be back.

Thank you for treating me like a second class citizen 😞 Found a huge prawn in my chicken jalreazi. Only got 15% off for it. Imagine I was allergic to it then what would have happend? I get 20% off? The colony burger was nasty. It's frozen cheap pattay. Owner tried to fob me of by saying it's beef and brisket blended. Should have taken a pik. 🤢 To top it off, I asked for water and I was thirsty big time didn't get a bottle. When I went to ask the manager he said we didn't charge you for water. Could have fainted out of thirst the waiters would step over me to take orders from other customers without any acknowledgement. Portions are tiny but the price is maximised. And no tap water only 4.50 for bottled water. Sometimes humanity should come before profits. Overall nasty 🤢 won't be going back.

The food was lovely, the staff at the beginning took there time coming to us and forgot my friends drink it’s been half an hour but was sorted once we let them know. They even gave us free deserts for the misunderstanding which was sweet. Would differently go again!

Went to the Shisha place in the back with a friend last weekend. It was busy in the back but the restaurant was empty on a Fri night! We got some food I had the mixed grill and we had a Shisha. There was only 2 of us but we ended up paying £96 which I thought was very expensive. Grill was quite small and the Shisha wasn't great. Service was very good tho.

Good quality Shisha, the mains were not to my expectations. The Desi Chai is absolutely delicious. It runs rings around any chai place. Great for Shisha. Expensive menu and small portions. Fantastic service from the staff in the Shisha lounge.

Good service. The chops were well-prepared; however, there was a concern as the served food wasn't warm enough.

Unfortunately we were not blown away, which is surprising considering the amount of good reviews this place has. We felt the welcome needed work and the service was lacklustre. Food was comparable to a Sainsbury’s microwave curry. Very unfortunate. Won’t be returning.

Decided to visit this restaurant with my family for the first time. It wasn’t a great experience due to the service, their was only one server working on the floor, with a trainee who was predominately told to only clean the tables and couldn’t assist the other server to take orders. Had to wait constantly to get the attention of the server as he was busy with other tables. As an establishment you must consider service as one of the most important factor and increase the servers so the work can be shared and smooth service can take place. This message is targeted at the owner, please take this as positive criticism and improve on it, this will make the staff happy and most importantly the customers.

I wasn’t impressed with this place. We were served chicken biryani with cold chicken. Our other food was horrible too. Was charged £15 for 3 lamb chops, so food is overpriced and place is overrated, maybe once up on a time it was a fine dining place. Service was terrible, guys couldn’t speak English properly and no manners is serving. Drinks, nothing special but over priced. This explains why the place was empty on a Friday evening.

Visited Colony for a social with a friend. The food quality was good and they have a large variety of different types of food. We opted for a range of dishes, including biryani, grilled kebabs, mango lassis and naan. Overall, I found it to be good. The prices were quite high but the quality ratio was good too. Ambience of the restaurant was good and the shisha lounge is completely separate from the main restaurant, which is great if you’re visiting with family and children. I especially liked that they had a prayer area, so you don’t need to leave the premises to catch your prayers on time. I’d recommend trying Colony out if you’re in the local area.

I am a regular diner here with family and friends. The food is great and a lovely atmosphere. Customer service however could’ve been better on some occasions that I’ve visited but I overlook this because of the overall quality and taste of the food.

My girls' evening out at Colony Lounge in Ilford was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beautiful decorations that set the perfect ambiance for a memorable evening. We started with a high-quality Shisha pot, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to our time together. The experience was smooth, and we could tell that Colony Lounge takes pride in providing top-notch Shisha. Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered the chocolate brownie, milk cake, strawberry mojito, pina colada, butter chicken, rice, and naans in that exact order, quite a feast! The desserts were a true highlight, bursting with exceptional flavors, although I agree they were a tad on the pricier side for the portion size. The strawberry mojito didn't quite meet my taste preferences as it felt a bit flat, more like a juice, but the pina colada more than made up for it with its delightful taste. And the butter chicken, rice, and naan were an absolute treat, leaving us craving for more. Despite the minor hiccup with the mojito, I can't wait to return to Colony Lounge for another evening out. The overall experience, the ambiance, and the delicious food are reasons enough for me to make this a regular spot for gatherings with friends. Can’t wait to be back.

Overall very good. Starters had: samosa chat which was delicious, the braised beef boa bun was good much loved by my one year old, lamb momos were brilliant although slightly spicy due to sauce on top. Mains: lamb biryani was ok, butter chicken was good. So. Had the chicken tenders for my so , good portion and he enjoyed them. I do feel the drinks we had were not great and v over priced. Do not get the summer blue berry smash : ice with sauces cannot believe this is £7! Mojito wasn’t great either. Cannot fault the service, attentive and friendly with my son.

Got a too good to go bag from here cost £3.95 for £12 worth of food, was very disappointed with my bag had a spicy chicken dish, a bread and a can of fizzy pop, would have been nice to have got some rice and maybe an onion bargee or samosa, so if just a sauce and bread is worth £12 I couldn’t imagine the bill for a whole meal? Seems to me they are using too good to Go to serve a small lunch box of food but you don’t get to choose what they give you

Absolutely an amazing experience. Held my sons 21st Birthday and everything was perfect. The service felt like it was bespoke to us despite a wedding reception being catered for on the other side of the Resturant. From planning the event with Anwar to the night which Ziggy overlooked, it was completely seamless! We had over 30 guests and not once was there a point where were left alone. The staff and management personally checked on the guests and ensured everything ran smoothly. Welcome drinks and birthday cake presented on dry ice were a great touch. Highly recommended especially for a large events…. Thank you to the Colony team, you truly made it a special event for us🙏

absolutely horrible experience i have never been so utterly disgusted by a restaurant and food this much in my life honestly to eat here again i should be the one getting paid not a single penny was worth it after eating the horrible food a few hours laterr my stomache was non stop hurting my head was dizzy i was vomiting every 10-15 minutes and i was on the toilet for atleast 2 hours horrible experince 1/10 would not recommend please if you ever consider this place think again as you will leave in disgust and lose your appetite as soon as you walk in, as soon ss you walk in your hit with a nasty stench of rotten fish and makes you wanna vomit please do not consider this place left me n my wife on an absolute shambles🤮🤮

Came the other weekend with my friend. Staff were welcoming. The restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing. The butter chicken had a very overpowering elaichi taste, however, once letting the staff know, they gave us a fresh dish and it tasted much better. This is what I call great service! Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable dinner here. Food was cooked well with lovely seasoning and flavours. The beef loaded fries were probably the best I've tasted anywhere. The lamb biriyani had so many pieces of mutton it was a treat! Drinks were really nice also, especially the mango one. Literally the only thing I can say was disappointing especially due to the price was the pulled beef bao, avoid that! Would have been 5 stars if that was nice. Will surely come again, service was attentive and patient!

My husband and I have been wanting to visit Colony for a while now and finally we decided it’s time. The restaurant is located near bus stops (short walking distance) and there is free parking near Issac Newton Academy during the weekend. We took the bus because I wasn’t sure if the car park would be full. On entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by Syed who lead us to our table. The decor was reminiscent of a bygone era and was truly beautiful. There were lots of families, couples and friends eating away happily. There were no unreasonable delay serving our food. Everything was served on time and cooked to perfection. We ordered: masala fries, chilli paneer, chicken jalfrezi, butter naan, goan sea bass, tarka dahl, mango cheesecake and vanilla ice cream. The restaurant is spacious enough for wheelchair users, pushchair users and those with mobility issues. They have accessible toilets and they were clean! We would like to thank our two servers Syed and Azim for making our visit an unforgettable one. The restaurant was almost full by the time we left and these two gentleman served people with a smile. As for the negative reviews, just ignore them - I did and I am happy that I did. My husband and I will be going back again with my mum.

This is my 3rd visit to Colony & it has downgraded so much. The toilets were dirty, service was poor (1 person working). My friend ordered Masala fries, there was steam coming out it, making it seem like they were hot but they weren't even warm. After one coal change, apparently the Shisha finished? I have never visited a place where shisha flavour finishes after one coal change. Terrible service, Terrible food & I definitely wouldn't be retuning back here again.

Today for my birthday meal I had horrible experience at Colony ilford. The staff did not attend to us and bare in mind the restaurant was not even busy. They continuously got our order wrong (3 times to be precise), they gave us a beef burger when we had ordered a chicken burger, they put onions in our burger when we specifically asked not to as the person is allergic. Moreover, they gave out our dishes all at different times which meant our food was getting cold as well as this they had gave our drinks late when we had a finished our meal. Despite us raising our concerns they did nothing about it and did not even apologises or take accountability plus they had charged us full price along with service charge. Lastly, the head waiter was extremely disrespectful and rude, the manager of this place should consider who they are hiring. Do not get fooled by the decor because the service here was terrible. I strongly advise for you to avoid this place at all costs.

Very pretty restaurant with great service and great food! The asparagus fritters were quite creative and tasty and the papri chaat was very nice! Some people do it too sweet but their chaat was nicely flavored. I ordered a Romeo's mastaani that I didn't like the taste of but the kind waiter offered me another drink free of charge, which was very kind! But the lemonade drink we ordered didn't really taste like lemonade at all. Would recommend. Nice family place. There's also a sheesha lounge connected at the back for those interested.

Went part of a family gathering. Restaurant was fairly clean and waiters were wearing gloves but not masks and they were constantly cleaning the tables. But not much social distancing, as this would probably be difficult because if this was in place then they would have to remove half of their tables. They clearly would not do this as they would lose business. Food was okay, unfortunately there was a set menu so couldn't tickle our taste buds with the different varieties. Starters of the set menu were ok, the chicken tikka was good, not so sure about the kebabs. The chana chaart was tasty. The main dishes consistent of biryani (not that nice, had a huge chunks of ginger in it and less chicken, possibly to give the illusion that it was chicken). The chick peas curry was nice and creamy. The meat curry was okay, the best thing about it was the taste of the masaala. However the meat was very fatty and was not lamb, to me it was sheep, but tasted okay. The naan bread was lovely, fresh and warm. Finally, the desert was galab janaam - very tasty, dipped in creamy ice cream. After the meal I has use the toilet and was happy it was clean and tidy. But the best thing about the restaurant were the staff, mainly the waiters. I noticed how multicultural they were and enjoyed being served by a young Indian chap who always had a smile and took care of our table when needed. Also there was an Italian chap who looked like Dr Robtix from Sonic the Hedgehog, he was very friendly and always smiling under immense pressure. I would like to return and try other foods to get a clear understanding of the quality of the restaurant.

Lovely decor, food, very cool dry ice smoke effect for the drinks and perfect for friends and family to get together but I have one complaint. The day I came in for a little birthday dinner with my friends, I found the waiter Aziz to be rude & pushy. I wanted to double check that the drinks had no alcohol and he said if I wanted alcohol, there’s the door. One of my friends was in the bathroom but myself and my other friend who were at the table, we just went looked at each other like did he really say that and I tried to say to him that I didn’t want alcohol but he didn’t even hear me and started taking our order. It was completely rude to say that to Muslims especially to a hijabi. Don’t know why we didn’t just walk out the restaurant, it ruined my mood but we did travel by train for 1hr & 30mins to try this restaurant out. Another thing was that he kept trying to force one of my friends to try this blue drink and to trust him but like he was very pushy even though she said she doesn’t want it multiple times and wanted a coke so when he went off to tell someone our drink order I had to put my hand up and say again that she doesn’t want that drink and then he says so coke and I’m like yes coz that’s what she wanted.
