Our hosts in Edinburgh recommended that we have tea here. It was amazing. I usually don't do tea on our trips because my husband has celiac disease and his is usually so sad. This tea was just gorgeous, and although his sweets and savory platters were different from mine in some ways, they were no lesser. The meals was amazing, the room was beautiful and perfectly comfortable in terms of sound, and nice and light. Service was friendly and perfect. If you are in Edinburgh, please do this.

The Makars Rest

30/06/2019: We were ready for a break and stopped in here because we saw a sign that it was good for gluten-free. Nice place, great comfort food, lots of choices for my celiac husband. They have tables outside, but we were there on a ratty day. I had a G&T; and scotch eggs and cheddar chive mash. My husband had lamb shank and mash. Everything was great. Wish they were where we live.

Aizle

21/07/2019: We came here for my dad's birthday and had an amazing experience. The concept of a secret tasting menu is quite unusual but also exciting as you don't know what's coming next. There is a blackboard which gives you hints as it mentions all of the key ingredients you'll be eating that evening.
06/07/2019: We booked from Australia a month or so in advance and managed to get a reasonable time to start. At Stg55 per head it was quite expensive, but it was really good, if somewhat filling. The course were small, but very good. The highlights for us included the Lindisfarne oyster dill with cheese truffle, beetroot, redcurrant and leek. Later the Scottish hogget, with pink fir potato and ewes curds also hit the spot. That isn't to denigrate the other offerings which were all excellent. The wine list included such wines as an Argentinian sparkling and Falerio and a Catarrato Cello Bianca fro Sicily.
