Just back from afternoon tea.We had a voucher for champagne afternoon tea,not being able to serve alcohol at the moment,we were offered options of non alcoholic drinks, which were lovely. They even gave my wife tea to take away. The food was great, the chef was at the top of his/her game and the servers were on the ball.Only reason it’s wasn’t a 5 review was because the sandwiches weren’t outstanding like the rest, but that was probably us being picky.

The Makars Rest

09/09/2020: It was not a problem when we arrived 30 minutes early for our booking and we were given a nice table towards the back of the restaurant. We ordered chicken in a whisky sauce with bacon and spring onion mash and wild boar sausages with cheese and chive mash. Both were absolutely delicious, but sadly left no room for pudding. With two beers and a large Pinot Grigio, the bill was £43.50. Excellent and friendly service and good social distancing etc.
03/09/2020: We came here for lunch on a recent visit to Edinburgh. The concept is great and the food was not bad, but the taste wasn't really as exciting as we had anticpated. There was nothing wrong with it, but it just wasn't one of our favourite meals in Edinburgh. The lamb shank for example was massive and well cooked, but the sauce was not great (in our view). Most people seem to enjoy it very much though, based on other reviews.

17/08/2020: 2 of us dined at Dine on Saturday & we were well impressed. Service was attentive & staff handled Covid safety well.Cocktails for £5 until 6pm are fab. The lunch of 3 courses & wine for £47.50 between 2 is so worth the money. And the food was so tasty. We tried spinach croquettes, prawn tortilla for starters, then delicious pork meatballs in a superb sauce with rice & then finished our meal off with lemon profiteroles (wow) & a tiramisu cheesecake.Absolutely perfect in every way. Can't wait to go back.
11/08/2020: We had lunch here recently, our first restaurant meal since lockdown was introduced. The restaurant had all the expected hygiene measures in place, including staff wearing masks, sanitised menus and hand sanitiser on each table. The menu was as interesting as ever and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. It was so good to be back to doing something normal. Thank you.
