Been wanting to eat here for a very long time and wasn't disappointed. Food and service was great and they make a good margarita 🍸

OMG wow we was on holiday with our Geordie friends and they took us out for a meal, fish n chips, to Colmans, and was our first time there, I highly recommend this place, fantastic with views to die for, simply lovely.

I certainly recommend this place for the freshest fish. My cod was so white and had only a fine crusty batter which made it healthier too

Whenever I go to South Shields with my children and mum, we always visit here. Just fantastic, tasty, delicious fish and chips. Recommend to everyone as long as you promise to leave enough for me to order 😁😋👍

Went here today had the Malaysian seafood curry it was exceptional lve lived in Asia and this dish was what I would have expected from there well done to the chef I certainly will be back again next time I visit the north east 👍

Very over priced food £14 for a starter of a scraping of crab on a large cracker disguised with loads of cress on top...fish and chips ok but no better than my usual takeaway and twice the price..wouldn't bother again.

Phoned on the off chance to get a table but was fully booked but told we could sit round the bar. Was great. Food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and chatty. Definitely come back again

Visited the Fish Temple for the first time on Easter Sunday. Amazing food and amazing service especially Amy our server who was so pleasant and professional.

Absolutely beautiful. I had the Tacos and the curry can definitely recommend both of them. They were cooked to perfection.

Cod and chips from the takeaway was OK. Very small piece of cod that didn't taste of much. Most expensive chips I've ever bought @ £3.70. For £11 overall I'd hope they'd be more generous with portion size. Feel as though it's a bit of a rip off.

A great location. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is incredible. Its fresh as it gets and delicious. The best seafood restaurant I've visited in the UK. A must if you are in the area but book as it does get busy.

My husband and I have been working away in ireland for a few weeks and managed to get home for a few days. We decided to visit Colmans Seafood Temple as he is originally from South Shields and we had heard great things. I am pleased to say, we were not disappointed! The food and service were as amazing as the sea view 😍. We will 100% be returning and would recommend this South Shields gem to anyone. There really is no place like home ❤️ P.S the prawn tacos are unreal!

As usual the food was first class and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic chips from the takeaway downstairs. The tacos were also lovely. Only served Thursday to Sunday but well worth trying.

North sea waves crashing on the shore. But watching from a warm vantage point at Colmans. Great flakey haddock, crunchy batter, hot chips. Washed down with a cup of tea. However, I tried battered mushy pea fritters. How good are they! Was told it was a North East thing. Not bad at all. I'm not a big fan of curry sauce, but Colmans curry sauce had me dipping chips and fritters in there, nice. Parking and the views are amazing, I believe they also have a takeaway, but didn't see that as we were sitting in.

First time, but will certainly return. Good food and excellent friendly service.

The fish and chips here are the best we have had. Top quality freshly prepared and all locally sourced. You can see where today's catch has been caught, which boat even whee the potatoes are produced. You won't be disappointed. Please try the fresh tartare sauce. it's absolutely superb 👌

A bit disappointed this time, waited a while for someone to ask us for drinks, we had to approach a waiter in the end when a table came in after us and was seen to first. 3 things we wanted to order they didn’t have, but what we did oder food was delicious, just service was very slow.

Lovely location. We were a large group and they had no problem accommodating us. They were lovely with the children. Food was fantastic as always.

This is the finest dining fish restaurant in the north-east of England and possibly anywhere! Good enough for Hilary Clinton, and good enough for me 😜. The battered cod/haddock is about the size of a small whale, and it's delicious. The menu offers a range of other seafood delights. The service from all front-of-house staff is excellent. Views from most areas are great, and if you're lucky you might see dolphins at play a few feet off the shore line. For me, you can't beat the large cod, chips and mushy peas ( see the pics).

Great staff and fantastic food and cocktails. Very smart and modern location with great views and handy council car park near by. Spotlessly clean. An all round great experience. When booking on line double check the have received your booking as we have had problems a couple of times. Update 16/9/23; all the above comments about food & staff remain relevant. Staff are brilliant & there's a great bar/cocktail area too. Great atmosphere but it can get a bit noisy at times, probably due to the modern hard surface decor bouncing sound around & a/c can be a bit too cool sometimes. Highly recommended this place for a special occasion or just for an everyday eat out opportunity. But, it is popular so either book or be prepared to wait - more than worth a wait, and there is always that cocktail bar!! UPDATE; 23/02/2024, All of the above remains true & accurate. Another shout out to the staff who are amazing & food is of the highest standard.

Fantastic first trip for valentines lunch. Food and service was perfect. Excellent oysters and prawn taco to start, and beautiful presented. The mussels and rare tuna main courses were beautifully cooked. A side of proper chips were good and the pinot grigio to wash it down was perfect. Service was excellent. Our only problem was that we couldn't add on a tip to the card payment and didn't have cash. We'll just have to go again and double the tip.... Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back.

Mushy pea fritters were a revelation!

I've had better food at McDonald's, we had the sea food platter for two. Total waste of money, certainly won't be returning.

Service and food are great. The views are amazing too but the only thing that stopped it from being a 5 star is their prices. Don't feel like you got enough for the price tags. The crab starter is a let down in this way. Pasta hardly had any fish in it.

The food was freshly made and delicious the service was excellent The first visit and I will definitely go back for more.

Was out with friends and family, service was fab, food was very nice, not a lot of vegetarian options, 3 of our party were vegetarian.

Visited for the first time with my wife. Had a wonderful hot seafood platter. Make sure you are good and hungry as the portions are generous. Staff were great and we will certainly return. Fantastic, 10/10.

Everyone has their own favourite Fish&Chips restaurant, but Colmans is without doubt, absolutely top-notch. Dine in or takeaway Colmans finest quality Fish&Chips simply cannot be matched.

Never disappoints, always delights, no matter how many times I visit and those times have been numerous over the years. One of these days I may get beyond the large cod or haddock, chips, mushy pea fritters, curry sauce (Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it), I always go with the best of intentions as other offerings on the menu sound delicious, then it’s back to the same old thing. But what’s wrong with that, if the same old thing is as good as it is. Well worth a visit, and now that I’ve put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, I feel the need for fish and chips!

Dined at this restaurant tonight. The service and ambience were second to none tonight from start to finish. Very helpful pleasant staff and management, fantastic cocktails. The starter of King Prawns was the best I’ve ever had, huge prawns with very tasty garlic butter sauce. The main course was salmon with stir fried vegetables, again fantastic portion and top quality food. The very best dining experience, service and ambience we’ve had in a long time. Very well done, South Shields needed this.

Nice food but small portions and confusing service. We went hoping to get an early dinner at 4pm. They had no tables. They suggested the takeaway. So we thought we'd try it. We ordered, and waited. It took a while. We were then asked to move from where we and the kids were sitting waiting as the only table is used by staff to eat on their break. We eventually got the takeaway. And sat outside to eat it. The adults had tacos. They were very delicious, but small 2-3 bites per taco. We ordered 2 kids meal, they only had put one through.

Great views over the beach, coupled with fresh seafood and fish and chips. Lindisfarne oysters and lobster were particular highlights, but the Fish and Chips were also a big hit.

Brilliant food! Can't wait to return.

Called in on the fly, couldn't get into main restaurant, we we're offered seats in the bar still with a view. Very surprised by level of service, all very pleasant and friendly, fish and chips were great, would definitely return.

Always brilliant, Riley's over the water always seems to be people's go to for showing Southerners the North East "is nice, actually" - but they really should be coming here just as much. Great views over the sea and beach, cheaper than Rileys, local institution, and you might actually get a table inside!

It's fine. Some of our party had the haddock/chips offer. Chips were poor, floppy, with a grainy exterior. Fish was fine but nowt special. Mushy pea fritter was interesting but too much of it. In fact, the portion sizes were a bit daft, with far too much on the plate. While delicious, the cheese souffle starter was big enough for a main. Service was decent though, with very few covers to serve during our stay, the kitchen seemed slow and we waited 20 minutes for starters and 15 for mains. Lovely building with stonking views over the beach and estuary to Tynemouth. Overall, yeah. But choose your dishes carefully.

Lives up to the reputation! Great setting, excellent service and superb food. Crispy Prawn Taco starter was especially good - went for standard cod and chips main which was delicious but my wife had the seafood curry which was awesome!! 1st visit and will be again soon!

We had a takeaway, haddock was lightly battered and not oily. The chips were well cooked squidgy and fluffy inside. The star was the curry sauce.

I love food - however, Colmans seafood temple was a WHOLE other level!. We had: Seafood Soufflé, Seafood platter and sticky toffee pudding. Let's start with the soufflé. I don't think i have tasted anything like it! the flavour and texture were so on point. whatever that bisque was that it was siting on, was out of this world. The seafood platter was huge and tbh could have fed 3, and the dessert was amazing. On top of all of that, the service here was fantastic, the staff are so knowledgeable and always on top of it. The view is spectacular as it overlooks the sea. My friend (who is Mexican said "the best food i have had in the UK"!) I live in London, I would travel back up here, in the cold, just to come here again! PLEASE do not ever take the soufflé off the menu! xxxxxx

Owen and the team were exceptional, from arrival right through to departure, service and food were both fantastic. We came, unbooked for my 60th, nothing was too much trouble. BTW, I'm a Chef, my wife is a Baker, we run our own establishment so therefore realise how much work goes into a service, thank you.

We had a fantastic family evening out at Coleman’s, Sid was our waiter and the service was amazing, best we’ve had in a long time, he was also great with our two children. The food was brilliant and the staff were all really attentive. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated for Christmas. We will Definitely be back soon, Best restaurant in Shields in my opinion.

Beautiful food and lovely staff

My twin brother and I enjoyed our birthday lunch here and we had a great time. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious, especially the seafood curry and the sticky toffee pudding! The sea views were lovely too!

What a fabulous evening! The seafood was perfection and the staff are so attentive! Highly recommend! If I could add one suggestion it would be the option to have fries instead of chips (they're not as heavy) but everything was so delightful that I would happily have everything as it was. Thank you for an excellent experience!
