COHO in Harlow

The venue is nice, the staff are brilliant and the food is great. What a nice find having moved close. Will defo come back!

We were early for lunch but they were not phased. They were so very welcoming. The restaurant ( and toilets!) were sparkling clean. The menu was wide ranging and the food was really the best we have had in a long time. For a very fair price, two delightfully presented dishes were brought out. There was exactly the right amount of food on the plate, not skimped and not overloaded. We had smoked salmon to start and it was deliciously and then I had sea bass. It was so fresh and cooked to perfection. I cannot praise the staff highly enough, they were so pleasant and the chefs certainly know their skill. It was such a lovely treat for my daughter and myself. I will try hard to bring more of my family even though it’s a little drive to get there, it’s worth it. Thank you guys, we had a wonderful time.

This is painful, because our starters were really lovely, chicken livers and mussels. The problem came with the mains. The linguine with seafood comprised spaghetti hoops as far as we could tell, inedible calamari, and mussels, which were not supposed to even be included. This apparently was a misprint. Actually: incompetence. The pork belly was OK-ish. It was advertised with mash, and then cabbage and bacon. In fact, the mash was combined with cabbage and there was no evidence of bacon at all. This all smells of boil in the bag and poor quality control, and upset us, because service and ambience was fine. For example, the bread on the table was super. Time to think again about why this potentially nice place exists.

Our first visit to coho and why have we waited so long to come here !! The food was amazing, very reasonable prices and really friendly and welcoming staff, will definitely be back soon !!

The dining experience could not be bettered with excellent menu choices and welcoming staff. Tables are beautifully set with white tablecloths and napkins and differing slices of bread are offered with butter that you can actually spread! A great start to go with drinks while waiting for dinner to be cooked to order. The food was just wonderful. Delicious and beautifully presented. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary but we will be returning time and again. This is a restaurant that everyone should know about. It is special.

We had a very nice experience in Coho on Sunday. The set menu is varied but some dishes have supplements. Prawn and crab salad timbali was excellent. Service is slow but it was nice to take time and chat. Staff were all very nice but there did appear to be less staff than when we arrived. I think the restaurant runs a lunch time sitting so that may account for the delay in between courses as the room was full. Guests were nice and well behaved little ones are welcome. (Rib eye wasn't great )tbh This is not Smiths Brasserie where the food is truly excellent but we really enjoyed it and we thought the price for 2 or 3 courses was reasonable. Hoping to return to try the Al a Carte menu

Came here for my 40th birthday on a quiet Tuesday and received exceptional food and exceptional service, including a happy birthday song and chef’s cheesecake with a candle. Lovely place! Thanks to all the lovely staff ☺️👍

Our first visit here since before the pandemic. Our previous experience had been excellent but this time we were underwhelmed to say the least. Despite the restaurant being a third full the service was slow and mildly disinterested with the waiting staff disappearing for long periods..One of our party had a shell fish allergy and asked for his dish to be served without a prawn butter. Either the chef or waiting staff forgot and while most of our party were served the one with the allergy was kept waiting while some other dish was created for him when the error was discovered. No one was quite sure what he was eventually served but it bore little relation to what he received about ten minutes behind everybody else. Unfortunately he was the one celebrating his birthday. We did order another couple of glasses of wine but they did not arrive till we finished eating. Although oddly the waiting staff acknowledged the problems no kind of compensation was offered. £50 per head for two courses each topped it off. They won't see us again alas.

This is not my first review of COHO and unlikely to be my last as I have been a regular here for many years. I booked a lunchtime table for three for today 27th May with Jason yesterday. We walked, as we always do, and when we arrived the car park was remarkably empty. The delightful Matilda, who was on duty and our server informed us that we were the only diners who had booked for lunch. I couldn't believe it as my recent attempts to book a table were absolute failures, as the place is usually packed. Whether it was because it is the start of a bank holiday weekend and half term I cannot say. Jason didn't try to deter me, so as far as I can see the restaurant was opened just for us; we felt like royalty. The food and service was just as excellent as it always is and we were certainly not put under any pressure to finish quickly, and Matilda couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. I think this is a true testament to a customer focussed attitude, even if it meant not covering their operational costs on this occasion.

This is more a suggestion than it is a complaint..Service was great. Food quality and portion size great but..too much 'de-construction' with desserts. Sticking to traditional and what people expect e.g. Bread and butter pudding not served as a square, Cheesecake not served as a tower, Eton Mess not served as sundae..would have got you 5 stars. Shame..but all the same, really worth a visit.

My brother and I decided to treat ourselves to a lovely meal here. The waiter who served us was very polite and patient, not leaving us waiting at any point! We both chose the burger option, and we were not disappointed! The coleslaw was lovely, and the onion rings and chips were crispy. The burger itself was delicious. We couldn’t help ourselves and ordered dessert. My brother ordered the cheesecake of the day (it was Bailey’s) and I ordered 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream. They were presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Had to come back and try it again after our first visit. Not disappointed, once again great staff very professional and managed to keep my wine glass topped up throughout the meal. Food was very good and a great wine selection. Lots of fish on the menu and the Sea Bass was delicious.

Popped in to Coho, Harlow last night, and as always (as been a few times) was extremely impressed. Staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is good. The food is very impressive, and the menu is extensive - mainly being fish dishes... Always go for the Fishcakes as they never disappoint. Colleague had the soup of the day which tasted amazing (her words as I didn't try it!) Had the main course of 30-day aged steak and the peppercorn sauce was a nice addition. The "Jenga" chips are great - nicely seasoned and a good portion. If you want to go for an "independent" and not a restaurant chain, this is definitely the restaurant for you! Will be booking to go again, soon...

We have been meaning to visit for ages and we finally went for dinner but were so disappointed. The place is so dark we found it very depressing, we could hardly see each other or the food we were eating and as as it was quite noisy not being able to see properly made communiaction even more difficult. They may have been aiming for romantic candlelight but actually achieved a feeling of they needed a shilling for the electric meter. My partner and I decided to go here last night and after nothing but good reviews and recommendations from people and hearing how it was similar to smiths in ongar (which is most definitely NOT) so our expectations were high only for them to be hugely let down almost instantly up on arriving.Wasn’t a warm welcome and was seated in the lounge and handed menus straight away was given about 5mins to decide on starters and mains and the order was taken before reaching the table. We sat down at 7pm and starters arrived at 7:01 (yes we was timing) hadn’t even got through the bread ..waitresses were miserable and dressed in jeans and trainers yet all the customers were smartly dressed. We were still chewing our food when the plates were taken from the table literally another 10mins later mains were brought out food was nice but portion sizes were small we both left hungry. We decided to swerve dessert as the staff made us feel like we almost shouldn’t of been there. Got in the car at 7:30 on the dot so all in all we was in there for half and hour! Felt majorly rushed and unwelcome and went home and ordered a Chinese! Will never go back and will defo let our friends and family know about this appalling experience. In future we will defo be going somewhere a little more warm and welcoming and somewhere you actually have a chance to digest your food! Not impressed!

4 of us had lunch here.The set menu provided good selection.I went for liver starter which was very nice and the fish of the day which was one piece of hake and one piece of sea bass. This was a stunning main course. Fish cooked to perfection with dauphin oise potatoes a lovely tomato and basil drizzle.Desert was a masterpiece Eton mess constructed differently to how I had had it before.Service was very good, setting was fine.Would certainly eat here again.Anyone thinking of doing so won't be disappointed.The other 3 members of our part all had an excellent meal.

Wow what a gem, all Mediterranean dishes, a great selection of starters cooked to order . I hope the kitchen has good air conditioning as the chef must be on fire. The food is so good, better than many west end top eating Restaurants.,great young staff very welcoming, must be tried .

This is an amazing find. Delicious food served in this contemporary restaurant tucked away in old Harlow. So lucky to have secured a reservation, very popular. The entire menu is so tempting. Staff professional and friendly.

I was recommended this restaurant a while back. It’s nicely decorated, relaxing environment, easy parking, friendly staff especially one very sweet waitress named RAPHI. Food was spot on and price’s were more than reasonable. Can also be hired for a private venue. I would definitely be visiting COHO again.

A very quiet lunch for my birthday treat with my wife at COHO'S, we were welcomed at the door with a pleasant young lady who booked us in and then showed us to our table.

Steak was overcooked, sauce wasn’t very nice and the chips were dry. Starters and desserts were very good. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh it’s just I was expecting better.

Dined there last night with my Son and Daughter in law. Mussels in white wine and garlic, really good followed by the Madagascan jumbo tiger prawns which were excellent. All washed down with a lovely house Chardonnay.

We meet about every 6 weeks or so for lunch and now only go to COHO's. The service is reliably good, the menu is interesting and varied and there are always daily specials on offer.The food is excellent and well presented and great value in comfortable surroundings. The sort of reliable dining experience the High St chain restaurants cannot offer.

Food was great. There were five of us and everyone said their meal was really good. It was at lunch time and quite empty but the restaurant and the young girl waitress and the man waiter were both really friendly and helpful. I have coeliac disease and have to follow a gluten free diet and they couldn't have been more accommodating to me personally. Best meal I have had out in a long time. I live in Essex and often go to London but this was by far the best value with great food and excellent staff that I have come across in some time. Ticks all the boxes.

My husband arranged a surprise get together here for my 50th birthday for 20 family and friends and it was just amazing. Delicious food, excellent staff, our choices were pre-ordered due to the size of our party and everyone said their food was fantastic. They really couldn't do enough to accommodate us.....we all left full, happy and a little tipsy! Thank you Coho

First class food, first class service. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

We were told, before our food arrived (more than 40 minutes after we ordered), that someone was complaining about our 19 month old daughter making noise. Apparently a table of their regular customers found her unacceptable from 3-4 metres and two tables away.

This restaurant has excellent food and service. My only reservation is that it can be noisy, makes conversation difficult. Having said this I would wholeheartedly recommend
