Nice place for good coffee and to catch up with friends. Can get busy though, best to avoid during peak hours.

Stop at the Academy today. Really nice coffee shop with a nice feel to it and really good service. They have some nice toasties, sandwiches and cakes on offer. I had the Espresso Brownie which was really good. Its a nice environment and out of the way which i like. *********************************** ***********************************

I was totally shocked at the price at the price of a hot cross bun £3.95 is Winchester now on part of Londons King's Road Chelsea it was a nice bun but not worth that kind of money

Never been before, a complete joy. Lovely helpful staff, great coffee and pastry. The booth style seating meant we could chat without hearing everyone else, it was busy. What I really appreciated was not being hassled to leave before we were ready.

Popped in for a coffee first thing as had a omg journey, nice place clean though some of the seating alittle uncomfortable. They did a great batch brew and would visit again.

Got an espresso and a flat white. The espresso wasn't bad but not particularly interesting and I expected much better from such a place. The flat white was watery and tasteless. Overall not very impressed but it could have been a bad day.

Visited in December and it was lovely so went back. Unfortunately, not the same experience. Waited to be served, was met with an unfriendly 'hey' when I was eventually asked for my order. Was told table I had chosen would be cleared, however, had to ask again when brought over our coffees. Didn't clear all the table and left crumbs and one remaining dirty plate from previous customer. Had to ask again when brought over cake to clear table and had to ask for it to be cleaned again. Left his cleaning spray on the chair. No apology and no please or thank you.

Was not aware until I arrived at the door that they have a policy on laptops where people working with them are not permitted all the time. They prioritise families and groups at busier times. I was not within the permitted time frame so I went elsewhere. Just useful to know if you want to work outside the house. Zoom in to image to see times

Really nice tasting coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. Great for a coffee out with friends or family. As a mother of young children, having staff bring the drinks and food to the table makes the whole experience so much nicer rather than balancing children and hot drinks! Low level music in the background and delicious cakes, what's not to love?

Used to like this place (good coffee, pleasant ambience) but just found out that they’ve banned laptops at weekends. I get that to some extent, but it’s frustratingly draconian at the same time - commenting as someone who likes to spend their time writing whilst drinking their coffee. So, if you’re a digital nomad, I’d suggest going elsewhere :-(

Probably my favourite spot in Winchester. It’s not as busy as some of the cafes by the cathedral so you can almost always get a table, the cakes and pastries are delicious, as are the drinks. It’s got a very chilled atmosphere, and often there are people working away or reading at the other tables and I can recommend doing so if you are looking for somewhere good in Winchester to work while you have access to coffee/ tea and food. The only down side is that there’s a very limited range of gluten free food - usually just a brownie and a lemon and blueberry loaf cake - it would be great to have more of a range available, maybe even something savoury?

Had a really nice chai tea at a reasonable price. It has a nice welcoming calm atmosphere and would recommend it for an afternoons coffee or tea stop.

Had a delicious citrus 'croissant' style pastry with an excellent decaff latté which had a good flavour. Service was efficient and friendly. Nicely tucked away, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended. Would have given five stars but it is quite expensive - okay for a treat though.

This place is amazing - I had the best flat white I can remember (and we live in London and go out for coffee regularly!). Excellent cinnamon bun too!

Absolutely fantastic space. Everything you would expect from a 5 star coffee shop. The food and coffee was great. The space was ideal for working and the baristas were lovely.

Having used the venue as a place to work and buy a coffee on several occasions during a week on jury service, one day I forgot my wallet, and was not only allowed to work there but even treated to a free coffee. Very kind and conscientious service.

A group of us stopped by Academy for coffee and lunch on a busy Saturday, and the although it was busy, tables come up pretty quickly as it’s a quite a large coffee shop. It’s very stylish, with a ‘Scandinavian’ minimalist feel. The coffee was the main star of the show, and was truly one of the nicest coffees I have had in a very long time. The lunch items were all nice too, although the sandwiches I felt were priced a little too highly for the size. We finished off lunch with a Hoxton sweet bun, which are delicious, and I’ll never turn down the chance to have one! In Winchester, there is one thing we’re not short of and that’s coffee shops, however I feel that Academy really stands out with great style and more importantly, amazing coffee.

Phwoar - what a lovely coffee shop. We had breakfast here today and loved the various coffees we selected - from a piccolo, a flat white to lattes. A range of alternative milks are available. Between us we ate a very crispy bacon sandwich, croissants with jam and butter, a dark chocolate cookie, custard-filled Madagascan vanilla roll and apple and cinnamon roll. All delicious. The lighting and seating is so stylish, staff were super helpful. There’s a free water station and it’s dog- friendly (we saw so many great dogs today!) A great cafe - would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Winchester.

Really nice big and stylish space - very Scandinavian in appearance, loads of seating, loads of dogs, perfect combo! The staff were so helpful and friendly, and the coffee here is really tasty. Also had a bacon sandwich - the bread was super crumbly and perfectly toasted, and the bacon was lovely and crispy. The sweet buns are yummy too, especially the vanilla custard filled one.

Always service with a smile and perfectly crafted Coffee. Great relaxing ambience in this stylish Winchester cafe. A memorable place for all coffee lovers.

A dreadful experience. The adverts claimed award winning coffee and customer service. What I was met with was an arrogant attitude that I was some how privileged to use their cafe, poor quality coffee, slow and rude service. They refused to take cash, insisting on card payment - not everyone uses payment cards. I shant be back, there are many coffee houses and cafes in Winchester, all are preferable to this institution.

Was ready for a nice cup of coffee after a trip round Winchester Market on a very cold Sat 3 Dec. Coffee was fab with lots of choices and staff very friendly. I resisted the pastries/food on offer but looked really nice. You do have to find a table first before ordering, which is not great when you are solo. Only one toilet and had to queue next to tables. It's definitely on my favourite list.

I went to Coffee lab sometime ago, it was good then. Coffee Lab is now The Academy, what an upgrade! Great service, coffee and food. Very impressed with the Barista skills and knowledge. It's a real gem in the city - much better than the chains of anonymous corporate coffee shops

Calm atmosphere, lovely interior and even better coffee! The staff are lovely and it's definitely one of my favourite places to go for a coffee in Winchester! A bonus that it stays open a bit later than other shops as well!

Lovely coffee and cakes - I can recommend those! In my opinion its failings are the staffing - could have been a little more enthusiastic and welcoming or perhaps more staff were required - and the environment - the coffee shop is fairly clean and organised but nothing pretty or interesting to look at.

Not impressed at all. If I’m being charged a whopping £3.50 for a v60 brew (more than central London) I expect good things. Sadly it was weak & watery, big disappointment. Also the food on the counter was covered in flies! At least protect it. All the high prices non of the high quality sadly :(

Popped in after a heavy gym session as I am a member of Energy and was barely acknowledged by the serving staff. Thought she was very rude and needs a lesson in customer service. Off putting really, unlikely to go back.

The coffee at Coffeelab used to be the best in town, but others have now caught up so this weekend was our last visit. Service is unacceptably slow (usually 15 minutes to get your coffee) and the pastries were at least a day old; dry and crumbly but sprinkled with icing sugar to tart them up. I don't mind paying for good food and service, but Coffeelab falls well short nowadays. The same happened with Caracoli, they were once brilliant and then started to penny pinch and ruined the business.

Good coffee, great spot, nice atmosphere, spacious. All you need. Not quite enough wow factor on the coffee front for 5 stars, flat white was top notch, cortado left me wanting

I love this place - close to the town centre and my favourite coffee in town. They’ve recently expanded into a larger space - and CL always feels spacious - even when busy. Not too far from its sister cafe, The Square, it has a completely different feel: I’d advise this cafe for a coffee and 🥐 or 🍰- and I tend to visit The Square for lunch.

I had visited this cafe once before and was impressed but this time my large couscous salad arrived with half the ingredients missing. The friendly server promised to give us a partial credit but, of course, this did not happen. As the cafe does not give receipts, I cannot go back to them now but I won't return. A shame.

Coffee was good. Service diabolical. It was a bank holiday and the kids had been left to run the place. Tables not cleared, disorganised behind the counter, staff didn't know who had been served and who was waiting. We watch one member of staff with long hair constantly playing zżx with it as it wasn't tied back and then sneezing into her hand and continuing to serve, absolutely dreadful. Two stars for the coffee.

I visited coffee lab with my sister a few days ago and was very pleasantly surprised. After our first delicious coffees we were offered a 'V60' filter coffee by a helpful young man who told us a bit about the different coffee beans. Overall a lovely experience, we'll definitely be returning!

Had to ask for a missing tea twice. Food came late and no one tells you what to wait for or what will come to the table. Asked for serviettes for table of 4 and got two. Had to ask for milk and teaspoons. And then crowing glory, only one toilet. Overpriced sandwiches

Terrible! So disappointed I had to leave a review. Table dirty, dirty glasses and cups stacked all around where we were sitting. Coffee took ages to come, came to us in takeaway cups with no explanation. We had to ask why and were told they’d run out of cups! Didn’t get the coffee I ordered so it had to be made again, no apology as if I’d made the mistake when ordering. When my replacement came it was disappointing and luke warm. If you’re going to call yourself coffee lab academy and charge those prices you’d expect the coffee to be top notch! Not worth the money and wish we’d gone elsewhere, won’t be returning!

No thrills coffee visit on a busy Wednesday morning. Staff were the most unfriendly young girls I’ve come across - zero interest in their jobs and no hospitality skills. Coffee was average and came so late after the cakes we ordered so we’d eaten them by the time they came. The cake selection is good, varied choice, but I asked the waitress where they are baked and if they are homemade and she didn’t have a clue. The place was untidy and I had to clear my own table from the people before. The toilet was unclean with empty toilet rolls, messy sink and the baby changing facilities were shocking. The baby changing mat was on the toilet FLOOR next to the toilet which would have been used by multiple people. Really disappointed and won’t return. Has so much potential but really needs a good floor manager in there to give the place a good kick in the right direction.

Disappointed. This used to be great but the service is now exceptionally slow and not friendly. There’s no pace or energy to the staff. Tables left uncleared and waiting to gave order taken despite staff wandering around. On one occasion recently I requested a skim milk latte and when given my order checked which one was skim milk only to be told that it was half skim & half full milk in order to make the milk froth properly. So I’d waited almost 10 mins for a take out coffee that wasn’t even what I ordered. Please sort it out! Just needs some pace, energy & smiles.

Its Great Coffee!! The best around I reckon, my go to place! Sometimes we visit Winchester for just a walk around and their coffee! Cakes are good as well, sandwiches look lovely, but they push my budget a bit far. 😋😋
